BrandiSea:

Welcome to design speaks the podcast that empowers you to stay inspired, be creative on demand and find your visual voice. I'm your host. BrandiSea. This week, we're going to be talking about what I have in store for season four. Hey, that rhyme. Stay tuned for that coming up later in the show. hello, lovelies. I am so glad that you're here. This episode is going to be a little bit different. I wanted episode one of season four to be a little bit of a peek into what I've been up to. What's been inspiring me. And what the season will look like because it's going to be a little bit different. So I hope you're excited because I know I am. So first of all, I wanted to talk about. My musical inspiration. So one of the songs I've been listening to a ton lately, I guess, lately being like since the end of last season and all through the summer is called Pacific coast highway by the hip abduction and Trevor hall. And. I'm going to let you hear it, and then tell you a little bit about why it's kind of been on my mind and on my playlist for literally months. Enjoy. That was Pacific coast highway by the hip abduction and Trevor hall. And something that I just really love about this song is how it really captures the energy of being on the west coast, the Pacific coast, while we were in Los Angeles, which I'll be talking about here in a little bit, we were. Traveling along the PCH, the Pacific coast highway quite a bit. We actually had a really nice playlist that I found on Spotify. I can't remember what it was called, but it had this song on it. And we just like had our windows down and I had my hand out the sunroof and we were able to. Breathe that sea air. And just these lyrics that he says, I left the lights of LA to where the angels long escaped, maybe under redwoods, they play or along the humble shore. Want to find the place? I left my soul on the Pacific high, on the Pacific coast highway and going to let the stars be my guy left my worries all behind. It's just like this attitude of this easy going sort of beach bum. Lifestyle that you can, it's just very palpable and really inspiring. And it was not difficult for me to relax and kind of take a deep breath literally and figuratively and just enjoy the vacation. Although I'm always looking for inspiration, I'm always awake and aware and actively observing things. It was such a nice feeling to just be able to. Sit along the beach drive along the beach, see the ocean and embrace that feeling of this is a break. This is a vacation. And so when we came back, I definitely kept playing this as I was working in. It kind of was a very, a really real way to embrace that same feeling long after vacation was over. So I hope you guys enjoyed it again. That was Pacific coast highway by the hip abduction and Trevor. All right. So let's talk about what you can look forward to in this season, season four. So if you remember last season was Julia. Goodbye. And so I'm currently officially co-host less, but I didn't want to rush anything, rush into choosing a cohost until I knew that I had chosen the right person and that it was going to work out well, time-wise for everyone. So while I have some ideas of who the next co-host might be. I am going to this season, basically be doing some episodes on my own. So some solo episodes, which will be some case studies of past projects. I haven't decided how many or which ones exactly yet. Some new episodes on popular topics from previous seasons. So perhaps some of your favorite episodes, I will go back to and talk about those topics, but from where I am now, instead of the exact same place that I may have been 2, 3, 4 years ago, this coming year is going to be five years of this podcast, which is crazy. And who knows there's going to be some other. Topics and things that I don't want to give you all of the secrets on, but in addition to my solo episodes, I'm also going to have a few guests co-hosts including, but not limited to Amber Anderson, who came on the podcast to talk about my course last season. She is a professor at Dallas Baptist university and a longtime listener of this podcast. I will also have Lauren from the, for the creatives YouTube channel. I was actually a guest on her channel. She did a couple of episodes where I guys talk about all the things that I usually talk about. So hopefully you get some really great stuff from her when she is on an episode here. Rebecca Ruth host of designing with intention where she interviews creatives on Instagram live and some special surprise guests as well. So I'm really looking forward to this season. It's going to be different, but you know, we live, we learn, we grow so. As always, I'll also be sharing on common inspiration and the songs I've been loving recently, there are still a few to be determined episodes. So if you have anything you have been wishing and hoping I would talk about or anything, you'd like me to elaborate on that maybe I've covered in the past that you just cannot get enough of, please. Let me know you can message me as you know, over on Instagram at design speaks podcast or my very own Instagram at Brandy. See, so with that, I wanted to talk to you a little bit about what I have been up to these past months that we have not had a podcast right after season three. My family. And I went on our annual summer vacation two weeks. We always take two weeks somewhere. And this summer we decided to kind of do more, something more easy and not quite so pressurized with going someplace new that we had to do a ton of planning on. So we went with my parents to California. For a little bit of it. And it was just my family of four together for most of the rest of it. And so we were in the LA area, we got to do the Getty museum. We went to some beaches. We went to the Griffith observatory. I've never been. I had never been. And after all these years and all these many, many times of visiting Los Angeles, it just never happened. So it was really great to actually visit the Griffith observatory. The Hollywood Boulevard and walk of fame was something we had done before, but my parents wanted to go. And so that was a lot of fun, went to downtown Disney. And so I, I was just so inspired by. Various things here. I was actually, I had a couple of clients that I'll talk about handyman at that. I was right in the middle of when we went, so I was able to really. Strategically look for some uncommon inspiration from color palettes, to some very specific shapes and concept ideas that I had been kind of mulling over. So I was able to find a lot of really great things in floors. I think the thing that surprised me the most is how many points of reference I found in that. The floor I was walking on. And that's probably because I really love taking pictures and video of my feet. I know I'm so weird, but it is what it is. And I found some really great shapes and like tiles and mosaics, and it was really incredible. So if you want to see some of those. Go ahead and head over to my Instagram. You'll be able to check some of those out. I did a reel with some of the things that I found. We also, I also have the chance to go to, uh, the LACMA, the Los Angeles county museum of art and visit their. They have this whole outdoor exhibit with it's a permanent art installation with these lampposts. And I cannot recall what the name of it is, but I'll link to it. And it's basically just like rows and rows and rows of all these old lampposts. And I found a really great letter, a that really inspired me for some type of graphic work for one of the clients that I'm working on. So lots of really great inspiration, other things that I've been working on a ton over the past months. Ideating on content for this community for the design speaks community for the community that follows me over on Instagram and. Really trying to figure out what you guys, what's going to be valuable to all of you and how I can provide that, how I can help you. And so in that I've been creating a lot more content, whether it's feed posts or reels or Instagram, TV videos, things like that. So if you have any feedback, things that you really enjoy seeing I've gotten good feedback on people loving my goofy. I guess since the humor on rails and I've been having a lot of fun with that and really just embracing, not worrying too much about making things perfect. And, uh, just making things for you guys. So hopefully all of those are valuable and helpful and add a little bit of joy and also value your day. I've also been planning out. Books in progress. So one of those books is going to be on the process and content are a I'm sorry, concept creation. And the other one is going to be, obviously you probably would have guessed uncommon inspiration where I find it and how you can find it. So those books are being, uh, chapterized. I know that's not a word, but it sounds fun. So I'm going to just own that and bullet points and trying to figure out. Editing and getting that content together. I don't know how long it's going to be till those things happen, but it is definitely in the works. Also been homeschooling my younger kiddo. My daughter started school at a legit public school. Full-time in Los Alamos, which is, uh, a town near where we live and also been working on some really incredible clients. Arcane mixer. The arcane mixer is actually my sister-in-law Joelle. You've heard her on this podcast before she launched or is going to be launching. She's been creating custom Dungeons and dragons playing dice, and she creates them from scratch. They are all handmade. Every set is completely different from the next set. And so. I'm creating a full brand strategy and identity designed for her company. So that has been a blast. The research before D and D has like taken me places. I never thought I would go with research in all of the best ways. It's so much fun. And it's so interesting to see symbology. All of the things that go into this enormous universe of Dungeons and dragons. So also I've been working on two cover designs for some new singles that Lauren. She is a musician singer songwriter that I've worked with before. And I have two more singles that I've been working on for her. And I finished a podcast cover redesign for our good friend, Chris Hubert's Enneagram expert for his podcasts, any gum mapmakers. And that was so much fun too. And I have some process videos over on my Instagram for you to see of that. So that's a lot, that's what I've been working on that. Has been on my plate these days. And I am really excited, although there is no official cohost to do this podcast with me to see how it will go. Especially with these episodes that I'm doing by myself. I love to talk to other people. So this is definitely going to be a growing experience, but I wanted to give you an update and hopefully this is going to give you some. You know, preview and excitement for all of the cool things that are absolutely coming your way in season four. All right, lovelies.
