Hello and welcome to English with Languissimo®, the podcast in English where I share stories of my week with you.

My name is Vanessa. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.

Let’s go!

The Voice of Half Truth (La voix de la demi-vérité)

Ahh……the world of sales…..It is filled with half-truths.

I should have suspected that having a third chance to go to the semi-finals was too good to be true….

They forgot to mention an important detail: that I had to pay a $4,000 VIP ticket to get it. That’s right. The $4,000 package includes a meal and a photo with Grant Cardone and Elena, other things and... a third audition!

Thank you but no thank you!

I’m not that desperate to be a public speaker.

I believe I have spent enough on this contest and workshop.

I’m going to keep my money to develop services to grow my business.

Anyway, I’m convinced that it will be a great experience. I will meet awesome people and I will learn a lot from it.

In the meantime, I’d rather concentrate on the present moment, and I’ll see what happens over there.

One step at a time.

To be continued.

Some Study Points

-          “To be filled with” means “être rempli de/d’”.

-          “To suspect something” means “se douter de quelque chose”. I conjugated it in the third conditional “I should have + past participle” (j’aurais dû + infinitive in French).

-          “To be too good to be true” means “être trop beau pour être vrai”.

-          “I’m not that desperate” means “je ne suis pas si désespérée”.

-          “To be convinced” means “être convaincu(e)”.

-          “I’d rather concentrate on” means “je préfère me concentrer sur”. I’d rather” is the short form of “I would rather”. It is followed by the verb without “to”.

-          “One step at a time” means “un pas à la fois”.

Some Practice Questions

-          Would you have bought the VIP ticket?

-          Do you think it is important to live in the present moment?

Tada! That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this podcast. Subscribe to English with Languissimo®, practice, take care and have a great Sunday! Big hugs 😊
