WOFOYO SHORT: Beyond the Ego-The Path to Personal Resurrection
Resurrection lies at the heart of the Christian faith, but what if it's more than just a historical event? What if it's actually a spiritual pattern we're meant to experience in our own lives?
On this special Good Friday episode, we explore the profound connection between sacrifice and resurrection in our personal spiritual journeys. Drawing from years of ministry experience—including our own "wilderness" seasons where dreams seemed to die—we share vulnerable insights about what happens when we truly surrender our plans to God.
Many believers receive promises or callings from God only to watch them seemingly wither away. We've been there, thinking we were destined for prominent ministry positions, only to face disappointment and confusion. But through these experiences, we've discovered a powerful truth: resurrection power flows most freely where willing sacrifice has prepared the way.
Jesus said, "No man takes my life from me. I lay it down freely. Because I lay it down freely, I am able to take it up again." This principle extends beyond Christ's sacrifice to our own spiritual journeys. When we release our grip on titles, accolades, validation, and ego-driven ambitions, we create space for God's resurrection power to work. Though surrender rarely comes easily—we admit sometimes yielding "kicking and screaming"—it ultimately leads to new life.
What dream or calling seems dead in your life today? What might the Holy Spirit be asking you to surrender? Remember, when you're willing to lay everything down and say, "Lord, you're enough," you position yourself for resurrection. Subscribe now and join us on this journey of discovering how God brings new life from what appears completely dead.

Hey everybody, welcome to another Wofo Yo Short where we teach you to get in the word for yourself. I'm C-Dub and the day that this audio is going to be airing is Good Friday, and so I was thinking we almost did something about Easter, about resurrection, with Bones and I for the full episode that's going to come out Tuesday and we end up going another direction. But I wanted to talk to you all about resurrection and, yes, jesus is the Son of God, eternal Son of God. He is alive and well, he is resurrected and I don't want you to take what I'm getting ready to say is minimizing that in any manner whatsoever. Definitely not the intent. But we celebrate his sacrifice for us, his sacrifice for us, and because he was willing to sacrifice that ultimate sacrifice, he was proclaimed righteous and the Bible says resurrected and raised by the spirit of holiness. And I want you to think about some things. Just on a personal note, I know this is getting the word for yourself and you can check what I'm saying by getting in the word for yourself, but as one who, if you've heard anything we've said over the years with Bones and I ones who thought we were going to be hot stuff ministers at one point in our life, 20 years ago, and then had to really stop and develop that true relationship with the Lord over the years and have that wilderness experience.
Speaker 1:We might know a thing or two about what it looks like when something's dead. Like when something's dead and the very fact that we're able to get up and either do it on YouTube or do it through a podcast or however it's done. If we are able to do this, given what we've gone through, which is nowhere near what the cross of Jesus Christ meant for the son of God. But if we're able to get through, we might know a little bit about resurrection. Jesus Christ knows a lot, okay, but we know a little bit about thinking something is dead, thinking that maybe you missed it, thinking that maybe that thing that God told you he was going to do, going. Lord, I trust you, I love you, but I don't know how in the heck you're going to do that. We've been there.
Speaker 1:So, as I look back on it and was thinking about this today, if you look at it, you had to be willing to sacrifice it. Jesus said no man takes my life from me. I lay it down freely. Because I lay it down freely, I am able to take it up again. Okay, and so those promises from God, those promises of God concerning you, whatever they are, I would encourage you that if the Holy Spirit goes, hey, can I have that? Be willing to yield it up. You ain't got to like it, lord knows.
Speaker 1:I did it kicking and screaming to a degree, but Lord, you said well, a lot of times when I went, lord you said, wasn't about God's integrity as much as it was my ego. Because all those things he said about me, man, they were good, they were validation, they were the exact same thing that man I've been praying for and wanted. Other people didn't know it, but man, they'd come along. The Lord says this, the Lord says that. And it puffed up my ego and eventually got to the point to where I was willing to sacrifice. Lord, I don't care, I love you, you're enough. I don't care about the ego, I don't care about the prestige. I don't care about if people say he's a really good preacher. He's not, whatever.
Speaker 1:It got to the point that if you're willing to just be obedient and lay everything else down, lay down the accolades, lay down the titles, lay down all the ministerial BS, lay down all the thorns that are choking out the word, living through you. There are cares of this world. If you're willing to lay those things down, you will see a resurrection period. Y'all have a good one. Wofoyo hey, everybody.
