WOFOYO SHORT: Who Are You Really Pleasing: God or Man?

C-Dub and Bones Season 5

Freedom in Christ or submission to religious systems? That's the challenging question at the heart of this thought-provoking episode that exposes the spirit of control infiltrating many churches today.

Jesus taught that we cannot serve two masters. When church protocols and pastoral directives become more important than the leading of the Holy Spirit, believers find themselves trapped in a system that produces obedient church members rather than mature followers of Christ. Galatians 5:1-3 reminds us to "stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free" – a freedom that applies not just to the law of Moses but to all religious systems that create bondage....including our church protocols.

Perhaps most provocatively, we explore why some believers actually prefer controlled environments. The responsibility of Spirit-led living can feel overwhelming to those accustomed to being told what to do. Yet this discomfort doesn't justify returning to systems that restrict the liberty Christ died to provide. True spiritual authority flows from authentic relationship with God, not titles or positions. As Jesus taught in Matthew 20, genuine leadership in His kingdom manifests as servanthood, not domination.

Speaker 1:

Hey friends, the Rob Reverend Show Bob Hobob here still waiting on that $777 Shia Nola seat. But while I'm waiting, I want to talk to you about submission. You know, over here at Hoodwink Ministries International I ministered in the Virgin Islands you know are big proponents of things being done decently and in order. That's right. And you know there's no greater evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus than doing exactly what your pastor says. When he says to do it, mr Rowe, skew me a dollar and bring me my tea. That's what I'm talking about. He says jump you say how high. While them heretics over at WoeFoYo are saying that you can know the Lord for yourself and hear his voice. That ain't decently and in order. How you gonna control that? Well, right after Christ ordained the church, he set up a man in charge to manage your faith and if you don't do what he say, well, you're in rebellion. If he's in authority, you're to carry out his orders, no matter what rule he break, no matter if you think he fake, no matter who wife he take. So's the estate, for goodness sake. And since we know you don't want to be out of submission, we here at Hoodwink Ministries are offering you a bonafide, legitimate dipped in miracle water from the River Jordan, certificate of submission for a love offering of $77 plus shipping and handling. Remember, friends, this is Reverend Show Bob Hobob asking you why would you want to know the Lord for yourself when we can know him for you? Hey everybody, this is C-Dub. Welcome to another Wofoyo Short, and I've been seeing some things out there, so let's address it.

Speaker 1:

Jesus talked about serving two masters. He said you can't have two masters. You're going to serve one and neglect the other. You're going to love one and neglect the other. You're going to love one and hate the other. He also talked about you can't serve God and mammon. But also, there comes a time in your walk that people aren't going to understand and you're just going to have to make a decision if you're going to follow man and man's doctrine or if you're going to follow the word. If you're going to make a decision if you're going to follow man and man's doctrine or if you're going to follow the word, if you're going to follow God, if you're going to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, to glorify Christ Jesus in you. Galatians 5, 1 through 3. This is the new king. Stand fast, therefore, in the liberty by which Christ has made us free. Do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. This is the new king, so he's talking about the law and he's talking about circumcision, but that right there also applies to our church protocols.

Speaker 1:

And there is a spirit of control that I see raising its ugly head again and again, and it turns us into men pleasers rather than those that are serving God. Get alone, go out into the wilderness, have your experience, develop that relationship with Christ, and then you don't have to worry about ego, then you don't have to worry about if you win a submission to Reverend Showbob, hobob and all that mess. Because and there was a guy I used to go to church with over in just north of Marion, illinois, a little town called White Ash. Dude's name was Dave Gardner, ran the food pantry One heck of a guy, and everybody was big. In this church you need to submit to your pastor, you need to submit to your leadership, you need to do this, you need to do that. And this spirit of control crept in that place big time. Out of all the people that got caught up in it, I was one for a minute before the Lord straightened me out drastically. Dave was unaffected because Dave said the pastor didn't call me to go here't call me to go here. God called me to go here and when God tells me to leave, that's when I leave. God bless, dave Gardner.

Speaker 1:

But we get so caught up in the. Did I offend this person? Was I out of submission? We keep putting the cart before the horse and if you belong to a place where there's a spirit of control, they're just blowing a lot of smoke up your ass to keep you in check, especially if you are called and if you are anointed. And the thing that a lot of people are never going to understand. And you know, god bless those that are in ministry positions, especially those that are being faithful. But that whole system is designed to make cookie cutters out of everybody. It's the same protocol and it's not even necessarily designed to make good Christians. It's designed to make obedient church members.

Speaker 1:

Oh, if you're going to be on staff, well then, you really got to fall into line. You know, christ set me free from the curse of the law. It's the law of sin and death, but it was also a law of regulations. Hey, if you sin, do this. You got to do this sacrifice. If you mess up. Oh, also got to bring this offering three times a year, also got to do this, do that. And the spirit of life and liberty in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. Law of sin and death. Quit worrying about church members' opinions, and this is not liberty to sin. Let me be clear. This is liberty to serve, but this is liberty to serve how the Lord deems and not necessarily all the hoops that the Reverend Shobob Hobobs of the world want to make you jump through.

Speaker 1:

There's a lot of this stuff. It's cultural, it descends from a controlling spirit because, man, I'm going to tell you this is sad. There are certain people that freedom and liberty in Christ Jesus is just too scary. They can't handle the freedom. They can't handle not being told what to do. I remember Bones talking about when he was over in 82nd Airborne. They had a guy that had been to drill sergeant school and all this squared away. But when he went to selection he could not handle it for special forces. And part of the reason why was you don't get told every step. Here's what we're going to do, here's when we're going to do it. Be there, do it Too free. And if you're used to having everything dictated to you, if you're used to being told every little thing that you're supposed to do, rather than letting the Holy Spirit and letting the Word of God mature you to where you can be trusted without having to get directions all the time, man, you're going to fall back to that spirit of control. And it is spirit and it's evil, because we're to use that liberty that we have in Christ Jesus as an opportunity to serve.

Speaker 1:

Jesus called the disciples unto himself. This is Matthew 20, 25, and 26. Said you know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you. But whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. You have to have a servant's heart and keep in mind that you are serving the king, not little church minions, not somebody with a pastor and apostle title. There is apostolic authority.

Speaker 1:

There's also a lot of people with names and titles that ain't got the goods. Why aren't C-dub and bones popular in certain settings? Because if you ain't got the goods and you get an attitude, c W Mullins will politely inform you that you don't have that authority because you don't have the goods. You know what? There are some times that in my pride and ego, I was getting ready to do that and the Lord corrected me. So the thing is just develop that relationship, use it as an opportunity to serve and stop worrying about being a man pleaser and serve Jesus Christ. Hey, everybody, thanks for listening.
