Show Notes

Shame grows in the darkness, in the spaces where we don’t allow ourselves to shine a light. Dr. Lee wants to begin shedding a little light and examine some of the top areas in which we, as humans, experience shame - with a four-part shame series!

And today, she is continuing the series with our second topic - food.

When we struggle with food - the issue is often NOT about the food. So, as we dive into today’s conversation, Dr. Lee is breaking down the FOUR major categories that we receive shame-based messaging around food: scarcity, boundaries, love & self-image. She’s diving deep into how each of these might be coming up for you and sharing some self-coping strategies and tools you can use to start clearing up some of that shame and trauma around your relationship to food.

She’s exploring:

  • A deep dive into the 4 major categories that we receive shame-based messaging around food
  • Understanding the evolutionary purpose of shame & how this relates to scarcity and food
  • Harmful messaging around how to lose weight - and some reframes around this!
  • Boundaries around food (and some helpful tools for setting expectations with children)
  • Rituals & routines around food - are they expansive or restrictive?
  • The connection between money and food
  • And more!
