You've been praying and praying and praying and it just feels like nothing's happening. Like God's not there. Or like you can't get through to God because nothing's changing. You keep praying but you keep seeing the same things over and over and over. You're praying for something different but you keep getting the same results. You're asking God to change you. You're asking God to
to bless you, you're asking God to change a certain situation in your life because you want it to go from where it is to where you desire it to be, but it just doesn't seem like anything's changing. Like the same things keep reoccurring. It's like you're in a cycle or some sort of pattern that you can't break, like a trap. It's like you're stuck in this repeating cycle of events and occurrences and life just...
continues to look the same. If that's you, then today's episode in the I Am The Possible podcast experience is for you. Today, I'm gonna share with you something that I believe very few of us believers have ever thought about, considered, or been made aware of. One thing that I have learned in my journey is that although we are a spiritual being,
we are indeed having a very human experience, meaning we are still subject to the laws that govern this physical body, one of which is the brain. Today, I'm gonna be diving in and I'm gonna be drawing a connection between the way our brain works and the way our prayers work.
and how the two, if you're not aware of them, could be dueling in a sense. And of course, I'm going to share with you how to get them in alignment. So if that sounds like you, then I want to welcome you. Come on in. This is the I Am The Possible podcast experience. Yes, this is the place where
Treveal C.W. Lynch (02:24.43)
Possibilities become perspective. Guys, welcome into the space and into the place. First, wanna pause for the cause and you are that cause. You're the reason I do what I do. Thank you so much for being who you are and for being where you are because wherever you are, it's okay, it's good. God is with you, God is for you, God is in you.
God is instant and consistent in your life. And today, I'm going to be sharing with you how to become more and more aware of that and a little information that, again, I don't know if we really entertain this very much, but I know that we certainly should be. All right, guys, let's jump into it. The problem. You pray, pray, pray.
and you keep getting the same. The first thing that I want to share with you today, and I'm going to make this episode super simple. I'm going to be using one example. I'm going to read something to you and share something with you that I think is going to open up some, just open up the imagination. It's going to open up the mind and the brain. It's going to open up some things for you and it's going to help you to
pray in an entirely different way, okay? And so I wanted to entitle this one, or I wanted to kind of open up with you're praying the wrong way. And I don't think that's true. I think if you have a sincere heart, clear intentions, and you are speaking to the divine, you are speaking to God, you are interacting with God, I don't think there's a wrong way to do it.
But I do think that there is a better way, a more intentional way, a more advantageous way, a more productive way, a way that creates and causes the change that you so desperately desire and you deserve. So I wanna open up with a story. Recently,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (04:46.048)
And it's actually not been recently since this has started, but recently my wife has been entertaining the idea of a new car. She has a really great car right now and so great that the car lot continues to reach out. Hey, would you like to trade that car back in for another car? Hey, would you like to trade that car back in for another car? They keep bugging her, bugging her, bugging her. And that's why I said,
It's been going on for quite some time, but just recently she's really started to consider it. And so she, you know, followed up with the, with the guy cause he kept bugging him, kept bugging her. Reminds me of the old scripture about the, about the judge and the woman that just kept pestering him. Right. It's like, will you please just give this woman what she wants or she's going to like wear me down and just bug me to death. So there is some.
There is something to that story. If you are consistent with your request of somebody, maybe that's a great formula for getting what you want. anyway, back to the story. So they've been reaching out over and over and over. And so she finally said, hey, you know what? Maybe I should. These are some pros. These are some cons. Let me look further into it. So there's one particular car that she was considering trading her current car in for.
Hey, if we can get the right deal, if it makes sense financially, I like this particular car. And I'm careful not to share her information on the podcast because I've not gotten permission to share a lot of the details. And you know, she's more of a private person. So I don't want to share all the details about this situation, but we'll just keep it very generic. So she has a current car that has great value that's wanted by the car lot. She has her eye on this other car.
that she would be okay with trading in for if it all made sense. So she goes down to the car lot to test drive some of these cars. And because we're in conversation about the car, this particular car gets on the mind. And as I always say, stick with me, we're going somewhere with this. This particular car is now on my mind. And don't you know it, everywhere I go.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (07:10.744)
whether it's down to the park to run. When I went down to the park to run after having this conversation with her, I think I saw about four of these particular cars. I took pictures because I thought it was extremely funny. It's like, man, life is, life does that, right? It's like as soon as something's on your mind, you start to see it everywhere. They've always been there, but now they're like in your view. They're a part of your awareness now. Everywhere you go, you keep seeing the same thing. So now this particular car, it's on my radar now.
So I saw forward at the park that I run at, everywhere I go, went to a different, I went to a service a couple of weeks ago out in Beverly Hills and like everywhere I went, right? There was this particular vehicle in front of me. And till this day, everywhere I go, I keep seeing this vehicle. This vehicle parks out in front of the house and you're getting my point, right? Everywhere I go, I keep seeing the same vehicle.
And it's like, yo man, this vehicle has been around forever. In fact, my son has one. My oldest son has one of these cars. Why hasn't it been on my radar? It's now on my radar because I've given emotional, or I've made an emotional investment. have began to focus on this particular vehicle.
through conversations with my wife, through the activation of my own imagination, because I'm thinking, how does she look in it? What does the interior look like? I was looking it up online, right? So your mind starts to go to work to think about the what ifs. What if she gets it? Is it gonna fit this or fit that? Is it gonna be comfortable? Yada, yada, yada. You get my point. I start to engage with this vehicle. So now everywhere I go, I keep seeing
the same vehicle. So how does this relate to prayer? See, I think many times, no, excuse me, in fact, I know many times our perspective of ourselves and of God in our times of prayer are preventing us from becoming aware of the answers
Treveal C.W. Lynch (09:37.208)
that are right in front of our face. This is how it works. You've heard the term before, perspective is everything. It really is. Because your perspective is giving way to focus. The way you see God, the perspective you have of God is creating a focus. And the perspective you have of yourself is creating a focus. Just like I was allowing that
I was entertaining that car to be a part of our family, to be a part of something that we own. I could see it in the parking lot. I can see it in our driveway. I was starting to entertain my wife owning it. The mind will tune in on something and begin to write narrative stories, engage the imagination, emotions, feelings, thoughts, words. You're engaging your entire being.
around this particular thing? Well, in prayer, if you are carrying a perspective of God that's working against your request and you're holding a perspective of yourself that goes against your request, you can pray, pray, pray all day long and you'll never come into an awareness of what's already been done. Many times we're praying for something that's right in front of us.
but we're not aware of it because the perspectives that we have of both God and of self prevents us. It blinds us. We overlook it. Just like I used to overlook the car, now I can't miss it. It's like it's chasing me down everywhere I go. Where the blessings that you're asking for, the breakthroughs that you're asking for, the things that you're praying for, those things, I believe this is my perspective because I've
seen it happen in my own life, which I really should have started with. The reason that I was inspired to share this episode is because I have seen more than my fair share of answers to prayer. Like I continue to see things change, evolve, grow, mature, happen. It's not all about getting what you want or God's. No, it's about praying in an effective way. It's about
Treveal C.W. Lynch (11:59.092)
not being frustrated with God, not being frustrated with yourself, not being frustrated with the process of prayer, not calling prayer boring, not pushing prayer to the side because you don't think that it's going to work anymore. Prayer is so integral. It's such an intricate or an integral part. Maybe I'm not using the right words, but it's a very important part of our lives and we shouldn't throw it away. We shouldn't cast it away because it's not working for us.
And so a part of what I'm going to share with you is to help you to really re-engage prayer from a whole new perspective. So what do I mean by a perspective of God or a perspective of yourself that might not be working for you? Well, number one, sometimes in our culture, God has been made to be a man. Whether it's on TikTok or Instagram, with AI, we can create all of these God-like
images or even before AI and before technology, God was given a masculine. It's He. We talk about the man upstairs. We talk about Father God. Everything, our language, our images, our paintings, everything goes to the masculine. Everything goes to a man. So one of the images that we have of God that we may not be aware of is that we see God as
this man figure sitting high above us who is ready to judge us at all times. If we do everything right, just right, we might get through the eye of the needle, like the camel through the eye of the needle. We might just be able to squeeze through if we do everything right. Oops, but if we don't get everything right, he's ready to send us to hell. He's ready to punish us. That's a perspective that will set you up for failure.
or success, pass or fail, like you're in school taking a test or something. Your perspective of God is pass or fail. And when you are in a perspective, when you're wrapped up in that idea of God, a pass or fail perspective, it's hard to pray in a way that's liberating. It's hard to pray in a way that's going to get you to focus on seeing the things happen in your life because
Treveal C.W. Lynch (14:19.822)
On the flip side, we've been trained to see all of our failures, all of our flaws, all of our faults. And so we're going to God with this poor self-image, right? I'm a sinner saved by grace, a wretch, right? I'm a wretch. I'm a sinner. My good deeds are as a filthy rag. Like I could go on and on and on about how we diminish ourselves and deflate ourselves and deplete ourselves of worth and value. And then we...
Crawl to God in prayer with this old please please please mighty judge man Please grant my request You name it you frame it. It may not be to that extreme, but you get my point That's one of a million perspectives that will ruin your prayer life Who told like and and it's not that it's who told you I was a victim of it as well
The culture tells us, tradition tells us, dogma tells us, religion tells us. The paintings that we've seen tells us. The images online tell us. People in church tell us that God is this man figure in the clouds, like a judge and jury, like when we go to court. Many times we are taking very human images.
judges, men, et cetera, and we're applying those images to an unseen God. No one's seen God. So how dare us make these images of God? But we do. In our minds, where it matters most, we see God as a man in the clouds, ready to judge us. In our minds, where it matters most, we see God in these images and in these ways that
like precondition us to fail. And what I've discovered, what I've seen as I've evolved, as I've grown and developed in this, I've not perfected it. I'm just where I am, man. I'm just where I am. God is love. God is energy. God is spirit. God is the unseen God. So the first rule of thumb is I'm going to remove all of the images I have of God.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (16:44.302)
because those images box God in. And when you box God in, you have to play by those rules. So if he's a man, you're gonna give him manly, you're gonna give God manly attributes. If God is a judge, you're going to God judge-like attributes. Here's another one. If we are God's children,
And I'm not saying that we're not, I'm just making a point. If we're God's children, right, and I am doing air quotes because I'm just saying that's what we have said, right? I'm just saying, God created man and woman, God created, God didn't necessarily birth, again, but that's for a side note. I'm not saying that we're not children. I don't get into those arguments, but I'm just...
offering something different just to spark the imagination. Okay, take it for what it is. But if we are God's children and God is our father, for some of us, our human father sucks. For some of us, we do not like our human father. That's a bad look, as we say. And so now we're coming into the faith, especially women, especially all of my sisters out there.
who have had bad relationships with their fathers, he's father God, God is father God, right? The father, the son, male, male, masculine, masculine, father God, son, spirit, and you had a bad relationship with your father. So now you're supposed to, as a child, who is subject to a parent's rule and regulations and stipulations and...
agreements and contracts and laws, right? As a parent, they tell the child what to do, when to do it, how to do it until 18 or whatever, right? 21, the parent is law. The parent is watching over the child, right? Even we've got these terms, helicopter parents, right? My point is that if you're going into prayer and the only image you have of God is Father,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (19:09.474)
God and you're the child, it could be limiting and it could be.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (19:19.202)
that those dynamics could be getting in the way of how you're relating to God and how you're relating to yourself. And the things that you want to see change, the things that you want to see in your life, you don't really believe that you're going to get them. You don't really believe that that's possible for you because just like a human child will go to a parent, they go, hey, can I...
You know, can I use the car?
I know I'm subject to your discretion. And my point is, it's like the approach is, it just limits the experience. just does something, it dampens the experience. And here's what I wanna share with you in terms of this whole approach and perspective. And then I'm gonna share with you something about the...
about the brain and just kind of bring this all home and then give you a quick step is.
How do I want to this?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (20:39.308)
It's time that we start to pray like God loves us.
Like for real, like it's time for us to pray like God is instant and consistent. I heard that recently. I just love how that flows. It put words to something that's been deep in my heart for years. God is. It's not like how, you know how we go to church and someone says, hey, I feel the Holy Ghost. I feel the.
I feel the presence of God up in here.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (21:19.67)
Of course we know what they say. Or of course we know what they mean.
But I also, on the other side of that coin, I chuckle to myself and I say, well, of course you, of course, God's, you feel God's presence in here. You can't get away from God's presence. God's presence isn't here because you sang a good song. God's presence isn't in the building because you've done anything special. We're wrapped up in God. God is cosmic. God is, God is universe.
God is moon stars and like God is all. All emanates from God. All is in God. God is not separate from. All created things, we're all a part of. We're all from and we're all returning to. This all encompassing, this all inclusive, this all knowing, all being, all is God.
Some of you may agree, some of you may not agree. But I know what's not working and what's not working is subscribing to tradition, dogma, they say, he say, she say, it says, and continuing to pray, to relate, to interact with, to communicate with an unseen God.
in a way that limits your ability to live as God has desired and designed you to live from the beginning. Because there's a reason that you're leaning into this episode. There's a reason that this is, you know, hitting home for you because you've been frustrated, you've been tired, you've been exhausted, you've been pulling your hair out, you're at the edge of the edge as they say with
Treveal C.W. Lynch (23:25.038)
prayer with faith because nothing's changing. Let me share with you, and I'm gonna have to put my glasses on. Let me share with you.
what I meant earlier about
the importance of understanding and the connection between the brain and prayer. know, here in the I Am The Possible podcast experience, you know, we always teach, we always talk about the better we can relate to ourselves, the better we can create for ourselves. You know, relating to ourselves is a relationship, right? It's a relationship.
When you relate to yourself, it's about communicating with yourself for the purpose of building a greater relationship. And so how does any relationship grow and develop? By understanding one another, inquiring of one another, learning more about one another. And so as you build a better relationship with yourself, you're going to be able to build a better relationship with God and vice versa. So let me...
Let me share with you here. The writing is really, small, but I'm gonna go ahead and read it verbatim. But I think this is powerful and I think this is something that we don't always consider. Going back to my example about the car that my wife was considering to buy and how it began to be on my radar. Again, our problem that we're looking to solve today is that we're praying but we're not seeing the answers. Not that the answer isn't there, but we're not being made aware of the answer. Because we have...
Treveal C.W. Lynch (25:07.522)
come to a belief that nothing is changing. So let me read this for you. The reticular, let me start over. The reticular activating system, otherwise known as RAS, R-A-S, tells your brain what to focus on and what is important. If you shift your focus, you shift your brain's filter and it,
that the brain can only focus on one message at a time. Have you ever been shopping for new car and suddenly you see the car you've been considering everywhere? Sound familiar guys? Or have you ever looked for a new color to paint your house and then suddenly you start spying it in everything? This is the RAS, R-A-S.
the reticular activating system at work. The RAS is essentially your filter for your beliefs and what you deem important. And that has been largely determined by your, here it comes, your past experiences and beliefs. Think neuroplasticity.
This is where limiting beliefs come into play. If you had a particular experience that led you to feel unworthy or inferior in some way, your RAS will continue to filter every experience through that lens and you will only seek out or let in information that proves
confirms that feeling of inferiority and unworthiness, AKA something called the confirmation bias. That's a whole nother cognitive bias that I won't get into right now. But in other episodes, I have talked about it and I will continue to talk about it. But in conclusion, your brain is malleable.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (27:34.186)
and able to change and shift based on the information you give it through well-worn neural pathways, sophisticated filters, and subconscious subjectivity, your brain really does focus on what you tell it to. Here it is. And we'll find more of it.
The old adage, what you focus on grows is true. How does this apply to what I'm sharing with you?
How does this apply?
Hear that me?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (28:28.494)
kind of enlarge it there so you can see it. All right.
How does this apply, guys? This applies.
Because although you are desiring something different, the perspective that you have of yourself and of God based on those past experiences, those beliefs, those things that you have come to believe about God and about yourself, those things are still at work, They're still at work.
subconsciously. And although you want something new to happen, what you're focusing on is the perspective you have of God and the perspective you have of yourself. That's the connection that I wanted to draw for you. As long as God is some image that you've created that
not only is less than what God is, but is created in a way that
Treveal C.W. Lynch (29:46.346)
is limiting and demanding. And as long as you are the image that you have of yourself, something that's less than, something that's fallen, something that's sinful, then you're gonna continue to pray in a way that basically tells you you're not worthy of more. You're not worthy of different. You're not worthy of change.
You're not worthy of progress. You're asking, your request is change. God give me a job. God, you know, bless me this way, bless me that way. God heal this, heal that, do this, do that. But subconsciously, the focus is on limitations, lack, who you are not, what you are not.
What you don't have, like you're tricking yourself. You're going through the motions of prayer. But in essence, the way you set God up to be and the way you think of yourself and what you believe of yourself, you've basically set yourself up for failure. And you know, I don't believe in failure. I just believe that you succeed in ways that you didn't intend. But that's another show.
But for the sake of this conversation, you're setting yourself up for failure because your perspective, the way you see God, is that of something or someone.
that doesn't want you to have something unless you do something the right way, unless you say something the right way, unless you've suffered long enough, unless you've carried a burden long enough. I hear people talk about it all the time, oh, God's testing me, God's testing me. Again, man, I'm just throwing my hat in the ring. What does God get out of testing you?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (31:57.954)
I mean, you can believe that, I'm just pushing back. Where are we getting this from? And I know many will say, well, because it's in the Bible, the Bible, just because it's in the Bible don't mean it applies to you.
Even if you took Job, God tested Job, blah, blah. Okay, cool. He tested Job. What can you learn from that? But to think that because you're going through a hard situation and then you pray and then nothing changes, God's testing me. And now because God's testing you and you're not even feeling the presence of God, you're not hearing from God, you have no, you have nothing to pull from to say when the test is over, what's required of you in the test.
did you pass the test? So now God's a test giver and now you're some student or you're some whatever and you've got to jump over these imaginary hurdles that you don't know how high they are. You don't know where they're placed. You get where I'm going again. There's so much to unpack in this, but let me bottom line this. Your brain is set up.
to continue to be extremely aware of what you subconsciously believe. That's the bottom line. So unless you tap into your subconscious level of thinking by renewing your mind, now that is scripture, right? Let's renew our mind. Transformation happens by renewing of the mind, those neural pathways that we talked about earlier.
right, that neuroplasticity, right? That's how we renew the mind, by introducing something that interrupts the current pattern of thought and saying, wait a minute, for the last umpteen years, I saw God as a man, you know, sitting like a judge, and I crawl to God at the foot of the cross, and I lay.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (34:08.191)
all of my shame and burdens and stuff down and he's supposed to take them. And then five minutes later, you're still full of shame and doubt and fear. So how's that working for you? Again, you're setting yourself up. The perspectives are setting you up. It's priming you for pain. It's priming you for suffering. It's priming you for disappointment. God is much bigger.
than the images that we've made. Now I ain't read the Ten Commandments in quite some time, but I believe one of them, if not the very first one, don't make no images of me.
If you want to go Bible, I believe it says, don't make no images of me. The minute we make an image of God, this unseen God, no one's seen God. But somehow we can paint pictures, we can draft up AI, we can have our own figments of our own imaginations. Everywhere you look, there's an image of God, whether physically or figuratively, there's an image of God. And we are bound to those images. So how do we solve this? We got to take the lid off.
We got to take the lid off, man. God is bigger than what we thought. God is bigger than what you think. God is bigger and you are bigger in God for you are an extension of God. You are an expression of God. You are dearly loved of God, the beloved of God. You got to pray like God actually loves you and you got to pray like God's love is everlasting. Like it's always there. It's always looking to help. It's always looking to endure. It's always looking.
to save is always looking to support. That's what God is. God is a supporting system. God is support. God is service. That's what love does. No matter how you define love, agape love, this love, that love, however you define love, love will show up to serve and support something or someone, no matter how you cut it. And so please,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (36:16.396)
Step number one, acknowledge that you have a limited idea of God, a perspective of God and a perspective of yourself that's not working for you. It's punishing you. It's hitting the pause button on all that God has made possible for you. And it is as simple as saying, okay, as of today, I acknowledge I used to pray
with this idea that God is this. Today, I'm going to practice, I'm going to try out this simple prayer. God, give me a perspective of you that helps me to pray in a way that actually allows me permission to believe.
that you want the best for me, you have the best for me, you are the best for me. And so it is. Amen. When you pray that way, initially, the top comes off because now you're going to become aware of things that you've never been made aware of. They've always been there. God, give me this, God, give me this. You're gonna move from God, give me this to God, thank you that because you're instant and consistent,
as what you are, a God who supports and a God who is support, a God who is, see, I'm still practicing, a God who is support, a God who is service, a God who is love, a God who is in me, a very, hmm, hmm, I'm careful because I know everybody ain't own this yet. God is in your DNA,
Like that close.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (38:17.496)
God wants you to live.
because you are so apart.
God doesn't want nothing. God didn't want you to be anything less than.
than what he created you to be. And see, I still use the he. It just rolls off the tongue, just the he.
25 years of conditioning, 25 years of training. It takes time. So if anything, look at me, I'm practicing. That should give you relief right there. I can teach this, but I'm still practicing. We're all practicing. None of us are arrived, have arrived. We're just practicing. We're doing the very best we can do. But I've seen enough success and I've experienced enough

what we would consider breakthrough progress, answered prayer, however you frame it, however you name it. I've experienced enough of it where I'm very confident in the prayers of God. Thank you for the grace that comes with your instant and consistent presence. God, thank you for however you need mercy. God, thank you for the love, for the support, for the service, for the
Whatever for the provision
Jesus tells us man, don't worry about tomorrow. Don't worry about we but yet we worry because our perspectives cause us to worry
Treveal C.W. Lynch (39:59.485)
Yeah. So again, step number one, number one, if I'm speaking to you, step number one, are there more steps? Sure. I'm going to continue to make content on prayer. I'm going continue to circle back on prayer because I love to pray and it's one of, it's just so, so important. So I'm going to make more on prayer. ain't my last prayer topic or, you episode, but step number one, God give me a perspective. God, I'm open to a
perspective. God, I open myself up to an awareness of a perspective about you, a way to look at you, a way to think about you, a way to engage with you, a way to pray to you, a way to communicate to you, a way to speak to you, a way to feel you and to experience you, a way to be with you, to be a part of you, a way to do life with you. I'm open to a greater awareness.
what you are.
of your true identity, of your true likeness, of your true way of being God. I'm open to that.
so that I can begin to pray from a position of gratitude and thanksgiving and freedom and joy and happiness. And so I can pray from a position of the already, I'm already blessed, I'm already healed, I'm already good, I'm already whatever, I'm already forgiven if you're on that. I'm already whatever it is, it's already done.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (41:42.122)
It already is, it already exists. I'm just open to my awareness being expanded so that I can see what's already there. So I can see what's already in my life.
Whatever I'm in need of, I acknowledge that I'm not truly in need of it in the way that I've always thought about need. I'm in need of it only in that my awareness needs to be expanded so that it's included.
in my view.
in my frame of reference.
God, thank you. Thank you for wanting me to succeed and being my success.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (42:38.594)
God, I'm open to this. I'm open to this. I'm open to this.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (42:49.58)

He said, don't make no images of me.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (43:46.136)
Get the images out of the way.
They're in your way. They're blocking your view.
If you get those diminished images of God, in many ways those disrespectful images of God.
out of your way, just like your hand covers your eyes, right? This is what it looks like, right? You move those images from out of your way, boom. Now you're able to see clearly and all of the things that you've been praying for, they're all around you. You just needed to become aware of it.
