How we prepare for, get through, and recover from disasters have sadly become increasingly pressing questions. But the impact of disasters, and people’s needs in these conditions can be very different according to their circumstances.
To address some of these questions the Disability Advocacy Resource Unit held an online forum on Disability and Disaster Resilience. In this episode, Angela Cook discusses supporting people with disabilities to prepare for bushfires. Also included is an excerpt from the forum where Angela speaks with Toni, a woman with a lived experience of disability who has been instrumental in advocating for change.
