Manifesting Support for Your Manifesting Projects
Digging into the ways in which objects and structures can not only support our manifesting projects but give us vital feedback and guidance.
Manifesting Support for Your Manifesting Projects
Most people learn to manifest a bit like an athlete preparing for competition. They use their mind to envision exactly what needs to happen, what the end result should be, and what their life will be like after it's happened. They engage their will power to keep those thoughts present and avoid any thoughts to the contrary as well as wrangling their emotions away from doubt and into positive affirmations and assent. All of which swing the odds of success in their favor. It's not a guarantee but it removes all the barriers which are within the control of the individual whether athlete or manifestor. Conscious effort and actions try to narrow down external negative factors and smooth the way for success. Then it's a matter of showing up and doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done. If things don't work out, then it's back to the drawing board. In corporate terms there's a need to do a postmortem to see what went wrong and what can be done differently the next time to get the right result. Wash - Rinse - Repeat.
People sometimes approach the manifestation process as if the world is all raw material and they are an artist who can make anything from it they wish. Discussions about manifesting often focus on the process as a choice or an act of will. However, we are manifesting ourselves into the world in each moment. It's an autonomic function of our being just like our heartbeat.
We are always reaching for or being fed Akasha in its purest form. From our soul book, our higher self or both, we are receiving a stream of Akasha in every moment of every day. Some of it we use as life force to run our bodies, some to get us through the day, and some to help us heal and rejuvenate through the night. It is the second wind which gets us through the tough times, the warmth which spreads through us at the sight of our best beloved, and the strength which rises up to help us say "No." Akasha runs through us like a slow-moving river, from the top of our head through our fingertips, from our 3rd Eye to the tips of our toes. As it flows through us the Akasha is changed, transmuted, and formed by who we are and what we do, part of it going out into the world through our words and actions.
Manifestation in its simplest form is a conversation between an individual and the Universe in all its aspects. One side speaks and then the other in an ongoing communication which allows each to express itself.
Also, as part of the manifesting process it's good to keep in mind the Universe is not one singular being, one entity which somehow interacts with each individual and each particle of matter in some magic way with some grand plan. It is an interconnected web of life so complicated we may never understand all its intricacies. What we can know is our understanding of cause and effect is amazingly limited due to the nature of our brains and our need to deal with temporal and local realities, while the Universe is relatively unlimited. So, while manifesting can sometimes seem like a magic trick or some kind of spell casting, in reality it is a conversation with the Universe which starts with a request and causes multitudinous events in response. Because we can't see all the connections and all the cause-and-effect steps along the way, what we do see seems mystical or random or synchronistic. And this is fine because part of the manifestation is about surrender and trust as is true with any relationship.
As with any conversation, you can't always do the talking. You have to listen as well and give the other side equal time, which is why, once you have formulated your request, you shouldn't dwell on it. You can work on it a bit each day if there are actions you can take, but once that is done, let it go and go on with the rest of your day. Let the Universe work on its end. And when events happen to support your request, "listen" to them i.e. recognize them for what they are, act upon them, say "Thank You" and keep going. It's all part of the conversation.
It is at this point my students commonly have questions such as "how do I hear the response from the universe or how do I know it's responding?" and "How do I have this ongoing conversation? Don't I just set an intention?"
To both of these things I recommend my students start thinking about conversation as more than just thoughts, intentions or energy. Because just as we don't think conversations to our friends, family or significant other, neither should we do so with the world we're manifesting things into. Instead, I introduce the concepts of manifestation supports.
Each culture has multiple and various ways of providing manifesting supports for projects from tattoos, ceremonies, and painting to contracts, diplomas and job offers. Tibetan monks manifest their manifesting through toning and sand mandalas while entrepreneurs do so through branding and 5-year business plans. Native American tribes are supported by petroglyphs which continue to manifest supportive energies for ceremony even though they were carved thousands of years ago. Homeowners do so through listings and real estate contracts which are never really real until they close.
Manifesting supports do several important things. One of the most crucial is, once in place, they are programmed with the goal/project to complete in all it's aspects as well as the intention of the manifestor and they radiate those out into the world 24/7. Unlike we humans whose energy is constantly, and appropriately, divided into thousands of tasks, goals, priorities and interests throughout each day, which can cause our energy for the manifesting to waiver, change, or drop out completely for hours or days at a time (our soul is infinite but our ability to focus is not), our manifesting support has one job, to manifest what we have put in motion.
So, like a slow cooker/hot pot which we set at the beginning of the day so it can cook our dinner while we go on about our day, our manifesting support continues the project until we have a chance to check in.
Another benefit is while we may have limited input as to how our manifestation project is going, especially if there are multiple components all working at different rates or someone other than us is in the decision-making process and we have no insight into what they will decide, our manifesting support is not physically limited in this way and can give us feedback. Our manifesting support, being in direct energy connection with the goal, will change, shift, dim, brighten or otherwise reflect what is going on and other steps which are necessary and this is something our bodies and nervous system can experience and react to in real time which can speed up the manifesting process. It can also help us calm down, not overthink things, not fiddle where fiddling will just muddy the water, or tell us everything is going to plan.
So, what is a manifesting support? Well, it is whatever you want it to be or what works best for the situation. Some people work with lists activated by setting a crystal on them. Others use art/craft in one way or another. Since scrapbooking came into being it's no longer necessary to have artistic skill in order to work this way. Everything can now be a sticker if you can get an adhesive which is strong enough to keep things connected. I mean, you could probably make your car into a sticker, but it would be less dangerous if you attached stickers to your car. You can make clay figures or dolls, use adult or not so adult coloring pages, create play lists you have on repeat in the background, collect items which represent the goal (because sometimes more is better until it becomes hoarding... which brings on decluttering and intervention). You can also work with altars, change your wardrobe to dress for the new aspect of your life you're trying to manifest, create space in your home where this new thing/being/way of living is meant to be and much more.
And how do you know what support to use? How do you keep from being stuck because there are all the options and the concept is overwhelming? Well, this is where intuition is incredibly useful and one of your best allies. Each of us will know intuitively what would work best for us to get the kind of communication and manifesting support we need. This could be because you have had an image in your head which comes up every time you think of what you're manifesting. Or you have an urge to hold something, touch things, move aspects of things around like cards in a tarot deck or build the setting you want to be in so you can experience it outside of your mind's eye. You may want to graph things out so you can see the big picture, bring all the various pieces together to make one unified whole like Frieda Kahlo's painting "Heart to Heart", or something else entirely.
It's rare someone truly doesn't know what their manifesting support can be, but more often they tell themselves they can't have it because they don't know how to make it, get it, do it, or feel for some reason they aren't allowed to have/do/be that thing in this time in their life. What is necessary isn't usually more learning, it's permission.
What this looks like for me is setting aside all distractions so I can focus on starting a conversation. Think of this like sitting down at a coffee shop, pub, or restaurant to talk with a friend. Once you both are settled, your attention should be on each other and a good conversation is not one in which you listen only to get what you want or to respond, but one where you allow yourself to be interested in what the other wants to express.
So, while I almost always have a purpose for the manifestation support I'm making - almost always - I try not to go in with an agenda as to how it will look, what it will entail, or how the process will go. Just as with friends, there are boundaries which keep things healthy and positive (don't sneeze on their food or kick them under the table), but within those boundaries there is a great deal of room to do things the way we choose, and this way is a combination of both parties.
Let me clarify what I mean by conversation in this context. For those who want to work on improving their intuitive skills or learn how to apply Akashic energy to their spiritual practice, this is a good way to get started. When beginning an altar process, I tune my attention to the Akashic energy all around me and specifically to the energies which I want to work with for this project. This is similar to how a reiki practitioner will begin to run Reiki energy through themselves and their hands in order to work with a client.
Once I'm tuned in, meaning I'm listening, I will begin gathering what I need and starting to put it together. For me this starts with the container I'm using: a canvas if I'm painting, journal pages or paper if I'm collaging, the space I'll be using for clay, the coloring book, the area for my musical instruments and so on and so on. These are the foundation which sets and holds the energy for the conversation. This is the coffee shop with its table.
I repeat this process over and over with each item I'm using, paint/clay/paper/pencils including listening to where the item is placed, how it works in relationship to the others, and if it should or should not be used at all which sometimes changes once other items are already in the mix. It's not unusual during this process for me to feel the need to swap out something I thought I would use, feel the need to add something, or leave something out which ends up being unnecessary.
Once I think I'm done I stop for a moment and broaden my attention back out to the whole. Is it done? Does it need anything further? Am I ready to start using it? Sometimes it tells me it's done, and I can feel it because there is a felt in my body "click" and then the energy starts radiating out on its own. Other times the object is meant for me to be part of it (as in stand or sit in the space which I've built big enough for this purpose) and so once everything is ready, I'll need to get into it or start the ceremony it is meant to support.
In all cases, once the piece is set up and complete, then, like any good friendship, it's got a life of its own which it begins to experience, and which radiates out into the world around me. If it's a permanent installation or one which is going to be in place for a significant amount of time, it can just be left to do its thing and those who are energy sensitive can feel it's energy begin to permeate the space it's in and even the bones of the building.
The point is to bring into the physical the intentions and energies you're holding in your own being, which is the engine facilitating the manifestation process, out into the world in a way which exponentially enhances their reach, dexterity, and efficiency. It's a bit like the difference between playing acoustic guitar on its own or adding a microphone and amplifier. It's basically the same experience for the musician, but greatly enhanced for the All That Is. And if you record the music while it's being played then it enhances it even further by giving it greater reach through time as it's played over and over again. And the various audiences give feedback which can be perceived by the musician through guitar as it becomes fluid or struggles, through audience participation or lack thereof, through social media interaction or downloads of recordings plus much more.
Which means the artist can then choose to adjust what they are doing and how they are doing it which updates the performance, and the cycle continues.
This works with any manifestation support. An altar can feel great and look wonderful and then start to feel cold, uncomfortable, or irritating. This is them responding to your conversation starter. Going back to it and adjusting what is there, how the various items are stacked or relating to each other, or letting it end by taking it apart so you can start fresh is you replying back to them. Wash-rinse-repeat. With art/craft/collage/stickers this can look like adding to an art piece, making a new one which is a response to the old, getting new inspiration which takes the image in a new direction, working with the fact no matter how hard you try the image refuses to do or be what you're attempting (this is not a skill problem but information on why the manifestation project isn't going the way you're attempting to have it go) or even focusing on one particular part of the original image and "blowing it up" to be the central focus of a new image.
Another matter to keep in mind is things may not unfold exactly as you expect them too. Like all creations the end result is never exactly like what you've seen in your head, but it's a reflection of your skills and abilities of the moment interacting with the materials on hand. That's a great part of all creative processes whether in art, construction, or business. Manifesting something will bring an end result which will be what you asked for, but unique to your situation, the resources at hand and responsive to the moment. And receiving it will change you and this will take you to the next thing you wish to manifest. Such is the interconnectedness of life. So be open to what the Universe brings, be flexible so you can appreciate all the opportunities being offered and listen so you don't miss what is put in front of you.
Another thing manifesting supports are great for is dealing with fear. People speak about fear as detracting from manifesting. And this can be true, but it depends on what you mean by fear. Being afraid of something in real time, like an oncoming car or a bear standing next to you in the woods, or the decorative railing on the balcony of a high-rise apartment are all good fears which help your body gear up to keep you safe. They help you manifest well-being by allowing you to deal with a dangerous situation.
Fear of something which has not yet occurred such as an interview, date, bill, or response to a request are called "dirty pain" as they are fears we generate in ourselves without any external source. They are worries which do not help us and take our energies away from positive actions. In the short term they can help us to reduce our emotional response and might nudge things onto a more positive course if they weren't already headed there, but once this is done, these actions become unhelpful and possibly a hindrance. For the manifesting process, this kind of fear does not prevent the manifesting to work, but it allows the conversation to manifest what is feared rather than what is hoped for. Imagine this like being in a room full of people and trying to talk with someone over the sound of other conversations. In essence what you want to manifest you are saying rarely and at a whisper while what you're afraid of you shout over and over again.
Manifesting supports can represent or reflect fear, but they don't feel it themselves. This means when we begin to create them, using our intuition, letting ourselves know what we know and beginning to bring this into being one piece at a time, what we are creating will resist our fear or reply back to us with an adjustment showing we are understanding the process differently from what is coming into being. We may try to make the picture with a dark or menacing background, but it refuses, turning lighter, adding peaceful landscape. Or we may try to make the image fierce, but it ends up looking compassionate and welcoming.
Once they have started working, they will also resist us fiddling with them as a response to our dirty pain. We can try to add/subtract things or make something new, but all our attempts fail or become such a struggle we stop because the manifesting energy simply doesn't match what we're seeing or feeling as an impending problem. If we are able to listen to this, step back and take in the fact our manifesting support is refusing to support us in our pain responses, then we can look for the root cause or trigger for them, which more than likely is not contained in the manifesting goal, and begin the process of dealing with them directly.
Manifesting supports are an amazingly effective way to get not only the most out of our manifesting efforts and improve our ability to succeed, but also open up entire new avenues for us to manifest in. They also offer us additional ways to examine our biases, internal monologues and narratives which might have been holding us back.
