WOFOYO SHORT: The Fast Track to Sanctification Nobody Told You About

C-Dub and Bones Season 5

We challenge traditional views of holiness in this episode, arguing that sanctification isn't merely about avoiding sin but being set apart for a divine purpose. The misconception that we must achieve perfect holiness before God can use us has paralyzed many believers, preventing them from fulfilling their mission.

• Holiness isn't primarily about what we don't do but what we're called to do
• Obedience is the fast track to sanctification—better than sacrifice
• Biblical figures like David, Solomon, and Paul were used by God despite significant flaws
• Being mission-focused naturally helps shed behaviors that distract from your purpose
• God reveals areas needing growth not to disqualify you but to refine you for your calling
• You're operating on Christ's holiness, not your own
• Pursuing your divine purpose often leads to freedom from things that previously bound you

Speaker 1:

Hey everybody, this is C-Dub with another Wofo Yo Short. I want to talk to you about holiness. For some of you, this is not the way that you were taught it and that's why it's going to upset you. Just remember we call this. Get in the word for yourself, wofoyo, and if you don't like what I say, by all means get in the word. Find out what it says. Don't take my word for it. Sure, get angry. Get in the Word for yourself. But I want to talk about the kingdom of God and the way we teach.

Speaker 1:

Holiness oftentimes does not gel with either biblical Christianity or Judaism. In many circles, we've relegated holiness to a list of things that we don't do. We don't do this, we're sanctified. We don't do this, we don't do that, we don't do this and we don't do that. You know I was just reading one of my favorite passages in the Bible, matthew 23,.

Speaker 1:

And Jesus gets to talking about the scribes and the Pharisees. He said they sit in Moses' seat. So whatever they tell you to do, do it, but don't do after their works, and sanctified. You know we've relegated this to these things that if you do these things, then you're not holy. If you have these sins that you do, that you're not holy and for God to use you you have to go through a consecration process and you have to basically fast and pray and get all this sin out of your life. Now, the only problem with it is that might be true for some folks. For most folks that ain't true and you ain't going to find that too much in. You do have it with Jesus, you do have it with Moses, you do have wilderness experiences.

Speaker 1:

But what we've been using that doctrine to do sanctified, consecrated means that you're set apart. But you're not set apart just to be set apart. You're set apart for a purpose. And let me tell you what C-Dub's fast track for this is. It's called obedience. Obedience is better than sacrifice and rebellion is as a sin of witchcraft.

Speaker 1:

Old Samuel told Saul I'll also go back to James. Go back to James. You show me your faith without your works. I'll show you my faith by my works. Because guess what? Bones and I have had a couple different discussions about this, but I think it just needs bare saying I don't know why the Lord put it on my heart to just do this as a short. But what can happen is we get paralyzed because we're not holy enough. You'll never be holy enough. We're not operating on our own holiness. We're operating on the holiness and the anointing of Jesus Christ. You were never going to be holy enough to make it in. You were never going to be holy enough to make it in. You were never going to be holy enough to do kingdom work. That's why jesus did it.

Speaker 1:

But if you look at all these other examples of people that were used by god, once you know that you've been set apart for a purpose, then really it's. It's going to line up to lord. What do you want me to do? I might not even know how to achieve that purpose. Lord, what's the first steps? Is that to wait Could be, lord, is there somebody you want me to talk to? What do you want me to read? Is there a preparation stage, as there often is? What do you want me to do? And then simply doing that no-transcript, that we do nothing.

Speaker 1:

And what happened was in doing nothing. Now we don't take the first step on that journey in which, in my experience and I'm sure, bones is pretty similar, because we were doing it that opposite way, and when the Lord really started to use us is when we began flaws and all to the Lord really started to use us is when we began flaws and all to step out on that journey. Then, all of a sudden, there was all this stuff that just started coming off of us and we were like what in the world? Definitely not the way it was taught. They want people to. You need to tarry and you need to pray and you need to travail and all this. No, you need to be on mission. You need to know what your mission is and if you're going to be sanctified or set apart, it's not just so you can claim how holy you are. To hell with that. You're sanctified for a purpose and a mission. Find out what your purpose and mission is.

Speaker 1:

And then everything else, all this stuff that breaks off of you, all this stuff that falls to the wayside as you're pursuing what God told you to do and as you're just simply being obedient. You would be amazed at how the relationship builds, but also in how much stuff you don't even think about. All this stuff that used to have you bound I'm speaking from experience. All this stuff that used to have you bound, it goes. You find out, you go. Oh my gosh, you know, I haven't even thought about doing that. Why? Because you were in the process of being obedient to the Lord and fulfilling your purpose. You are sanctified for something. We focus on being sanctified from something. We focus on being sanctified from something and I don't want to deny that reality. But we are sanctified to be obedient and to fulfill God's purpose in our life and if you will pursue that, you will be shocked at the results that you will get. By just obeying the Holy Spirit, just by reading the Word of God and doing what it says, that's going to yield fruit.

Speaker 1:

We have so complicated these things because, by a lot of the modern church and the holiness denominations and all these people that are doing that, by their definition, ain't no way God could have used David. God wouldn't have used Samuel. According to that, god wouldn't have used Solomon, despite all his flaws. Definitely wouldn't have used Saul of Tarsus, the Apostle Paul there's all these examples. None of the judges wouldn't have used them. Guess what boys and girls? They were anointed. They were anointed to fulfill their purpose, flaws and all.

Speaker 1:

Now, if there's things that are flat out sin, then you know better Whether you do them, whether you don't do them, you know better. That doesn't change the call of God. Don't do them. You know better. That doesn't change the call of God. But as you head toward that mark, as you pursue and as you let the Holy Spirit guide you through what God's called you to do, you're going to find two things.

Speaker 1:

And this is going to sound contradictory. It's really not. You're going to find there's just a whole bunch of stuff that doesn't appeal to you anymore. Why? Because it's a distraction from the mission. If you become mission-focused and focused on the one that gave you the mission, jesus Christ, then a lot of stuff's going to become irrelevant. You ain't got to worry about not doing this and not doing that. You ain't got to worry about that. Why? Because you know that it's a big distraction and a big deterrent and could possibly sabotage what God's called you to do, bottom line. But the other thing we'll tell you and this again, I know you might say it's contradiction, contradiction but if you're going to get holy, if the lord's going to make you holy, then that also involves the process of revealing what kind of garbage you still got left, and don't be surprised when that happens. Okay, doesn't negate your calling one bit. But now there's some things that need to be addressed, and just addressing them with the lord is usually enough if you will take what he tells you to heart.

Speaker 1:

I had several friends of mine don't even know each other give the same kind of testimony that, hey, they were bound up, had something hemming them up, and next thing you know they had to have a very, very honest conversation with God. And God let them know hey, here's where you're messing up. You're doing this sin because of this issue, and it would seem like they're unrelated, but it's connected in the kingdom of God. So be willing to be obedient and realize that you're set apart. You're sanctified. You are holy because you've been called to do something, not because you've been sent to. You're not holy just so you can haul off and do nothing. If you're going to do that, just join a monastery. Probably be a better fit. Probably be a better fit. So go out there, let the Lord use you and trust for the holiness of Jesus Christ, trust his blood, trust his name, trust in the cross and let his process work through you.
