Today’s guest is International Swimming World Hall of Fame Swimmer Karlyn Pipes - who has an amazing story to tell - from Junior Olympic Champion at age 15; to dealing with many years of alcohol addiction and then gaining sobriety; to then becoming the most decorated Masters Swimmer of all time - with 233 FINA World Masters Records to her name and counting!  She’s an author, a swim coach, a "Faster Freestyle Swim Clinic" inventor and leads "Aloha Swim Trek’s" in the ocean waters around her home on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Karlyn has an inspiring story to share, that all swimmers, be they Masters or younger, can learn from. We chat about her early career in US Swimming in the 70's, her journey through alcohol addiction and then sobriety, her marvellous Masters career and many successes and accolades.

Water is her life and she surrounds herself in it, but as Karlyn points out, her love affair with swimming has had many ebbs and flows, and it is heart warming to hear the relationship she has with the water now. No matter what life throws at her!
