Hey, what up everyone? And welcome to the daily drip. We don't rise to the level of our goals. We fall to the level of our systems, words that have stuck with me since the first time I read them years ago in a book that book atomic habits by James. I can still remember the day when I heard those words, riding home from a long trip down south in my home state.
And they are as impactful today as they were on that drive that weekend, we can never teach and train enough on the importance of habits. What I wanted to do over the course of the next two days is give you some tactics to go out and increase your level of discipline and effectiveness in your life and your business.
By touching on some very important habits over the next two days, we will break down a total of 10 habits that are guaranteed to increase your level of success. Think of. These habits as standards, things that you regularly do, these 10 things will put you on the best trajectory possible. So here we go.
Numbers one through five, number one, quit being a slave. I love this example given by author Ryan holiday on ordinary afternoon in 1949, the physicist Richard Fineman was going about his business. When he felt a pole to have a drink. Not an intense craving by any means, but it was a dis disconcerting desire for alcohol on the spot.
Fineman gave up drinking right then. And. Nothing he felt should have that kind of power over him. At the core of the idea of self mastery is an instinctive reaction against anything that masters us. We have to drop bad habits. We have to quit being a slave to cigarettes or soda to likes on social media, to work or your lust for power.
The body can't be in charge. Neither can the habit. We have to be the boss. Number two. Do the hard things first don't wait. Don't tell yourself, you'll get to it. Don't tell yourself, you'll get these other things done. And then don't whatever the hard things are. Do them now... do them first. Get them over with number three, feed the 1%.
What it means to feed the 1% is make a little progress each day, carve small wind. Each and every day carve em out. I think it was Hemingway that said the first draft event draft of anything is shit and he's right. Who cares? Who cares? As long as you are making a little progress each day, number four, be kind to others.
And just as important yourself as you navigate your relationships with others and yourself, remember everyone is doing the best. They currently know how. Including you look, people aren't bad. Don't beat yourself up. Don't beat others up. Be a friend to yourself and be a friend to others. Be a filler, not a drainer.
Be a font, not a drain kindness. Look, it matters. Kindness matters and it works. And number five for today. Be hard on yourself. Now sounds contradictory to four, but it is not. Let me explain. Make yourself do things that are unpleasant and difficult. This is the way to gain the upper hand of your natural self.
The part of you that seeks comfort and safety. If you are hard on yourself, it also makes it very difficult for anybody else to be hard on you do this strategically don't demean challenge. Enter the dungeon and build calluses willingly. Don't wait to be dragged there. Go there on purpose. All right, there, you have a guys numbers, one through five use today.
Use tomorrow. Just every day, really to remind yourself that what you do matters, but so does who you are and why you do it doing the right thing matters. Be humble. Don't worry about being impressive by doing the right thing. You will actually do more. A lot more impressive things in your life. Again, we don't rise to the level of our goals.
We fall to the level of our systems. Have a great one and we'll see you guys all again tomorrow.
