What if the problem isn't that you lack potential— but that you haven't yet learned how to recognize it, develop it, and put it to work?
In this powerful episode, I sit down with Anthony Fisher, author of Hero Unleashed, for a deep conversation about MEN and their purpose, potential, faith, leadership, fatherhood, family, personal growth, and the very simple, strategic steps needed to become the kind of man you've always wanted to be.
In this episode, we explore:
🔹 Why every man needs an anchor — and why Anthony's anchor is his relationship with Jesus Christ.
🔹 How to discover your purpose and why believing your life has purpose changes the way you live.
🔹 Why potential is more than a compliment
🔹 The role of environment in personal development
🔹 Why communication matters so much to the success of your family
🔹 Why men need a vision for their lives instead of simply moving through life reacting to circumstances.
🔹 Why you shouldn't rush your life just because society tells you that you should be further along.
🔹 How to develop greater agency, responsibility, and accountability for your life.
🔹 Why becoming a better man begins with becoming intentional about who you are becoming.

hey guys, before we get into today's episode, I want to take a moment because I think it's very important for me to say this. Today's episode is going to be featuring an individual that I not only believe is going to provide a great deal of value to you.
But he's someone who has provided a great deal of value to me personally. I interview a lot of people, have conversations with a lot of people, but not everyone can say has influenced me, inspired me, connected with me, served me, shown up for me in a way that I can really say, This is a good man. This is a good individual. This person.
I can vouch for, I can co-sign for. I can, I can recommend. And I just think that that's commendable. I can recommend the man that I'm about to have a conversation with. I can recommend to you. I can stand by the words that he says because he's shown it, he's proven it. It's been who he's been since I've known him, and he continues to show up and he continues to be that man. So.
Just thought it was important before we get into the episode itself. I just wanted to pause and let you know, the viewer, the listener, that today I bring to the stage. I I welcome into the I am the possible universe and I share a conversation with you, with someone that I truly trust and I truly believe in. Just thought that was very important for me to share. There's more that can come from me.
There's just more of me that can be produced, more potential, more possibilities, more life, more achievement, more fulfillment. If you're a man that's come to a place where you're like, yo, I've been living and I've been doing what everyone has said I'm supposed to do, but I still feel like something's missing. There's still some dots that I'm not connecting. There's there's still some pieces to the puzzle.
That I haven't been able to put into place yet, today's episode is for you. If you are a man and you are seeking, what do I need to know? Do I need to understand? What do I need to take it to the next level? To really live out a life that reflects what I in my gut know is possible. I just know that more is possible.
I want to be a better leader in my home. I want to be a better leader in my church. I want to be a better leader on my job. I want to show up in a new way. I want to show up in a way that's inspiring. I want to contribute more to those around me. If you're that kind of man where you desire to show up, serve, and support in a way that you've never been able to, you've always wanted to, but you didn't have the information to be able to, then this is the episode. Lean in.

Treveal C.W. Lynch (06:38)
we are live man live on YouTube the tube and you are soon to be live on every podcast platform available to mankind because
Fish (06:51)
It's
Treveal C.W. Lynch (06:51)
that's how wide the I am the possible universe expands man this is a global thing and you are a global man so listen man I just want to jump right in but
Before we get into who you are and why the world needs to know you, what you got going on, I want to ask you a question that I ask every guest. This morning, you woke up and something came to mind and it made a difference. What was it?
Fish (07:22)
You know, for me it was really just just being thankful. Just being thankful.
as I'm aware of what's happening across the world, wars, rumors of wars, natural disasters, things happening here not only in the States, but also around the world. I went directly to just a sense of thankfulness. and I know we're we'll talk about a little bit about family, but
Thanking God for my family, for my wife, man, for my health, for my kids. the fact that I have work, you know, work that I enjoy, work that I can do. the fact that I can get on a podcast with you, my brother, and just kind of share my my life and, you know, what's been happening with me and, you know, hopefully drop some nuggets of of information and learnings, some wisdom, you know, just just thankfulness, bro. I just recognize
Treveal C.W. Lynch (08:11)
Yes, sir. Yeah, man.
Fish (08:14)
that time is short, time is precious, and
As I'm surrounded with a number of other brothers in my life, there's just a lot of tragedy that's happening across their lives, right? So for me, just thankfulness and recognize that I'm in a season and that seasons change. That's the way life is. There's good seasons, there's unfortunate seasons, there's seasons of trial, there's seasons, seasons of victory and joy. Right now, I'm in a good season, a season of thankfulness, man. So that's the first thing that popped into my mind.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (08:46)
Awesome, man. Awesome. You spoke on seasons. Someone's listening, someone's watching,
Fish (08:54)
Mm-hmm.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (08:55)
and they're in various seasons. One person's watching, they're in a season of growth and development. Another person's in a season of heartbreak, grief, trial, tribulation. What would you have to say, regardless of the season that a person is in, from your experience, what should they be most
focused on regardless of the season that they're in.
Fish (09:22)
Hmm, a great question. Regardless of the season that they're in right now, what should they be focused on? I would say every person I believe needs an anchor in their life. For me, that anchor is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Anchors are the things that hold us down. Anchors are the things that keep us steady. Anchors are the things that keep us rooted, right? So no matter
Treveal C.W. Lynch (09:46)
Yes.
Fish (09:47)
what happens in our life, positive or negative, whatever season you're in, you're anchored to a purpose behind who you are, what you do, why you do it.
so that will be the thing for me is is having a a foundation that you can always depend upon, that you can always go to, right? to even even in a way to give you perspective on life. For me, that is the word of God, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (10:14)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (10:15)
And and that is what anchors me. Anytime
Treveal C.W. Lynch (10:17)
Yeah.
Fish (10:18)
I'm going through some hardship, I know that I can go to the word of God. That's going to give me some some perspective.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (10:26)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (10:26)
Some point of reference of someone else who has gone through what I've gone through
or some aspect of that, right? And you can see how they dealt with it or not dealt with it, and what were the repercussions of their actions. So
Treveal C.W. Lynch (10:41)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (10:41)
for me, I think being anchored is really, really important. And I would also say not to anchor ourselves in another individual, another person, another human being, because when we do that.
They more than likely will disappoint us.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (10:59)
Mm.
Fish (11:00)
it cannot be our all of our strength. At times, for sure, absolutely. There's actually a verse in Proverbs that talks about a brother is born for adversity. So hopefully, in our lives, we have people who can pick us up, who can support
Treveal C.W. Lynch (11:13)
Mm hmm.
Fish (11:13)
us, right? Who can encourage us. Absolutely. But even deeper than that is we need a firmer anchor. And so I would say, what's your anchor?
What's your anchor? I know my anchor and I have a reason for my anchor, right? But but
Treveal C.W. Lynch (11:26)
Right. Right.
Fish (11:30)
once again, you know, I won't go too far into that, man. But having anchor I think is really important.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (11:35)
No, that's a great point, man. That's a great insight, actually. I mean, that that's I certainly didn't expect that to be the answer.
Fish (11:43)
Ha ha ha.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (11:44)
but yet as you were explaining it, it's so important that we are anchored and that we have a sense of stability that transcends whatever season we're in. Cause I think listening to what you're saying, the season can become overwhelming in the good or the negative, the positive or the negative.
And if your trust and your rest is in whatever is going on currently, you could be resting in the fact that, wow, life sucks and it's going to continue to suck. And
Fish (12:14)
Absolutely.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (12:15)
right, or you can rest in, hey, life is going so great and it's going to continue to go great. And one thing that we both know about life is it's ever changing. And so
Fish (12:23)
That's right.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (12:24)
as the winds of life change, that anchor is so important, man. So I just love that that insight. I know that.
Today is a day of insight. I know you personally, and I know the insights that you've given me one on one through me observing your life, through me reading your books, through me just watching your life's example. And what I'm most excited about today is pulling and drawing out from that from that reservoir, from that well that
Fish (12:57)
Yes.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (12:58)
that we call your heart.
And your mind, because I know that it's rich, man. So let's start off with giving us a little bit about just yourself, your background, who you are, where you're from, share a little bit about your family, maybe whatever you feel comfortable sharing. you don't have to get into many specifics. Lord knows what the internet today and the world that we live in, the
Fish (13:20)
Yeah.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (13:21)
world knows enough about you as it is. All they gotta do
is look up your name and they already know more than they need to know.
Fish (13:24)
no. That's right. That's
Treveal C.W. Lynch (13:28)
but yeah,
Fish (13:28)
right.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (13:28)
man, just just share organically whatever comes to heart, whatever comes to mind, what w whatever you feel is you know, relevant, necessary, and that you feel safe with with sharing.
Fish (13:40)
Absolutely.
thank you. Be happy to do that. So my name is Anthony Fisher. Born and raised in California. actually
Treveal C.W. Lynch (13:48)
Yeah.
Fish (13:48)
in the city of Pasadena. I am as of today, 51 years old, blessed to be 51, thankful to be 50.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (13:54)
Whoa Your birthday today.
Fish (13:57)
Not my birthday, not my birthday, but my birthday was
Treveal C.W. Lynch (13:59)
Okay, okay, okay.
Fish (14:00)
in November. But I am 51 years old. have
Treveal C.W. Lynch (14:02)
Okay, okay, I'm gonna
Fish (14:04)
I've been married now for 29 years.
To my wife and beautiful wife. hopefully we'll have a chance to talk a little bit about our story with three kids, three adult kids. So 31-year-old young woman, 27-year-old young woman, and a 24-year-old young man. just very blessed as well. I have my mother around. my father passed away almost two years ago.
And we are a very close-knit family. I also have a sister who lives in California, a professional artist in many different facets of of her career and her experience. And you know, still live here in California. had a chance to travel the United States as a as a student athlete for many years. And I'm involved in church, involved in my own ministry, helping men become better husbands and fathers and leaders.
See, man. what do went to school, all Christian schools. So that I think that's probably
Treveal C.W. Lynch (15:09)
wow.
Fish (15:10)
one thing unique about who I am is from the time I was out of the womb, I have attended Christian schools, Christian university, Christian education. and I have friends that I have de deeply love, deeply love and deeply appreciate. I have seen the hand of God move greatly in my life. And I am one of many men who just recognizes
what God can do in your life when you surrender it to Him. I am skilled in, let's see, design, graphic design, web design. It's really interesting as we live in this AI world, as a lot of that has changed and transitioned or formed to something different. But I would
Treveal C.W. Lynch (15:50)
huh. You're right.
Fish (15:51)
say that I'm still on the cusp of of technology. I do have an art degree in art or
I should say a bachelor's in art and a master's degree in education technology. So the blend of design and technology is the space in which I live.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (16:08)
Yeah.
Fish (16:09)
And then also in terms of how I connect with people, that that's often via
this desire, man, that that God has placed upon my heart
Treveal C.W. Lynch (16:19)
Yeah.
Fish (16:19)
since man early 2009 to to coach, to mentor, to to lead men specifically. Not women, I mean I do women as well, but God has given me a heart to lead families and men who lead those families into
Treveal C.W. Lynch (16:33)
Yeah.
Fish (16:34)
the thing that they desire to do, right? So really extracting
Treveal C.W. Lynch (16:37)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (16:38)
and unearthing their gifts so that they can lead well, right? And there's one thing
Treveal C.W. Lynch (16:41)
Yeah. Yep. Mm-hmm.
Fish (16:44)
to use your gifts
But there's one thing one thing to use your mind and to have wisdom in doing so. That's the sweet spot for me, man. So
Treveal C.W. Lynch (16:50)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Fish (16:53)
I am yeah, I'm like a unicorn in so many, so many different ways. I think many of us are, right, in our own way, man. But I love what I do, Treville. I absolutely love
Treveal C.W. Lynch (16:57)
Yeah, man. Yeah.
Fish (17:04)
what I do. Very
Treveal C.W. Lynch (17:06)
Yeah.
Fish (17:06)
passionate about life, very passionate about the future that is in front of me, and I'm excited, man, about the lives that I've been able to touch.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (17:16)
What what has as you s as you spoke about about your family, what what do you think or what do you feel, what do you believe is what has because as you said, close knit family.
Fish (17:31)
Yes.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (17:32)
I was meditating the other day on, and I don't know if I was I was journaling, but I was also kind of processing sort of some some marketing strategies on just some of the things that
I organically can offer through the things that that I do. And one of the things that came to mind was, and there was just this was just a a phrase. And this was kind of my like my thought process in that moment. I can't teach you how to be a multimillionaire because I'm not one. I can't tell you how to grow a Fortune 500 company because I don't have one, right? but
I can show you how to have dignity, character, integrity, a family, family structure. And I and I just started going through the things that I have been able to achieve and accomplish by God's grace that I continue to find to be the most valuable things when I am afforded the ability to sit with someone who.
Is honest enough to say what really matters to them and what they really desire. You find that it's not the money, it's not the fame, it's not the popularity, it's not the clicks. It actually is a sense of belonging and togetherness and humanity and dignity. I share that to say, what things can you extract, pull out, highlight for us, for the listeners, for the viewers, that has led to your family remaining tight-knit?
I'm I'm personally going through a season where I, as I call it, I had this illusion of this family staying a certain course and looking a certain way. And that's being pulled apart in this season right now. And so there may be someone listening that their idea of their
family is being pulled apart or it's been pulled apart. And
They are hearing that you've been able to achieve and that you continue to maintain a cohesive family, a a togetherness that so many long for. Just whatever comes to heart, whatever comes to mind, what are the contributing factors to that? What maybe are you guys doing, the practices, the thought processes?
Fish (19:58)
Yes.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (19:59)
What can you share with someone who who wants and who who longs for that?
Fish (20:04)
That's a great question. Great, great question. And I'm happy to answer that too. One of the things I forgot to mention too earlier in as you're asking about who I am is that I also have three grandkids. So,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (20:16)
Whoa.
Fish (20:17)
you know, and so that's been a joy as well. But in
Treveal C.W. Lynch (20:20)
Awesome.
Fish (20:20)
terms of your question, for me is I think there's there's a couple different pieces. Number one is I grew up in a family that was very supportive.
So mom and dad was very supportive. Anything that they desired, or anything that I wanted to do that could allow me to extract my gifts and talents or to exercise gifts and talents that I may have had, they wanted to, you know, get involved in that, right? And allow me to do those things. So that's number one. I think the other thing, too, I shouldn't say I think I know, is the fact that.
My wife comes from a very supportive family as well. So when you get what I received in my end, and then what my wife received in her end, and then be able to blend that together, our lives together, we're able to kind of see like what this thing could be. Now, there came a point in time in our marriage where we did have some difficulties, especially early on. I don't want to go into that, but we made a commitment that
We would become a family unit, a close-knit family. So that's between my wife and I, then also between my kids and myself, my kids and my wife, and then also collectively. One of the things that I did early on was
And I come from a very athletic family. So all of my kids played sports. I played collegiate sports. My wife was an you know an athlete as well. So one of the things
Treveal C.W. Lynch (21:52)
okay. Nice.
Fish (21:56)
that we needed to we we learned we needed to do was to find time or make time to make family time priority. When I say family time, that's gathering together.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (22:08)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (22:08)
That's
turning off the TV, right? We do meals together. We open up the Word of God together. And we just unplug from the world, you know, for
Treveal C.W. Lynch (22:19)
Mm.
Fish (22:19)
an hour or two and just focus on each other. There
Treveal C.W. Lynch (22:24)
Yeah.
Fish (22:24)
was a season of time when my kids were much younger, where I took one Sunday out of the month where we did not go to church at all, right?
The intention of that was for me to rise up as a man, as a husband, as a father, and open up the word of God to my family. So instead
Treveal C.W. Lynch (22:48)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (22:49)
of listening to the pastor at a church,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (22:51)
Yeah.
Fish (22:51)
at a location, I became the pastor.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (22:54)
Right.
Yeah.
Fish (22:55)
Right. I I became
that that person. I took on the responsibility to say, hey, here are the things that I believe that that we believe as a unit. So let's make sure that we prioritize this in our life. And we would literally sit down for an hour, hour and a half, two hours, just depends. And I would speak or preach or teach, you know, maybe 15 minutes, a particular chapter or verse.
Then as a family, we would talk about those things. That, you know, what did they hear from their from their little minds? What did they gather from this, right? What was
Treveal C.W. Lynch (23:28)
Yeah.
Fish (23:28)
the perspective that they had, right? And we just listened. And then once we completed that, we didn't have a time of prayer, but I think even more so, or in addition to, this was the piece that made the difference. After we had that time of setting our minds right, hearing what what the word of God had to say.
We gave everyone in our family, each individual person, so that would be five of us, a opportunity to speak about anything that they wanted to talk about. Right? So,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (23:57)
Mm. Yeah.
Fish (24:00)
daughter one, what's going on with you? How's life going? Right?
What's what are some the challenges that you have in your life? And we did that for each one of the kids. you know, son over here got you upset about XYZ because he took your whatever, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (24:16)
Yeah.
Fish (24:16)
And we talk about those things, right? So they learn how to relate to one another. They learn how to communicate verbally with one another. There are so many
Practices, not practices, but
By by by putting them in an environment, they were they were learning how to work in a in a system or in a society where differences
Treveal C.W. Lynch (24:41)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (24:41)
of opinion may have been established or created or or expressed, right? And they had to learn how to work through that. They had to learn and see, well, what did dad say? How did dad work through that challenge, right? They were able to see
Treveal C.W. Lynch (24:52)
Yeah, yes.
Fish (24:53)
the challenges that mom and dad had, right? When we were, you know, having some difficulties and they were able to ask us questions and we were able to be authentic about our response.
Responses, right? All of those things were important. And so
Treveal C.W. Lynch (25:06)
Mm.
Fish (25:07)
that that part was a part of the family unit, the expression of communication and
Treveal C.W. Lynch (25:13)
Mm.
Fish (25:13)
collaboration and working together and problem solving together was huge. And we took
Treveal C.W. Lynch (25:18)
Yeah. Wow.
Fish (25:21)
that with them all the way up into their high school years.
And now what's happening is that they're reaping the benefits of that in their own families, and in some ways
Treveal C.W. Lynch (25:30)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (25:31)
have begun to implement that in their families as well, right? So those are some
Treveal C.W. Lynch (25:36)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (25:37)
of the practices, or I'd say that's probably the main two practices are our faith coming together, letting the outside noise stay outside, not allowed to come in, and then bonding
Treveal C.W. Lynch (25:48)
Uh-huh.
Fish (25:48)
together as a family unit, man, to break bread, to open up the word, and to allow each person.
to speak on whatever what was on their hearts and then encourage them into whatever it is that they felt like they needed to do. We have always had a supportive family and that's what we did.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (26:07)
Such intention, man. Such intention. And v
Fish (26:10)
Very intentional, very intentional.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (26:11)
yeah, man. That that's the thing. And I see practice in that. You know,
Fish (26:16)
Mm.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (26:16)
I I see it not, you know, I mean, you know, as brothers right now, it's it's it's football season. I I don't know how much you get into football, but w like whatever sports like you mentioned, you know, track or running, being athletic as a family, whatever sports you guys played, the practice, the practice.
Fish (26:35)
That's right.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (26:36)
Practice. It's
like you win the game in practice. You don't win the game on the field. Technically, you do, but it's really in the preparation. Whichever team prepared best is the team best prepared to win. Right. And so I'm listening and I'm saying you took it upon yourself as a man, as a leader, as a father, as a husband, to be intentional, to be proactive. Cause you didn't have to do that. Like I I I hear proactive, I hear, I hear initiative.
I hear intention and purpose and vision because like you said, they're reaping the benefits from it. And so to the listener, to the watch, watcher, at least what I extracted and what I just wanted to highlight was the fact that what they're reaping now was because you made a decision, you chose to not be passive and to not allow pastor and them to be the only voice in the family.
Fish (27:32)
Absolutely, absolutely. Let me speak on that too. I want to make sure I answer your question even more so. So what what do I offer? What can I offer?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (27:35)
Yeah, please. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Fish (27:41)
Apart from my accolades, apart from the awards, apart from the degrees, the thing that I offer that I think is unique to me and my purpose, my place, is this aspect or this topic of leadership. I really believe that that that God has blessed me with the ability to lead well. And that's because I've been around some, in my opinion, some great leaders in my life, people who have invested in me, my father.
my father, my mother, my high school coaches, my junior high, you know, teacher, my PE coach in junior high, right? You don't need a lot, but a few man can anchor you, that word anchor, right? And build you up into who you're supposed to be. But I was also cognizant and aware of what they were doing and I accepted it.
I didn't push it away because leadership, especially when you're a young child, you know, a teenager, a young adult, you have to be willing to accept the discipline, right? The words of not just encouragement, but words of being able to do something a little bit different. Not telling you how to do it, but
Treveal C.W. Lynch (28:57)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (28:57)
giving you a pathway, right? On ways in which
Treveal C.W. Lynch (29:00)
Yeah.
Fish (29:01)
you could do it to see what your options are.
I would encourage any man who's listening to this, if you really want to know the impact that you have on your family, ask them. I sat down with each of my kids, my 31-year-old, my 27-year-old, my 24-year-old about 10 years ago, right? And I specifically asked them: Who do you see in your father? What are my strengths from your perspective? Right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (29:31)
Yeah. Right. Mm.
Fish (29:31)
So, as a father to you, what do you see? But then also,
as you see have seen me work with other people in life, people that we brought in our home, or people that I've shared my family with them, how do you see my impact affecting or impacting them? And each one of them were very clear, Dad, leadership. You know?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (29:56)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (29:56)
spirituality, right? For in our terms, Christian, Christian leadership, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (30:01)
Yeah.
Fish (30:03)
Doing the things that that God tells us to do, that Jesus has shown us to do, right? Living into that, not imperfection. So understand that. Not perfection, but to be intentional about being a disciple of Jesus. Each of them has said that. Right? And so for
Treveal C.W. Lynch (30:19)
Mm. Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (30:21)
me, I understand the impact.
That I have on my family. And if I can impact my family the way that I've done, I believe I can also impact the world as well. I think that's the thing that I offer that
Treveal C.W. Lynch (30:35)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (30:36)
is unique to me in my own way.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (30:39)
Yeah.
Fish (30:39)
But here's the other part about it, Trevil, is that I absolutely love it and I have a passion about it. Right? And so
Treveal C.W. Lynch (30:42)
Hm. Yeah, yeah. Yes.
Fish (30:47)
hopefully that answers your question just a little bit more with clarity.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (30:51)
yeah. yeah. Ab absolutely, man. Absolutely. Th one thing I I saw in that, and maybe that's a good segue, is you're able to articulate with such clarity who you are, what you do, what you offer. Where did that come from?
Fish (31:08)
Hmm, wow, that's a great question.
I think that came from
I think growing around pastors, preachers, teachers, I
have
Treveal C.W. Lynch (31:25)
Uh-huh.
Fish (31:27)
this fascination on people who are able to use verbal communication as a way to express themselves. I have always found that fascinating to me. So
Treveal C.W. Lynch (31:44)
Mm.
Fish (31:44)
I I I watch a lot, I read quite a bit as well.
And then there was some intention in terms of understanding that in order for me to reach or teach or to communicate, I needed to to learn how to do that in a better way.
Now I have my own style, right? I think we all have our own style in which we do that today. But I would
Treveal C.W. Lynch (32:08)
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Fish (32:10)
say those formative high school college years were really, really important to me that have shaped me to communicate with articulation. Now I don't always agree or think that, so I'm glad that you say that. And I've heard that other people say that as well. You know. but that's
Treveal C.W. Lynch (32:22)
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, huh.
Fish (32:28)
not something that I that I really, you know, is in the forefront of my mind when I'm communicating. However,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (32:33)
Mm.
Fish (32:34)
I have found the importance of clear communication. And oftentimes that comes to asking questions. I
Treveal C.W. Lynch (32:40)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (32:41)
I ask questions. I want to understand. I just don't want to hear. I just don't want to hear what you have to say. I want to understand it. And so oftentimes it forces me to communicate in a way that can extract the answer that I'm looking for. Does that make sense? I was a
Treveal C.W. Lynch (32:58)
Right. yeah.
Fish (33:00)
I was a high school teacher for three years. And
I was just out of college and I, you know, was always asking myself, how can I communicate better with my kids? How can I get them to understand what it is that I'm asking them to do? And the thing that came to my mind, this sort of statement was,
I need to teach in a way in which you can understand. Right? Just because we're communicating doesn't mean that we're connecting. Right? Connection is really, really important. So, in other words, if you were to write this in a statement, you know, communication is important, but connection is key. And my intention is to connect. My intention is that whenever I'm speaking with someone, they feel
like I'm listening. They feel heard. They feel as if Anthony can understand them or at least has a desire to understand them. And at the end of the day, if we want to form better relationships, better communication with our colleagues, with our spouses, with anyone in which we are in front of, we need to learn the art of communication. Right? And I'm still a student of that. I will always be a student of that.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (34:19)
Yeah. Yes.
Fish (34:22)
And I've you know listened to, you know,
The John Maxwell's, right? Or the Tony Evanses, or, you know, just people
Treveal C.W. Lynch (34:26)
Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (34:29)
who are great communicators and different styles. I've just been attracted
Treveal C.W. Lynch (34:32)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (34:33)
to that. And so in 2009, the Lord told me very clearly, man, that his desire for me is to is to coach, is to coach. And so with that, I sat, I just said to myself, okay, what else do I need to know in order to coach effectively? So that's a little bit of that story there.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (34:52)
I love that, man. I love that. Yeah. Forever, forever learning, forever. what do they call it? a life student. Lifelong learning, man. That that's the Yep.
Fish (34:58)
Lifelong learning. That's right.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (35:07)
So, so, so, so true, man. So so speaking of of learning, got a couple of couple of questions that I wanna kinda segue into getting towards your
your your new book, because I certainly want to highlight the book and do sort of a little well, not necessarily a deep dive, but as deep as you want to go into it, as
Fish (35:30)
Yeah.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (35:30)
much as you want to share without giving away all the nuggets, so that people still have a incentive to go and buy. but
Fish (35:37)
Sure, sure.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (35:39)
but speaking of learning, man, I know and I don't know how you feel about this. I I don't think we ever really talked about this topic. so
Again, man, never looking to offend or to go into those territories, just let it rip however you flow with it. but oftentimes I think to myself, people that look like us, not to play the race card, but just to keep it a buck. Sometimes people that look like us, we don't always get the language early on in life. And what I mean by the language is things like what you just said.
The art of communication, the importance of communication, the importance of articulation, interpersonal communication skills, intrapersonal communication skills, emotional intelligence. These are things that we flow in and that we love,
Fish (36:29)
Yes.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (36:30)
but our people sometimes, at least my story, when I was a young buck, mom and daddy wasn't talking about no emotional intelligence. We wasn't, we wasn't getting around in no circle allowing each other.
To have a safe space to be able to communicate. For you as someone who who now flows in that and who's able to coach in that space, from your experience, coaching, leading, preaching, teaching, take it from wherever you can, for the young black man that's watching, the young black man that's listening, the young brown man that's watching, the young brown man that's listening.
Not to ace out the whites and you know Asians and whoever else may be listening, but just
Fish (37:19)
Mm-hmm.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (37:19)
for this question,
I wanted for my black and brown brothers, taking from our context of of growing up and not having that language, what's one, what's one thing that you would share with them that would make the difference? Some people may say emotional intelligence, EQ, having that understanding of it.
is the game changer. Or someone else may say, communication. That's the game changer. Is there a game changer knowing that there's a million things that you could share with a young brother coming up that may be in a a tough spot in life, things not going the way they want them to go. They may be desperate, hopeless, struggling, on the edge, and they're trying to figure life out.
And if you were able to get through, make that connection with one skill that maybe they've never heard of, never been exposed to, were never nurtured, they were never, never coached in, but you had an opportunity right now, today, and they're listening and they're watching. If you could say, hey man, invest time, energy, even your resources financially, invest in learning, you fill in the blank.
What would that be?
Fish (38:48)
One thing. I thought you were gonna go somewhere else with that, so you kinda caught me off guard. But w this is good.
Well, I I think I think your environment is is really important.
So let me just speak to that just real quick.
what you see what you hear what you are surrounded around
even when it's out of your control highly influences you. It's that age-old question, right? Nurture versus nature, right? And there's natural aspects of who you are. but but your but your your environment plays a critical role in who you who you are, how you think.
And I think for me, that has been the benefit that I've had through family direction, the investment in my life. Family said, We're gonna put you over here and not over here. Because they wanted me, they knew what would happen if I go over here. And they just simply said, We don't want that for you, Anthony. We we want something more. And so they put me over here. If there is one
thing though for our black and brown men.
I think it's very important for you to identify who you really are.
And that's a that's a that's a that's a beast of a of a statement.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (40:33)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Fish (40:34)
Because life shapes us. Our environment shapes us. like I said, what we see and listen, what we hear shapes us.
But at the end of the day, you need to know who you are by your strengths. So I don't know if I'm answering this question directly. That's because that's that's a great question, but I believe that identify your strengths. There are going to be people in your life who are going to tell you who you are and what you should be doing with your life. But the more you know about who you are,
The better, hopefully, you're able to shape your progress and the direction that you take in your life. And understand that that is a that's a process. It's nothing that's gonna happen overnight. Your environment is important. You getting clarity as best as you can as you're going through life about who you are.
And then being intentional about
Staying true to the thing that you desire to do in your life. I know there's three things. It's not just one, bro. So I'm so sorry I broke that. But those are the things
Treveal C.W. Lynch (42:03)
No. You're right.
Fish (42:05)
that come top of mind for me. Those are the
Treveal C.W. Lynch (42:07)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (42:08)
things that have shaped me. And I'm not saying that I am the, the model, right? you know,
I'm not saying that I am the prototype by any means, but I have recognized that those three things have shaped me tremendously and has given me a life of fulfillment, a life of purpose, not just inside of me, but also externally of me as well. And I think that's why I feel so blessed, and that's why I believe that people come to me to help them solve their problems, is because I've had to walk that path as well.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (42:46)
Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you for sharing that, man. I always have a moment where
And even multiple moments where I I can I don't know how I describe it, but I can see someone watching and they're they're just asking without asking. Like like
Fish (43:11)
Yeah.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (43:13)
tell me, tell me, tell me what to do. You know? Tell me what to do. Yep. Tell me what to do. Yep. So yeah.
Fish (43:16)
Yes. Tell me what to do. Yes, I love that. Yeah. They don't have to say it verbally,
but you can see it in their eyes, you can see it in their actions. It's the things that's that are often not said. Right? It's the
Treveal C.W. Lynch (43:29)
Yeah. Yep.
Fish (43:30)
things that are often not said. And so you, you know, you know, you talk about this ideal of emotional intelligence, which I think is much broader than what we're talking about now, but it is a piece
Treveal C.W. Lynch (43:39)
Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (43:40)
of what you just said. Sometimes we have to learn how to read between the lines. If you want to be effective.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (43:45)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (43:46)
communicators, if you want to be effective in understanding people, the psychology of people, right? We need to be able to read between the lines. What are their what do they really say, but they're not saying? That they need to say, but they're unwilling
Treveal C.W. Lynch (44:01)
huh.
Fish (44:02)
to say. How do we extract that out of them? Right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (44:06)
That's right.
Fish (44:07)
And life can
teach you that if you're willing to listen.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (44:11)
Yep. Yep. That's so key, man. Yeah. That's so key. That that that goes back to earlier your intention. It takes the intention, it takes the empathy, it takes the time, it takes the unplugging from the norm and the noise to really sit with the person and to really to be to really be with them. And I think that's why your your family is benefiting so much because you were you were you were being with them. and
That's a gift that has always been a precious gift. But I think now in the AI world, the automation world, the the fast, quick, in a hurry, the overnight world, no dig on Amazon. But in this, get it tomorrow. Get it, get it at four AM. Get it, you know, world presence is at a all time premium. So yeah, man. Kudos and shout out and salute.
to you man for for making that investment.
Fish (45:13)
Yeah, yeah. The other thing I want to say too, as I was hearing you speak, is this concept of like delayed, you know, gratification. As you mentioned, everything is at our fingertips. We can get access to anything immediately. And that's not healthy
Treveal C.W. Lynch (45:29)
Yeah.
Fish (45:32)
because you are not able to dig deep in terms of why you're doing what you're doing. Like we need to ask more questions in our life.
We need to think deeper. A lot of people think the answer is on the surface. The answer is much deeper. If you do X, what's gonna happen with Y? Like, you know what I mean? Like, let's play this thing out in our life. And I don't think we do that. I don't think our youth does that. Right? And if we're not teaching our youth what that looks like and how to go about doing it, how to think for themselves.
But think
Treveal C.W. Lynch (46:05)
Mm.
Fish (46:06)
deeply, they will be always, they will always be taken advantage of of someone who's brighter, smarter, more skilled, more knowledgeable than they are. We have to learn how to ask more questions. We have to understand that when we do one thing, it's gonna have an effect on another thing, cause and effect, right? And I just see a generation that is often lost in that understanding because everything is so accessible.
They trust people too easily. They trust technology too easily. They trust
Treveal C.W. Lynch (46:34)
So Yeah.
Fish (46:39)
what they see on social media too easily. Right? And then if we go into the AI world, which are going on now, how do you know the difference between what you s what you see? It's similar. And it's only going to get the technology is going to get better, which
Treveal C.W. Lynch (46:56)
Only better.
Fish (46:57)
means our deception is going to get worse. Right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (47:00)
There you go. Yeah.
Absolutely. Absolutely. Mm.
Fish (47:03)
So my my intention, I think, in this season of my life too is
is this is this sort of thinking or phrase of just don't be deceived. Don't be deceived.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (47:11)
Mm.
Fish (47:13)
Question everything.
Right. It's an interesting interesting topic to me.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (47:18)
That's really good. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The that's a whole show all by itself right there.
Yeah. Don't be dis I like don't be deceived. Yeah.
Yeah. All right, ma'am. Huh?
Fish (47:33)
And don't rush. Yeah. And don't
rush. Don't rush to try to get to where you're going. I think that's one of the things that I you know have value now. And I think you probably would agree is, you know,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (47:42)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (47:43)
let life take its course. Don't rush to get to wherever you think you're trying to go. Because you're gonna miss out on so much learning and the process and the timeline in your life.
Rush to get married, rush to have kids, rush to get the degree, rush, rush, rush. You know, there's this pressure that we often put on ourselves, this pressure that society puts on ourselves,
right? We're trying to fast track everything now, and that's just not healthy.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (48:16)
Yeah.
Wow man. Yeah. Conditioned. Yeah. I as you were speaking,
Fish (48:22)
Mm-hmm.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (48:22)
I I took a a note. conditioning equals control. And just thinking of of the
Fish (48:28)
Mm yes. Yes.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (48:30)
more we're conditioned to be under this this imaginary pressure, like the pressure doesn't exist, but we're imagining that it does, because if we're always steeped in images and videos and clips and reels and snippets of what is
presented
as what we should desire and what we should pres pursue, then we're we're we're always in this in this in this hamster wheel, without without a cutoff switch, because we're choosing to steep in it. So again, going back to that unplugging, which I actually took note of as well, it's so, it's so key to to be able to unplug.
Fish (49:13)
Yes. Yeah.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (49:17)
Let's get into this book, man. I don't wanna I wanna don't wanna eat up more time without without giving some some some some quality time to this book. Hero Unleashed, man. Just share, man. Share about the journey. Why did you write this book? Where did it come? What's the origin story of it? Your intention. just let it rip, man. However, you want to share about it.
Fish (49:41)
Sure, thank you, thank you, appreciate it. So the book Hero Unleashed was a book that I that have that has been on my mind for quite a while. I mean years in the making, seven, eight years or so. And in those seven, eight years, just formulating what it was that I wanted to say.
And the the the title here unleashed, the subtitle is the definitive guide to helping men, husbands, and fathers, or helping men transform into better husbands, leaders, fathers, right? This idea and concept of leadership has just always like resonated with me, man. when I think of Christ, Jesus Christ, he was a leader.
He was able to influence his 12 disciples. When I think of my high school coach, he was a leader. When I think of my father,
he was a leader. When I think of my, you know, elementary and junior high, you know, teachers and coaches, they were leaders. I've recognized the importance of being around people who can help you grow.
You know, growing things change over time. And life is about change.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (50:56)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (50:57)
And I wanted to be the best version of the change that I could in my life. With all the hats that I wear as a man, as a black man, as a husband, as a father, right? As an employee, as an employer, all the different hats we wear, as a friend.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (51:18)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (51:19)
As a client, right? I mean, you name it, right? You can name 1520 quickly. And
Treveal C.W. Lynch (51:20)
Right. That's right.
Fish (51:25)
I recognize that I for me, I just wanted to be the best version of me.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (51:30)
Yeah.
Fish (51:31)
And oftentimes when I think about my heroes, I think about those that I grew up watching: Superman, Batman,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (51:40)
Mm. Yeah.
Fish (51:44)
He-Man, Black Panther.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (51:46)
Yeah, yeah.
Yes, sir.
Fish (51:50)
you know, Mr. T, right? They don't have to be all cartoons, they could be just fictional, you know, people,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (51:52)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Fish (51:57)
you know, like these are the people that influenced me. And when I watched those movies, they did something to me. They were ordinary men who disguised themselves as heroes, they knew their strengths.
Or they f they had to learn what their what though what their strengths were. They didn't always know what they were. They
Treveal C.W. Lynch (52:19)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (52:20)
had to learn it and figure it out. And I believe that applies to us as well. When you were born, you were born with innate abilities.
Your own weight, your own style. I mean, everything about you is unique. The word of God says you are uniquely and wonderfully made. Yes.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (52:38)
Yeah.
Fish (52:38)
But when you begin to have thought of mind, you begin to ask yourself, or you should ask yourself, what do I offer the world? Like,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (52:47)
Yes.
Fish (52:48)
where do I make a difference?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (52:50)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (52:51)
Right? And so, with that, I begin to look at my life.
And I've identified 10 core attributes or qualities that I believe every man, every superhero, right, needs to have in order to say that I'm a hero. Okay?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (53:10)
Okay.
Fish (53:12)
That's that's and that's what that is. So, what do heroes have?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (53:14)
Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (53:16)
What do heroes contain? What do they maintain? Right? What makes them a hero? That's
Treveal C.W. Lynch (53:20)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (53:23)
the question.
That I began asking myself. And there are 10 of those areas. The first one is your strengths.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (53:30)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (53:30)
You have to know your strengths, right?
You look at the story of like Superman, you know, his origin story, right? He came from up above, you know, was then deported down here on Earth, right? He had to learn
Treveal C.W. Lynch (53:45)
Right.
Fish (53:46)
some things, he had to figure out some
things, and he recognized, I can do XYZ. I got, you know,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (53:52)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (53:52)
X-ray, you know, you know, to see through things, or, you know, I have major strength, right? Whatever it may be. But he had to like be in an environment where it forced it to come out.
So we all have
Treveal C.W. Lynch (54:06)
Yeah.
Fish (54:07)
strengths. And I think that's number one. I think leaders personally, I think the best leaders are leaders who are able to lead based on their strengths. What are
Treveal C.W. Lynch (54:18)
Mm.
Fish (54:18)
they good at? What do they know? Right? The second one are your values. Every superhero has values.
Every superhero doesn't do what they do just because they want to do it. It's based upon something that's underneath the reason behind it, the value,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (54:39)
Yeah. Yes.
Fish (54:41)
the thing that they say. I value human life.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (54:44)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (54:45)
So if we take Superman, for example, he'll go out and he sees all this trouble in the world, and he'll go out and save one person because he values life.
So to the man, I ask you not only what are your strengths, but what do you value? What's important?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (55:02)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (55:03)
Your values are your treasures in life. What is the treasure that you have or you believe in? Right? What's the thing that is priority to you? What is the thing that you're willing to give up, willing to die for? Right? What is the thing that you say,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (55:18)
Yeah. Hmm.
Fish (55:21)
this is the most important thing or things in my life?
That I'm gonna stand up and put a flag on and say, I believe in this. And there's another part to this, so I won't go to that. Okay, purpose. I believe every man
Treveal C.W. Lynch (55:33)
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Fish (55:35)
has a purpose. I believe superheroes that they believe that they're a purpose, that they have purpose. When they look at their strengths and they look at their values, the next question automatically should be: well, why am I here? Why am I able to do what I can do?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (55:49)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (55:50)
Right? So that's the question of purpose.
I love the word of God and it speaks a lot about purpose in our lives, right? and once again I won't go deep into this, but every
Treveal C.W. Lynch (56:02)
Yeah.
Fish (56:03)
man needs to believe that he has a purpose for his life.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (56:10)
Yeah.
Fish (56:10)
You've got to believe it. If you don't believe it, then you are just another person living without any anchor, without any reason for being here. Water has a purpose. The birds in the air have a purpose.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (56:25)
Yeah.
Fish (56:25)
The house you live in has a purpose. Right? I mean, literally everything, your phone that you know look at and call and look at videos and audio, everything ever created has a purpose.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (56:38)
Yeah but yes.
Fish (56:39)
So you have to believe that you come from somewhere, and that that being, Jesus Christ, God, in my opinion, Holy Spirit, is guiding you into fulfilling the purpose He has for you.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (56:51)
Mm.
Fish (56:52)
Right? Purpose for me is critical.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (56:54)
Yeah.
Fish (56:55)
Because without purpose, man, I don't feel like I could offer any value to anybody. I believe I'm here for a reason, not just a season.
And my responsibility, man, is to get out of me what God has placed in me. Right. So
Treveal C.W. Lynch (57:10)
Yeah.
Fish (57:11)
I believe I have a purpose. If you heard me speak, and maybe some of this has already come out, I'm very passionate. I'm very passionate, right? Very animated, right? I
Treveal C.W. Lynch (57:17)
Yeah yeah, yes, yes.
Fish (57:22)
think that every man needs to have passion. and and and I have seen in life where we've been beaten up so much
Treveal C.W. Lynch (57:29)
Mm.
Fish (57:30)
about who we who are not or who people want us to be.
And because we don't have a sense of our purpose, passion doesn't come out. Passion is a thing that says, I'm gonna go and pursue it, I'm gonna do it, and I'm gonna do it to the best of my ability. It's the fireman underneath us that causes action, right?
When I listen to someone, when I hear them, passion is what makes me believe. It makes them believable. It makes the story of their life believable, is because they have passion. Like I don't like listening to someone or watching someone who's just very hun drum.
I want to listen to someone who got who's got something to say and they're saying it with enthusiasm and this like love for life or the love for the story or love for the lesson that was learned. Passion
Treveal C.W. Lynch (58:31)
Yeah.
Fish (58:32)
is so important. And here's superheroes have passion. You choose one, they all have a passion. I believe that we all have potential, Treville. Potential. Potential is untapped power.
What is the power that you own, that you have? Right? A baby is born through the through through the through the through the circle of life, cycle of life. They're growing, they're maturing, they're developing, you know, all the things. Plant a seed, it grows, right? It's the potential. It's what has not happened yet. And I think it's important for us to understand that there is more in you than than you know.
And if there's anything I think I learned over the years, especially from my coaches, is that potential. Potential is power, but someone has to help you work, work it out. Right? That's why you need a coach. That's why you need a mentor. They're gonna see things in you that you don't see and that you don't know. We all need
Treveal C.W. Lynch (59:35)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (59:35)
to be in environments where someone is willing to extract the best out of us, but we have to be willing. Right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (59:44)
Mm.
Fish (59:45)
You start a podcast,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (59:45)
That's right.
Fish (59:46)
it starts off slow, but you believe in your mind that this thing has potential to be something bigger than what it is. Right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (59:54)
Yep. Yep.
Fish (59:56)
Potential's all around us, man, if we just
Treveal C.W. Lynch (59:58)
Mm.
Fish (59:59)
are willing to look and see. I also believe that every man needs to know that he is an influence and he is also being influenced as well.
Everything you see, everything you watch, everything you listen to, you are being influenced by someone or something. Know that. Be aware of that. But also know that you are influencing others.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:00:27)
Mm.
Fish (1:00:28)
Your kids are watching you.
Your boss is watching you. The person that you don't even know anything about is watching you. Right? So the question
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:00:41)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:00:42)
is what kind of man do we want to be? What kind
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:00:44)
Right, right.
Fish (1:00:45)
of husband, what kind of father do we want to be? Every man needs to ask that, answer that question. Because you are influencing every single second of the day in some form or fashion. And something has influenced you.
So I believe influence, man, is very powerful.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:01:04)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:01:04)
I believe once you understand what you own, what you have, what you can can do with your life and in the life of others, I think it's a game changer. Because I think then you begin to have accountability for your life.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:01:19)
Yeah, yep.
Fish (1:01:21)
Accountability and responsibility is really, really important. Conviction is the hero's foundation, right? So, what do you believe and why do you believe it?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:01:28)
Mm. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:01:32)
What are the things in your life that you're willing to stand on and put a flag on and say, I am not going to swaver away in my beliefs? That's not saying to be strong-willed and hard-headed. If someone can prove
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:01:46)
Yeah.
Fish (1:01:46)
you know otherwise to you, right?
about your thinking, about how you're doing something. I think we always need to have an open heart and and a mind that's willingness to learn. But convictions are really the things in our life, man, that we know to be true.
Right? Conviction are the things for me that says, okay, historically, when I look at the life of Jesus, I believe he is who he says he is, based on
not just books and writings and teachings, but also based on the experiences that people have. Why do we own the convictions that we have? If it's based upon thought or theory, should that be a conviction? Right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:02:27)
Hmm. Right.
Fish (1:02:28)
So I'm asking men to know your convictions, know what you're willing to stand up for. And then also
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:02:35)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:02:36)
communicate, speak those convictions with passion, right? With integrity, with character, with authenticity,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:02:40)
Right. That's right.
Fish (1:02:44)
absolutely, with love, with grace, with all those things. But your convictions are so important. And I've seen so many men, Treville, who don't know what they believe. They don't know their convictions at all.
They'd rather have someone else tell them what they believe, rather than they have their own thoughts and their own opinions in life.
How are you gonna lead your your wife if you don't have convictions about what marriage is like? How are you gonna
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:03:13)
Mm.
Fish (1:03:14)
lead your kids if you don't have convictions on the purpose of fatherhood, the purpose of manhood? And we live in a society, man, that is constantly changing the definition of just about everything related to a man.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:03:27)
Yep. Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:03:29)
I don't know your convictions and stay true to those things. Okay. Inspiration. I believe
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:03:36)
Yeah.
Fish (1:03:36)
that every single hero breathes or speaks or inspires us to do, become better than what we are.
I have
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:03:49)
Yeah.
Fish (1:03:49)
heroes that I that I listen to, that I that I that I read, right, that I watch, heroes
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:03:53)
Yeah.
Fish (1:03:54)
from all over the world because they inspire me, they breathe life into me.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:03:59)
Yes.
Fish (1:04:00)
Right? They cause me to want to do something. They create this fire in me that says, you know, they motivate me to do more, to become more. Every man needs to have this spark of inspiration in their life.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:04:14)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:04:15)
And there are many of us who don't have this.
Especially when it comes to like work. Well, it's just another work. I, you know, and grid, I understand. I'm not poo-pooing work. We all have to work. But I do believe it's important
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:04:22)
Yeah. Right.
Fish (1:04:28)
that we find work, man, if we can, that that we're passionate about, that that that inspires us, man, to want to do more. Right? If you're not inspired as a man, husband, and father, or leader, you need to recalibrate. Gotta recalibrate.
Life is not to be in the in the in the in the in the in the daily doldrums of life. Life is supposed to be exciting and fun and joyous, right? I approach
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:04:58)
Yes.
Fish (1:04:58)
my life with everything that way. How can I become inspired? If it's design work I'm doing, I'm going out looking at design sites and getting ideas from what other people are doing.
If it's a speaker, I want to learn from them as best as I can because I want to become inspired to become like them. It's okay to become like someone else. I would say that, especially if you're starting off new. Eventually you're going to become develop own style, right? And
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:05:24)
Right.
Fish (1:05:25)
recognize just as you are influences, influencing others, you're also inspiring others as well. And I hope our podcast today, people are becoming inspired by what
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:05:35)
Yeah.
Fish (1:05:36)
you and I are talking about.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:05:37)
Yes.
Fish (1:05:39)
The word inspired means to breathe into. Right? But think about
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:05:42)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Fish (1:05:45)
God. He breathed into us the breath of life, the very life
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:05:48)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:05:49)
that I'm breathing right now. This inhaling, this exhaling, it is,
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:05:53)
Yes.
Fish (1:05:54)
it I'm inspiring, I'm expiring, I'm inspiring, I'm expiring. Like that, man. I want to breathe into the things that God has given me and the people that He's given me. Okay, let's move forward. Vision.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:06:08)
Yes.
Fish (1:06:08)
Every man needs a vision for his life.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:06:11)
Yeah.
Fish (1:06:11)
What do you see? Right? It's it's not
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:06:13)
Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (1:06:16)
it's it's what you see that that that that may not exist yet, but you're willing to work towards it.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:06:21)
Right.
Fish (1:06:22)
Right?
Men get married and they don't have a vision for their wife.
Right. Men get married and have kids and or
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:06:33)
Mm.
Fish (1:06:33)
or or have kids and not even get married and they don't have a vision for their kids. Right? Like, why do we do what we do and we don't.
It's word I want to use. I can't forget
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:06:47)
No.
Fish (1:06:48)
of the word right here, but but we don't like, we don't manage it. We don't
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:06:53)
Yeah.
Fish (1:06:54)
take care of it. You know, it's like we just want to give birth, but after birth, death happens. I want to give birth and give it more life to live. Right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:07:06)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:07:07)
So every man needs to have a vision for his life about where he's going. And when it comes to that, when you have a vision, now you have to work the strategy towards it.
Right? You gotta be strategic about what you do about accomplishing whatever's on your heart and mind.
Then lastly, if you can incorporate your strengths, your values, your purpose, your passion, your potential, your influence, your conviction, your inspiration and vision, I believe that forms a leader. That's you can then begin
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:07:36)
Hmm. Yeah.
Fish (1:07:38)
to call yourself a leader. Now, once again, there are other like
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:07:40)
Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (1:07:42)
qualities and attributes that you can add to this as well. But these are the 10 that have deeply influenced me. And so that's why I wrote this book.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:07:51)
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:07:51)
Because I want men to begin to put these attributes
together so they can see themselves as a leader and begin living as one. So that's really the core of the book. It's
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:08:03)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:08:04)
it's it's my life story or parts of my life story. It's what I've learned
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:08:07)
Right, okay.
Fish (1:08:08)
over, you know, 30, 40, well, it's maybe 30 years since I was 20 years old, right? The things that have
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:08:13)
Yeah, yeah.
Fish (1:08:14)
worked in my life, the things that I've been able to put into practice that has benefited me really well in life, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:08:20)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:08:22)
It's all those things. It's really like my life story just packaged in a book of the last 30 years, right? But
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:08:26)
Yeah. Wow.
Fish (1:08:29)
I know that if what
I went through is very similar to what you went through, which is very similar to what a 30-year-old is going through going through or a 20-year-old is going through, why not give them a manual on how
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:08:44)
Right.
Fish (1:08:44)
to live life in the season in which they're in right now?
It's just a it's a deeper, broader story of manhood, of
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:08:53)
Mm. Yes.
Fish (1:08:55)
fatherhood, right? and my journey
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:08:57)
Yes, yes,
Fish (1:08:59)
in life. I I give examples of areas in which I failed. I take men through the process of how many jobs I've had over the last 30 years. Like literally. Right. I mean, like that's a thing, right? You know, I tell
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:09:09)
Right. It is. It is. It is. It's real. Yeah.
Fish (1:09:14)
people and show men about the struggles I had in terms of, you know, my wife and I and my kids and I.
Right. And you know, I mean, just life. Right? The times where God showed up majorly in my life, where I was like dependent upon him to make himself known to me. Right? It's it's it's it's it's a life story. And I just want to be an encouragement to those who are willing to become better husbands.
Fathers, men, and leaders. It's a book that every man should read. I really believe that. And I believe they'll take something out of it that will help them live life more fruitfully.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:09:55)
Mm hmm. Yeah. That's right.
Fish (1:09:57)
Yeah, by learning from others. It's it's it's
my testimonial, I guess, in many ways. Yeah.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:10:04)
Love it man. Love it man. Wow. Wow. I I wasn't expecting such a thorough review, but I think that's so that's so beneficial. That's so helpful. I mean I don't know if I've ever seen anyone articulate a piece of work in such great detail.
with such great flow in such a short period of time. I mean, as I was listening, I was envisioning promo reel or like a mini
Fish (1:10:41)
Yeah.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:10:41)
movie or like a little documentary or something like that. Like that was so that was so powerful, man. And I and I and I hope to capture that in a way, using all of these tools and and whatnot that we have at our disposal
Fish (1:10:57)
Yes.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:10:58)
to to be able to
To highlight that and to celebrate that, because that's such a great piece of such a great piece of work. Because going back to our earlier conversation, what you're giving and what you're contributing is not something that many of us, especially at an earlier age, teens, pre teen, you know, teens, young adults, mid mid, we we just weren't exposed to those concepts.
Especially in a way that made sense. And
Fish (1:11:32)
Yes.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:11:33)
the way you just broke that down, all I kept hearing was value, value, value, value, value, value, value. Because it's one thing to hear purpose, vision, conviction without having any value attached. Wow, you did such an amazing job of presenting value,
Fish (1:11:53)
thank you, man. I appreciate that.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:11:55)
brother. Wow.
Fish (1:11:56)
Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate that. Yeah, and just to let you know, for those who are, you know, just wanting to learn a little bit more about this, too, is I wrote this book in a season of my life, or I should say I delivered it this book in a season on my life right before my dad passed away. And so I wanted to make sure.
That he had this book in his hands just before he passed. And he got a dra he received the draft of the book about two months before he passed. And it was in many ways a dedication. The book is dedicated to him to say, thank you for being a father who exercised some of these traits. Not all of them, but exercised some of them, some of those traits because it has greatly influenced me. And he inspired me.
Right. And I wanted to give him a gift to let him know that. Son to son, I love you. I
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:12:55)
Okay.
Fish (1:12:56)
love you, Dad. Thank you for investing in me. Thank you for putting time into me. Thank you for exercising some of these traits. I talk about my dad in the book as well. And and I just wanted to give thought. I just want to let you know that that's also a part of the heart of the book as well. It's a it's a keep safe.
And I hope that in if there are any fathers who are here right now listening to this podcast, that you pick up the book, get a copy for yourself, but also for your son. Because they're going to need to learn and know about these 10 quality traits in their life. Because they're going to continue to grow. They're going to grow up as men, as fathers, as husbands one day. This book is a guide for not only you, but also for them as well.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:13:40)
Yeah, absolutely, man. Absolutely. I'm make sure that the links are are in the description and everywhere that I that I push and promo this, we're gonna make sure that it's gonna be as easy and as automated as possible to get to
Fish (1:13:55)
Absolutely.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:13:56)
that to get to that book since we're s in such a quick automated world. This is one of those products that needs to be automated. It needs to you you need to get, you know, to it quick. So we're gonna make sure
that it that it's as easy as as possible for you to to to get to it and to and to get it in your hands. thank you so much again man for sharing that I wanna I wanna
Fish (1:14:21)
Absolutely, absolutely.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:14:23)
I wanna ask a a few more questions kinda as we as we start to wrap up. I
just wanted to make sure that anything that you felt
was relevant in in this in this season culture, society, maybe that's the word culture. You know, different elements are in life at different times. If you grew up in the sixties, you faced certain things. Seventies, certain things were happening. Eighties, certain things were happening. So on and so forth. Twenty twenty six or in the in the in the in the
w what do we call it the the twenty twenties or the or the two thousand twenties. Considering what's going on in the two thousand twenties, the things that we're facing, the things that are approaching. if you if you were to, you know, step back and just kind of look at the landscape of where we are and what we're dealing with and and even, you know, forecasting what you what you believe is on the horizon.
What what are some words of of wisdom, of caution, of
Guidance for anyone that may be listening, that may be watching, that kind of going back to your anchor statement, it feels like life is just happening. And because I was getting a sense as you were sharing. The reason I'm I'm asking this question and I'm and I'm and I'm trying to work through how to frame the question is because as you were going through the book, I kept sensing and seeing that anchor, like a man that is.
V really really, really solid in their internal placement. but like you said, a man without purpose doesn't know why he's here, doesn't have a real incentive for disciplining themselves or for really moving in any particular direction. So I guess what what I'm trying to ask is the person that life is just happening around them.
actually, what came to mind, man, to be honest, Elon Musk. And again, no no dig on Elon. Don't know Elon from a bag of rocks. Never met the man. but I was I was on social media the other day, and I just saw a quote with him, and he was talking about AI. And the point was this man has a vision like for where we're going. Like,
He sat in a space of audacity and he said,
Fish (1:17:24)
Mm-hmm.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:17:26)
Where we are going as a society is X, Y, and Z.
Fish (1:17:29)
Yeah.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:17:31)
Now, whether you agree with, you know, whether we agree with him or not, whether the listeners, the watchers, whether whether you guys agree with him or not, my point is to Anthony's point, is that whether it's for the good or for the bad or whatever your opinion is of this man.
He's sitting in an interview with his chest up and out. He's very clear. in 10 years, this is what's going to be. And he was talking about the use of money. And he was basically saying in roughly about 15 or so years, the way we use money is going to be completely different. But my point is, bro, he is sitting somewhere.
Working on a vision that's going to impact nations because he just believes in himself and what he's doing. And he is like laying out the plan that some of us who are more passive and I don't have a purpose, and I don't know where I'm going, and I don't know who I am.
This is one example of millions of examples of where we continue to be on the sideline of life and we keep getting affected by other people's visions. And that's what came to mind when you were sharing. Like, that man that you were describing, the man that gets this book, that reads this book, that does the inner work, that applies the things that you share, that's gonna be a man that still has to deal with whatever comes their way, but they're gonna be straight.
Strengthened, they're going to be fortified. They're going to be living on purpose, and those things are going to hit them differently. rather than the person that just simply saying, Okay, Eli, whatever you come up with next, I'll just be a victim of that. Okay, leader, wherever the next thing that comes up, I'll just be a victim of that. It was being less proactive and more reactive to just whatever comes our way. And
I just really hate that victim mentality or that sideline of life approach where we just keeps we keep getting bombarded and bullied and just ran over by whatever someone else comes up with instead of being a man on purpose, a man of vision. Like if Eli's vision is gonna impact me for the negative or the positive, whatever.
As I was listening to you, I'm I'm I'm inspired to be a man of greater vision for my because I thought I was doing good. I'm listening to you. I'm like, okay, I want to take my vision to another level so that I too can create something of great value for this world that as a Eli, whatever I come up with is going to positively affect millions of lives. So my question is, man, I
Long, long road because you got me on fire. You certainly just inspired me in real time. I don't know if you can notice or not, but dang
Fish (1:20:42)
Mm-hmm.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:20:43)
man, when when you went through your book and you broke it all down, I'm just sitting here like, okay, I'm I'm asleep at the wheel. I I thought I was I thought I was driving. I'm like, no, I'd I'd moved over to the passenger seat. I'm like, I've got
Fish (1:20:56)
Yeah.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:20:57)
some work to do, but in a good way. My question is to the person that's passive, sideline,
2026, what words, after I've done my whole long thing, what advice, what words of wisdom, what guidance would you give a person who has been playing life like that, but they just want to start somewhere?
Like, what's my first step to
having a little bit more autonomy, a little bit more agency, a little bit more responsibility and accountability for my life. Because listening to you guys, I don't want to, or listening to the way that you just went through your book like I did, I don't want to keep playing the sideline. I don't want to keep watching life pass me by. If you were to say, okay, brother, since that's a decision that you're making, let's start here. Let's let's start by doing this.
Fish (1:22:00)
Well, first of all, brother, you are doing it. You are doing your thing. You are creating an environment where you are supporting and helping and trying to raise the consciousness of of men through your own story, through your own challenges, through your own questions that you're asking, through this podcast, through the videos that I've seen, right? Keep doing that. Don't stop doing that. Because someone is listening, someone is being inspired.
You're challenging men across, I believe, the world. And your message will continue to grow. So I want to let you know that you are doing it. And we all do it at certain levels. Elon may be doing it here, and you and I are doing it down here, right? But I also believe a part of that is it's it's just time. It's it's it's it's it's it's knowledge, it's resources or lack thereof, it's abilities.
It's I think God also has a plan in all this too, right? I just don't
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:23:00)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:23:00)
believe that life just happens just because it happens. I think that there is a a plan, a roadmap, a something that that that God has already planned in existence for things to happen. Just as Elon is affecting the world around him, which appears to be in a global way, you're also, and I am, and others are impacting the world in which we live
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:23:21)
Hmm.
Fish (1:23:22)
in, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:23:23)
Yeah.
Fish (1:23:24)
So we have to be true to that and be authentic to that. Right? Be honest about those things. Just as Elon has a conviction and a vision for what he wants to do, you and I should have a conviction and a vision for what we want to do in the world that is around us. Right? So I would
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:23:40)
Mm. I like that. Yeah.
Fish (1:23:42)
encourage you that. I think for every man,
You I was I was listening to what you were saying and I was saying to myself, I wish I had the agency, the wherewithal that when I was in high school to have interest in like politics and have interest in government and have interest in you know geopolitic politics, right? How the world works, interest
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:24:10)
Yeah.
Fish (1:24:11)
in like money, just just interest. I didn't have an interest in any of it, bro.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:24:15)
No, me neither. Me neither, man.
Me neither, dude. I know. I know.
Fish (1:24:17)
You know, like I
just I wasn't exposed to it. I had a probably a few friends who are into it, but I just didn't see the value in it right. But now
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:24:28)
Right, no.
Fish (1:24:28)
that I'm an older man, I do. I think and what I here's my point. I think every man needs to know what's going on around him. What's going on around his world, around the world.
Beyond just videos on YouTube, bro. Beyond just podcasts that interest us. We need to know how the world works. Grasp that as best as you can. Okay? That's number one. I would also say to what you were saying about Elon Musk, this is a thing that came up to my mind is there are men and there are women who are in power in our world.
And I believe that they're there for a purpose and for a reason. I may not necessarily like it, right? And there may be men and women that I do like. I'm like, they're gonna do a great job, right? But I'll also say with all of this that we have to not trust every man, every person. And I say that with caution in terms of.
I will never put my I will never idolize another person.
Right. They may be doing some great work and they're gonna, you know, advance humanity in their own vision, in their own way, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:25:58)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:25:59)
But I recognize through my 51 years is that when I begin to idolize a person.
First of that's not healthy to put my trust in someone who's human just as I am, who can make mistakes just as I am. That my trust has to be on a firmer foundation. And once again, anchor, right? And that anchor is in my case, you know, Jesus Christ, you know, as a son of God, right? As the Messiah, as King of King and Lord of Lords. He is ruler of my life, and everything about who I am is as a follower of who he is.
So trust no man. You said he has a vision for where we are going. And I think every man has a vision or should have a vision for where he's going. I talked about vision. So
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:26:49)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:26:50)
just as Elon has a vision for what he wants to do with the world, I'm going to ask that
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:26:54)
Ha ha ha.
Fish (1:26:55)
same question of you or just listener to this podcast. What
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:26:57)
Wow. That's right.
Fish (1:26:59)
vision do you have for the world that you live in?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:27:01)
That's right.
Fish (1:27:03)
My world is my home.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:27:05)
Wow Wow
Fish (1:27:06)
That's where my first in well,
first of all, my world is me first. I gotta
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:27:11)
Wow.
Fish (1:27:11)
have a vision for me. If you're single listening to this, what is your vision as a single man?
Who are you as a single man? If you're married, what is your vision for your wife and for your kids? That's the world that you live in. That's the world that I don't want to say you control, but that is the world that you are a part of every single day of your life. Right?
To whom much is given, much is required. Oftentimes you're able to do something well in one area of life, you then often receive opportunities to take what you've learned, that knowledge, that skill set, that that practice into others' areas, other areas of life for more impact and more influence, right? That's important. That is a principle that we all need to understand. So all I'm getting at, Trivial, real quick is it's like you have the world.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:04)
Yeah, nama's good. This
is good. Yeah.
Fish (1:28:06)
We we
have the world that we can impact just as much as Trump or or Elon or
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:09)
right. Wow. Wow.
Fish (1:28:13)
or Barama or or you know Barack or whoever it is. You know, there's more than just political stuff, right? There's more than just technology
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:18)
Right.
Fish (1:28:20)
stuff. You you know, put that person, you know that person, but you can
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:23)
Yeah, yeah.
Fish (1:28:23)
have an impact too. And I've made a commitment for myself, man, that my impact is gonna be
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:28)
Yeah.
Fish (1:28:29)
number one,
my family, because I value family.
And now that my kids are older, now that I have grandkids, I'm gonna impact my grandkids. Because
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:36)
Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (1:28:38)
they're gonna impact the world in some form or fashion, right? And then I'm gonna
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:41)
Yes, yes.
Fish (1:28:42)
live and do the thing that God's given me the call to do, which is to lift men up and to be a general, to help men
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:47)
Hmm. Yeah.
Fish (1:28:49)
live out their purposes for their life. I'm gonna do that to the best of my ability, right? Because
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:52)
Yes. Yes.
Fish (1:28:56)
that's the world that I can impact. And I know that.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:28:59)
Yeah.
Fish (1:29:00)
So my prayers are going to that, my intentionality is going to that, my money going to that, my
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:29:03)
Hmm. Yes.
Fish (1:29:06)
resources going to that, right? You see what I'm saying? Right? Intentional living, but know
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:29:08)
Yes. yes. Totally. Totally. Yes. Yes.
Fish (1:29:15)
where you can have impact. The per the, you know, where I work at, I have impact there. I know I do.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:29:22)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:29:22)
Right? By how I live my life, by what I say, by how I say it, the values in which I
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:29:27)
Yeah.
Fish (1:29:27)
live, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:29:29)
Yes.
Fish (1:29:29)
I
have impact. I can make a difference. And I truly believe that. And just because, well, who knows? One person can make a difference. Right? I mean, Jesus Christ made a difference. Dude, I talk about this in the book. As I'm thinking about it, I talk about all of this in the book, right? About the impact that we can make, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:29:45)
made a difference. Yeah, yeah, right, yeah, yeah, mate, yeah. huh. Yeah, man. Yeah. Look at that, yeah.
Fish (1:29:55)
every man, once again, who are you? Know who you are.
Know where you're going. I believe God is in control. And I control my world, man, by developing my mind, by developing agency as to who I am and what it is that I want to do, being consistent over time, being authentic to what I believe and why I believe it, challenging men, husbands and fathers, to become better leaders wherever they are.
that's the world in which I live. So if you are listening to this and you're trying to figure out what's the next step, the next step is really, first of all, who you know, what do you believe? What do you believe? Who do you believe? I hope you don't put your your your trust in in a man on all the things, just recognize that they're doing some great things, but they can fail at the same time. Develop and have an anchor.
You know, have an acre of your life for me. Literally the first thing I put in the book to start off the book was I asked God, you know, two questions or three questions. Who am I? Where am I going?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:31:05)
Mm. Yeah.
Fish (1:31:07)
How do you gonna help me get there?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:31:10)
That's right.
Fish (1:31:11)
Those are the three questions first in the book that I start off the book with. Because I
wanted to know like, is life more than just what I'm experiencing? And it's
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:31:19)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:31:20)
gotta be more. And so if I believe that God is who he says he is, he's a manufacturer of me, then he knows the plan that he has for me. So, God, let me have that conversation with you. Why'd you make me? Anthony, I've given you some strengths, bro. great. What all those strengths? Like, you know what I mean?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:31:39)
Yes.
Fish (1:31:39)
In the you know, in
the midst of a world who wants to tell me what my strengths are, why don't I go to the heavenly father who created me, who knows everything
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:31:46)
Yeah.
Fish (1:31:46)
about me? Why don't go to him? Okay, God, you gave me
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:31:48)
Yes.
Fish (1:31:49)
these strengths. What am I supposed to do with these?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:31:51)
Yes.
Fish (1:31:54)
Where how do I use them? Where do I use them? Right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:31:56)
Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (1:31:59)
Bible talks, I'll put this in the book too. Bible talks about this guy named Bezalel in the book when
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:32:04)
Yeah.
Fish (1:32:04)
the temple was being built. And it says specifically the holy that he was empowered by the Holy Spirit to create, you know, arts and crafts and build things. And like he was built, he was purposed to do that
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:32:16)
Yes.
Fish (1:32:17)
thing. And not saying we are all purposed to do one thing. I think many of us can do many different things, right?
But why are you here? And what impact do
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:32:26)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:32:28)
you want to make around the world that surrounds you? So I will just encourage, man, know who you are, know whose you are, because you're following
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:32:37)
That's right.
Fish (1:32:37)
someone, whether you recognize it or not, you're either following the world or you're following God or you're following something else that may not even have a name to it, right? But you are being impacted, influenced by someone or something.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:32:54)
That's right. That's right.
Fish (1:32:55)
Right, where
are you going in your life? Create a vision for that. I help men create vision plans for their life. We work through that process, right? As
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:33:04)
Yes.
Fish (1:33:04)
a matter of fact, it's a five-phase process. I'll just tell you real quick. Here are the
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:33:08)
Yeah, sure.
Fish (1:33:08)
five questions I ask every man. Every man needs to ask themselves these five questions. Number one, who am I? Number two, where am I? Right now, where am I in life? Right?
When God called Adam, God said, Adam, first question God asked, asked mankind, where are you? Who am I? Where am I right now? You gotta know, you have a sense of how you're feeling, where you are, what you're what you're not able to do, the things that you want. Just know your place in life right now, right? Third question is is where am I? Who am I? where am I going? Third question: where am I going? That's vision.
Right? Fourth question is, how do I get there? That strategy. Fifth question is, how do I thrive there? Which is
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:33:55)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:33:56)
how do I manage and how do I continue to live in a in a fruitful way in my life so that I'm living life on purpose?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:34:06)
Yeah. Yes, yes.
Fish (1:34:08)
Right? Purpose
that was either given to you by God Almighty, or you're living on purpose. You're living your life with intentionality. Hopefully it's both. Right? But I
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:34:17)
Yes. Yeah, right. Yeah. Yeah, seriously. Yes.
Fish (1:34:23)
choose to live my life because I know God has a purpose. And I also choose to live with intentionality, with purpose. What I say, how I say it, how I go about living my life, right?
Because I know that my life is influencing someone. And I believe I have to be accountable to what my words say and what I do, how I live my life. And let's even break it down from the travail. You
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:34:46)
Yeah. Yeah.
Fish (1:34:47)
can't be a person who says something and then do the opposite. I think a lot of us get caught in that.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:34:54)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:34:54)
Right? We can speak a lot of words, right?
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:34:57)
Yeah.
Easy to come back.
Fish (1:34:57)
You have the ability to communicate,
easy to do. But when it comes to actually putting it into practice, that's a little bit more difficult to do. Right? But in order to be the man, the hero, in order to unleash the hero that's in you, you gotta be who you say you are. And be committed to that.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:35:13)
Right. Yes, yes. Mm hmm.
Fish (1:35:19)
Right? Run your race. Run the race that's in front of you and run it well.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:35:24)
Yes.
Fish (1:35:24)
Have no regrets in your life.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:35:28)
Yes.
Fish (1:35:29)
Right.
Know what you need to shed and know what you need to put on.
Know what you need to purchase, know what you need to wait on, right? Know the conversations you need to have and have them and love and intentionality and respect and honor and integrity and all those things.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:35:48)
Mm-hmm.
Fish (1:35:49)
Just, just, just do what you gotta do.
And do it your to your best of your ability. Yeah. So I know I had said a handful, man, but that's the passion that comes out of me. But I think that I just think that's so important. And there are
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:36:05)
Yeah, man. Yeah.
Fish (1:36:06)
and understand that there are men and women out there who are willing to walk with you through life. Find a mentor. Find someone. Be intentional. If you don't have anyone in your community,
Find it, find him, her, reach out to them, send an email, send a text, go to their website, whatever. If you want this thing badly enough, you will do whatever it takes to get there.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:36:31)
Yeah.
Fish (1:36:31)
And just don't let just don't let life just do life for you. Have a say in it to the best of your ability. Right? Fight that fight. Fight the good fight. Right? It may not work
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:36:42)
Right. Mm-hmm. Yes.
Fish (1:36:44)
the first time, second time, or third time. Eventually you're gonna break through for what it is that you wanna do with your life.
Treveal C.W. Lynch (1:36:51)
That's right. Yeah, man. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Yeah, man. I I I try to balance my note-taking and and and and and my but but maybe that's the life learner in me, but it's it's those things that you just want to capture in just real time because they're so powerful. And then you just take away. And that's one of the benefits that I get from interviewing amazing quality people like yourself. Is that I learn and I
am able to draw so much inspiration and so much information that is that is like in real time applicable and just information that I can really appreciate in real time. So I just no, I I thank you, man. I thank you for just giving so so much value today. I do want to end with the question that I that I always end with.
And I hope that you were able to get out everything that you that you wanted to get out. and yeah, just I just I just before I ask the question, I I just wanna again express my my gratitude and my appreciation just for this time and and for this moment. this has been a well spent
morning and time. I'm just grateful for you and for your for your decision, which is a continual one to show up for us all. to your point with your words, you're influencing people that you may not know. You're you're inspiring folks that that may never tell you or or that you may not realize to to what degree. but
just from a personal perspective, much of what you see in me is certainly a result and a reflection of our relationship. Your level of excellence is
hard to match. I'll say that. Not that I'm in competition with you, but I I watch you a lot. I listen to you a lot and I see the how meticulous how the attention to detail in the work that you do in the man that you present to the world. it's admirable. It's it's it is it is noteworthy. It is commendable.
And so I just wanna, you know, as we say, give you your flowers as best I can in in this moment. because I want your voice to be the last voice that we hear. I do intros and outros separately. I think I already shared that with you. so I want your voice to be the last voice that the audience hears today. So I'm gonna ask the question, then I'm gonna zip it and we're gonna end with with your voice being the last voice that we hear for for
For this episode. This is the question I ask every guest. I want you to imagine that there is a loudspeaker. Maybe you've seen a movie or something where there's like a large court, maybe in a in a city or in a country, there's thousands of people walking in different directions. Just a big open court, but somewhere high up on
a building, there's like a speaker and someone gets on and whatever they say gets blasted through that speaker and everyone in the court hears it. Can't deny it. or like when a siren goes off and there's like a tornado or something. You just cannot ignore it. There's no way around it. You hear it. There's no way of I don't want to hear it. I don't want to pay attention to it. It's so loud, it's so deafening.
They must adhere to it. Like they must recognize it. They must give it attention. That's what I want you to imagine in your mind.
And then the mic is handed to you. Now, this is not just a city or a state or a country. This is the entire sum of humanity. And I'm giving you the mic.
If there was anything that you would share, if you had that opportunity, if you had that kind of opportunity, whatever you say into this mic, all of humanity must at the very least hear your message. What would you say to them?
Fish (1:41:51)
Great question. there were two things that I would say.
Number one.
is this statement that that that I'm passionate about and I believe is so true. And that statement is you cannot influence who you do not inspire.
You cannot influence who you do not inspire in a good way.
The second thing is what I'm also passionate about and if you've heard me speak, you you know where I stand in this, but very simple three word statement. God loves you.
