265- Humanizing Others is The Answer (w/ Jay Bakker)

There's two groups of people on both sides of the fence yelling from a posture of legalism; and it's killing us all. But people all share this common ground: we all need forgiveness because we all “know not what we're doing." Jay outlines the foundation all humans can stand on to offer love and forbearance to everyone, including people on “the other side” of theology and politics. He also reflects on his spiritual journey and shares why he feels increasingly distant from polarizing, extreme forms of progressive Christianity. Raised by Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, the most successful televangelist duo in the history of the world, Jay tells a bit of his story on how his beliefs and lifestyle eventually deviated from his fundamentalist upbringing, causing him to question whether he could even remain a Christian. BadChristian, David Bazan’s faith (like it’s any of our business), and atonement theory are other topics discussed as Jay and Joey talk a little about a lot.
