Hey kids, let's talk.
SPEAKER_06All right, welcome to another edition of Hey Kids, Let's Talk. And today I am joined by three people in this office that smile way too much. See, see, I I knew I knew you would smile when I said that. So uh I'm gonna ask them their names, what what grade they're in, and what their favorite place to visit and why. So who wants to go first?
SPEAKER_01Me.
SPEAKER_06Oh, Nevea.
SPEAKER_01Um, my name is Nivea, and I'm in fourth grade week. What was the other question?
SPEAKER_06Fourth grade. What's your favorite place to visit?
SPEAKER_01Um, Indiana.
SPEAKER_06Indiana. Why do you like to go to Indiana?
SPEAKER_01Because I have a lot of family there.
SPEAKER_06Nice. And uh when was the last time you went to Indiana?
SPEAKER_01Um I think in August, I think.
SPEAKER_06Like two months ago?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Two months ago. Well, I mean it's like a month ago. Yeah. So nice. Well, Indiana. Where in Indiana do you like to go?
SPEAKER_01Well, my aunt, I think she lives in in Indianapolis. Yeah, she lives there.
SPEAKER_06Nice. Well, I've been through Indianapolis a million times, so it's a nice city. Alright, who's gonna go next? Pablo.
SPEAKER_02Hi, my name is Pablo. I'm in fourth grade. Hi, my name is Pablo, I'm in fourth grade.
SPEAKER_06Nice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, my favorite place to visit is probably Falwuton or in Pleasanton.
SPEAKER_06Is that in Texas?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_06What's there that you like?
SPEAKER_02Mahuelo and Nami.
SPEAKER_06I'm sorry, I didn't understand.
SPEAKER_02One of my my grandparents.
SPEAKER_06Oh, your grand you were saying it in Spanish. Okay. I don't understand Spanish. So thanks for interpreting for me. So you like to go there visit the family. What what do you do there that's so fun?
SPEAKER_02Um, there's a four-wheeler there that they let us ride, and they just got us there was just a mini Jeep there too. And we even get to ride pigs and horses.
SPEAKER_06Ooh, that's fun. I have to tell you a story. So when my mom graduated high school, I think there were like seven people in her class. And uh every year they would have a a f a class reunion, and it was on a pig farm. And I was like, every time we drove up, I was like, Oh, this smells so bad over here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, pigs do smell bad.
SPEAKER_06And then I would get used to it. And then one time I came home and my friends came over to my house and they were like, Oh, what smells? And I was like, What are you talking about? And they're like, You smell like a pig farm. And I was like, Oh, yeah, that's right. I spent most of the morning over at the pig farm, and I d I I guess it just gets on your clothes and doesn't go away. It's strong.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, pigs do smell bad.
SPEAKER_06So who's last? Who's last but not least?
SPEAKER_00Uh my name is Jeffrey, and I'm in fourth grade, and my favorite place to visit is New York, Rochester Rochester, New York. That's where I was born.
SPEAKER_06Nice. New York City?
SPEAKER_00Rochester.
SPEAKER_06Oh, Rochester, nice. Well that's a lot different than New York City.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_06But so what's what's so fun to do when you go back home?
SPEAKER_00Uh like hang out with my family. And like uh like when I was when I used to live there. Like I went to this like water park that was like near, and I used to like play with my friends there.
SPEAKER_06Nice. Can you pull the microphone just a little closer? Our air conditioning came on, so now it's a little bit left. Thanks so much. Hey, thanks for being here, Navea, Pablo, and Jeff. So um we are going to review last week's scriptures from Colossians 3 2, and that one says, set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. So have you ever thought this doesn't make any sense? Trying to make sense of something that doesn't make sense can be impossible. Why did that bad thing happen? And why does bad stuff happen to people who love God? Well, today we're going to look at a story in the Bible that doesn't make any sense. In other words, we're going to look at it through the lens of eternity. Okay, so today's scripture, everybody needs to say, Jeremiah.
SPEAKER_04Jeremiah. 29.
SPEAKER_0229.
SPEAKER_06So this the scripture this week is Jeremiah 29.11, and it says, For I know the plans I have for you. So this is how we remember it. The words for I know we're going to point at your brain. So point at your brain, and when you say point at your brain, you say, For I know. For I know. Jeremiah 29.11 says. No, just say the scripture. For I know. Okay, let's try again. Jeremiah 29.11 says.
SPEAKER_02Jeremiah 29.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no, no, don't say that. Say the scripture. What's the scripture for the what's the first three words that we do for the scripture? Yes, say that. Okay. Jeremiah 29.11 says.
SPEAKER_05For I know.
SPEAKER_06Now in the next part, the plans. So take your hands, your palms are facing each other, and they're a little bit spread apart, and you're going to start at the left and you're going to go to the right. And that's sign language for plan, but we're going to say the plans. Okay, so what words do we say when we use our hands like this?
SPEAKER_01The plans.
SPEAKER_06The plans, that's right. Okay. Jeremiah 29.11 from the beginning says, I know the plans. Now we point to God and say, I have.
SPEAKER_01I have.
SPEAKER_06Jeremiah 29.11 from the beginning says, For I know the plans.
SPEAKER_03I have.
SPEAKER_06And that's that's why we're talking to God, uh pointing to God, because it's his plans. And then I have for you. So point to yourself and say, for you. For you. Okay, from the beginning, Jeremiah 29.11 says, For I know the plans I have for you. Okay, Jeffrey, can you s can you read the entire verse for us?
SPEAKER_00Jeremiah 29.11. For I know the plans I have for you. Declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you a hope and future.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he plans to give you a hope and future. Okay, so we're gonna introduce the story with this song right here. So when I say the name Jesus, we are going to sing.
SPEAKER_04You know you make me wanna chop!
SPEAKER_06Alright, let's practice. Jesus!
SPEAKER_04You know you make me wanna chop!
SPEAKER_06Nice. When I say the word amazing, we're gonna sing.
SPEAKER_05Amazing!
SPEAKER_06And finally, when I say the word difficulties, we're gonna sing in the Bible.
SPEAKER_04We read a story about the brother of Jesus named James.
SPEAKER_06Everybody say James.
SPEAKER_04James.
SPEAKER_06He was probably the son of Mary and Joseph.
SPEAKER_04While Jesus was the son of God, and his earthly mom was Mary.
SPEAKER_06Can you imagine growing up with that kind of pressure? Why aren't you perfect like Jesus?
SPEAKER_04You know me on the shop. Kick my heels on the shop.
SPEAKER_06Oh man, I can't even imagine the difficulties.
SPEAKER_03Danger!
SPEAKER_06That would present the whole family was affected when the dad Joseph died. Another difficulty. Danger!
SPEAKER_03Danger!
SPEAKER_06The responsibility for providing for the family would have fallen to Jesus!
SPEAKER_04You know you made me wanna shop, kick my heels up and shop!
SPEAKER_06He did this too. He followed in his dad's footsteps and became a carpenter. But when Jesus left the family to do his ministry, the family would have been affected again. Another difficulty. The Bible says that James did not believe that Jesus was the son of God. What?
SPEAKER_05But then something amazing happened after Jesus rose from the dead.
SPEAKER_06He appeared to James. Whoa, that must have been cool.
SPEAKER_04And then James believed that Jesus was the Son of God.
SPEAKER_06He became a great leader of the church. That is amazing. Nice. And uh so the difficulties we face our tools, not excuses.
SPEAKER_03And when we we should look at our difficulties with joy.
SPEAKER_06I know. And we can be assured that God can use our difficulties to let people see Jesus. I push two buttons at the same time.
SPEAKER_04Jesus! You know you made me want to shout me.
SPEAKER_06In us, like our scripture said in Jeremiah 29, 11, what was it? For I know the plans I have for you. And his plans are amazing. I have to say, you guys are pretty amazing.
SPEAKER_05The end.
SPEAKER_06All right, so uh the brother of Jesus named uh the brother of Jesus Jesus named James, some some say that he was probably the youngest brother of Jesus. So can you imagine the difficult oh difficulty that it was when their earthly father, uh Joseph, passed away because it says in the Bible that after a while there were there was no mention of Joseph, so he must have passed away. Uh have you ever heard of anybody uh being like somebody close to you that has passed away and it caused some difficulties in your in your life or your family's life? Have you ever known anybody like like that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, my grandma.
SPEAKER_06Grandma same here. So when she passed away, how what was that like for you?
SPEAKER_01Uh no, like my grandma. Um she had somebody in her family that passed away.
SPEAKER_06Oh, okay. So so somebody in her family, did you did you ask her how she was doing through all that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but she just really missed them.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's that's for sure. I'm sure uh James and the other brothers of Jesus and Jesus missed Joseph very, very much. Pablo you had somebody that you were gonna mention?
SPEAKER_02I'm pretty sure in in 2023 or something close to that, one of my one of my grandmas died.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Was that hard for you?
SPEAKER_02I kind of forgot. I kind of didn't even know her.
SPEAKER_06Oh, okay. Well, I c well you had to know her a little bit.
SPEAKER_02I think she was my grandma Gloria.
SPEAKER_06Okay. Well, when my grandfather passed away, he passed away right before I got married. And but I was glad that he got to meet my wife, Miss Kim, before he passed. But when he died, uh, I was like, oh, that's the first relative that was close to me that has passed away. And I was really, really sad. But then he grew up, he had polio when he was a child, and so he had a very severe limp. And so then I when I so when I would close my eyes for a little bit, I could see him walking, and then when I thought about him being in heaven, then I when I closed my eyes, I could see him running in heaven, and that gave me good joy. Like it was it was a difficult difficulty.
unknownDanger!
SPEAKER_03Danger.
SPEAKER_06It's difficult when you l lose someone like that, but then you if you have hope that they have, you know, received Jesus and are now in heaven, that's uh that's a that's a good thing. So, um have you ever thought about what is some sort of difficulty that you faced? Oh difficulty!
SPEAKER_03DANGER! DANGER!
SPEAKER_06What kind of difficulty have you faced? Yes, Pablo.
SPEAKER_02Um my dad has I mean, my grandma's pr my one of my grandmas are like really old and she keeps hurting herself, so I'm kinda worried.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Well, what what can you do about it to get to have hope for that?
SPEAKER_02Pray to God.
SPEAKER_06Yep. And does she know Jesus?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_06Oh, that's so good. So sometimes you can when somebody in your family doesn't know Jesus, you can pray for them and talk to them about accepting Jesus and what he did for them on the cross. So that's a good thing. Anybody else have something that you you gone through? Pablo, go ahead.
SPEAKER_02My mom's also really blind, so um so that's a difficulty, yeah. Yeah, she can barely see. And she's also colorblind, so she can't really see that much.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Do you uh do you pray for her? Yes. Nice. That's that's a good thing to do. So anybody else have a difficulty that you've been facing?
SPEAKER_01Um, whenever I went to Indiana, like what I was talking about, um, I originally went there for my uncle's funeral, but it was really hard for my aunt.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah. Was he young?
SPEAKER_01I think he was like 62.
SPEAKER_06Okay. Well that's still that's young for me, because I'm almost 69. 62 sounds pretty good. But yeah, that's sad. Uh that's a difficult thing to go through sometimes. But how how can we know that God has a plan for us? How can we know that? Anybody have any ideas? Whenever he reveals it to us, how does he reveal his plans for us?
SPEAKER_01That's a good question.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_06That's okay. You don't have to know. Well, I can only tell you how I've experienced that. Sometimes you you pr while you're praying, you get a feeling. And if that if that thought is something that you have never thought of before, you can know that that's God. Because he is telling you something that you you haven't thought of on your own. And sometimes that's uh that's the way you can know his plans. Are are God's plans good or bad?
SPEAKER_01Good. Good.
SPEAKER_06How do you know?
SPEAKER_01Well, just sometimes to you they might not be good, but he always has a reason for what he does.
SPEAKER_06Oh so true. So true. And sometimes people get mad at God because they don't he he doesn't do things the way they think he should. Yeah. And some but does uh does that mean his plans are bad? No, no, no.
SPEAKER_02That's right.
SPEAKER_06And guess what? They're always his plans are always amazing.
SPEAKER_05I like it.
SPEAKER_06You guys get into that one. I like it. Alright, so uh somebody want to give a shout out to somebody in your life? Yeah, Pablo, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01My mom and my grandma.
SPEAKER_06Nice, nice.
SPEAKER_01Um, my mom and uh my little sister.
SPEAKER_06Nice. Anyone else? Uh Jeffrey, you want to give a shout out to somebody? Nice, nice. Well, I want to give a shout out to all of you. And the the dads who are sitting over here and the grandparents and all that. Thank you for coming to do the podcast today. And who said they were gonna pray?
SPEAKER_01Me.
SPEAKER_06Oh, Naveea, that's right. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Um do I start? Yeah, go ahead. Um, dear Jesus, I hope that we had a great time um being here and being on the podcast, and that it was a really fun experience and that you lead us um in good ways in the future and you keep us safe and just keep doing what you're doing, and I know that you always have reasons for what you do, so just continue with those good reasons in Jesus' name. Amen.
SPEAKER_06So good. Okay. Uh everybody say bye.
SPEAKER_01Bye. Bye.
SPEAKER_06You want to say bye to anybody specific?
SPEAKER_01Um.
SPEAKER_06You can if you want.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Probably everybody.
SPEAKER_06Everybody. Okay, say bye. Bye bye. Bye to everybody.
SPEAKER_02Goodbye.
SPEAKER_06Say bye to everybody.
SPEAKER_02Shout out to my brother. Bye.
SPEAKER_06Bye, everybody.
SPEAKER_02Goodbye. Bye.
SPEAKER_06Nice, nice sound. Pablo. Yeah, her blood. You're giving me feedback, brother.
SPEAKER_02I thought we I thought we would.
SPEAKER_06I gotta do the song one more time. No. You guys are awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh, I said awesome.
SPEAKER_05I like it.
SPEAKER_06Okay, bye.
