The Bums are back in action after a 1-month+ reprieve from hilarity and expansive knowledge of useless information. The front half kicks off with a smorgasbord of NFL updates, starting with the hapless Chicago Bears and running the gauntlet of Black Monday vacancies across the league; the Bums bid adieu to Bears former HC Matt “Zero Self-Awareness” Nagy, and former GM Ryan “Shitty Fucking Deal” Pace —the culling; the dismissed Head Coaching quotient and Over/Under; a walk down the NFL’s Wildcard Weekend agenda; Eddie & Rocky are reunited with a few obnoxious AF Kansas City Chief fans at one of our favorite watering holes; a debriefing from the NCAA Football National Championship game; Nick Saban may (and I repeat, may) have an actual soul; Big Jon Lester retires; before the Bums end the 1st Half with a speed round of sports celebrities “en agua caliente” (Clinton Portis, L.T.) and ring in the New Year with the first of two beer reviews — starting with a mash-up between Trillium Brewing and Dog Fish Head Brewing called Tru-Action, a Citra Mosaic IPA that measures in at 6.5% ABV (thanks McD).
The second half begins with a post-mortem salute to an impressive list of personalities who left our scorched earth (including Dan Reeves, Sam Jones, Harry Reid, Betty White, Bob Sagat, and the beloved John Madden); the Bums toast to the dearly departed with Tree House Brewing Co.’s ‘Old Hat’ American Amber Lager ( ABV 5.4%) as our medium thanks to Rocky’s favorite BIL (Boston Dough); the Bums compare notes on Holiday trips, activities (from Austin to Cancun); Paddy reviews his all-inclusive experience, and the Bum’s close as Rocky stumps on his favorite non-fiction reading material (“A People’s History of the United States” by Howard Zinn), which is compulsory reading for Americans and those seeking to understand America.
