I I know we just seeing even if we just go up your Instagram posts, you gradually saying, you know, manifesting it. I'm I'm gonna book this, I'm gonna book this. By this time, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do this. And it's I just seen the gradual kind of okay. We're getting there, we're getting there, we're getting there, and then boom, it popped off. And then so I definitely want to shout you out for that for sure.

But let's talk to you, man. Like I said, this is your second time back on the show, so thank you. Um as crazy busy with both men, bro. How has life been treating you, dog?

Life is it's been different. Um, I think for the first time in my life, I got in the taste of the um, I mean, all the shows I've done before. Every now and then you get somebody that recognizes you, hey, are you this person? But like, I mean, walking in, I'm in the airport walking people like, oh my god, you you you land, you plan. And like I I gotta tell people, man, I don't think I've been I don't think I've been called ace for real out in public since since the show. It's just you know, the first half of season two airs. So it's been it's it's been crazy. Um it's taking what comes with that. Um, I got the you know how it goes to family members you haven't heard of, aunts and you never met, cousins you never met, that all of a sudden it's like, oh my goodness. I yeah, it's been that. Yeah, uh but but but overall, like I like to focus on the positives overall. Man, it's been an amazing experience, I think. And I think it's been I say it's been my you know, I I still say I'm not even scratching the surface yet. Where I want to take it personally, but that definitely has been uh to this point, I would say a career defining. And you know, that ended there though. And then um just the notoriety, I would say, that has come from that. I'm having you know agents and managers reaching out to me, hey, we love to work on this, we'd love to, you know, have a meeting with you and summer meetings like that, they set up you know other deals and stuff like that that you know I'll tell you about later. But it's uh it's it's it's it's been an amazing journey so far. And like I said, we're not even scratching the surface. And so I'm glad and I'm happy that I have people um with me that are coming up with me that I can look at and say, y'all, we we're really doing this thing. Like, like you, um some of my other boys, you know, it and and and ladies as well, it's yeah, it's it's it's a beautiful thing. Like, and I'm I've always been a person that's like, if I'm gonna, I don't want to ever make it to those spaces, and I'm in the rooms by myself. That's been my main thing. So knowing that I have peers that are you know, they on the same time as me. They they also know they work and they're doing these things, and we all coming up together, and it seems like everybody is flourishing in their little pockets in their own time, and and it's it's it's amazing. I love to see it for sure.

Yeah, bro. I I'm I'm happy that uh that you said that too, because that's something I'll be pushing for with uh my other fellow, you know, uh co-hosts and my other fellow uh active friends and everybody else. Like it's something different. I think Kevin Hart said this too. Like, it's something different about you know your fellow peers that you you know grow up with or that you've been in acting classes with or whatever. You see them, you know, reach these um these goals too. That we're gonna it's something about that. And we're like, man, I love seeing that like because we all want to see each other on that red carpet or we all want to see each other book that it's a different type of camaraderie when you see somebody like, hey man, I booked this show, and it's no hate, nothing. I mean, I know others out there like that, but yeah, it's beautiful seeing that. So, yeah, man. Thank you for saying that and sharing it, bro. That was a portion, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, bro, yeah, man. So let's talk a little bit more. Like you said, you getting ready to do a 5k, you mentioned. Um, so how you been training for that, bro? Like, how's that been going?

I've I've not been training, and and and not because I I know I should be, right? Yeah, like I'm supposed to be. So I I've been doing a lot of my I've been doing a lot of cardio. My cardio has been like, I'll get in the gym, I'm I'm boxing them and stuff like that, but I have not been running like I should be, and that's part of the reason why I did sign up for the 5k. It's kind of like a punishment slash kickstart. Like, you know, you've supposed to have been running and doing these things. You said you were gonna do these things, you haven't been doing it. All right, boom. So now you're about to run this 5k, and I'm gonna pay you to run this 5k, and you're gonna realize, damn, all right, I need to lock in. So that's really my main thing. Because I said, I said this year, I said, man, I'm running more 5Ks, I'm doing these things. Um, but the preparation, I gotta put in the preparation for it, you know. Um, and and and I just had a conversation with myself. I was like, man, it's just like acting. Like, I would never go into audition without reading the size or you know, reading the names. So why am I doing you know what I mean? I like to always relate things to that. Like, I played football up until college. I would never just go into a game without watching film. So why am I shortchanging myself here? Um so once I had put that in my mind, I was like, Yeah, I gotta, I gotta get right. Last year, man, I ran, you know, I'm in a run club, but I ran the whole year, winner included. So I mean, it's like 20 degrees snowing, like snow, flurries, and I'm still outside running. As soon as the run finished, I'm over there by the heaters and stuff. But I was still out there this year. I was like, eh, let me take this time off and doing this, doing that, and then you know, also filming and stuff. I was filming as well around that time. No excuse, I could still could have got it in, but um, I just kind of, you know, I'm gonna give myself a break. So trying to jump back into it now after we're pretty much cold starting it. Man, I'm like, yeah, I don't know. So this 5k today about to humble me, but it's cool, it's what I needed. Uh, I think I'm I think I'm gonna put the menas on, I'll be out there. So I think I'm uh uh you know shit coming from this um, but it's gonna be what I need, man. And like I said, it's it's it's good it's gonna kick my butt, and I'm gonna have to just be like, all right, well, this is my moment of be like, all right, well, cool. Just we don't want to feel like this again. Let's lock in so this don't happen again. So this is definitely a little a little punishment, but also I don't look at I want to look at it as more of a reward to myself. Like, I'm able to do these things. Um, but man, I was recently somebody hit my car, told them my car, and I was so mad about the car, I'm like, man, this. But then even while I'm at the doctor and doing these appointments and stuff, I'm like, dang, it it at the crash site, one of my boys came up to me uh after the crash happened, and I'm mad, and I'm like, man, my car, my car, my car. And he's like, yo, look at literally right where we're at, it's like a uh a street pole. And he's like, look at that right there. And it was a teddy bear at the bottom of it. And he says, Somebody got into an accident at the same spot and they didn't make it. And so that kind of like, yeah, and they kind of like uh okay, like I'm I'm over here tripping about a car that I got insurance for that I you know I got a new car and everything, and now now I got a brand new car, right? And so it's like that was a 21, now I'm in the 26. So I'm like, I got a brand new car, all these things, and I'm worried about all this stuff, and it could have been a lot worse. So I think, like I said, I say all I have to say, I'm using this as like a this was recent last month, uh the 29th of last month. So I'm saying that I'm using this as a reward because that accident could have easily gone a different way. Yeah, and we could have been not having this conversation. We could have been, I could have been not talking about acting no more, not talking about you know driving no car no more, anything. It could have gone a very different way. Um, so the fact that I'm you know a month out and I'm able to run and do these things, like this is also kind of a reward to myself and like a like a reminder to myself that like you know cherish this life because it it could change in in a in the speak uh in the blink of eye, excuse me. So um, yeah, so both of those things, it's it's a reward and a punishment, yeah. But yeah, yeah, for sure.

No, I get what you're saying too, bro. I'm I'm glad you you brought the word. Um first thank you know, heaven above, God above, man. Thank you that you're still here with us, dog. We we're so busy and wrapped up into what we be doing throughout our everyday lives and everything, and we never take the time to you know stop and take in what just took place. Yeah, like Humbo was telling you, like, there was some times where like I'll keep saying, like, man, it's just just a blessing to be where like I just had a my birthday just recently passed. Um I thought about people that have not made it to the age of man, like you know, 38, 38, and um people telling me like I don't look 38. I'm like, oh thank you. But 38 years young, that's all yeah, that's why I say 38 years young and what I've accomplished and everything else, but also like staying humble because I know it can be taken away, like you said, like a thin old snap, and that's a wrap. So we just out here, you know, living life and taking in everything, and it's a blessing to be where we at, but also just to witness what you just saw, like he said it was a teddy bear right there, bro.

Yeah, it was it was like it was like something that was written and scripted up in a movie, like yeah, it was crazy. He's like, he's like, yo, he's like, calm down. I'm like, nah, man, my dude, because the dude, I mean, out of nowhere, just flying, uh, just hit my car. It was crazy, but yeah, and he said that, and I looked over, and as soon as I saw it, as soon as he said those words, he was like, Somebody got into an accident in the same exact spot, and they didn't make it. And I'm like, dang, okay. And now that made me feel bad. I'm like, yeah, I'm over here complaining about a car, man. Yeah, you know. Um, and and it, I think it was also, I think, in a way, that was God kind of telling me, uh, like, sit down, like, calm down. Because I like before that, like, I'm I gotta do this, I gotta do that, I need to be here. I don't feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be because da-da-da-da-da-da. And I'm just worried about everything else. And I think that was kind of my like, hey, calm down, like realize what you have and how far you've come, and where you said you want to be, like, where you said you wanted to be, and the goals you have placed, you have far surpassed them, and you're still saying you're not working, which is a good thing. Like, you should always believe in realignment and like I I want to reach this goal. I hear, I get here. Like, that's not the end of it. Now, okay, now I want to get here. So I do believe in that, but also appreciating where my feet are and realizing that I'm living my wildest dreams right now. Yeah, like when I was in school, I had you know, teachers telling me like what do you want to do in life? And I always like I was my thing was football, it was always football. But I'm like, I want to play football, and then I want to get into acting because you know I knew I wasn't gonna play football forever. I was like, and then I want to, you know, I really love acting, I want to get into that. Um, but football is just the main thing. So I was like, that and she was like, Well, outside of football, like a realistic goal. And I said, Well, I want to I want to be an actor. She was like, realistic. I was like, no, that's realistic to me. Like, I can do that. So the fact that I'm doing these things, and like I told you before, my mom, you know, she said before she said, Before I leave this earth, I need to see you work with Tyler Perry at some point. And so to be able to do that, and like I think that was God telling me, hey, sit down and like realize what's going on here. Realize all the work that you put in and the things that you have right now, yeah. You know, that you probably never thought you, you know, in your wildest dream. Like, we all have dreams, but it's like you're living in those dreams right now. You have the ability to go get more. So calm down and recognize where you are as you're still chasing other things, like recognize where you're at. And so definitely slow me down. Um, was able to spend a lot of time sitting in the, you know, sitting in the house, you know, while waiting for the car resolution, all that sitting in the house, kind of, you know, just being able to like sit back and like, okay. Like and there's also more to like, I think a lot of times, man, we get fixated. This is even acting too. We get fixated on acting. And for me, it is very, it used to be, it's still hard for me, but it used to be super hard for me, um, not booking things or like doing these auditions, feeling like I did great, because I would I had tied that into my my self-worth in a way. Like, if I'm not booking, I'm not good enough. And I'm using that as not not even that I'm not a good enough actor, which is not the case. I'm using that as I'm not good enough in life, period, because this is what I want to do in life, this is my life mission, this is my life goal, and I'm not in my mind, I'm not where I think I should be. So I'm not good enough, I'm not doing good enough in life. And so that would bring on after sitting in that and for so long, it's like a state of kind of like a uh a kind of depression to where it's like, dang, I'm not like I'm not good enough as a person. And so now I'm walking around, you know, you're losing confidence, you're losing all these things, you know what I and so I kind of had to get out of that. Um, and it's it's a work in progress. Because after a while, like I will say, after you know, not booking something from a while I'm sitting there, I'm like, all right, where's it at? Where's it at? Where's it at, right? I'm still looking for it. And I think you should. I think I think it's I think it's it's a healthiness in that. Like you should be like, all right, man, it's about that time. Like, after I don't book for a while, or like you go a couple weeks without getting an audition, it's like, all right, I'm kind of itching a little bit, what's going on, you know? Um, that's just you know, a testament to my passion and like where how I care about this thing, but also in that you gotta slow down, yeah, take the time to really all right, man. Like, I'm good, like I'm okay, I'm all right, I'm not where I want to be. Um, I'm not booking at the rate. I don't think I'll ever book at the rate that I want to book because I want to book something every time I do an audition. Like we feel that like every time anytime I set anytime I put this this self-tape setup, anytime I put this setup up, I put these lights up, I want to book it, right? And so it's probably not realistic, and I know it's not realistic, but it's kind of like you know, shoot for the stars, aim for the light, I'm aim for the heavens. If I fall short and hit the moon, I'm still doing pretty good. And so um that just that whole situation has kind of allowed me to like slow down and realize this and realize, like, man, you you're doing good, like you're doing great, you like you're you're doing great, like you're literally walking out in public, you're in the gym, and people are like looking at you from across the gym, like you know, me. I'm from I really'm from the projects, I grew up, you know what I mean? So yeah, man. I'm from New York. I'm I'm kind of looking in New York, like somebody looking at you like that. It's like hold on, she's trying to, you know, I mean, so right I see from across the gym, and I'm thinking they trying to you know line me up. I'm like, man, it's whatever, which I wouldn't do.

But they coming up and like, excuse me, and I'm like, What's up? And they like, do I know you? And I'm like, nah, you don't know me. And they're like, No, no, no, you're from that show, and I forget. Oh, damn, you're right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My fault, yeah. But like, yeah, um, it's it's it's I don't know, it's been an amazing journey. Uh uh to tie that up in a boat, man. It's just been an amazing journey, yeah. Um I'm just looking forward to what you know what was what's next.

No, it is so funny, dog. So I'll I'm I'm gonna go on the record to say so everybody can see this interview before pop the balloon. That was not the choice of color that I wanted to wear. When they say, Hey, you need to get on, get the set like ASAP, you like get what you have, get the set ASAP. What I got and go, absolutely. Yeah, so that was my mindset, and so I got to Arizona at a certain time frame, and I thought I had a longer time to get ready, but I went based off of what somebody else told me a different time, and so that's how my time got mixed up. I thought I got to the airport, I was chilling, I'm about to go to the you know, mall or wherever else to get the rest of my fit, what I want to wear, and they hit me up. They said, No, you're not supposed to be at this time that later time at this time. So I'm like, oh shh, bro, so when I'm in the car or in the Uber, getting I'm like, This is not it, bro.

I really don't go out like that to like lounges or clubs, whatever. I'm gonna focus on my work. There's one to be like, I know you from somewhere, man. I know you, and um, I didn't tell them what it was from, but I keep getting that more now. You know, but you know, yeah, and I'm like, Yeah, oh yeah, even people at my job, they're like, Why do I know you from so I even had people come up and random ladies come up and hug me and say, I hope you find love. So I'm like, bro, it is hilarious. So shout out to my homegirl for setting that up. I didn't much want to go on popped the balloon, but I did, and it is what it is.

Also, man, on those shows, man, people be people be so like, oh, I don't like the outfit. It's like, man, somebody could change the outfit. Like, from what I know, like this is an amazing dude, he grounded, he's humble, like faith-driven, and all these things. But you know, but getting back into you know, talking about you, sir. Uh stunts. Now, of course, you know, we talk about beauty and black, and we all seen what happened, you know. Others go watch Netflix, beauty and black, season one and season two. The stunts, man. I know you did some stunts on you know, a few things here and there. Um what is something that you really want to do with stunts next going forward? Or do you want to continue to get into it, or like gun training and everything else? What all did you want to do as far on the stunt side of acting that you want to get into?

I'm I'm trying to I'm trying to uh time cruise it up, man. I want to do all my stunts. I want to, yeah. I'm okay. I've always been big on that though. Even like before I was acting, I'm like, man, whenever I act, like I want to do my stunts, like you know, and God willing that I'm able to, like, I want to do like I just wanted the the full encompassing experience. It there's not many things in acting that I don't want to do. Like I have my boundaries on I'm not doing this thing, I'm not doing that, I will not get into. But um outside of those things, it's like I want to try a little bit of everything. Like my agent literally, um, shout out to Amy Lord, amazing, um, at Ares. But she just reached out to me and she's like, hey, do you would you want to do theater? Would you be interested in theater? And I was like, hell yeah, like let's do it. Like, I'm down to do whatever. Like, I I really want to, I really want to see everything that the acting world, you know, in terms of like booking roles and trying these different, you know, you know, avenues and everything. Like, I want to see what it has for me. Um and I never want to box myself in to just one particular thing. Like, oh, he he's uh just gonna TV and film. Like I like I've done commercials, I want to keep doing commercials, I want to keep doing TV and film, I want to get into theater, like I want to do um like episodics, like I want to do everything, you know, and and I don't ever want to be the guy that is, oh, he's just this, or he is just this. I've turned roles down, um and honestly, prominent roles, because they wanted me to be on a on the um like people see me like, and I'm sure people see my Instagram or people see me and they're like that's a fit dude. And I remember one time, man, I was doing a commercial uh a few years ago, man. I was doing a commercial for the NCAA, um, and I'm talking to one of my fellow actresses on said, and we're you know, we kind of got some downtime, so we all just talking, chatting it up.

Um and then she's like, hey, what's everybody's Instagram? So gave her my Instagram, she went on there and she's like, Oh, you're she's like, oh, you're a um oh you're a trainer that acts. And that kind of like, yeah, it kind of stung a little bit. I'm like, no, I don't want to be known as that. So from there, like I literally took, I I I I just want to I want to be known as an amazing actor who happens to be in shape. I don't want to be the dude that's in shape that acts. And so for a while we were just getting roles that was just, you know, the prototypical, the just the tool, just the the body. Like not really saying nothing, you're just the body. And so I actually turned down some pretty prominent roles. Because I was like, man, I always said I don't want my breakout role and my introduction to the world to be just this fit dude. It's like I want there to be some substance to the role. Um and so turning that role down, it was kind of like, oh dang, man. Like, uh I turned it down, I was like, man, what am I doing? Like, I was stupid. But I'm so glad I did it because when people see Glenn, it's not like, yeah, people have to make the comments, like he's attractive and all this stuff, but it's not like that's not it, you know. Then and I think that has allowed me to now pivot into other roles because now the daredevil role is different. I'm I'm not a kid in that role, I'm not a college kid. Um, you know, Urban Ed, I was in high school, you know. Then Glenn is uh, you know, he's in college, he's young, younger dude, but he's in college, right? And the daredevil is something totally different. So now I'm a I'm a police, uh, you know, the task force officer. That's completely different. Um, and I think now like my auditions are kind of turning in that way too. And that's shout out to my representation as well. We've had numerous conversations about, you know, not that I'm not doing these other roles, but yeah, I also want to get into other things, I just don't want to ever get boxed in to a certain thing. Um, and so even when I tell people like when I posted, you know, when I booked Beginning of Black, I posted it. First question, oh, you want you gonna be one of the strippers on there? And I'm like, oh my god, like I'm like, yeah, damn, man. Like which no, nope, not a not a problem whatsoever, you know. It's just like that's just what I already know people see me, and that's the first thing that comes to mind. They think of oh, the body, and that's fine, and like that that is a part of you know who makes me who I am, and like I'm not working out for no reason. Like, I want y'all to recognize that. I want you to, you know, but also I don't want to, like I said, I don't want to be known as like um a guy, you know, this this workout dude, this gym head right that happens to be acting on these shows. I want to be the actor that damn this dude be in a gym, like because I'm I'm in the gym taking care of myself. So, like to your point, doing these stunts, so I can you know have the ability to do those stunts um to look good in these certain roles to make sure you know for my aesthetic and what my team is pitching me for that I look good in that aesthetic. Um I see like I'm getting a lot of action action auditions. I want to be in you know, able to do what is necessary me to do for these roles. So I can't say, yeah, I want to do all my stunts like Tom Cruise and I'm not in shape enough to do it, right? Or like I'm not strong enough to do things I need to do or whatever, you know what I mean? So yeah, I'm always that is my mindset, is now, and um I would tell people all the time, they're like, they're like, oh man, let's do these, like these a lot of bodybuilding dudes right reach out to me. I'm like, man, I'm not trying to be, I'm not trying to be the Hulk. I just want to stay in shape and be, you know, yeah, where I'm at. And so um to answer your question about the stunts, yeah, man. I guess that's something I definitely want to do. Um, that's actually my first question when I get on these things. Like, oh yeah, can I do these stunts? It's like, you know, um, I did a um an X shot commercial, which is like it's like they're like rivals with Nerf. I did that commercial and I was doing stunts in there and everything. Um I think like, I mean, I just think that's like that's like the next level, I think. Yeah, be acting and then adding those those action movements into it, I think it's like, man, that's that's dope. Like I've always thought that man, that's dope. And so now that I'm in this space in which I can do that, I'm always pushing to you know, be able to do something stuff-wise if it's if it's there.

Like, I've been um like I mentioned earlier, I'm I'm starting to drop the pounds and everything else and get back, get mentally get there, and then all of course physically back there. Like I think what is Vin Diesel, uh they just announced on parent. Like, I think he has his own Fast and Fury series coming out. So yeah, so I'm gonna like I'm trying to think ahead uh for other people that's watching that will be watching this. Um I'm looking at okay, if that's coming up soon, or if it however great it does, I hope it does. I'm now looking into like car racing. And I found like a and in here in Texas, I found like a stunt tracking place that helps you with car racing at stunt rate. And I'm like, bro, so yeah, man. I mean, it's the possibilities, like the is the opportunities is endless, you just go for it. And I like that you are going for it too. Um, and it's also dope to thinking back off what you said earlier. It's dope that you know, when you look at your demo reel, you see something different every time with you know different characters, like you know, you play one, you know, you see cowboy horseback ride and everything else, then you so you go to their demo something completely different. This man is about that action with the task force and everything else, then you see other projects being done, and that's what I aim to do too, because you know, we have that range and we want to see these casting directors and other management teams at their rivals to see what we can fully do. Yeah, so I'm I'm happy to hear that and happy to see that what you're doing, man. So, you know, bravo to you, bro. For real, for real appreciation. So that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying, man. I gotta slow down and realize, like, man, I booked Tyler Perry and Marvel. Actually, when I booked Daredevil, I was literally on set, Beauty and Black. I just finished my scene, I went to the side, I grabbed my phone real quick, and I saw my agent had got reach out to me, and I looked. I said, We booked it. And I'm thinking, why is she telling me that we booked this again? I'm ready here, I know we booked it. And I looked, it said Daredevil, and I'm like, what? It's no exaggeration. Two minutes after, like, I'm I'm reading through everything. My sister calls me and my uh my niece was born. So it was just all that at one time. I'm literally while I'm on set with my Beauty in Black filming. Um found out, hey, you just booked Daredevil. Two minutes later, my sister called me from the hospital. Hey, your niece was just born. So now I'm it's so much going on. I'm in, I'm I'm getting emotional. I'm like, yo, I got it's so much going on. Um so we're filming there. Um the day we wrapped there, because I was in North Carolina, my family at the time when I left. So I drove there, I drove to Atlanta from there, drove back there. As soon as I got there, parked my car, headed to the airport, and then flew to New York. So you get there, man, and it's like I didn't even know it was Daredevil until I didn't really know it was Daredevil until I I got onset. Um, and that's because you know they they do the shell name, so they don't want you to really know what's going on. So the whole time I'm there, it's like you're in the the the Marvel studio, but it's all their shows are just everywhere on the wall. Um, so you're not necessarily knowing what it's for.

Throughout the whole process, it was a different name and everything. It was a whole different name. So I'm thinking like, oh, they got a new show coming out, this is dope. And then we get on set, and I start seeing little Daredevil things here and there. I'm like, hold on, wait a minute. And so because mind you, I I haven't been I hadn't been in the TV like that, so I hadn't even seen the season one of Daredevil. Um so after I booked it, you know, I kind of binged the first season to kind of you know catch the vibe and the flow and everything. Um but I'm on set I'm starting, I'm like, hold on, man, I'm seeing too much. Like I was seeing a bunch of Marvel stuff, but then walk us down to this wing, and now I'm seeing just Daredevil stuff, and I'm like, hmm, okay. That's when it kind of clicked, and I'm like, okay, bet, cool. All right, here we go. I just knew it was Marvel. I didn't care what it was. I I was happy that it was like, yo, it's I'm on a Marvel set like now. This is crazy. So yeah, it was amazing. Um it was just man, it was I I I and it was in it's in Queens, and I'm that's where I'm from, Queens, New York. So, like it's just it was a full circle moment, man. It's like these are the places like I grew up around, like on I literally walked these streets, you know, to go to school, do these things. Like, I've literally like I'm from around here. Like it's these are the same trains I got on when I was a kid, the same buses I got on, same stores I went to, and so I was like, damn, this is really a full circle moment. Like it was it was nothing short of amazing, I'll say that for sure.

Yeah, dude, that is so dope to me, man. And I'm I'm happy to hear the story behind it and everything. Like, you know, booking. I don't know, it's something pretty cool about booking something while you're on the set or something. You just out there just you know working, and you always got that mindset of I don't know what's gonna happen next, but you know, keep working, keep going, and get that notification. Like, oh and you know, like talking to your sister and everything else and getting the information from it, the confirmation. And like you said, you didn't put to like just walking. I know that was like I know you probably wish that more move that moment was like a slow motion to you. You're like, wait, hold on, wait, wait, where? Oh yeah, okay.

Like, I'm and it's crazy, and and I just say this. Um, whenever I'm on set, I'm always like I'm always trying to be locked in, but in the back of my mind, it's always all right, I like I love this feeling, I love being on set, I love doing it. This is what I do all these auditions for, this is what I sacrifice all this time, this energy, this money, this is what I sacrifice for for these moments right here. Yeah, I need to get back to this. I hate being away from this. I like I need to find a way to get back to this. So, what is next? And to have to know that once I get off this, I got something next, like something else is lined up. And I'll say it kind of spoiled me in a way too, because I'm like, okay, bet like I just booked Tyler Perry and Marvel. Like, yeah, I I need to be booking, you know, more like so. Um it kind of it kind of spoiled me because I'm like, yo, what's like okay? I booked, I booked Marvel. I booked literally, I booked a Marvel show of Marvel BS star while I'm on set of Tyler Perry working. Like, what's next? And so kind of like looking, like, okay, well, what's next now? So um typically like I have some downtime, but I expect there to be some downtime, but it was no downtime, it was straight off this set, on to this set, let's do it. Um filming here, and then it was kind of go home and and and relax. And so it was like, okay, cool. All right. And so it kind of got a little regular, kind of got back down to earth. It's like, okay, cool. Like, you know, and now, but but going from that, man, you on such a high that it's like, yeah, I gotta, I gotta. And then I had the um for the uh the movie Urban Ed that I did, man, that that was um, you know, in festival runs. So now I'm I'm at the festival runs, I'm on the red carpets here and there, and it's it was just like this is the life that it just further affirmed for me like this is the life I'm supposed to be living, this is what I'm supposed to be doing. Um and really just affirm for me. Like, I'm doing the right things. Like if like if I'm booking Tyler Perry and I'm booking Marvel, like I'm doing, I'm I'm doing something right.

Because for a while, like when you don't book for a while, man, like I'm sure you know, it's like, dang, am I like am I even supposed to be doing this? Is this my purpose? Am I good enough? Am I a good enough actor to be wanting the roles that I want? You know, I'm looking at the all Americans, the powers, the this, the that. Am I a good enough actor to be on those sets? Do I even belong in those spaces? And those are the thoughts that creep into your mind in comparison as a thief of joy. But I see people next to me. This dude is booking this, he's booking this, she's booking this, they're booking these things, and it's like, damn, do I not belong in the same rooms as them? And like, in and it and it's it's it's a terrible way of thinking, I would say. Yeah, because when it's your time, it's truly your time. Um, but after a while and I'm booking these things, it's like, all right, like I'm like, I'm gonna feel like I'm getting overlooked, I'm not good enough. They keep sending me auditions, but they're not good. Like people, like one of my agents, uh, shout out to George Lott, man. Um, he would always tell me how many times you audition? I'm like, man, I auditioned for them eight times, and they still ain't picked me. He was like, I'm like, they they just don't like me. He's like, they wouldn't send you eight auditions if they didn't like you. It's just out of fit. And so I'm like, all right, man, but like I hear you, but at the same time, like book me. Like doing like stop playing this game. Um, because before that, man, I've literally auditioned with Tyler Perry, I want to say, at least 10 times. And I think the numbers closer to like 12, but at least I know four certain I went back and read my across actus at least 10 times before I booked that. And so, yeah, man, just you know, those those thoughts of doubt creep into your head, and it's I think it's all about just staying grounded and where you're at. Um but like I said, booking those two things and being in the festival runs and being on the red carpets and being on, I did I did a panel, you know, like the first time I ever did a panel, man. I'm up there and I didn't feel out of place, I didn't feel nervous and nothing. I don't really get nervous as a person, quite honestly. Um not too often. Uh but I I was just I was up there, you know, and I felt I was I was I'm in flow state. I'm flowing, I feel confident, I'm doing all the things, and I'm like, okay, this is where I'm supposed to be. Like, I'm supposed to be here. Uh, so that for me was just like my moment of like reassurance and reaffirming. So now I know whenever those those doubts creep in, yeah, I'm like, yo, I booked it. I'm I'm damn good enough. Like, you know, and I'm I'm a very humble person, but I know I'm good enough to, I know I know my capabilities, I know I'm good enough to book these things, it's just not my time. It's easier to hear those things after you've booked something, it's harder to like even even my boys now that are like a little more um you know new to acting than I am. I'm relatively new, I've only got like four or five years, but even then, man, I talk to them and they're just like I'm telling them the same things. And I'm like, people told me the same things, like I was like, I get it, it's hard to hear, but when it's your time, it's your time. And you you are good enough, it's just not your time yet. And man, it's hard to hear that when you're not booking anything. Like it's right now, it's hard to hear that. But I snap myself out of it. I'm like, look, you book these things, you're getting these auditions, excuse me, you're good. You're good. You're like, it's just not your time yet. It's easier to digest that when I am booking these things, I am getting these auditions. It's a lot easier to come to grips with the fact that okay, I'm not booking these things, but it's not because I'm not good enough, it's not because I don't have the abilities, it's just not my time. When you're not booking nothing or you haven't really booked anything, it's very hard to hear that. And so I I just always like to tell like newer actors, like, man, just just just just keep going. Like honestly, just keep going. It's it's right at that point where you think it's never gonna work out for me that it works. Because I was at that point. I got to that point, I'm like, man, it's probably not, I probably need to pivot and find something else to do. I don't think this is it for me. Um and then Beauty and Black came. So and then Marvel came, and then all these other things started happening. And so it's like, okay, these things are um a direct you know effect from booking Beauty and Black and booking Marvel and booking these things, like all these things are falling into place because of that, and all that would have never happened if I did give up. Like, so like I said, it's all the newer actors that are watching this, it's it's hard to hear, it's hard to digest, but just keep going. Um one of my favorite lines now I always tell people you you can't you can't fail if you keep trying. Like as long as you're actively trying, there's no way to fail. Because it's it's just at that point, it's just a process. Now we just we're just in the process of it. We just progressing. Um like the only time it's like if you submit, like, I don't know. Like I'm I'm like I said, I'm getting like a new card now. So it's like you just submit documents and paperwork to get a new card.

You can't be denied if it's still in process. If your paperwork says in processing, how can you how can you be denied? Like you haven't been denied yet, it's still processing. So as long as it's still processing, you got a chance. And the only way in this acting thing that you can fail at it is if you just you give up and you determine that I'm done with this. I man, I know people acting it well into their 80s, man. So it's like that have been acting since they were children. So it's like you can't fail if you keep going. Now once you stop me, you say, alright, I'm done with this. Okay, well now you failed. You failed at accomplishing the goals that you had set for that. But man, as long as you still going, like, I've set goals, like I want to be on this show, this episodic, like I want to be on this recurrent show. Like, I just had a recurrent audition for a huge show recently. Um ended up getting to the top three, didn't make it. Um pin and everything. So like it's like that doesn't mean I'm never gonna be on that recurrent show. If I stop right now and I say I'm not acting no more, then I failed that goal. But as long as I'm still auditioning and still going, we still in process, we're still pending, you know. And so I just like to tell people that, man, you you can't fail once you once you just stop.

Yeah, well, I'm glad you shared that too, man, about um all the um not giving up almost getting there and then getting knocked back down and everything. I uh I you know we recently went to Comic Club Cruiser, and I can't, you know, um post this yet because of some reasons, but I asked one of the well-known actors um that that was on the panel about um imposter syndrome. Uh-huh. And we you you both know how that hits you heavy. When, like you said, especially when you're not booking something, or when you finally do book something, ask yourself, uh, this is like, do I belong here and everything else? And I was walking around New York City uh what back in April, late April, this was on the set of what the major thing that I booked, and I needed that inspiration. And I came across, you know, well, you know how it is in New York, those those billboards, those electronic billboards where they showed like different, yeah. Um, but I was way far away from uh Times Square, but I was just walking, just got the gym, and I saw Chapler Bozeman on that billboard, and I was like, ooh, because that's one of my favorite actors. We all know what happened to RP to the king. RP, absolutely. And you know, we start saying, okay, if he endured what he endured, being on set, going through you know, chemotherapy, still going to visit these kids at the hospital, knowing what he was. We didn't, of course, we didn't know he knew, but he did all that and he endured that. And uh, you start questioning like if he was ever doing that, you start looking at yourself saying, bro, these moments of life like we just shared earlier are priceless. And if we can give a little bit more to keep going, I think we're gonna be all right.

I think it's gonna be good. I think I think we can make something like I got a lot of childhood friends I grew up with that are no longer here. Um continue to rest at heaven and that, man. But I think about that too. It's like, yeah, there's so many dreams that they have that they they they can no longer live out, and so it's like if I quit right now, I think I'm doing them a disservice. And there's so many people that there's people have sacrificed things for me that are no longer here, and if I quit right now, I'm doing them a disservice. So like I owe it to them to at least see this through, no matter what it looks like, no matter what comes of it. I owe it to them to like see us through.
