Hello and welcome to Wednesday’s Words with English with Languissimo® which will help you improve your vocabulary so that you can communicate better in English.

My name is Vanessa. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.

Today, I will cover the difference between “trip” and “journey”.

-          “Trip” means “voyage”. It is mostly used when you’re traveling somewhere during a vacation for example. “We went on a trip to Europe” (on a fait un voyage en Europe).

“Trip” also means “trajet”. For example, “is it a long trip to Florida?” (Est-ce un long trajet jusqu’en Floride ?).

-          “Journey” also means “voyage” but it is mostly used in the sense of “cheminement”/ “parcours”. For example, “I am on a spiritual journey” (j’avance vers un cheminement spirituel), “you are on a journey to financial freedom” (tu es sur un parcours de liberté financière).

Some Practice Questions

-          Did you go on a trip over the holidays?

-          What journey are you on?
