On the Bats Left Throws Right podcast we will look to explore and further discover recurring anomalies that are consistent among high level athletes within all sports. Every athlete who plays professional sports is a product of years upon years of hard work and training. We want to hone in on the different types of these training strategies which yield the best results for those who practice them. In doing so we hope to highlight a new branch of sports neurology that focuses on fostering neuroplasticity and the ambidextrous nature of athletes whose success is often a product of nature, nurture and a combination of both. Arkansas Razorback alumnus and newly signed Phillies player, Matt Goodheart joins the BLTR crew in a fantastic conversation that goes beyond baseball. Born into a baseball family, Matt was always driven to play baseball competitively at the highest level. After graduating High School, Matt played at San Jacinto Community College for one year putting up a .355/.464/.574 slash line before transferring to Arkansas University and becoming a Razorback. In 3 seasons at Arkansas, Goodheart slugged his way to 20 HRs, 98 RBIs and sprayed the fields with 137 hits. Matt talks about his upbringing, hitting philosophy, memorable moments at Arkansas, his love for his teammates and what he’s looking forward to next in professional baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies Organization.
