Resilience and Persistence (Summer Service, June 20, 2021)
Jody Leader leads a virtual worship service of stories of Resilience and Persistence, inspired by Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. We are honored to have Liberian immigrant Konah Brownell preaching. Also part of this early-summer weave: Madeline Fine’s poignant photos of resilient injured trees; Gerry Leader’s tale of persistent osprey; the Spirit Women Circle’s recitation of Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise,” Emily Wheeler’s performance of gospel singer Merry Clayton’s searing ballad “Beautiful Scars,” and more. Susan Larrabee will be our guide as Worship Associate.
