Hello and welcome to English with Languissimo®, the podcast in English where I share stories of the highlights of my week in order for you to have a good time.

My name is Vanessa. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.

Let’s go!

The Voice of the Mild (la voix de la douceur)

We’ve had 3 mild days in the double digits this week. How fantastic! As a girl from the south, I would have liked the mild temperatures to never end, but I know very well that it is not possible at this time of year. What a shame! Well, at least, I enjoyed being outside doing some fall cleaning.

The Voice of Canada History (la voix de l’histoire du Canada)

This week was Canada History Week organized by the Canada History Fund. The theme changes every year. This year’s theme was the History of Black Achievement in Canada. It encourages Canadians to learn more about the people and the events that shaped Canada.

Some Study Points

-          “Double digits” usually refers to positive/mild temperatures above 9 degrees.

-          “I would have liked” means “j’aurais aimé”. It is the perfect conditional (also called third conditional). It is composed of “to have” in the second conditional and the past participle of the verb “to like”.

-          “To enjoy doing something” in this context means “en profiter pour faire quelque chose”. “To enjoy” (aimer/apprécier) is followed by a verb + ing.

-          “Fund” is both a noun (fonds) and a verb (financer).

-          “Shape” is both a noun (forme) and a verb (former/façonner).

Some Practice Questions

-          What would you have liked to do yesterday?

-          What do you enjoy doing?

-          Are you in good shape?

Ta da! That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this podcast. Subscribe to English with Languissimo®, practice, take care and happy Remembrance Day on Monday! Big hugs 😊
