Today, if you are that person out there somewhere in the world, tapping in, tuning in, listening, and you're like, yo, man, I feel like I've reached a plateau, like I've capped, like there's a like there's an invisible ceiling.
That I can't break through. There's a there's there's something like I don't want to say the word oppression, but it's like it's like keeping me down. It's like a like a gravitational pull on your life experience and your life enjoyment. And you're just like, yo, what is happening? What's going on? I know that there's more to life. I know that there's more for me, but I can't figure out how to get that more, how to move forward. How do I tap into that more?
What is this more all about that I know in my heart that there is, but I don't know how to really get to it, right? Today I want to share something that I don't think we talk about nearly enough in this world, and that is labels. Labels, labels limit our lives. Labels put the lid on our lives. If you feel like you got a lid,
Like you can't break through that bottleneck, then it's probably because of some sort of label. Now, I don't have time to go into every single label that there is. There's millions of labels, but I want to drill down to some of the more widely used, widely experienced, widely subscribed to labels that limit our lives or put a lid.
On our life's experience. It limits what's possible for us. And it makes life mundane. It like it makes life boring. It makes life feel like you're walking through mud, like you're stuck. All right. And so, what do I mean by a label? A label is anything that we have.
Come to, based on our own framework, our own worldview, come to conclude about someone or something. I hope that made sense. Let me, let me, let me break it down a little further. Whether you know it or not, you have a worldview, aka it's a framework. It's a subconscious, internal framing of your world. And you're the only one that's subject to it.
Right. As the as there's been I don't know who coined this phrase, but there's one earth, infinite worlds. In other words, each one of us, we have our own world view. It's the frame in which we look at life. And you're only subject to your frame, to your worldview. That's why I can take a cup that's half, right, half, half full, or it can be half empty, right? Whatever you
choose to right but but but you can take a glass with some water in it and you can offer it to two different people one person says it's half empty one person says it's half full well who's right they're both right because it only matters what they believe it's according to their framework their worldview according to their perspective and their perception it's what's happening on the inside of them so with that understanding this framework or this worldview
works like a picture frame. And I'm just kind of building it up so that I can better explain exactly where these limits or these labels come from. So I'm gonna draw this. Hopefully you guys can see that. So imagine this was a picture frame, right? And on the inside, let's say it was someone's diploma or someone's picture. Or like for me, I've told my testimony about getting my trademark for I'm the possible
Approved, right? So maybe my certificate for my trademark is within this frame. If it's within this frame, all you can see is what's within the frame. But if there was anything on the borders written on that piece of paper, the diploma, the trademark, whatever it is, if there was something written or typed on the edges of that.
Piece of paper, you wouldn't be able to see it. It's there, but you can't see it because it's not within the frame. It's possible, it exists, it's accessible, it is there, it's real, but you can't see it because it's not within the frame. It's on the borders that's covered up by the wood or the plastic of the frame. You get where I'm going?
So it is in life. There are things that are available, accessible, experiences, all kinds of new exciting environments. There's a world of possibilities that are available. But unless you do the two things that I'm gonna share with you in just a moment, right? Because we wanna take the lid off. We wanna learn how to take the lid off.
Unless you expand your borders, expand the margins, expand, you're not going to be able to see what's there. And so it is in life. There are these things that are there, but they're not just going to come running up to you. They're not just going to come avail themselves to you. What I've learned is you're going to have to expand, expand here, expand here.
So that you can put yourself in a position to be able to experience everything that's been made possible for you. So, these labels that we give people and these labels that we give things, they're rooted in what's within our current frame of reference. Here is how your frame of reference is developed. Two words.
Both starting with the word E. All right. If you're taking notes, write this down. Environments, experiences. Many times we are not aware that we are developing a framework, a worldview since we've been born based upon the environments that we've been in and the experiences that we've had. And
We will then begin to label people and things, organizations, places based upon our framework. It's not totality, it's not complete. It's not true. It's what's true to you. And if you have reached a cap in your life, it's boring, it's mundane. I know there's more, but where is the more?
How do I get to the more? It's through expansion. The same way you developed a very limited boxed in worldview. A limited boxed in framework is the same way you develop a more expansive, a more inclusive framework and worldview by experiences and environments.
Now, here are some of the most widely used labels. Religious. those Christians, they are like this. See how that's a very blanket statement, a very generalized statement, in my opinion, a very stupid statement. those Christians. Do you know how many Christians there are in the world? I mean, like, really? Have you ever taken account? There's millions of Christians around the globe.
But we, based upon our limited framework, our current framework, based upon the experiences and the environments that we've had up until this point, we go off and say something like, those Christians. Same is true with Muslims. those Muslims. That's just like one area, right? Religions. those blank. You fill in the blank. And what it does is it limits your ability to experience and to go into environments where those people are and experience what's all, you know, like.
Experience everything that God's made possible. Because you're limiting your environments and you're limiting your experiences based upon the labels that you've made up about these people that you don't even know because you are operating through a framework, a worldview that's based upon your limited experiences and your limited environments. And this is a vicious cycle. Now, let me label or let me not label, but let me name a few more labels.
them black folks. Black folks are all like this. Them, them white folks, white folks are all like this. them Republicans, them Republicans are all like this. them Democrats, them Democrats are all like this. them people that live in South Chin South Central, they're like this. them people that live in the South, they they all are like this. them people that live up north, man, can't go up north because they because they they like this. It's very dualistic.
It's very dumb. It's very dumb. It's very, very limited. I'm not calling you dumb, but the idea that we, and I do it too. Okay, let me just pause for the cause. All right. I do it too. I'm not pointing fingers. I'm saying we, us. That's why I'm sharing this because I've seen it in my own life. We dare blanket statement generalize whole populations, whole religious sectors, whole
Cities and states, whole countries that we ain't never even been to. Because of the internet, social media, mom and them, daddy and them, uncle said, Your your your homeboy or your homegirl that ain't been outside the the limits of their own city, but they talking about how it is over in that other country. I mean, when we really zoom out and we really pay attention.
To the stuff that's coming out of our mouths, to the stuff that we're thinking about, the stuff that we believe in, the stuff that we subscribe to, without any real life experience, no, no, no real education in that given area. It just puts a lid on your life. And you're blocking, as we would like to say, you're blocking your own blessing. You're blocking your own miracle. You're blocking your own breakthrough. Because you are, you are subconsciously, unknowingly, like we all do.
Subscribing labels or putting labels, assigning labels to people, to groups, to places, making blanket statements, generalized statements. And because of that, we block our access to those places, to those people. And by doing so, we cap our lives. We put a limit on our own lives without even knowing it.
Let me let me break down some stuff because I always talk about real stories on this on this on this on this platform. Real stories, real solutions, all right? To get some real success.
When people say, them white folks, I can't say that. You know why? Because 26 years ago, a white man, a white pastor, said something to me that completely changed my life forever. Opened up my ministry, opened up what I knew to be my contribution in the world, opened up the very thing that I'm doing right now. I've been teaching and preaching and educating and informing and communicating since that man said what he said. But that was a white man.
How dumb of me would it be to say, white folks are like this. That's not true. That's so not true. I know some cool white folks. No, maybe some white folks offended you in the past. Maybe some white folks did something to you in the past. But that ain't all white folks. Neither is it any other race. Somebody might say, them Hispanics. them Mexicans. They are like blank, blank, blank. No, well, I can't say that. Because 20-something years ago.
It was a Hispanic man that took me into the hood and showed me what it meant to truly be about community reform, community love, community transformation, to not only serve a community, but to live in the community that you serve. He took me under his wing and showed me these things. I worked for him. He was a mentor to me. I can't say that all Mexicans are like this.
Somebody might say, man, all them Asian folks are like this. Them Chinese folks are like this. Them Japanese folks are like this. Korean folks are like that. I can't say that. Because I have a spiritual sensei, right? I have a mentor that still mentors me to this day. Every month we sit down and he mentors me. So I can't say all of Asian folks are like this because it ain't true. Not for me, at least. Because
I've expanded my borders, my frame of reference has been expanded. Not because I'm so great, or because I'm so smart, or because I got it all together. It was because opportunities presented themselves, and for whatever reason, I took them. And maybe you didn't take opportunities that were presented. Maybe you didn't. That's the past.
Don't worry about that. You're hearing what you're hearing right now. You can't change the past, but you can change what you decide to do about your future. You can change what you think about your past and how you feel about your past and what you believe your past means about you and what you're going to do because of it. You can change that. You can control that. So if you are feeling capped out in life, there's a lid on your life.
I want you to consider are there any labels in your life that you have that you've made about people or places? Like really zoom out. Like the world is not America, dude. News flash. The world is not America. News flash. I got a couple. there's some pastors in my church, and I know other people like this too, but man, that they come to mind. There's some pastors in my church.
Boy, boy, they travel the world. They travel the world. Since they've been retired, man, they've been traveling the world and they put pictures on Facebook and they share their experiences and they tell us where they're gonna go and what they're gonna do. They are world travelers. They can speak to what the world offers. I've not been to those countries that they've gone to. I only can look on the internet or talk to people that maybe have gone there.
But that's secondhand knowledge, secondhand information. They have firsthand knowledge, firsthand education. So our lives are really limited by the language that we have. And when you go into these new spaces and places, your language gets evolved. It gets expanded. You start to and not I'm I'm not saying like language like, I'm gonna learn you know Chinese or learn Japanese language. I'm talking about the language.
Of life, meaning you're you're not saying things that are limited that that keep you stuck. Negative talk, negative self talk, negative general talk. man, let's go to Russia. I'm just throwing something out there. Hey man, let's go to Russia and see X, Y, and Z. But you've been hanging around your homeboy and homegirl who ain't never been to Russia, and they didn't fill your head up with, man, you got to be careful going over there because when you go over there, X, Y, and Z.
Well, the people that's inviting you to go say, all right, well, you don't want to go, cool. They go, they have an amazing time. An amazing time. Their life, their worldview, their framework expands. They've got memories. They even met maybe some new friends. Whoo! Life is amazing. Why? Environment and experience. Those are the educators. And you have to realize: well, you ain't got to realize, you ain't got to do nothing. But I encourage you to consider.
The idea, the fact that your environment provides an opportunity for you to engage with new elements of life that become educators, that create experiences, that further your life, that expands your life, that opens things up. So that's it, man. If you have a limit on your life, a cap, a lid on your life, I want you to check your labels.
With the sober mind, with the the logical mind, that maybe, perhaps, I've been operating out of, talking out of, thinking out of a very limited worldview. And that's okay. Don't, don't, don't condemn yourself. Don't feel bad about this.
Our worldview, our framework is only as expanded as the as the environments that we've been in and the experiences that we've had. I'm no different. I'm fired up about this because not only have I seen it happen in my own life in like little baby steps, but I'm excited about it because with this awareness.
I know that I'm going to with intention and with purpose. I know that I'm going to begin to travel like I've never traveled before. I'm going to begin to go in places and spaces and meeting people that I've never met before. I'm going to continue to expand and grow my life so that it can represent like a good return on God's investment in my life. God wants us to enjoy our lives.
That's a news flash for some of us. God wants us to actually enjoy this experience called life. And what's on the other side, some of us think we know. I'm not gonna make that claim. I think, but I do not know. I hope, but I do not know. What I am familiar with is this thing that we call reality right now, right here. And I'm just trying to make the best of it. And I hope and pray.
That these things have helped you to give you something to think about, to consider, that will help you to improve your life experience. Remember, the world is not America. And America is not the internet, is not social media. Let's zoom out. Let's zoom out and see how big this thing really is.
Because if we are if we are on social media subscribing to to to to social media thinking that that's the world, thinking that that's how America operates, those are snippets, those are are our shorts and reels and and these little 30 second sound bites and 90 second sound bites. It might be entertaining for a little while. For some of us, it's it's it's it's completely toxic.
And it's draining us of our of our God-given energy and time and resources. For some of us, we need to put it down. Some of us, we just need to limit our exposure to it. And I know I have. I've I've I have put social media in its place. I won't go down that whole rabbit hole, but I mean, hey, there are some measurable things that you must do to protect this. And to protect this. Because this and this is all you have.
You can't control the world, you can't control people, but you can't control your mind, you can't control your heart. Even the word of God talks about standing at your heart as a guardian, guarding your heart, guarding what goes in. Why? Because the issues, the life flow flows from, comes from, springs forth from your heart.
So you can guard your heart, you can guard your mind, you can guard your inner world because that's where your emotions are, that's where your that that that's where your memories are, that's where life is truly experienced. That's where it's truly experienced. Life is not experienced in our physical conditions, not as nearly as much as it is experienced through our internal consciousness. What is happening within your consciousness? What are you thinking about, meditating on?
Processing inner talk, inner dialogue, what's going on in here?
I don't know how I got on that, but somebody needed to hear it. I'm gonna wrap it up. That's it. If you have a lid on your life, life is boring, mundane, same old, same old, rabbit race. we're not rabbit race, what is it called? Hamster wheel, right? Rat race, right? Same old, same old, same old. And you want to break the norm. You want to break out of the norm. You do that by sitting and saying, okay, this is the life I want.
This is the life I want. Yeah, actually carving out like 10, 15, 20 minutes in the morning before anyone else gets up, before anyone else gets at you. This is the life I want. Mm-hmm. And once you identify the life that you want, then you can leverage the internet. Then you can leverage social media. Then then you can leverage AI and say, okay, according to this life that I want, where are the environments?
And what are the experiences that's going to help me to experience and to live and to and to and to make this life a reality? That's a real simple game plan right there. But it starts with you being aware of where you are and where you want to go. So I hope and pray. As always, this has blessed you, giving you something to think about, giving you something to consider.
Let's get the lid off of that life, man, and let's go ahead and experience everything that God has made possible.
