In Pursuit of a Better Human Story with Andy Schmookler

My guest this week is Andy Schmookler,  prize winning author, speaker and former radio talk-show host and former Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia and the author of several books on his articulate and well elaborated theories on the Human Condition, how we ended up as a species in such a state of dis-ease and turmoil and how the forces that shape our current dysfunction were inevitable and are still addressable.

Andy has lived a life dedicated to his cause of sharing these insights with the past two generations, a charge that arrived one fateful day 50 years ago, to which he has invested his life fully and left nothing on the field.

As you will hear, Andy was struck by much the same lightning bolt that I once was, and drank from something of the same aqueduct of insight that I recognise.  Our languages are a little different, and we have a few key differing intuitions about human nature, but I have taken the time to read portions of Andy's work and he is articulate, intelligent and pointing to something that is undoubtedly worth noticing.   

The result of his efforts were 6 books, which had some reception but less than Andy expected and less than it rightly deserved. 

We are a distracted species, living in overwhelming time.
