Start here if you’ve ever felt caught between a clear word from God and zero idea how to move it forward. We open Hebrews 4:14–16 and trace a path from bold confidence at the throne of grace to practical, on-the-ground steps that actually build what God reveals. Along the way, we explore the synergy between prophetic gifting—seeing patterns, sensing God’s will, naming direction—and apostolic gifting—organizing people, shaping structure, and turning conviction into movement.

We share candid stories about discernment before and during COVID, integrity under pressure, and the gap that forms when altitude replaces empathy. Prophetic people can drift into distance when a bird’s-eye view forgets names and needs. Apostolic leaders can default to motion without mission when structure outpaces revelation. We unpack how those blind spots show up in churches, teams, and workplaces, and why leadership demands more than influence—it requires courage, clarity, and a willingness to ask whether we’re building the right thing, not just building it well.

What does it look like when vision and strategy walk in step? It looks like praying not only for what God is doing in your family, church, and city, but also for how to implement it. It looks like feedback loops where implementers inform visionaries and visionaries inspire implementers. It looks like Jesus—fully present with people, yet precise about purpose—who knows our weakness, leads with compassion, and still gets the mission done. If you’re wired to see, ask for steps. If you’re wired to build, ask for a word. Then watch grace become a plan and conviction become action.

A Great High Priest And Confidence

SPEAKER_00

Everybody, welcome to another Well Folio Short. This is C Dub. Hebrews 4, as we get in the word for ourselves. We're going to go verses 14 through 16. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let's hold firmly to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weakness, but one who has been tempted in all things just as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let's approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for our help at the time of our need. One of the things that can happen with a prophetic gifting, and again we wrote wrote about this in our book, is that you kind of get a bird's eye view. If you ever get that gifting, you get a bird's eye view and you can see what's going on. And so you're seeing big picture. You're the reason I say it like that is because you can see what's happening. You can see what God intends. He'll show you his plan, his desire, his will for a certain situation, maybe for a certain body of believers, maybe for certain for a certain country, certain area. And sometimes, uh even with individuals, that being said, the one with individuals isn't necessarily my strong suit. There's there's people that are way more gifted at that than I am. I think one of the things that the Lord kind of uses me with is just pattern recognition and seeing that, hey, this has happened before, and human nature being what it is, is here's where it's going. And people are like, how in the world did you know that? Well, number one, we don't want to negate the role of the Holy Spirit and uh divine gifting, but at the same time, we don't want to brag and so well, this is all me because I'm so super spiritual. That that's not being honest either, because you know, the Lord has also blessed you with a little bit of logic, with a little bit of experience. A lot of times we don't think that our experiences can be a gift from God because not all of our experiences are great. They're not all pleasant, but if you have the proper attitude and you're teachable, you'll be surprised how many of those experiences that we deemed unpleasant were actually beneficial to us. In seeing this, though, there is a section in our book where we got to talking about the difference between people with an apostolic calling or gifting and people with a prophetic gifting. One of the reasons we did that is because these two offices, these two giftings, uh actually cover each other's blind spots pretty well. And it's a reason they should be working together. And as one who who's walked uh in one of those, uh I can tell you that, man, when the Lord starts showing you things, when he starts revealing things to you, you can see things bigger picture and be a hundred percent right. I I've mentioned this before that there were things that happened right before COVID, and the Lord shared them with me, and I'm going, oh. Well, it helped me deal with some of the things that happened during that time pretty well. It helped me maintain my integrity when a lot of other people were a little bit compromised. You found out who was talking smack and who was sticking to their guns. You know, all I'm gonna say is there's a lot of people that have don't tread on me on a license plate or on a sticker on their lunchbox, maybe a hat or shirt, and you're about as compliant as you're gonna get. You'll just complain about it. But as soon as they say, No, you're gonna bow the knee, yeah, you probably will, for all of you out there. And hey, just recognize it. Just don't be talking smack around me that hey, I'm gonna I'm gonna do this and I would have done that. Man, you didn't. You did not. That being said, the prophetic gifting, if you have any inkling of it, and it manifests so many different ways in different people, that will help you get a bird's eye view. However, what happens is a lot of times when you're walking in that exclusively, you lose contact with boots on the ground. You lose contact and as it said, Jesus can sympathize with our weakness. He's been tempted in those things like we we have, and this is the glory of Jesus Christ right here, because we can forget where we came from, especially as the Lord shows us some of these big picture things. But one of the things about the apostolic is the apostolic gets a hell of a lot more practical in being able to take an idea or take a vision from God and knowing how to put things in order, knowing how to deal with people, knowing how to make the vision manifested here on earth. A lot of times you see people that are prophetically gifted, they're declaring God's will and have no clue how to make this happen. And that's not throwing shade. What I'm saying is you just know what God's saying, you're repeating it, you're proclaiming it, you know, you're praying about it, but a lot of times God will not share that with you how he wants to make that happen. But if you have somebody that's apostolic in nature, he knows generally, or she knows generally, what God's will is, but you give them a specific vision, and all of a sudden they know how to be a mover and a shaker, they know how to pray, they know how to hear from God in that manner about how to arrange the boots on the ground, if you will. They know how to optimally place the right people where they need to be. They know how to optimally structure things if it requires a structure. I know a lot of times it seems like Bones and I don't deal a lot with structure, or we can even buck against it. Not necessarily. There is a point in structure, but your structure has to have a point, and that's that's kind of where our criticisms come in with certain things. But if these two can work together, then great things happen. And and for sure, all the giftings, all the people that are gifted in the body of Christ are connected, so they should all be working together. But a lot of times what happens is somebody that's an apostle or has an ap apostolic calling, until you get the vision of what God's doing, you know how to do all this stuff, but it can be real easy, I've noticed in ones I met, because of your gifting, it's all too easy to fall into the trap of I'm gonna start trying to make things happen just because that's my nature. And nothing wrong with being steadfast, nothing wrong with being consistent. There's there's benefit in that and persistent. Just don't get caught in the trap of I don't know what God's wanting me to do, so I'm stuck in this mold of doing this. But a lot of times, again, the you know, people that are prophetic in nature, man, they tell you what God's wanting to do. Ain't got a clue how to make it happen. You know, I I thought about I thought about this this week because one of the things that the Lord was kind of showing me in a multitude of different ways is Bones and I have talked about management of uh of faith. One of the other things that came up was different, well, one of the other topics that came up was management versus leadership and some stuff. And people that are managers really have a problem with people that are leaders quite often because leadership is influence, John Maxwell said. But it's a little bit more than that. Uh to be a good leader, you have to have integrity and got to make a stand. Sometimes people that are managed things just for the to make the status quo work, sometimes they will fail to address what needs to be addressed. So, in that, you know, just considering where I am, because I'm mid-management, uh, where I work, but in that there's a level that I could go to where all of a sudden I'm just losing touch. I'm losing touch with the boots on the ground. I'm more at a computer, I don't get to interact with people as much, and I don't get to have as positive as an impact, in my opinion, as I would if I'm stuck to a phone and a computer and having to make sure all the paperwork's right. Those two things are connected. It's just one one of those things we can get so high and lofty, it's no different from management. You know, a lot of times you you can, if you get into a company or if you get into any kind of job, military, anything, you can get so focused on what your higher-ups want and how to make that happen. Uh, a lot of times we don't ask if it's the right thing to do. I guess what I'm saying is maybe people with an apostolic calling, if not careful, if there's no plain vision laid out there that they're getting from the Lord. And again, that's why the apostolic and prophetic work so well together. You can have these say, well, we're doing this, but there's no reason behind it. And now it's your your idea or something, and now you're really locked into it if you're if your ego isn't in the check. And that can happen to the best of us. But the converse is you can know exactly what's supposed to be happening if you're prophetically gifted and have no clue on how to take that first step. And that can be paralyzing. And what what it ends up is you have people that are hearing from God, but if all you ever do is preach about it, you're limited in your effectiveness. But if you have people that are great at making things happen, but they don't know what's supposed to happen, you're limited in your effectiveness. Matter of fact, you can be counterproductive. One of the blessings about Christ is that he actually fulfilled both roles. He he knew how to make things happen, he knew who to put where, but yet he was also very much boots on the ground. I mean, the cross is the ultimate form of I'm there. I'm there with you, I know what you're going through. I'm gonna be as effective as possible. And that's how it was. For some of you all, that's gonna make a lot of sense. For some of you all, you're gonna go, what in the world was he just talking about? And that's fine too. But pray about what the Lord is doing, you know, in your life, in your loved ones' lives, uh, in the country, um, where you work, in your circle of influence. Pray about what the Lord's doing, but also pray concerning strategies about how to implement what he's doing. And then you'll be walking in the best of both worlds. Wofoyo.
