Alright, I want to welcome everybody back in to another episode of the Fourth Down Podcast. Back at it again with the normal guys, Leek, Dre, and Dorian.
SPEAKER_01Yup. Yup.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I I feel like it's been a while since we all been in the same space. Like, I just want to do like a little mental health check real quick. Like, everybody good?
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, man. Everybody good. We good. Smooth, man. We in the heart of the summer. Yeah, yeah. We had a couple heat waves. We might be in one right now. Hupple.
SPEAKER_00Hey man, y'all, y'all, y'all tapped in with the World Cup, bro. Right now. Spanning Argentina on Sunday, bro.
SPEAKER_04Like, what? You see what's on the chest, bro. Come on now.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna get some hate for that, because I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I don't care. I don't care, bro. Argentina up. We still up. You know what I'm saying? Back to back. We're gonna. So you gotta win it?
SPEAKER_00Yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_03Who the fuck is we?
SPEAKER_04Exactly.
SPEAKER_02That's why I say you're gonna get hate.
SPEAKER_03You're not even probably.
SPEAKER_04I was with you when it was like, you know, I fuck with Rock and Messi, but now I'm hearing a lot of this we though. I gotta I gotta rock with whoever messy play for, bro.
SPEAKER_02That's my guy. That's the boat. I'm a messy fan too, but I don't I don't know I was reading for USA through the whole thing.
SPEAKER_04I read it for USA. And then until he got smacked.
SPEAKER_02Then Christian Polistic just said, fuck the team. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03He just said fuck the team.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I don't know what happened.
SPEAKER_02He missed the whole, like, he missed the whole Gold Cup to rest up for the for the World Cup. He missed the group stage to rest up for the elimination stage. And did it? Then we get to the spot where we need him and he rolls his ankle and he's no longer able to play. And I'm like, bro, you're our superstar, right? Oh shit, I didn't know I know the lore behind the screen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was bad, bro.
SPEAKER_02Bro, that's equivalent to like we're everyone's saying, all right, like, okay, right? Like, we're gonna take LeBron on our team, right? And LeBron is okay if you only play 30 games all year. Just when it's time for us to play in the playoffs, we need you. And then we get to the playoffs, and then you say, I'm not playing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's actually fucked up.
SPEAKER_02It's like, bruh, like, I don't know. That was the that was the biggest load management I've seen as a soccer casual for him to still not matter. What was that?
SPEAKER_04So at that point it's like that game? It's like 4-1. 4-1, bro. The game we, yeah, yeah, yeah. We got dog.
SPEAKER_02There was that there was that one play. I don't know if you remember when the goalkeeper he runs out and he like fake kicks the ball. Yeah. And I'm like, bro, why did anybody pull back off that? Because they scored off that. Like he he like he he went to kick it and like he just stopped himself, and the defender came and took it from him and just chipped it in past the defender.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, bro. That is the worst I've seen them play the whole time. Like they was hooping the whole the whole tour. That's what I'm saying. That was like, bro, I don't know what what Belgium did that made them seem like they didn't want to show up. But like, bro, it was like crickets out there. It's like they was playing, it's like Belgium was playing against nobody.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I mean, I saw a statistic that was like most I think all the teams, I think the highest ranked team that they played was like 22nd in the world before Belgium. So I guess it the lights just got too bright. When they got against a real top 10 team in the in the world, they just they they tucked their tails. Like, I don't know. It just didn't look good. I I don't know how to fix it for USA soccer. Like, I mean, even if we won against Belgium, we probably wouldn't won this round.
SPEAKER_04So we'd have got we would have had to play um Portugal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we would have had to play uh no, was it Portugal or Spain?
SPEAKER_02Um I can look at uh hold on, let me just see to make sure so we don't get cooked.
SPEAKER_00As as as someone who is is a soccer casual and doesn't really watch that often, for I guess for the next matchup against Spain and Argentina, like what are y'all looking for? Like who do y'all have? Like who who's the the odds on like favorite already?
SPEAKER_02Like Well, we would have played Spain. We would have lost.
SPEAKER_04Um so like far as the way it was looking, um, of course, not of course, but Argentina is the underdog in this. Um Spain has been playing some really good teams and they've been playing really good. Really, really good soccer. And I'm not gonna lie, I would not be surprised if Spain wins this game. Because, like, bro, they they're actually really open for real. Like, Spain really be going out here and like whooping his ass, like straight up. And they like, bro.
SPEAKER_02But there's been some criticism for your mall, um, just because all the other, I don't know if y'all know, but your mall is their best player. He's like, he's like 19 or 20. He's like really young. He's been in their club program since he was a kid or whatever. Um, and so like he uh he's been playing well, you know what I'm saying, from the standpoint of like, you know, being where he needs to be, you know, uh assist, moving the ball, good passes, and all that. But he hasn't been scoring like all the other stars. You know, Holland and Mbappe, all them guys, they got like seven goals in the entire tournament. I think he I don't know, you know, how many goals he scored recently, but the last time I looked, he was significantly below them. So he was taking criticism for that. Meanwhile, Messi is in the running for the goal boot. He might win it, actually. He has to last one.
SPEAKER_03He has he has eight goals and four assists right now as of today.
SPEAKER_02Nobody else has more than eight, though.
SPEAKER_03Nah, everybody's losing seven goals. He's running. Yeah, from what I seen, he's right, he ran, he's pretty much won.
SPEAKER_02So he he's about to essentially he could go back to back World Cups with a gold boot and probably tournament MVP. Yep.
SPEAKER_03So does like does it just make Messi the goal to soccer?
SPEAKER_02I already feel like it was a consensus, but if you're gonna be. People be saying Ronaldo just because he has uh like a he has more total goals period just in the career and his club track record has been better earlier on.
SPEAKER_04Ronaldo has more games played.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And that gap for like goals for between him and Messi isn't that big considering how much games were played.
SPEAKER_02But he also has more club championships.
SPEAKER_04Yes, he does have more club championships, which is But Messi wins more tournaments.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he messes. So it's like it's I don't know how you want to look at it.
SPEAKER_03It just depends on how much you weigh club performance over International play. International play.
SPEAKER_02And I think the World Cup. I mean, him having him having a World Cup tips it in my head.
SPEAKER_01I feel like if he wins this one, like back to back? Back to back is crazy. When when when when Ronaldo doesn't have any, yeah, like yeah, that's and nothing. And I mean, but that's the people.
SPEAKER_03That's like the sad thing to say about I not to say his country's bad, but Ronaldo's just the only thing Portugal has been able to put out, it seems like.
SPEAKER_04I'm not gonna say that his country's bad, because in a lot of the games that were played between Portugal, Ronaldo didn't show up. Like he wasn't a factor.
SPEAKER_02Like Well, the criticism from the Ronaldo side when you compare them to in this tournament alone, is that Argentina looks for Messi to score. Whereas like they don't force feed Ronaldo. Right? And they're saying, like a lot of people on the Ronaldo side are saying, like, Argentina is force feeding uh Messi, especially in a box when like someone can take a shot and they're like, mm, I'm just gonna pass it to Messi, he'll probably make it before I do.
SPEAKER_04But they they have other people that take shots too. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Argentina, like, which are they are really good, really good shot makers. But like, why wouldn't you want to put the focus on your good players when you're when the players on the outside, when everybody's focused in on when that one, can still make shots. And the difference is with like with Portugal, it's like y'all don't look for Ronaldo to do anything, and it's like when a team sees that, it's like, what's the point? Yeah, when I was watching these games, even with Erlen Highland, Mbappe, Messi. Highland been going crazy. Probably my new favorite guy. He's up there with me. But like when you think about them guys, especially like the the games that they played and the one that uh the one against England, when you look at the play, bro, they got two people guarding these niggas every second of the game. Like, I watched Highland walk down, walk down the field, and as soon as he crushed to like within a box, it's two people like bumping up on him. Regardless of where he's at, where the ball is, it's always two people next to him, Messi and Bappe. So it's like, what do you like? You want these people to score goals, and it's like, bro, and they still scoring goals. Like, they getting played the most defense on them, they getting the bumped, the pushed.
SPEAKER_00I was about to say, like Yeah, like in Holland's case, like wasn't he like subbed out um like in in like their elimination games?
SPEAKER_02But that was because like he was like like gassed or like I mean some I mean I I can't say specifically because I'm not gonna act like I know all the X's and O's of soccer, right? But it's not necessarily always fatigue. Like sometimes, like, if you need say you got a lead and you want to protect the lead, you might take out an attacker and put in a defender, regardless of who that attacker is, right? If your formation has two strikers versus some formations that might have three and some that might have one, right? Like, you might say, all right, we don't need three strikers, we need an extra defender, so I'm gonna take one off. You know what I mean? So I'm not gonna specifically say why he got off, because I'm not gonna act like I know. But I do know that when it comes to substitutions, it's not always just fatigue. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna lie, bro. He he made me a fan of soccer, bro. Like, just like Who Holland? Yeah, bro. Like, I I like the way he his just like I don't want to say his aura, bro, but like he he nice on the pitch, like, and he just like bro, his nickname is the Viking.
unknownLike, come on.
SPEAKER_02They're calling they're calling him like soccer's Gronk.
SPEAKER_00Yes, like he's he kind of acts like Gronk.
SPEAKER_02So I've seen some team comparisons with the soccer teams and like other sports, and like don't take offense to this, right? But they they were saying they were saying England, right? Because they were saying England's like the Ravens. Very much so, right?
SPEAKER_03Because Harry Camber's number eight. No, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_02No, but because they every tournament, every tournament, especially World Cup wise, they have this hype. Obviously, you know the creation of the sports in in uh Europe alone, and they have this uh they have this hype that follows them every World Cup, and they just always get to like the semifinals or the or the quarterfinals and they lose.
SPEAKER_04Like they were even they were they were winning. They were winning 1-0. They were 1-0 with six at the 63rd minute.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they were they were up 1-0 and then gave up two goals. One in like the 90th minute. So five minutes. Sounds like a hard bar.
SPEAKER_04All too well. Argentina's two goals and five minutes. Who's the England coach? Maybe they need to get them out of there, man.
SPEAKER_00Maybe it's Han Jarbar, bro. That's what it is.
SPEAKER_04I do want to go back to um uh Erland Highland. Uh I will say You caught that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I do want to go back to Erlen Highland. I uh far as like Norway as a whole. To be honest, I give Highland a lot more credit because when you measure up to the teams that they beat, they shouldn't beat them.
SPEAKER_02Norway is not caliber as frags in Spain.
SPEAKER_04They beat a lot of great teams like Brazil. They should have got dogged up.
SPEAKER_02Brazil kind of underperformed this tournament, though.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02Like, it's like some of the teams that they played. He retired, so you didn't have to throw that.
SPEAKER_03You could have, you could have we could have we could have ended on the high and you could have left it at the high. You didn't have to throw that out there. Shout out to Neymar, but though. He just took a roster spot. I don't know. I mean That's actually crazy to say that.
SPEAKER_02He just took a roster spot.
SPEAKER_03Who else was gonna do it? Who else was gonna be there?
SPEAKER_02Somebody that you can sub in?
SPEAKER_03To do what? Nobody, I mean like 19 years old. Nobody was doing shit else. I don't think anybody else would have made it in bigger. I'm saying he didn't play.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02So why did why did Brazil? I'm just saying, why did Brazil take him if you want to come back?
SPEAKER_03Neymar is a legend and a GOAT for that country. We're not gonna disrespect the man.
SPEAKER_02No, he is a legend and a goat.
SPEAKER_03If Ronald Dinho could still go out there, I bet you he'd be out there. Point being a good thing.
SPEAKER_02But the thing is he didn't care, though.
SPEAKER_03That's what it said. I get it, but I'm just saying, we're not taking over Ronaldo's 41.
SPEAKER_02And Neymar didn't play. They're not built the same, clearly. Yeah, he's a little fragile.
SPEAKER_03He is, unfortunately, but that still don't mean he's not the GOAT.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03The goat of Brazil.
SPEAKER_02The goat, or yeah, I was about to say, hold on, I don't know. It's levels. So yeah, we we're my fault. No, I was just about to say, I think I think Spain is gonna win the tournament.
SPEAKER_04But if but if if if Argentina, if Messi go back to back, like I could I'm gonna still I'm gonna still go for Argentina because Messi no shit. But like I said, I would not be surprised if Spain's win, because they have been playing really good. I'm not gonna lie. I gotta give them the credit.
SPEAKER_00Bro, it's a it's a picture. Um I think this is gonna be like the last point that we can move on. It's a picture of like Messi like 18 years ago holding like a baby uh Yamel.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like I saw that. I thought it was a big thing. That's so crazy, bro. Now they brought the like play each other, bro. Like that shit is like he was holding him as like a baby.
SPEAKER_03He was literally an infant in like a bag, like he was literally wrapped in the baby blanket.
SPEAKER_00I mean, he had the long hair, but like, yeah, like to play him at who biggest. I mean, he was a he was talking about him. I thought you were talking about the biggest. Nah, nah, nah, nah. But yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Long hair messy is a goat, too.
SPEAKER_00Uh moving forward, um, it has been a minute since we've been in here, but like it's been a lot of like a lot of like sports news. Um in the NBA specifically, we got Giannis going to the Heat, you got Melo going to the Timberwolves, you got JB going to the Sixers, then we got the whole LeBron, where is he gonna go type situation, right? So, like, what's your guys' take on this offseason? What do y'all think's been the biggest move, and where y'all think Braun's gonna go?
SPEAKER_02You forgot a move as well. Um, J to the to the trail big.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because that's that's a real needle mover. I mean, I mean I just wanted to. It's not a needle mover. I'm gonna put the one big ones out. Big ones, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, it's not a needle mover, but I thought it was an interesting move out of, I thought it was the most interesting move out of all of them. Not the best move, but I thought it was most interesting because I don't think it fits. I don't think it works. I don't see what's behind the tree whatsoever.
SPEAKER_03That's why I don't find it the most interesting because it's literally Memphis sending him to die off. Yeah, but I'm like, it's gonna start. It fits what I expect. And I mean it's not it's kind of fucked up, but it's kind of what I expected Memphis to do. We've been seeing that they gave up on Ja. Yeah, they wasn't gonna really do nothing to help him out.
SPEAKER_02But that's what I'm saying though. Like, for example, right, like Giannis and Miami, right? Obviously, they're immediately gonna be a top four C and E.
SPEAKER_00See, but I don't think that fit works either. No. I don't think that fit works. I don't think they're done.
SPEAKER_02I don't think they're done making moves.
SPEAKER_03I think they still gotta make a couple of things.
SPEAKER_02No, I think that the league. I think the league is kind of frozen for LeBron. I think once LeBron's domino falls, then that's when all these role players are gonna start getting added. And like obviously, Miami missing a lot of shooting right now.
SPEAKER_04A lot.
SPEAKER_02A lot of shooting. They have no shooters, they have wigged.
SPEAKER_04Like a Tim Hard Handler. They have no point.
SPEAKER_02Tim Hardaway, Davion Mitchell. Right. And so I think the LeBron domino is gonna trigger the rest of the role players to to fill out these rosters. But Miami going Miami getting Giannis, all right, they're media top five seed. We already know that, right? Six is getting JB, y'all could probably gonna be also a top five seed, right?
SPEAKER_05So that's why it's already just like Jesus.
SPEAKER_02But I'm saying that's why I think the Ja Morant joint is interesting because I don't know how that's gonna work. You know what I mean? And like he's gonna play next to Dame and be off the ball, but he's not a shooter. That's my thing. That's my thing, though.
SPEAKER_04Who do you think?
SPEAKER_02Well, Dame, who's number two?
SPEAKER_04That's something else, yeah. Like, who's number two in that in that in that in that in that position? What do you mean? It's Ja. Yeah, but it's Dame City.
SPEAKER_03This Dame City.
SPEAKER_00The injury though? But behind who? Denny Abdi. Oh, fuck. It's a bunch of things.
SPEAKER_03You said Denny might be three? No, the Jay. Ja might be three behind Denny Denji.
SPEAKER_02I ain't gonna lie. Denny has been playing better than Ja in the past like two seasons.
SPEAKER_00Ja can't even stay on the court. Like, I'm talking about injury-wise. I don't even think we're gonna be a good thing.
SPEAKER_03I ain't gonna lie, I kind of did forget about that. Neither one of them niggas can stay on the court. He probably it's really the show's gonna get ran between Dame and Denny. But it's like And it's crazy to think that Ja is a third option.
SPEAKER_02I don't even think he works in the starting lineup. Like, honestly, you might got to bring him out of bench. Ja? Yeah, like it don't work. What exactly is he gonna do? He's not gonna handle the ball. He cannot shoot, he cannot defend. What's he gonna do?
SPEAKER_04Why did Portland accept that trade?
SPEAKER_02I guess to get off Jeremy Grant's big contract. Yeah, that zone was big, and I don't they wouldn't even start in him some games.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like I guess it was to get off of him. What the fuck does that do? What's Memphis do with that? Like, why does why what the fuck is missing?
SPEAKER_02Jeremy Grant? I mean, they're basically replacing uh Jaron Jackson. He's gonna probably fill in that role. He's not center, but he's still a uh a defending.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I like Grant, don't get me wrong. I like his game, but it's just if it's if the contract was hindering Portland, shit, ain't about to do the same thing for Memphis to kind of get it.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's I think it's expiring contract. So they only got him on the books for like one year or something like that. But like I just don't know how Ja works.
SPEAKER_03I just I don't see it being a situation Ja like dying off. Um I mean, I ain't gonna lie, maybe he fucked around and just completely shock us all and just he might start hooping in Portland.
SPEAKER_02But I just don't see the touches. Yeah, I don't see the touches. Like Dame's gonna dominate the ball.
SPEAKER_03I mean, all right, when we think about it, like the ball gotta get spread around. Because like Denny, obviously, we saw what he can do because he was forced to be the top scorer. He's gotta be owing ball, but honestly, I really kind of look at him more as a facilitator. So Dame don't gotta really be the one moving the ball up a lot of the time. So, and if you think about it, it's just the two. If it's just you just got Dame and Denny, you need a third option.
SPEAKER_00Well, are we putting too much stock into Dame after he's coming off of this this huge?
SPEAKER_02Well, it's not an expectation of Dame being Dame. It's just that we know that him playing in Portland, they're going to take him first over anybody else. The legacy point is. That's like that's like that's like, all right, so hypothetically, you talk about LeBron, right? LeBron goes back to Cleveland. At this point, like I'm I can't. It's hard for me. It's hard for me to it's hard for me to imagine. No, no, no, I don't think James is gonna be there if you go there. I think they're gonna try to find a way, like a three-team trade or something to get a some other guard there, right?
SPEAKER_01They sway away from James Hyden.
SPEAKER_02But really?
SPEAKER_03They extended them. Didn't they didn't they didn't they already extend him? No, no, yeah, he's a free agent. I think they did. No, I thought they did. I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure he's a free age. I swear I thought something had come out like literally right after the uh the playoffs.
SPEAKER_02But I am my To your point though, yeah. My point was uh when it comes to LeBron, right? LeBron could go to Cleveland and obviously Donovan Mitchell is probably gonna be the best offensive player on the team, right? But it's still gonna be LeBron's team because it's it's Cleveland. I think it's a similar feeling in Portland with Dane.
SPEAKER_03I think that's a bad example because I I Well, you're just saying because it's a LeBron? No, yeah, because it's LeBron. But I mean at the same time, we do know who's the number one option on that team, even though it's a lot of people. It's gonna be Donovan Mitchell.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so it's like LeBron LeBron's probably gonna run point. That's why I don't see James Stan. I think they're gonna try and move that around.
SPEAKER_00I don't I don't know, bro. So okay, so another one on it. Where do y'all think he goes to the clear? I was gonna say I was just about to say Cleveland's you still think he's Cleveland. I think it's Cleveland. Because I think that's the storybook ending, but like if he goes to Philly, he's gonna get a ring.
SPEAKER_02I feel like yeah, but he don't like Jalen Brunson. I mean he don't like it. Phillips' best chance for a ring. So here's the thing to Cleveland to win. Yeah, but here's what here's the problem with that. One, the reason he left the Lakers is because he did accept the third option role. He was good in it, but he didn't want to be in it. Going over there, what option is he gonna be?
SPEAKER_00And he's fine with that. I've I've ranked fine with what? He's fine with not being he would be like the fourth option. He's like fourth option in time. Technically he's three, because we know Joel in and out, right? So he'd be three. Come on now.
SPEAKER_03But kills me that everyone says the same thing about Joel. Niggas say when Joel is on the court, he's MVP level. So how the fuck is he how is he not gonna be ahead of Braun?
SPEAKER_00Okay, but when he's on the court, yeah, but like I my thing is, bro, I think at this stage in LeBron's career, because he doesn't care about the money, right? I think at this stage in his career, he's just trying to win. We're missing that.
SPEAKER_02I don't think, I actually don't even think he's ring chasing. I I think he's just gonna go where he can have the most fun.
SPEAKER_04I think he genuinely wants to just play where he wants. I think that, and then that's why we're missing the elephant in the room. You talk about playing and being not in the movie. I know when he wants to wants to he can go to Golden State.
SPEAKER_00Honestly, I'm gonna be real with that. But bro, I'm gonna say to you if he always wants to play. As one of the biggest bronze fans with Steph.
SPEAKER_02As one of the biggest bronze fans, if he go there, I'm gonna lose points for him. Why? Straight up. You can't play there, bruh. Why? You couldn't play. If it's not to play with that.
SPEAKER_03If it's something he does, listen, if he's not if he's not ring chasing and he wants to just do what he wants and play with who he wants, he's gonna, he would go there. I can see that. He wants to move on. But if that's what you just said, how is that like that's you gotta just No, I'm saying me personally, as a LeBron fan, I hate that.
SPEAKER_02I'd rather him stay in LA as the third option. Like, I I I completely, there's that's the only team I do not want to see him put a jersey on for, bro. But why? Huh? What's wrong with it? Because it just don't I I don't have a valid excuse for you, bro. I don't like it. Because it don't fuck the niggas. Niggas can honestly fuck Golden State. No, it's not fucking Golden State, but it just looks so nasty to have a LeBron Golden State jersey exist, bro. It just do. It just does. I'd rather go to the Sixers and ring chase before I see him play for the Warriors.
SPEAKER_00Let's not say that like it's a bad thing. I mean, look, I feel he could.
SPEAKER_02No, it's not about knocking. I'm just saying, like, I'm just saying, like, a lot of his, a lot of, a lot of his battles, a lot of the things that people knock him for is at the expense of that franchise, and you can put that jersey on. I just don't see it. I don't like it.
SPEAKER_00What's okay? So what about him going to Miami? Like, what are the issues there, if if any?
SPEAKER_02They still don't have no shooting. He beat a point.
SPEAKER_01No, yes.
SPEAKER_03Y'all didn't see the report about Clay Thompson. Okay, Miami by himself, bro. I mean, come on, bro. Clay? He's washed as hell. I mean, I ain't gonna lie, because Clayton's quiet up from the corner, I ain't gonna lie, and only give him 20 points. But they want to play for the Mavericks, dog. Come on. But three is a three. It don't matter what jersey you gotta do. Meg was stressing him out. He don't want to be in Dallas.
SPEAKER_04Look, Clay needs to just go back to being him. I feel like if you get, if you give, if you put Clay in the corner and give him about eight to ten shots a game, he could do good for you. That's all you really need out of Klay. You all you need is eight to ten shots. I'm saying he hasn't been hitting though. Yeah, I get that. But like, bro, I forgot. Why am I gonna give him shots if he either gets a big one?
SPEAKER_03What kind of what's all right so like what are we looking at as far as shooters from Miami, who would fit? Like, who do you think would be fit? Free agent? Because I really still don't even really know who all this free agent are.
SPEAKER_02Free agent or like it I think they gotta do stuff on the trademark. I don't think I don't think there's that many free agents out there.
SPEAKER_00Buddy Hill would would work. Because he's straight catchy. I don't know that he's a he might be a free agent. I know he's a fish.
SPEAKER_02I'll look it up. I'll look it up.
SPEAKER_03I know niggas about to throw numbers and statistics at me, but I'm just saying, nigga throw out Buddy Hill and nobody in this room may get a bad eye. But when I say Klay Thompson, niggas got in an uproar. Are we watching the last season? And look, I know what y'all gonna say is about us to do that.
SPEAKER_04I have no issue with Klay Thompson sitting in the corner for any team. Because it just would fit somewhere. It would hit somebody.
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying buddy, Buddy Hill to shot better than Klay last year at least. Yeah, I guess. When he played, I think he put a bunch of DMPs. Yeah, he started, he got worked out the rotation. But I'm just saying when he was in the lineup and he was getting out there. I mean, he was playing better than Klay was. Klay got worked out the lineup too on a team that had nobody.
SPEAKER_04He was hitting for Golden State too when we had him. Buddy Hill. Buddy was hitting for us.
SPEAKER_03Nah, I ain't gonna lie. That's one thing I was I know, I just brought I just kind of hating on him. But nah, Buddy is consistent no matter where he goes. He broke definitely do be hit. He'd give you, he'd give you his 15. Like uh, because I ain't gonna lie, he's my guy. I ain't gonna lie, listen. So, what about Bradley Bill for Miami?
SPEAKER_00No, I'm sorry. He has a no no shade. I think he has a loser mindset. Like he he's he doesn't have a winning mentality, bro. He looks funny.
SPEAKER_03I can't say I kinda understand where he's coming from. I kind of understand what you're saying.
SPEAKER_00Like, I as a Sixers fan, at low-key, I was like, okay, if he's gonna come off the bench, accept his role, and just give us microwave scoring. But then we got Arthur Nymons on the low, I was like, yo, that's a great move, bro.
SPEAKER_02I mean, outside of that, without trading for anyone, your best bets are like, yeah, your best bets after that are like Seth Curry.
SPEAKER_03I mean, look, if your niggas is all about the numbers and the good statistics and being consistent, he not bad. It's just you're not, he ain't his brother.
SPEAKER_00I'm starting to think like it's kind of fucked up.
SPEAKER_03If we let's think about it for a second. Yeah, hard to store free. Seth? Yeah. He kind of fucked up as far as it's like. I don't know, bro. Steph's ruined it for him. Steph ruined it for him, nigga.
SPEAKER_04Like, let's just be honest. Bro, his first team was Golden State under Steph in like his prime years. Bro, Steph ruined that shit. Hey, bro. And is he the older brother who makes shit even crazy? Yeah, he is the older brother.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03They ruined that shit for his older brother. Nigga said, nah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I ain't gonna lie, it's not that many shooters out there. You're gonna have to trade. You gotta find somebody in the trade.
SPEAKER_03And then that means you gotta take away from the team that you trying to build around already.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, or picks, yeah. We didn't really touch on it too much. Speaking of trades, but like, how we feeling about LaMelo.
SPEAKER_03No, and that was gonna say, I gotta, before we get onto it, I gotta give my eulogy, man.
SPEAKER_02Cause we talk about it. Yeah, we feel completely opposite, so you can go for it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, man. I know fuck you guys. But shout out to my guys. They had a good run. What was it from like 21 to 25 season? Charlotte Hornets was really rocking. I thought Buzz City was gonna be making some noise. Everybody on, I mean, I don't know how y'all reacted, but niggas gave me shit online when I sat here like a year or maybe a year and a half ago, and we said who was gonna be top five teams in the East, and I threw the I threw the Hornets up there. And I said, as far as players too, I said Lamello Lamello Bowl would be a top one of the top players. Niggas all looked at me crazy.
SPEAKER_02Those things didn't happen though. They did.
SPEAKER_03They were a good running. What do you mean? The Hornets were not a topic. Lamello Bowl was a Lamello ball, was the Hornets weren't a top team at any point in the season? You said top five. You said a top five team at the end. And we laughed.
SPEAKER_00Didn't say at any point in the season, bro. You didn't say that.
SPEAKER_03I'm asking you right now, were they tied top five team at any point in the season? No.
SPEAKER_00They were maybe not period.
SPEAKER_03Open and weak, maybe. They weren't playing enough. Everybody's gonna hate on them. Ox cool, that's fine. R.I.P. to the LaMelo ballpoint. Great air. All the lobs to my boy MB. And then when B Mill came in there, was acting like B-Roy. We all loved it. Shout out to my boy Khan. You're gonna do great things, just maybe not with them. But yeah, no, I think uh LaMelo to the Wolves might be cool for real. I don't know if it's gonna work how niggas think, but I fucks with it. It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be great. I'll give you that. It'll be fun. It'll be fun. I'm gonna be real. I hate the fact that they got rid of Nas Reed, man.
SPEAKER_02Nas is my God.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, I really actually heard about that, bro. Like, because you know, it seems like Dan, like, granted, hopefully they got, because maybe that'll work something out there in the Hornet. Like, because I don't want him to go there and die. That's just my thing. Like, I don't want Nas Reed to just go to Charlotte and that's the afterthought. But I was really hurt about that.
SPEAKER_02But see, I think the Hornets, like, and obviously this, you're not gonna agree because you're a big LaMelo Ball fan. I think the Hornets construction is better after the trade. It's not bad. I think it's better than Brandon Mall. I'm not saying they're better without him. I'm saying the construction of the team is that like who Kobe White?
SPEAKER_03Who's the ball handler now? Because I mean I get Lamello. It's gonna be Kobe White.
SPEAKER_02They're gonna run the team through Brandon Miller and Canon, uh Khan. And then MB. Nas is gonna play at the four. Because they moved um uh Bridges. Yeah, Bridges is going to be on Phoenix.
SPEAKER_03Oh shit, he is on Phoenix.
SPEAKER_02So, like, I mean, I'm not mad at him. Literally two days after McCall.
SPEAKER_03Nah, he's the one that's gonna die in there. Oh, I'm gonna hurt. Because what the fuck is Phoenix doing?
SPEAKER_02My problem with Mello is like, I think he's a very talented player. But I I I struggle to see him as a player that is willing to play within the moment, even if the moment doesn't call on his number. And I don't know if that's going to bode well for somebody who consistently calls plays for ant. And he's not the one getting that call in those moments. Because on the Hornets, in my opinion, the problem there was it went, it went with LaMelo Ball, right? It went with LaMelo Ball. And LaMelo Ball takes crazy circuit shots. He's he isolates a lot, and I'm not saying that's wrong. A lot of players do that. Like Luca, he dribbles 20 seconds out of the 24-second shot clock. So I'm not saying that's wrong, but I'm just saying that's not conducive to winning a championship. That's all I'm saying when it comes to that. At least Julius Randle plays decent. I take Julius Randle. I'm not saying that. Not like 101. Lamello's a better player. Lamello's a better player. But from the construction of a team and knowing your role, Julius Randle will fit his role more than Lamelo's. I think I forgot he got moves.
SPEAKER_04I think putting it.
SPEAKER_02And that's also the problem with the Timberwolves is they don't have no big men anymore.
SPEAKER_04I feel like LaMelo in that as far as like saying like he can't defer to somebody else. Yeah, he went to Brooklyn. Yeah, I think he went to Brooklyn. Oh, damn. Like, as far as like him not being able to defer to another player, I think only reason we set him in that is because he didn't have to.
SPEAKER_02I only can go off what I know though. That's what I'm saying. I can't hypothetically think he's gonna change.
SPEAKER_04Like when it when I it's not it's not even hypothetical. Like he he's done it even before he got in the league. But it's like he's we know he can play. What over in Europe? In Europe with his brothers in high school, he he has been able to pass and and show that he can be a facilitator. I vouch regardless, because we've seen him do it, and we've seen him be able to facilitate through a team, regardless of who he has. He just he just had to be the one to take the shots in Charlotte. But like we know he can facilitate. It's not like he hasn't been able to be a point guard. I think Lamelo has a full capability of being able to point guard for Ant.
SPEAKER_00I mean, uh we just gotta I mean we're gonna see.
SPEAKER_02I I I have no hope. I think they both about to average 20-something points. I think it's gonna be highlight after highlight after highlight. If he don't get no big, it's gonna get a big thing.
SPEAKER_04It's gonna get it's if they don't get no big, then that's different. I'm not saying now.
SPEAKER_02It's just you got McDaniel's at the four right now. And you got Gobert. And Gobert at the five. You got Ant at the two. Um, who's a three? Uh they just signed Io. But yeah, so Io's gonna start too. He's gonna have to start.
SPEAKER_03I ain't gonna lie. I mean, I mean, I don't know. I think I would go Ant one, Dante two. I mean, LaMella won, Dante 2. Dante's hurt.
SPEAKER_02Dante, he's not gonna go by the play.
SPEAKER_03He might miss the play.
SPEAKER_02I mean, he tore it, he tore us in the playoffs. So he's about to miss at least the Christian. Yeah, Io would be the three then.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's what I'm saying. That's a small team.
SPEAKER_00I mean, not done either. They in the LeBron hunt too, right?
SPEAKER_02So, I mean They're not getting LeBron.
SPEAKER_00But still, though, like they still in the hunt. Like, like you said, it the league probably froze.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they were in the hunt for LeBron.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I mean, everyone's technically in the hunt. Technically, everyone is it's like that. Well, I mean, maybe not anymore. Because I think the inner circle is what, the heat, Cleveland, and Philly right now, right? Like, no, it's that's just all I feel like that's what's going on.
SPEAKER_02What I've read what I read.
SPEAKER_03Genuinely, I feel like he's just gonna pick something when he wants to. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think he already knows. I think he just wants to be a little bit of a few. Well, it's Cleveland. He's going to Cleveland. He might be.
SPEAKER_03I ain't gonna lie, it's fair, it's funny, but I've kind of believed Brian Winhurst because that nigga's been like the LeBron reporter his entire career.
SPEAKER_02They also don't fuck with each other, though.
SPEAKER_03Which is so crazy to me, but yeah, he's always right. Which is like he usually has the inside. The the report that he had recently was that there's already a done deal and it's not with a Cleveland team. It's not with it, it's not.
SPEAKER_02Well, then it's probably I read it from Sam's something completely different.
SPEAKER_03That Cleveland's still in the mix.
SPEAKER_02I read from Sam's that it's Cleveland. I read from Sam's, right? That is Cleveland one, that is Golden State 2, and Miami 3. Was that recent? I believe that. Probably like bro, that's the only thing.
SPEAKER_03Because what I saw was probably like on ESPN, maybe like sometime last week.
SPEAKER_04As far as like we thinking, we thinking maybe like uh the 76s would be the best fit for him to win a ring, but I don't think that's his mindset.
SPEAKER_02But he's not going his this is gonna be his last year. We all agree with it, right? That's what I'm saying. He's not going somewhere where he's not at least the second option, bro. It's just not a good thing. He wants the season, bro. Well, he's gonna be a good thing. If he's gonna lose, he's gonna die with losing with the ball in his hand.
SPEAKER_00If he goes to Miami, he's the third option.
SPEAKER_02No, he's the second.
SPEAKER_00He's the third. To who? Bam?
SPEAKER_02Are you you're drunk?
SPEAKER_00He will be the third at this stage of his career? You drunk. He's the third. You drunk. You tripping, bro. I mean Bam got around the bigger.
SPEAKER_01No, but you think LeBron about to defer to Bam? You serious?
SPEAKER_03I just compared that.
SPEAKER_04Compared to a lot of bigs that's in the city. He's gonna go through Yaks. Bam, Bam is is a really good big in the league. And I feel like if LeBron goes there, he would ultimately be the third option.
SPEAKER_02No, Bam is gonna literally play center. Like he's not going to like the offense is gonna run through Giannis. LeBron's gonna be the point guard. Bam's gonna be the center. Naturally, Bam's gonna touch the ball the least because he's center. He's playing center. They're not gonna give him the ball in the post when Giannis is also in the post.
SPEAKER_04That's why I don't think that team makes sense.
SPEAKER_02That's easy for them to figure out what's gonna be. I'm saying if LeBron go to Miami, Bam's the one touching the ball the least. I don't know, bro. Miami's weird the point guard.
SPEAKER_04That team is weird as hell to me. I don't like it at all.
SPEAKER_00Hey, bro, we ain't we ain't talking about the business. I feel like we need to put some some some shine on it, bro. JB to the Sixers, bro, fucking needle mover, bro. Like, like, I'm not gonna lie. When that happened, my man just told me, oh, JB's on the move. I said, where'd he go? The fucking Pelicans? And then I go to Shams and I see JB in the Sixers uni. I I didn't even know how to feel.
SPEAKER_03So all right, but so that wasn't the most shocking to you? Because like, I don't think anybody could have still that.
SPEAKER_02I didn't see the Sixers coming, but I seen a trade coming. A trade, yeah. I was more shocked on what the Celtics were willing to take than what the Sixers got.
SPEAKER_00Can we talk about like Paul George? Why they were so willing to move him, bro. Like, what do y'all think happened about y'all getting rid of Paul George? No, no, no, no. The Celtics were so they were willing to move him for anything.
SPEAKER_04They didn't even give a hell about getting rid of Paul George. Uh-huh. They would the Sixties wouldn't move. Paul George is 36. JP wouldn't have to be. No, that's what I thought, but uh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02He had to be beefing with management.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. Yeah, that's what it is. That's probably what it boiled down to, especially everything that he did after they lost their playoff series.
SPEAKER_02Oh, when he was going on all these. It wasn't uh streaming.
SPEAKER_04It wasn't strategic at all. It was just like, all right, we're tired of you. And like I feel, I felt bad. Like, I'm not, I don't really feel bad because he's on a better, probably is on a better team now. But JB, bro, I could understand why his crash out was like there. Like, I kind of feel like it would have been valid. He did, you know, say some crazy shit. But like, bro, that team, he they put that team on his back, and Jason Tatum come back, and it's like, all right, we good. We got Jason. Well, the Celtics show. And then he didn't show up for game seven.
SPEAKER_03It's like, what the fuck? To put in context, I don't know. This might be a crazy way to look at it, but it's just the way my brain looks. It's like how I look at Draymond and Steph, but yet the Warriors not gonna move away from Draymond because he gave him four rings. Draymond already left. Draymond has the, huh? He already he already left. He's saying not playing there next year. But no, I'm saying, like, as far as the whole like the JB, Tatum, and Celtics thing, I compare it to Draymond Steph and the Warriors. It's like they gave they put up with all the shit Draymond talk about, do on the course, says on his podcast, but yet they kind of like he got the four rings backing it. JB had one ring, yeah, but it's like shit. Finals MVP too. Finals MVP, bro. Yeah, but it's just like it just wasn't worth it.
SPEAKER_04If they would have beat us in the middle, it still doesn't make sense to me. If they would have beat us in 22, Jalen Brown would have been winning finals MVP that year, too.
SPEAKER_00It just doesn't make sense. They even had they had so many better options that they settled for Paul George. George Paul. Not saying Paul George is a bad player, bro, but like Paul George is almost 40. And JB's in the prime of his career.
SPEAKER_02Paul George is a 17 point per game player now. Like, I don't get it.
SPEAKER_03I feel like, and this is probably some business shit. In their mind, it's like clip, like, I mean, because when you literally think of Paul George and JB, like at different levels of their career, obviously, but damn, almost kind of the same player. They wanted some. So they're looking at it like, all right, we can get Paul George. He can do a little bit of what J can be can do without all that extra thing.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they wanted somebody that can control him more than they can control JB. Yeah, they wanted somebody that was gonna expect to not be the number one.
SPEAKER_03There is now no like conversation or no confusion in that organization number one.
SPEAKER_02I just don't get the direction of the team, though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, my. No, no one does. I don't even think they do. Brad Steve, and it's funny because I seen the uh I seen when he got on there and was just talking about it, and he was just like, he honestly was like, you know, I feel like we had to look about how we would need to construct team, how to construct a team going to the future, or how the league is moving, blah, blah. Made it all sound good. And then the guy asked him at the end, and I'm sure everybody would answer the same way. He was like, Do you he they said, Do you think the team is constructed to uh be better next year? And he said, Hell no, we'll see.
SPEAKER_02He literally took a deep breath and said, We'll see. Bro, their offseason moves are Paul George, Mike Conley, and Mitchell Robinson.
SPEAKER_00Mitchell Robinson's a good thing. Mitchell Robinson. That was not bad.
SPEAKER_02Robinson cannot start center for you because guys are just going to foul him. So you're just gonna they're gonna they're gonna force you to pull him every time.
SPEAKER_00What are their other options? What were their options? What other bigger? They can't make free throws either.
SPEAKER_02Huh?
SPEAKER_00Cada can't make free throws either. I mean, I don't know. He went to Orlando.
SPEAKER_02I mean, they all suck. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03He went back to Orlando. That's actually for the other.
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying, like, that if those are your three offseason moves, and two of them guys are on their way out the league.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Hey, I mean, uh You were one of the youngest teams in the league. They probably now you're one of the oldest teams.
SPEAKER_03They look at it in their minds like take take Tatum. Like, say we take the season, you replace JB, uh, you replace J uh JB with Tatum. I feel like they think that he's gonna do what JB was just doing this year as far as carrying him with that terrible team that we will come in here and we would joke about who are the other guys that are JB are playing with, and yet they were second in the East this entire time. Well, they think Peyton Purchase is gonna take a leap. I still think I just feel like that has to be their mindset when they're like, all right, well, now JB's gone, JT will be back healthy, he can do it with them guys, you know.
SPEAKER_04It's it's a it's a difference to where you have to take a leap and you're expecting it. They have to expect him to take a leap. Then we because like last year, we didn't think that they were gonna play like that. But now coming into this season, it's an expectation set now. What if they don't reach it?
SPEAKER_00I guess last thoughts real quick. I want to touch on the Kawhi situation really quick about how like I think I think I read that the league has a second investigator looking into the Kawhi situation and like worst case scenario that like Kawhi could be suspended for the year, his contract avoid it, or like so that Kawhi's around. It's the same, it's the same thing that is it with the clip.
SPEAKER_03What is like what is Kawhi doing? Like, I couldn't. I didn't understand it last year. I didn't get it now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, uh I don't I don't I don't I'm I'm not if it if you know something that I don't say, but like it I think like the way that he they they kind of like washed money through like uh what was it like some type of company or something?
SPEAKER_00It was like yeah, they were they were paying him under the table. Like they it wasn't like on the board.
SPEAKER_03And then like, yeah, it was like he was he was getting books for these events that he like wasn't showing up to and like that was considered because that is that was a so that was a way for them to pay him less money in his contract, but him still make a lot of people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so it was like shady business with his contract, basically, and like all of that got exposed and like it never got like resolved. And the Raptors traded for him and they knew that the league was still looking, and the league was like, There can be consequences, and the Raptors was like, We don't care. We just want that guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so like But then but then when they said that he could be they they had to uh take on all the consequences, including him being void, and they basically having to pay him all over again. That's why the trade didn't still go through because they don't want to be the ones that have to offer him that contract. Now they probably will still do that, but you know what I'm saying? They now have to rework the trade because now they're taking on a brunt of everything. Like the Clippers are now basically getting alleviated of their problems. And Toronto is taking on it all. We gotta pay this guy, and he can't play next year. You know what I mean? So that's what's holding the trade up. But like, I don't know, Kawhi, I don't know, man. He's the most confusing athlete, bro, that in all sports.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like most recent, in this, like in this most recent times, it's like it's always something going on with Kawhi in this situation.
SPEAKER_00Do you think he's worth all the drama? No. Anymore? No. Not no more.
SPEAKER_04If it was like 2019, 2018. Peak of his career, yeah. Exactly. He's not there anymore. How old is Kawhi? I mean, he's the couple. How old is he? Probably 36. Yeah, he's like the same age as Paul George.
SPEAKER_02But probably like 36.
SPEAKER_04But I think you gotta think about how much he's on and off the court, bro.
SPEAKER_02I still think he's a bucket, though. Like he's nice. He is when he's in the court. But I just don't think that it's kind of similar with like Kevin Durant. It's like they they they're great players. You want them on your team, but they're not necessarily affecting championship potential anymore. 35?
SPEAKER_04We gotta think about, we still have to think about reliability. Like, bro, Kawhi is always he's gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yo, the whole Clippers, the whole Clippers' tenure was a complete and absolute failure, bro.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, between him and PG, bro.
SPEAKER_02Like it was it was a failure. They like both of them shunned the Lakers and LeBron because they were like, we're not gonna play with you, we're gonna beat you. And they still got a chip before them. And then and then most of their playoffs have been meltdowns. They've had leads and and and what's the name? Luca walked them down by himself on one leg.
SPEAKER_03And that's what I'm gonna say. I feel like that was their best chance that year is what Luca did that to him.
SPEAKER_02And I'm just gonna go.
SPEAKER_03Like that was their best team, I feel like.
SPEAKER_02I just like yo, the Clippers literally achieved nothing.
SPEAKER_03Nah, that's true. Hey, man. I don't know. I just I still feel like Kawhi worth it. On the right team, I think Kawhi worth it. I mean, with this.
SPEAKER_02I mean, if Kevin Durant, I think Kevin Durant's a better player than Kawhi right now. If he gets on this And Kevin Durant's not really affecting him.
SPEAKER_04Able to play on this Toronto team. I'm not gonna lie, this Toronto team is really set to be one of the best defensive teams in the league, considering how they played last year. I fought with Scotty Barnes. If Kawhi plays. If he plays, that's what I'm saying. If he plays, that team is a really good team.
SPEAKER_02Even if he's eligible to play and he beats this stuff, he's still only giving you what 40-50 games.
SPEAKER_04True. That is true. But like, bro, I feel like in like this this Toronto team could be great if they, you know, get access to everything they have.
SPEAKER_00Um, I mean, I do want to move on to uh the NFL. Um we're in the middle of the I mean we're not offseason, so it's like kind of slow football news, right? But like we got the the top 100 list. Uh it's it's not all the way out. I think we're down to what 61?
SPEAKER_02Top 100 list.
SPEAKER_00Um I know it's been some controversy because uh what Lamar is 69. 69. 69, that's a little crazy. And then there's a a top 10 QB list right now that's that's floating around. I think it was from ESPN.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, no, you need to be specific. It's from Jeremy Fowler. Jeremy Fowler.
SPEAKER_02No, it says it says from exec's coaches.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, it's Jeremy Fowler's list, though, but I'm just gonna Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00He's by position.
SPEAKER_03Jeremy Fowler's list, and he went from all the coaches.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's in the group. Number one is Josh Allen, number two is Mahomes, number three is Stafford, uh, four is Joe Burrow, five is Lamar, six is Dex, seven is Herbert, eight is May, nine is go off, ten is Williams. What jumps out what jumps out to y'all first?
SPEAKER_03Real quick, do you guys know the criteria before we get into this?
SPEAKER_02The criteria?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for this list.
SPEAKER_02They just they just ask who they rank the quarterbacks. What do you mean?
SPEAKER_03Nah, it's it's there's a bit of a criteria for this. Alright, so just to give a little back to it. You looking at this joint? Yeah, it's that list. Okay. Yeah, there's it by position. So you're right, it is not a personal ranking list, it's a league-wise survey from conducted by uh ESPN. And oh, so it's it's like you say, it's from roughly from like 70 to 80 NFL execs, they coaches, GMs, all that coordinators. Um they use current abil ab current ability, not a career resume. So they're asked to believe who are the best quarterbacks right now heading into the upcoming season, not who has had the greatest career or they draft or who they draft based on long-term potential. Um film carries more of the weight than statistics, so that means that evaluators are focusing heavily on arm talent, accuracy, decision making, processing speed, project presence, leadership, ability to create when plays break down, or performance against top competition. Recent performance matters most. While reputation isn't ignored, the previous season has the biggest influence. Projection is a part of the process. Executives aren't just rewarding last year's stats, they're ranking who they trust going into the upcoming season. That's why younger quarterbacks with elite traits like Caleb this year can rank ahead of veterans with longer resumes.
SPEAKER_00Um question.
SPEAKER_03Based on that, bro, they they trust So with that knowledge, now that is the list with the quarterback.
SPEAKER_04I just want to say this real quick. If that being said, why the fuck is Dak Prescott on this list?
SPEAKER_02That's not who I was about to point out. I was about to point out Justin Herbert. Exactly. Yeah, him too. Why is he on this list? So what has he done? So you said you said you said that was based off of awful film.
SPEAKER_03Oh, another thing is, oh, it another thing, I mean, and in this statement may not mean anything, but it's like it has nothing to do with like who's around the team. It is really just solely based on Yeah, so it's the it's it's solely just based on like that. So that's what I'm saying. If it's not it has nothing to do with how far his team success, it has nothing to do with how many games he won.
SPEAKER_02That's the point that I'm about to make, right? The point that I'm about to make is purely on the talent of the quarterback, right? And and this is about to sound crazy, but Patrick shouldn't be number two. If we're not going off of resumes, Patrick Mahomes should not be number two. He has decreasing numbers for the past three seasons in a row. He has not looked the same since 2022, probably. 2023, maybe. Like the last Super Bowl, the last two Super Bowl teams that they've had was been carried by the defense. Um so Patrick Mahomes being at two literally tells me we're validating him off of his career accomplishments. Because it's not about it's not about how he looked last year.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_02So that's why the list don't make that much sense to me. That's what I was gonna point out.
SPEAKER_04With that fact, Matthew Stafford should probably be number one in this list.
SPEAKER_02Matthew Stafford's probably the best quarterback in the show. Now, everyone's gonna say Josh Allen, right? Everyone's gonna say Josh Allen. But Matthew Stafford, bro, any given Sunday, like if you take if you take into account the playoffs, you take into account the regular season, you take into account clutch, you take into account stats, Matthew Stafford checks every box that none of all these guys didn't check, right? Like, okay, Josh Allen Josh Allen got the stats. He got the regular season. He's a wildcard merchant.
SPEAKER_00So it's it's it's asked it's it's looking at what, like specific QB traits like arm talent and and accuracy and like that type of stuff too.
SPEAKER_02Like it's it's all of it combined, just not the resume stuff.
SPEAKER_00So it's just like if if I just see a blind silhouette on the field and I'm I'm watching all of them as well.
SPEAKER_02If I'm watching these guys, I can point out that's the best guy. And I'm saying Patrick Mahomes has had deep, he has declining play the last three seasons.
SPEAKER_04If you want to, I don't this might be crazy to say, I don't think Joe Burrow should be this high either. No, he should not be this high either.
SPEAKER_02Hey, I got you know, we had we already had an episode of this where she won't cook me in the comments because I said Joe Burrow hasn't done nothing. This man missed the play all three years in a row.
SPEAKER_03This man been hurt, and he just gets to stay in the case. He also compiles like quotes from these execs and people that are talking about. Did y'all see the quote that the guy gave about Joe Burrow?
SPEAKER_02No, I didn't.
SPEAKER_03Shit, you not? The quote is, and let me I don't want to.
SPEAKER_00I just pull up the article too, bro.
SPEAKER_02But it's like when why y'all doing that? It's just like, yo, when like Drake, just explain to me. Can anyone give me a valid reason why Justin Herbert is better than Drake May?
SPEAKER_04He's not. If if we if you want to look at this list and I what? And like people, you know, you you you know, they gonna they're gonna argue with me. If if you want to go off of what was being said, Jalen should at least be on this list of 10. Jalen Hurts. He should be at least at 10. What do you mean? You telling me that he's not terrible as you. This was the quote from we're not going off a resume. We're going off a resume. His ability is way better than Justin Herbert. Nah, Jalen Hurts is not at the end. Leadership and being clutched, that's part of it. He's better than him at those in all of those aspects.
SPEAKER_02They're talking about what the film looks like, bro.
SPEAKER_03It adds no, that all that adds to the streets.
SPEAKER_02I know, but it comes into clutch.
SPEAKER_03But I'm saying, like, it doesn't trump. I'm not gonna lie, he got a way better arm than he does. Okay, but I'm not sure what's better. Justin Herbert's just a better player.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_04I'm not gonna.
SPEAKER_02You're talking about winning games. We're not talking about resumes.
SPEAKER_04That's it. That's what I'm saying. But when you talk about leadership and being clutched, that's part of it. That's being able to win a game, also, even if it's not talking about resume. He's has the ability to win games more than some of the quarterbacks on this list.
SPEAKER_02He's like, if you were to put him on this list, he's like the only one winning quarterbacks throwing for 200 or less yards.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02Everybody else, though, everybody else is throwing for 200 yards all every Sunday.
SPEAKER_00It is what it is, bro. Who who else do you think should not be on this list then? Should not be on this list? For Hurts to take their spot. Real quick, I just because I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_04Nobody's gonna agree, so it's no point in me saying it. I need to get us on my chest. No, I mean, you can vouch for your. It's only two people. It's Justin Herbert and Deck Prescott. Dak Prescott, more so because they give it to him because of his his able his being able to produce more yards. But like, I don't think he has a better throwing ability than Jalen Hurts. A lot of Dak Prescott. A lot of Jalen doesn't even work the middle of the field, bro. Bro, he bro, do we not be seeing the stats that Jalen Hurts be putting out? What stats? As far as like he's leading the league in the last five years in deep ball through deep ball touchdowns. Yeah, he can throw the goal route. He can't work the middle of the field. He literally cannot. Bro, okay. He can't. We watched the same game.
SPEAKER_00I hear I'll hear the argument more than that. Jalen Hurts cannot work the middle of the field than Dak. Like, I I think Dak does belong on this list.
SPEAKER_03The Cowboys weren't even in the Cowboys were only in question because of Dak Prescott in the offense last year, and that's literally been documented. That was the worst defense.
SPEAKER_02We get, we get, we get Jalen has done more. Jalen has Jalen has definitely accomplished more, and I value that. I value that. But that's not what they're talking about on Jalen.
SPEAKER_03And as fucked up as this may sound, the one thing that I you gotta you gotta remember is when they do this, this has nothing to do with about the team around that person. Right. Should I take that? Pretty much saying, like, and this might be a stretch, but it's pretty much saying they're like, you take, since they rank number one, Josh Allen's number one, they're pretty much saying Josh Allen on any of these teams in the NFL is probably gonna be successful. That's how I feel like they look at that.
SPEAKER_00Are we fine with Jared Goff? Like, are we just not talking golf? Like, I take it.
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry, I can't get another. No, the quote was that Joe Burrow is the closest thing to Tom Brady in the league right now. Wow. That was the quote about Joe Burrow.
SPEAKER_02Wait, Joe Burrow?
SPEAKER_03I'm just that's what I was trying to let get out, but y'all wanted to Jalen Hurts earlier. I was trying to get it out, but niggas just love to talk about James. Joe Burrow is the closest thing to Tom Brady. That's why he's above Lamar Jackson.
SPEAKER_04That is the closest thing to Tom Brady.
SPEAKER_03That is the quote. And then they just gave the head to head. They gave the head-to-head stats, Joe Burrow versus Lamar. Joe was 2-7, Lamar 7-2.
SPEAKER_02We said we saw that.
SPEAKER_03Two MVPs, three all pros versus zero from Joe, 222 total touchdowns versus 169, 22,608 yards versus 20,800, and a career passer rating of 101.1 versus 102.2. Lamar lit Now again, numbers clearly is not supposed to be a thing about this, but you just put on the tape and you can tell that nigga outplays him every game. Like he don't, you don't even have to go go, like, you don't even have to use numbers, whatever. You could just watch film, watch the highlights, and you know, oh yeah, Lamar played way better than Joe. Hell, Snoop fucking Tyler Huntley played a damn near better game than Joe Burrow in a playoff game. Like, what are we talking about?
SPEAKER_00It's a lot wrong with this list, bro. I I I don't think Herbert should be on there. I don't think Jared Goff should be on there.
SPEAKER_04So who is Jared Goff is solid.
SPEAKER_00Jared Goff.
SPEAKER_03I understand he's solid, bro, but Jared Goff be hooping. So who is one we can all agree on? Because I'm gonna be real.
SPEAKER_02That just shouldn't be on there or shouldn't be where he are. No, the whole 10. I'm fine with that being in the top 10. I just think it should be in a different order.
SPEAKER_04So Justin Herbert should be like who would you replace if you take Justin Herbert off?
SPEAKER_00I would give it to Hurts. Bro, that doesn't make sense. Not Justin Herbert. I thought you said Jared Goff, my bad. Uh Jared Goff.
SPEAKER_04So you wouldn't take him over Goff, is what I'm trying to say.
SPEAKER_02Bro, brother, I'm not trying to take it. I'm not trying to take it off. I'm not trying to take you because I want you to feel like I'm picking away your manager. I'm literally looking at his stats, bro. 75% of his games are under 200 passing yards, and 50% of his games are under 60% completely.
SPEAKER_00I thought we weren't looking at like what they just did. Like I What you mean? Like I thought we that that wasn't like for this list. Like I thought that wasn't like the criteria for like No, he said it was everything.
SPEAKER_02It just wasn't your resume. It wasn't a fact, like, like for example, Mahoney. Mahomes won uh Super Bowl in in what 2022. Like they're saying they're not looking at that. They're looking at what we last seen, your talent, your overall talent, and what you do on the football.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so you're telling me that Jared Goff has more overall talent than Gene Learts?
SPEAKER_02Yes, because Jared Goff doesn't win games with a hundred and five.
SPEAKER_03If you need to go in depth a little more, this is literally this is what they said it was current ability, not current reserve. Voters are asked who they believe are the best quarterbacks right now, heading into the upcoming season, not who has had the greatest career or who they draft based on long-term potential. Film carries more weight than statistics. Film, evaluators, focusing on the floor. Stats is filming traits such as arm talent, accuracy, decision making, processing speed, pocket presence, leadership, ability to create plays when breakdown, performance against the top competition.
SPEAKER_02Bro, half of her's games, he has under 60% completion.
SPEAKER_03That doesn't sound like stats. While reputation isn't ignoring as a person.
SPEAKER_02How is film not stats? If I watch your ability to make a throw, right, is that not equivalent to the stat that you produce?
SPEAKER_00Has Jared Goff ever been in MVP discussions?
SPEAKER_02Probably like that one season when they started off hot, but it probably like the first month of the season.
SPEAKER_00Jalen Hurts literally what not okay. That was like what, four years ago? Two years ago.
SPEAKER_02When Jalen Hurts was getting MVP votes.
SPEAKER_00Literally two years ago, bro.
SPEAKER_02That was two years ago.
SPEAKER_04He was in the MVP conversation both years he went to the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_02Jared Goff. But that's not what they're looking at, right? They're not looking at who got MVP votes.
SPEAKER_03No. I'm just really saying if we're being honest, if I had to sum this up, this it and it says it, this is pretty much an opinion-based thing. I've only heard about this. But they're not what it's not, they're not just saying, like, oh, because this quarterback went X amount of games with this team, it's got it like the biggest.
SPEAKER_02That's why, for example, if we were talking two years ago, maybe I'd agree with you. But he's talking about right now, but look at that's why Tyler.
SPEAKER_03I feel like that's why, for example, they have got, and I mean, I don't agree with it. But no, I'm fuck that. That's why they have like Dak on here at six. You uh most people probably be like, why the fuck is Dak on this list? But based off of what he's him solely himself was doing on that field, fuck it. Dak was going off. He was in MVP contemptions for half his time.
SPEAKER_02If you want to tell me Jalen Hurts was a top 10 quarterback two years ago, I believe you. Is he a top 10 quarterback going into the season? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Based off of what literally just happened in 2025? No.
SPEAKER_00Bro, he's winning games with a hundred passing yards. At the quarter, and it's like you're moving me. Y'all are moving me.
SPEAKER_03Again, like this, and again, this, again, this is just a summer. He is a winner. Yeah, I give you that. He's a winner. When it matters, but that's not what he's talking about. Like what he has matters, yes. But this again, this is not none of that. This ain't got shit to do with that. This is purely just I'd say I'd be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02But if I'm in if I'm in the playoffs, I'd rather have Jalen Hurst than Justin Herbert any day in the playoffs.
SPEAKER_03Yes, but it also depends on who's on my team. And again, I know you get this a lot.
SPEAKER_00You're gonna we always go back and forth, but y'all have one of the best teams built.
SPEAKER_03Y'all have had one of the best teams built over the last three to four seasons. Y'all need to be in the fucking Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_00So, okay, let me let me ask, what do y'all think the list order should be given who is on the list? Given who is on the list, what do y'all think the list order should be?
SPEAKER_04I still think um Matthew Stafford should be one. Like he's like, he has the perfect quarterback stature for AV.
SPEAKER_02Same. I think Stafford should be one. Lamar, no.
SPEAKER_03No, I nah. Listen, I know, and if we're if we're sticking to the outcome not mattering and about what is he does on the field in the moment, I still believe Josh Allen's number one. It goes Josh Allen, then Stafford.
SPEAKER_02Give me Stafford. I go Josh Allen. I'll take Stafford, then Josh Allen. Yeah, I got Josh second, so I'm I mean.
SPEAKER_03I mean, like it's like we can, yeah, we can interchangeable.
SPEAKER_04So where would you put this what you said about Pat? What you said about Pat, where would you put Pat on this list?
SPEAKER_02Um I'm gonna be real with y'all. I think I think just compared to everybody else, Pat still probably gotta stay at three.
SPEAKER_00I think he's above Joe Burrow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I mean, Joe, I think I wholeheartedly think Joe Burrow should drop.
SPEAKER_00I think it's Matt, then I think it's Allen, then I think it's Mahomes.
SPEAKER_03Out of everyone on this list, he had the least impactful season. Who? Holmes. Oh, yeah. That's what I'm saying. So like that's why I feel like he's just I honestly don't think he should be on here. This is not a criteria. This is not a career.
SPEAKER_04When you look at it, when you look at the votes, it's obviously just like, oh, who they like the best.
SPEAKER_03That's yeah, it's it's all again.
SPEAKER_04That's why.
SPEAKER_03And that's not like the criteria. And I granted, I wanted to think about the criteria, but it's like, it's probably just again, it all comes down to who they like.
SPEAKER_02Mahomes just living off of his past. Like, if you really analyze Mahomes' play in the last three seasons, that joint's declining, bro.
SPEAKER_03Like, in their mind, they're like, oh, he can still spin them.
SPEAKER_02He has not been the same quarterback. I'm not ready to call him trash, because I'm not gonna say that. No, no. But he has not been the number one quarterback.
SPEAKER_00I think their argument is gonna be look at the supporting cast, though, right? Like, he can't catch the ball himself.
SPEAKER_02Drake May's number one receiver still doesn't have a job. Look, bro.
SPEAKER_00All I'm saying is, bro, that the argument.
SPEAKER_02Justin Herbert hasn't had a coach or an offensive line for like three seasons.
SPEAKER_00Their argument is gonna be look at his receiving court. Hollywood Brown, fucking Rasheed, well, Rasheed Rice is not even on the field half the time. For 40-year-old Travis Kelsey, right?
SPEAKER_03For AJ Brown, Rasheed Rice would have been our best player. I ain't gonna lie. Another thing that might shake, I don't know how y'all feel. Well, I think I throw Caleb in the top five.
SPEAKER_02No. Caleb Williams over Drake May? Why?
SPEAKER_03No, for real. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not gonna. I don't think Drake May can make some of them throws that Caleb was making in the play. In the last couple seasons, in the last couple weeks of the season, I seen your video in the playoffs.
SPEAKER_02I got you.
SPEAKER_03Huh?
SPEAKER_02I seen your video. I got you. I'm not gonna play.
SPEAKER_03So, all right, specifically, that broken play, and we just talked about the criteria. What if that broke? I don't think that broken play, the Cole Kavanna in the bag and end zone. I don't think he can do that. But I just think one play is not enough to do that. He had another one with Roma Duse that was on the style and then Aaron Rodgers. All right, so I was hating.
SPEAKER_04You can keep saying it, like I was hating, I was hating the troll leak, bro. I'm not gonna lie. Caleb Williams is a fucking playbook.
SPEAKER_00But he's not a better quarterback than Drake maybe.
SPEAKER_04I didn't even say that, guys. I just think I threw Caleb in the top five.
SPEAKER_02Y'all just like guys. But if we already named three guys and then you say Caleb, so then who I mean I I We already named three, and then you say Caleb. So Drake may probably kinda gotta get the and you then you say you like Dak too. You didn't say Lamar.
SPEAKER_03We didn't say I say I like these guys, don't mean I'm just saying if we I just assumed that Drake wasn't in your life. If I'm doing this and I had to go off, if I'm going off that criteria, my five right now, maybe it would change in ten minutes. Don't crucify don't crucify me. Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford.
SPEAKER_02It's still gotta be bad. It still gotta be bad.
SPEAKER_04Go ahead and put them there. I know who you're about to say just go ahead and put him there.
SPEAKER_03Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Drake May.
SPEAKER_00Three? Okay.
SPEAKER_03Caleb Williams and Lamar.
SPEAKER_00You put Drake over Lamar?
SPEAKER_03Off that last season.
SPEAKER_02Drake is Drake, Drake was better than Lamar last year.
SPEAKER_03Last year for sure. Now we get into the top 100, whole different story.
SPEAKER_02The top 100 sucks. That that that's a good thing. But we are we've been we've been on here years talking about the cards. Let's hear it. I guess about the couple of things.
SPEAKER_03Also, one thing I I saw, I don't know if it was anyone else knew, but apparently when they go to ask these guys this, they're asking this them last year around Thanksgiving.
SPEAKER_02Oh, they're not even completing the season.
SPEAKER_03No, so there were time that they were asking these guys, Lamar was just coming off an injury and he was just trying to get his legs.
SPEAKER_02Bro, they had Cortland Sutton as a better player than Lamar Jackson.
SPEAKER_00Like, what are we doing? Bro, I love Cortland, bro, but Hey, I I mean, I I guess I just to defend myself a little bit. I guess I was just like, I don't know, confused, I guess, with the criteria for that weak ass list. That's why I was just like, Also, uh, I see his other ones keep coming up too.
SPEAKER_03Like, he's got multiple ones, it's not even just I know, it's a different position. The linebacker one had Fred one, even though he didn't play a snap, and Roquan two. I get it, but like the quote on Fred was like, Fred can just change the game no matter what he can do. Like, it's just he plays the game at a different level, he sees the game at a different. And I'm just like, damn, all right.
SPEAKER_02It's like the best player in the NFL?
SPEAKER_03Flyingback. Linebacker. Oh, the best player.
SPEAKER_02I mean, what are the other?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, Fred Warner is the best player. I would I would say yes.
SPEAKER_03I mean, well, if I showed you the list, he'd probably.
SPEAKER_02Who's Rokan? Who's two? I don't know. I got three. Rokon took a step back.
SPEAKER_03But if you just say if you just said you couldn't give me a two, then Rokan's two. Come on, bro.
unknownFred What?
SPEAKER_03That's not what that means. Fred and Warner are 1A, 1B. Like, what are we talking about?
SPEAKER_02Fred Warner and Rokon are 1A and 1B? Yes. Rokan Smith? I do think. So who's the second best, who's the second best middle inside line? I gotta look through. I don't I don't know all the linebackers. I gotta look through. Rokon's.
SPEAKER_03Russian Schwessinger. Come on, bro.
SPEAKER_02Rokon Swift easily took back. Diablo, like Bro, he took a step back. He easily took a step back. Ravens fans complain about Rokwan.
SPEAKER_03So does fucking Fred Warner. He he has no leg. He literally took a step back.
SPEAKER_02Getting hurt is different than not playing as your usual self.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I mean, by logic, he ain't out there doing what he used to.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I'll look. I'll look, but I'm just saying. Roquan ain't looked that good to me last year.
SPEAKER_00Um, well, uh, I think that does it for another episode of the fourth down part. We can end it there. Uh, we can take this offline for real. But back at it again with the normal guys. Thanks for tuning in. And as always, thanks for being my friend.
SPEAKER_02Peace. Peace.
