Activism Through Literature: Tayler Simon's Mission & Liberation Is Lit
THG talks with the incredible Tayler Simon, a passionate podcaster and the visionary behind Liberation is Lit. Known as the Radical Reader, Tayler created Liberation is Lit to do more than just discuss books; she aims to ignite meaningful conversations and cultivate a strong community of readers who believe in the power of literature as a force for social change.

In 2019, Tayler took the leap and launched a blog dedicated to exploring how the books she read influenced her worldview and inspired movements towards liberation. Through this journey, she found a vibrant community of like-minded readers who recognize the transformative power of storytelling.
Join us as Tayler delves into the mission of Liberation is Lit—not just as a bookseller but as a movement dedicated to equipping radical readers with the tools to become activists. THG speaks with Nathaniel Perkins, a.k.a. DJ Carolina X and his wife Sylvia Darlene. This entrepreneur and father started his career at the young age of 18 as a party promoter, specializing in events both in high school and college. He then went on to study the history of DJing and received his Mass Communications degree from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. DJ Carolina X has been in the industry for over 12 years and has proven himself to be a major staple in the Carolina scene. He is currently a resident DJ at 102.5 The Block and 105.3 in Charlotte, North Carolina. DJ Carolina X is known for his involvement with his community and creating experiences with the youth. He is also the official DJ of the Charlotte Knights Baseball, and a brand ambassador for Villian France Alcohol. He has produced for numerous artists in the Carolina area and has had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Migos, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Dababy, Kevin Gates, Post Malone, Future, 21 Savage, Meek Mill, and many more. Sylvia, a mother, podcaster, and radio personnel was born in the Bronx, New York but raised in Columbia, South Carolina. Her passion for broadcasting has opened doors into the world of media. She started off doing local interviews with our co-host Tamyia Allen under Carolina Queens, which led to her next journey starting her own podcast called the Say More Podcast and the Stay On Beat podcast. Both bodies of work lead her into being discovered by iHeart Radio and producing a midday show on 100.1 The Beat in Columbia, SC, then transferring to Charlotte, NC, to be on Streetz 103.3 radio station on the weekends. She has hosted numerous events and interviews, including Keke Palmer, Real Housewives of Potomac cast member Giselle Bryant, platinum recording artist Toosii, City Girls, and Michael Rainey Jr from the hit show Power.
THG Season 5 Intro Drops as of 10/20/24.
