Thanks so much for being with us as we broadcast live from the gorgeous um Los Padres National Forest in the uh hills way north of uh Los Angeles is gorgeous up here today. My producer tells me it's hot down in uh LA. Um 97 degrees. That's uh that's that's warm. Up here, we're about 20 degrees cooler, so um uh it's a nice day, uh, maybe in the 80s here. Um anyway, um hope things are fine where you are weather-wise. Uh that said, let's uh jump into uh the days and really the weeks um investment sectors. Um the Dow up a bit today. Um uh it was down, yeah, I think it was yesterday, uh almost 600 points, uh, and bounced today 100 and um I think we're close to 150 points. Um, you know, uh the this war situation, of course, is uh affects the markets. Um when things went rough yesterday, it dropped a bunch, but uh the things haven't changed. In fact, they've gotten as in in my opinion, gotten worse today. Um more bombing. Uh this war is a long way from over. Um I don't know what I'm gonna talk to our friend Michael Letz in a little bit. Um uh I'd like to get his take on how nuts the people in Iran are, because I I can't imagine that Trump isn't gonna just turn the turn the the no the noise on. Um at any rate, the stock market is up a bit, um uh trading uh above 52,000. Um and uh while there are some people talking about um a uh setback, a pullback, and so forth, I don't see it, not in the short term, you know, maybe down the road a bit, but not not right now. The um uh precious metals were up. Uh they're still in the low uh $400, sorry, $4,000 an ounce range, uh 42 something, I think. Uh and silver's uh been lackluster uh over the last several weeks, uh uh still trading at about uh $60 an ounce, uh, which is uh, you know, it got way up there, uh over a hundred uh a little while back. I still think they're a good, I don't think the bull market and the precious metals is over. Uh I just had an online uh discussion with somebody on this subject. Um but I think uh I think we'll there's more to go. Uh so we'll uh we'll see how that uh works out. Uh the crypto is inching uh back up, uh Bitcoin uh trading at 63 and change as I speak. Uh but uh of course the crypto market uh moves um very you know every minute it can it can move. Um the other uh financial point is that mortgage rates are up a bit, which I don't like. Uh not good for the real estate market. Uh 30-year fixed is trading at about six and a half. Um so we're gonna have to wait for those rates to go down to expand the uh the real estate market. Uh joined as we are uh frequently by our good friend Mike Letz, the uh CEO of um Investusa.org, a wonderful nonprofit that helps uh men and women in blue, uh a former law enforcement officer himself. And uh Mike and I usually talk a little politics at the beginning of the show. And um uh Mike, I don't uh uh I just don't understand how stupid these Iranians are to continue, you know, throwing missiles at the U.S. Uh at some point Trump is gonna turn on the heat, don't you think?

I think we've already reached that point, John. I think in the last 48 hours we've lost over uh 150, I think it is, missile strikes, 80 the first time, 90 the second, that's almost 200 actually. And strategic missile strikes, and we're not talking about firecrackers. We're talking about major operations. Major operations are underway now, and uh it appears that the time has run out. And here's what's driving this, John. You know, you have what's remnants of the previous administration desperately trying to reach out, trying to cut deals, but it means nothing because it is apparent that the Revolutionary Guard is actually being successful in their coup attempt. And that is what they're doing. They're attempting a coup attempt to take uh and fill the power void and rule over Iran, and we're just not gonna let that happen.

Um I I just um it's just r uh uh I I have no other explanation than religious fanaticism. Um because they they somebody there has to know that uh Trump is not gonna sit by and as you uh note, almost 200 missiles already went, but I think a lot more is coming.

And I think it's time to put this thing to bed. I mean, I think Trump has gone out of his way uh to be patient to try and handle this with negotiations, but I don't see that happening, do you?

No, I I love the way you left it. They're welcome to uh call any time, and they're welcome to meet not with him, but with someone else. But uh as far as he is concerned, he can't trust them anymore. He doesn't want to talk to them anymore. They made their decision abundantly clear, and he's going to exercise and move forward on that premise.

Yeah. Uh let's uh let's jump to Maine. Any uh any thoughts on uh the developments up there, um uh Mike? Um I can't tell if anybody has uh jumped. I mean, I know there's a couple of people that have jumped in. I don't know Maine politics other than I followed Susan Collins for some time. But uh in you have any viewpoint on what's going on up there?

Yeah, they've obviously scrambled to find a less progressive candidate, but they're not being very successful. I think what it shows, John, is the Democratic Party is gone. It is now controlled by the progressive socialists or the communists, same definition. And they're gonna have a hard time shaking that image now. And I think what this happened with Planter is it shows the American people just how out of touch this new platform on the democratic side is. Anybody who has that kind of record should have known better than to put his name on the ballot to begin with. But yet he got as far as he did, I think it's scaring an awful lot of what I would call moderates who may have voted Democratic and are now having second uh second thoughts.

Uh you you you've got Maine, you've got uh t uh Telurico and t in in Texas, and this guy's several bottles short of a six-pack uh as well.

Uh and then you take a look at what they already have. Seattle, uh, you know, talk about the mayor, mayor in New York, and just the catastrophes that are occurring in those two locations because of the ideology and the philosophy of the uh mayors that are there. People are beginning to see what they're really all about.

She's a she's a piece of work, the mayor of uh uh Seattle, and I think if I'm not mistaken, I think I read a story that she just uh recently moved out of her parents' home. I mean, she's a grown woman. Uh you are correct. But uh uh this gal is way left. I mean, um uh several of these people uh that are now uh you know uh shining poster boys and girls of the Democratic Party are are operating left of Mount Saitung.

Yes, you're exactly right. And what they have done is the Democratic establishment had to kind of uh, shall we say, look the other way and say, oh yeah, they're Democrats, I guess we're gonna support them. Now you can see that the mainstream Democrats are trying to come out and say, no, we're gonna start distancing ourselves from them. They're in a real quandary. Because here's what is so ironic, John. The Democrats who are the best at stealing election, these people have learned uh from the best, and they're able to steal primaries. And so uh the Democratic Party is really in a total disarray and is collapsing very quickly.

Yeah. Well, um uh there's a small percentage of the of the American population that uh uh uh joins these uh these folks, but um uh you know this in my opinion uh uh um this uh traces back to a lack of education of teaching kids uh you know a generation uh ago, you know, what the Constitution was about or what the declaration uh uh the declaration of independence says. Um a lot of it traces back to this lack of um of of of real education. I mean, uh when I was uh in in grade school, which is a long time ago, but I had to I you know a yeah I had to recite the um US uh U.S. Constitution to get out of the eighth grade.

Uh yeah, and we all had to learn the preamble. We had to understand, we had the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, we understood what patriotism was, and we understood uh the true version of history. No, it has not been distorted. America has always stood for freedom and liberty. We liberated the world, fascism, twice. And uh, you know, that is the true heritage of the United States. But what we're getting now, you know, we just had the teenage takeovers. We've been talking about that, you know, they're taking over all across the country. And in North Charleston, South Carolina, we had them attempt to do so, and it was shocking the video, John. The uh young black females that were there were uh assaulting the white police female police officer with baseball bats. And uh the other officers around were jumping on them, pulling them off, and they would pull one off, and three more would jump back on. This is what we have uh accomplished by allowing that ideology of the Democratic left to prevail, and it's not anything that's pretty to look at.

Well, uh hopefully, I mean, my opinion at this point is that uh uh we'll hang on to both houses of Congress um unless something else pops up. But um uh I think the basic uh you know basic American um uh population uh feels uh the same way you and I do about this, that it's uh it's it's disgusting to uh uh to see this. Hopefully, um uh hopefully things will change. Um and uh a lot of these uh progressives that won their primaries a week or two ago uh are not gonna make it uh into Congress. I was explaining to him when I was in the eighth grade, which is a long time ago, folks. Um you had to recite the uh the preamble of the United States Constitution. Uh that has uh over the years dropped away, uh, but uh a new organization is uh bringing it back. Uh joining us is uh Stephen Ferry uh with um you know Citizens Academy. Uh Stephen, thanks for joining us.

Uh you're you're most welcome. Uh so Citizens Academy, we had um uh your cohort Ingrid on uh some weeks ago, several weeks ago, but r refresh our our our listeners' um understanding. What is the Citizens Academy?

Uh the Citizens Academy US is a it's a nonprofit, non-political group, and it's run exclusively by volunteers such as myself. We have a a specific goal, which is helping hundreds of millions of Americans achieve complete understanding of the preamble that you mentioned just now of the United States Constitution.

Uh and and and how do you accomplish that? I mean, what what does uh what does the organization do to make that a reality?

SPEAKER_14 19:08

Well, first off, the reason we're doing this at all is because we found out from serving over 500 Americans that they don't know or understand the Constitution and particularly the preamble. In fact, nineteen words out of the fifty-two that exist in that one sentence, they cannot define correctly or at all, even. Um so as a result, they're missing out on the six purposes that the founding fathers had for writing the constitution in the first place. And uh it's sort of axiomatic that if an activity doesn't know its purpose, uh then people invent their own and they start working across purposes and they don't achieve your goals. So what we're doing, uh John Locke from the English Age of Enlightenment, he was a key influencer for the Founding Fathers, he said that understanding is the highest ability of the human soul. So what we're doing at Citizens Academy is bringing about complete understanding on the basis that once people understand something completely, they can then exercise their own judgment to good effect. And when Americans do that in large numbers, things can only improve. That's the way we feel about it.

Um the United States Constitution is one of the greatest documents, uh political documents in world history, uh, without question. Uh several other countries uh seek to emulate uh the US Constitution. Uh others dictate uh you know dictatorships don't do that. But uh your focus specifically on the uh the on the uh preamble, um and uh you talk about six purposes. Can you share those with the audience?

Um yes, I can, just quickly. Um although what I would recommend is they do the guide to complete understanding of the United States Constitution because we walk them through the meanings of all the words in the preamble. So the first and probably most important purpose is to form a more perfect union. Um also establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our prosperity. And that's why they wrote the co the the the Constitution for the for the United States of America. And um go ahead, go ahead. Of course, having read those out, um I sort of put people in the middle of not understanding what the words mean. I'm sure some people will, but most people won't. And there's a reason for that. Uh something which is a natural de a natural occurrence when you have language. It changes over time. It's not anyone's fault or anything, it's just natural. And unfortunately the words that we understand today have meanings which are different from th those words when they were used two hundred and fifty years ago. Um I can give you an example if you'd like.

And uh Stephen, you were about to explain, uh, I think, or give an example of of one of the key words that uh folks misunderstand or uh haven't completely defined.

Um certainly. Um well if you look at uh the word welfare, which is in the preamble, um what do people understand today by welfare?

Yeah, it's uh it's government gifts. Uh to today that's what that means.

Exactly. And that's the definition that people have in mind when they read the preamble. And unfortunately, it's like a hundred percent hundred and eighty uh degrees wrong um or different from what people understood at the time that the Constitution was written. At that time, welfare meant creating abundances as a result of one's own efforts. I'm giving you my own definition, but in our guide, we give the exact definitions at the time, and we take those from Webster's 1828 American Diction of the English language. Um he he spent like twenty-six years writing it, learned something like twenty-six languages in order to write it, but what he did was he encaptured or he he um uh uh framed what the words meant at the time of the Constitution, which is absolutely invaluable. Um so our understanding today is different from what the understandings that existed before, and that really does sideswipe people. I had um a supervisor of education in a particular county um who was absolutely gobsmacked that he didn't under that he had the wrong definition for it. And he his his uh schools have a very strong civics program. He himself is very much a supporter of the Constitution, but he couldn't believe that he had a wrong definition.

Um it's you know it's fantastic what you're doing here. Now, as a practical matter, uh you folks have created a guide. Can you talk a little bit about that?

SPEAKER_14 29:46

Um certainly. It's uh uh it's available online at citizensacademy.us as uh electronic clipbook. Um or one can also buy uh soft or hard copies from the website or from Amazon. And it's a very colorful book, very simple, very fun to do, takes maybe two hours to completely change people's perspective on the preamble and therefore on the Constitution. Uh lots of color photographs. It's a it's a book, it's a um it's something you do either on your own, or you can do it better still with another person you twin up, um, or you can do it for a whole class, as some as some teachers are doing.

Um it's uh I happen to go to uh uh your website before the show, and the success stories of people that have done this booklet are uh jaw-dropping. They're just fantastic.

Good. In our current society, there is this is from a chap called the initials O N. In our current society, there are so many opinions of what is right and wrong for our country that it can be highly confusing when decided what should be supported. After doing the guide, I feel I can I can now look at information and make clear-minded decisions and have an educated conversation with others regarding politics and current states of affair in the US, with a foundation of our nation completely understood. I'm thankful that this guide exists and I will definitely be telling my friends about it. Um there's another one which is uh where two people, a couple, went through the guide with another couple, uh, which I can go into quickly. Um they were best friends, uh, but they had been at odds politically. The result of doing the guide exceeded my con expectations, says the person. We were from opposing political parties at the beginning, and at the end, we were not divided into parties or their viewpoints, but instead were in complete agreement with the purposes of the Constitution and in total agreement on its importance and the need to have it understood. The significance of the document and importance of understanding it just totally made an impression on them, as the truth always does. We now share a strong and enthusiastic purpose to share the guide broadly. At the end, they both thanked us several times for inviting them to do the guide with us. The girlfriend mentioned that she had been in despair regarding the country, politics, etc. She couldn't figure out what to do, and that this guide gave her hope. They're already thinking about people they needed to take through the guide. Uh and there's just so many stories like that, and that that's really what the guide is designed to bring about complete understanding so that people can start talking to each other, working things out, cooperating. And as the um founding fathers had as their first goal, to form a more perfect union.

Right. I'm uh um uh very f focused, among other things, on the uh disaster that has been um uh created in American education over the last decades. It is a um uh it's a cr uh literally a crime. Uh I'm curious, do you have um uh efforts or programs to get this uh booklet into the school system in any way?

Um absolutely we do. Um and we're about to expand that effort actually. Uh but certainly we need to get in early with the civics programs and the s and the um the teachers, the civics teachers that I've spoken to so far are very interested in and pr planning to proceed with implementing it. Uh the use of the of the uh the guide. And there also is for teachers particularly a um uh a uh an assist for getting their students through. The guide itself actually takes them through, but there's also a manual that helps soup uh teachers implement it.

Uh terrific. Now how now how I'm curious, and you and you don't need to share this, or it may not uh be uh you know particularly appropriate to talk about, but I'm curious how do you get to because I think this is so important. I mean the the whole thing is important, but uh needless to say, but I am particularly interested in trying to get some sense of sanity back into the uh U.S. school system. How do you reach the teachers, uh Stephen?

Well, uh actually it's quite easy. You just approach them and uh and then go visit. It usually takes a visit. Um why? Because they're all they all have the same purpose, really, which is to educate.

Uh I I go nuts seeing the percentage of people, uh, I see these things on TV, I probably shouldn't even watch them, but that are proud to be an American, and that and that percentage is uh disastrously low. Um, and uh uh to a very certain degree, being educated on what the United States Constitution and the preamble uh actually mean, I think would change those numbers dramatically. Anyway, Stephen, you were talking about uh bringing this to the uh educational system and and to teachers that have been uh interested. I'm I'm uh I'm delighted to hear that. Um and and they can just go to the uh to the to the website and and download it, or they can go to Amazon and and buy it. Is there is it free at the website and you pay for it at the at Amazon or is it a couple bucks? What what's the deal?

I see. Okay. Uh terrific. Well, um I I can't tell you how um um uh uh strongly I uh support what you're doing. Um the uh in my opinion, the the uh uh you know the the the country's uh understanding of its uh you know uh its basics, and you can't get any more basic than the preamble to the United States Constitution, have fallen like a rock off a tall building. And what you folks uh are doing is just um is just magnificent. Um is there a way to get this uh uh what into a whole school district or uh are there plans to um let me ask the question uh differently. What are your plans to expand?

Uh well we are uh starting to do podcasts, but we're also starting to do social media. Um I mean we've already had a lot of people put through the guide, um, and it it's very, very successful, but we're planning to go literally to reach our goal of a hundred million Americans who actually fully understand the preamble. And I do want to say that um it may look a bit uh uh dramatic, the problem getting people to understand the um the Constitution, but it's actually very simple. And what we use as our inspiration is um a quote from uh best-selling author Elon Hubbard. He said, Complete understanding depends upon freedom from misunderstood words. And this is a thought that echoes what many of the founding fathers, most of them, and many of their mentors, um have been saying for centuries, really. Um but what what Elon Hubbard did was he he didn't say you've got to make sure you clarify your words, but he gave a a procedure and a technique for really clearing the words so people get it. Um and that's that's really where the magic happens, and that's what we use in the guide. So I I don't have any I have zero doubts that we can be successful um in reaching a goal of a hundred million because the program uh basically runs itself and people have such big wins that they want to turn around and then uh do the same with other people, and it's a very easy program to implement, and um uh as a result, it's basically a movement that we're creating. And that obviously reaches into the schools as well. And and we do find that the uh the teachers are very receptive to this.

Uh well uh I would uh I would imagine that's the case, and I can see this is something that uh you know parents could even to you know twin up with their children and get and get through the um and get through the booklet. All right, folks, we are back. John Truman Wolf here with the John Truman Wolf Financial Hour. But what has happened to the American education system is a crime. I saw some study out of um Chicago and I can't remember the exact numbers, but the uh percentage of of kids that could read at grade level graduating high school was in the toilet. Um I don't think these teachers know how to teach. I don't think they understand uh uh you know what's necessary, as I was saying earlier in the show, uh speaking of the Constitution and and uh subjects like civics and um and history. Um I had uh I'm before the you had when I graduated um you had to gradu do this to graduate the eighth grade, uh go stand before the the class and um uh recite elements of the United States Constitution. Uh we just went through the 250th anniversary uh celebration a couple of days ago and um uh it it makes you it makes you at least it made me and I think it made a lot of people pause and think about uh what the founders went through. I mean we hear about that a lot, but if you actually stop and take a look at it uh on what those uh on what those men did that signed the Declaration of Independence, uh uh they were basically signing uh potentially uh their their death warrant. Um how George Washington managed to win that war uh remains a uh startling uh piece of majesty to me. Um I'm not sure we would have got you know beaten the beaten the British without some help from the French. Uh I'd have to go back and study that, but I know the French um uh provided some very needed help uh during the Revolutionary War, but uh when it we did. And uh America today is the uh you know the number one nation in the world. Uh we're not perfect. Um there are things that get done. Uh for instance, this this uh so-called spy initiative at the NDAA, the National Defense Authorization Act, uh, which uh authorizes the military and a whole bunch of things that are that are uh positive, uh has a section 219 which which um facilitates the uh the basically uh tying the US military to the Israeli military. I I don't get it. Um certainly if they need to cooperate, they can cooperate. I don't think you need to put it into US law that uh uh that those two um you know military sectors uh need to operate together. I mean it put it gives uh Israel uh a wide open shot at American intelligence. Uh and while in general that's good, um you know, I I I don't know. I mean there's a lot of negative um there's a lot of negative press on uh on Israel and Gaza and so forth and so on. I don't believe most I don't believe most of it, but uh it's not uh, you know, I don't want to our military is our military. It doesn't belong to Israel or anyone else for that matter.
