Hey, what's going on everybody? This is the Growthcast. My name is Dallas Pruitt and this is the Daily Drip here on the Growthcast. Writer, James Clear... He talks a lot about tiny actions. Consistent daily actions. He refers to these things as atomic habits. He actually has a book that follows suit with the same name.
An atomic habit is a small habit that makes an enormous difference in your life and in his work, he talks about this aggregation of marginal. This is best illustrated as he talks about how the great British CY cycling team, Olympic cycling team was completely turned around by focusing on 1% improvements in every area.
Now, that might sound small but clear. Emphasizes that repetitive actions accumulate and add up in big ways over. With this exact idea at the forefront of today's Drip, here's the invite. As we lead into a new year, don't promise yourself that you're going to read more. Instead, commit to reading a page a day.
Don't promise yourself that you're going to work out more. Instead, commit to doing an exercise every day. Thinking big is fun, but it also comes with a heavy toll. If you can't also think better. Thinking better actually looks like dialing it back to what actually creates new identity. To actually what, to what actually creates change.
And that is thinking small. Thinking big is great but thinking small is where it starts. It's easier and the truth is easier is what we are all after when it comes to getting started and actually doing something. Because once you get started, the truth is then you can build, and you can start to think even bigger.
So, if you wanna play big in 2023, which I know we all do, then today's invite is to think small. The aggregation of marginal gains, it works in all things. Our daily consistent actions are what produce change in the long game. So, play big. By thinking small today and moving forward into 2023. Have a great day everybody.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Thankful as always that you join us every single day here on the Daily Drip. Have a great week and we'll see you guys back here again tomorrow.
