Hello and welcome to Wednesday’s Words with English with Languissimo® which will help you improve your vocabulary so that you can communicate better in English.

My name is Vanessa Rocket. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.

Today, I will quickly cover the difference between “to call” and “to be called”.

-          “To call” is a verb that is used when you want to call someone. For example: can I call you tomorrow?

It is also used when you don’t know a word. In that case, you can just ask: what do you call this in English?

-          “To be called” is used when you want to give the name or title of something. For example: what is your English workbook called? It’s called “Would you Like to Speak English with me?”.

Some Practice Questions

-          Do you still call your friends?

-          What is my English workbook called?

Ta da! That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this podcast. Subscribe to English with Languissimo®, practice, take care and have a great Wednesday! Big hugs 😊
