Show Notes

Now typically in LegalTea we don’t tread on the same topic twice, but our next guest’s story was such a special one and gave us new insights into a topic we recently covered we decided to bend the rules again.

You see this week we’re sitting down with Amy Marren, a Double Paralympian Swimmer and Solicitor Apprentice at BPP University.

While most of us were struggling to wake up for our 9AM classes, Amy was swimming laps around her competitors at the Rio Olympics, and upon donning her cap and goggles has decided to pursue the relatively new qualification path of solicitor apprenticeships.

In the episode we discuss Amy’s life as a Solicitor Apprentice, the transferable skills her swimming career gave her to excel in the legal profession, and dispelling the  FOMO of university life when choosing the apprenticeship route instead.

Outside of Apprenticeships, we discuss about Amy’s disability and disability within the legal profession more generally, specifically how people can support and better integrate those with disabilities into the legal profession.
