My name is Lucy and I'm Alex, and today we're gonna answer the question what do you do when you live in a hotel?

that's right, we're revealing Eloise. The author is by K Thompson and the illustrated by Hillary night. Publisher is by Simon and Tuesday, published in New York in 1955 this is an older book.

Huh mm-hmm K Thompson has been writing, was writing books for many years, but the question that I have for you, the first question I want to ask you, is who were the main characters in this book?

Lucy 1:19

the main character is Eloise. Another main character is nanny. There are supporting characters that live in and work in the Plaza hotel that's great.

What is the genre of this book?

Lucy 1:32

it is a fictional children's book and it is also a well-known classic children's book, and does it have a lot of pictures in it? Yes, there's even one picture where Eloise it shows her how to get all the way up to the top floor, and at first I thought that the page was ripped, and then I realized oh wow.

So what did you think of the title?

Lucy 1:58

I didn't really think of the, but the title didn't really make me think of anything, but the artwork on the cover told me that something was gonna be up with that way is so what, lucy?

why don't you tell me about the story?

Lucy 2:13

a little six-year-old girl named Eloise who lives in the Plaza Hotel in New York City with her nanny and not her parents. But Eloise causes causes a lot of trouble, like playing in the elevator and visiting all the specialists.

Alex 2:29

All the special rooms and guests are there yeah, and does she get herself in a lot of trouble yes yeah, did you like all the trouble that she got into? I bet you did. Did you? Did you have any connection with the character?

Lucy 2:45

I didn't really feel too much of a connection because of Eloise, because I'm a little older and Eloise is a city child and I live in the suburbs. She does many things in the Plaza Hotel that I cannot do in my house yeah, like what does she do that that you can't do at your house? Well, first of all she orders room service what really fancy room service that must have been fun.

Alex 3:14

What kind of stuff does she order?

Lucy 3:16

well, if she ordered like shrimp and stuff like that yeah, does she order pancakes?

Alex 3:24

no, does she order steak? Yeah but she likes shrimp. Huh, fancy food, fancy food, all right. Have you ever done or felt some of the things that the character did?

Lucy 3:37

I have never been to the Plaza and therefore I have never done any of the crazy things that she did. She watches boxing matches at a late late night on a TV with her nanny. She always orders room service and said charge it please does she do anything else? Yes, she went to the delivery room and looked at inside people's packages.

Alex 4:03

So she was checking out everybody's packages. Did she open them up?

Lucy 4:07

yes and what we're in them well, one of the packages we got. To actually see what was inside one of the packages a necklace really a fancy one.

All right, anything else she opened up, do you remember?

Lucy 4:23

not that I saw.

Alex 4:25

Okay, so what was your favorite part of the book?

Lucy 4:28

I have two favorite parts. The first is when Nanny always repeats things three times. For example, she said I would rather I didn't talk, talk, talk all the time.

Alex 4:39

I would rather I didn't talk, talk, talk all the time. Uh-huh, right, is that how you imagined it? Her saying it.

Lucy 4:46

Uh-huh. But she would say I, I, I would. Would would rather rather, rather I, I, I didn't talk, talk, talk all the time.

Alex 4:57

So she does a lot of that. Yeah, is there anything else? That was your favorite part?

Lucy 5:01

Um, yes, I also liked the part when Eloise was nodding to her private tutor. She repeated everything she said until he got so mad that his head popped off, his head popped off.

Alex 5:13

Oh my gosh.

Lucy 5:14

Well, his head didn't pop off, but he just got mad.

Alex 5:17

He just got really mad, yep, so he, she has a tutor.

Lucy 5:21

Uh-huh A private tutor.

Alex 5:23

So she doesn't go to school like you do? Uh-uh, okay, nope. So after you read the book, do you want to change anything?

Lucy 5:32

No, I wouldn't change anything.

Alex 5:34

No, you like it the way it is.

Lucy 5:37

Nope.

Okay, would you like to be Eloise?

Lucy 5:40

No.

Is there any parts that you'd like to be of Eloise?

Lucy 5:46

Uh, there is one teensy part.

Alex 5:49

What's that? She has a dog. She has a dog. I want a dog. Oh well, I don't know about that. We'll see. Now, would you recommend this book to anybody?

Lucy 6:02

Yes, I would recommend this book to kids six to eight if they are reading it themselves, but any age, any age kid under six if someone's reading it to them.

Alex 6:14

You like the book, you read the book, right, uh-huh. So what kind of person do you think this would be good for?

Lucy 6:24

Kids like Eloise and I would like kids like me and kids like Eloise.

Alex 6:29

So if you're six to eight years old and you're kind of adventurous or you want to be adventurous, this would be a good book for you. Is that fair to say? Uh-huh, all right, do you have anything else that you want to say about the book?

Lucy 6:45

No.

But you really liked it. Right, you're giving it a thumbs up, double thumbs up, double thumbs up. Now, have you read any of the other Eloise books? Because there are other Eloise books. No, that's the only Eloise book I read Okay, so this one is kind of the first of a series. She goes all over the place, uh-huh. I know she goes to Paris. I know she goes a whole bunch of different places.

And I know that there's a movie too.

There is a movie, and have you seen the movie?

Lucy 7:14

No, I only read the book.
