Hello and welcome to Wednesday’s Words with English with Languissimo® which will help you improve your vocabulary so that you can communicate better in English.

My name is Vanessa Rocket. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.

Today, I will quickly cover the difference between “estate” and “real estate”.

-          « An estate » can be two things.

1st, the land (and house) that someone owns in the country. It’s usually large.

2nd, all the assets (property and possessions) that a deceased person owns which is then divided among the heirs. It’s part of a process called “estate planning”.

-          « Real estate » refers to the land and the property that sits on it. Let me give you some examples of words used with “real estate”: a real estate agent, broker or auction, the real estate market, and a real estate investment.

Some Practice Questions

-          Have you heard of the fifth estate?

-          Do you invest in real estate?

Ta da! That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this podcast. Subscribe to English with Languissimo®, practice, take care and have a great Wednesday! Big hugs 😊
