The Truth with Tal & Isaac

The Lions Are Saving Lives & Around the NFL

Tal & Isaac Czudner Season 1 Episode 158

In the 158th episode of The Truth with Tal & Isaac, the boys start with some off the tops: the important question of how many 10-year-olds you could actually fight off, Ryder Cup controversy, movies (One Battle After Another might be the best film of the year, The Sound of Music is still elite, and RIP Robert Redford after Brubaker), plus the usual: Save Us, Pistons.

Then it’s Lions talk. Monday night against Baltimore was a statement. The offensive line mauled — Penei was driving Roquan Smith 10 yards downfield on Monty’s 72-yard touchdown. Gibbs and Monty were both monsters, Laporta made every catch count, and the linebackers bottled up Lamar and Derrick Henry. Al-Quadin Muhammad went from couch to primetime star, and Dan Campbell doubled down with three gutsy 4th-down calls, including the Amon-Ra pitch to Gibbs and the late throw to ARSB to ice it. Two 95-yard drives on top of that — this was elite football.

Cleveland was next, and it was more of the same. The run game traveled, the linebackers stayed steady, and Goff made throws on the move. His Lions résumé now mirrors his Rams one (69 starts, 42 wins), only with a much higher passer rating. Still, the secondary is thin with injuries piling up, and Joe Flacco… might finally need to call it.

Around the league, the Packers fraud-checked themselves and snapped a 300-game streak of closing out when up 10 late. The injury bug is everywhere — Burrow, Lamar, Nabers, Bosa, Tyreek, you name it. The boys debate who the biggest fake 3–1 team is (Pittsburgh? Indy? Jacksonville?), and more. Plus some Shedeur Sanders chatter in Cleveland.

The boys will be making a trip down to Cincinnati. Football Sunday, big energy in the city, and a reminder of how different NFL gameday feels in person. Lions fans travel well, and the Cincinnati scene will save us.

Finally, quick Tigers note: September was a disaster — worst winning percentage since 1903. Skubal shoved in Game 1 vs. Cleveland, but 15 stranded runners and bad decisions in Game 2 summed up the collapse. Football has taken over, but the backdoor playoff dream is all but gone.
