In this episode of The Quivercast, we sit down with former MLB pitcher, surfer, and surfboard shaper Daniel Norris @danielnorris18. Growing up in the mountains of Tennessee, Daniel had a very “non-surf” childhood—until high school, when discovering Jack Johnson and the film Thicker Than Water completely changed his trajectory. After being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays, Daniel did what any newly inspired surfer would do: he walked into a surf shop, bought his first board, and taught himself how to surf from scratch.

As his time in the water grew, so did his curiosity about surfboards. Surrounded by shaper friends, Daniel decided to shape his own board—and quickly realized he had a real knack for it and a deep love for the craft. We talk about that transition, creativity beyond baseball, and finding purpose outside professional sports. Daniel also shares a bit about life at home with his wife, pro surfer Sage Erickson, and the joy of becoming a brand-new dad. A great conversation about following inspiration wherever it leads.
