Storytime With C-Dub: Snitches and the KJV...
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Wolves do not always look like wolves. Sometimes they show up with a Bible in hand, a confident tone, and a message that sounds spiritual but ends with one goal: control. We start with Paul's statement in Acts 20:28-30 and Jesus’ warnings in Matthew 7:15 and Matthew 10:16, then we get painfully practical about what discernment looks like when you are standing in the middle of it.
C Dub shares two Fort Carson stories that bring the Scriptures to life. First, the hunt for a “King James Only” church turns into a front-row seat to religious hokum and denominational spin, and we use that moment to separate loving the King James Bible from idolizing it. We talk Bible translation history, why KJV-only logic breaks down, and how fear-based teaching can hijack sincere faith. If you care about sound doctrine, Bible study, and spiritual maturity, this is a grounded reality check.
Then we move from theology to tactics: a manipulative home church setup, a scam targeting soldiers’ allowances, and a “God told me” moment that is really just leaked personal info. We keep coming back to the same anchor: Jesus Christ sets captives free, the Holy Spirit leads us into truth, and no one gets to insert themselves as the required middleman between you and God.

Welcome And Storytime Setup
SPEAKER_00Hey everybody, welcome to another Woefolio Short. This is Storytime with C Dub. Acts
Scripture Warnings About Savage Wolves
SPEAKER_0020, verses 28 through 30. Paul's saying goodbye to the church at Ephesus. He's exhorting the elders, getting ready to go up to Jerusalem where he knows he's going to be taken prisoner. Therefore, take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church, the ecclesia, the governing body of God, which he has purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departure, savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also, from among yourselves, men will rise up, speaking perverse things that draw away the disciples after themselves. Matthew 7, 15. This is Jesus talking. Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. Matthew 10, 16. Also Jesus. Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, therefore be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves.
Fort Carson And A Strange KJV-Only Church
SPEAKER_00When I was in Fort Carson, man, I was uh 21 years old when I got sent there in Fort Carson, and the engineers, uh, you know, I'm I'm seeking. Had had some recent experiences. Um, I had just got baptized in the Holy Spirit uh at a Christian uh business conference, and a couple different stories about that. Uh the the guy that that was given the message, he wasn't even a pastor, wasn't a minister, just a guy. So some of y'all need the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you know, and all you do is ask for it, pray for it, and man, I got it. And the words started coming together. And but anyway, um, one of the first things he's uh find find your good Bible-believing church. You know, uh, I like them King James only churches. Well, if Bill liked King James only churches, man, I looked out for a King James only church and found one. Um, I recently acquired a car at that time, and I drive to this King James only church, and I'm like, what in the world? It was Baptist to the 10th power. It's Southern Gospel Quartet. I don't like Southern gospel music, not my cup of tea. Uh, and if it's your cup of tea, then awesome, but not mine. Anyway, this dude gives up and gives a sermon about that's why we read the King James only, all other Bibles, all other, all them other versions, brothers and sisters, they're corruptions. And then he gives this story, this sermon about how everything good in the Bible is a Baptist, you know. Jesus was a Baptist because he got baptized in the River Jordan by John, who was a Baptist. And then Jesus baptized in the Holy Ghost in fire. Therefore, Jesus was a Baptist as well. And all the disciples were baptizing in Jesus' name, therefore, they were Baptists. Even the burning bush, brothers and sisters, was a Baptist because it was on fire and not consumed. Moses was a Baptist because when he marched the children of Israel through the Red Sea, they were baptized figuratively. I go, what in the world is this? So yeah, it was it the the there's a country music term, and they they also uh use it in professional wrestling. It's hokum, is what it was. So let me play a little bit because I like to play. I'm a lot nicer about playing these games now than I was back then. The the Holy Spirit's working on me.
Why KJV-Only Logic Breaks Down
SPEAKER_00So if the King James Bible, which I absolutely love, I have two at my house. When I was baptized at A16, the church presented me with the King James Bible. I still have it. I also, one of my favorites that I used for studying, there is a King James and Amplified Parallel Bible. And the great thing about the King James, let me give the King James his props, is because it's been such a standard, one of the first acts of Congress was to publish Bibles. And they gave it a different name, but if you look at it, it's a King James Bible with different hymns, uh different patriotic things. I believe it might have a copy of the Constitution in the back. Look it up. The the the first uh book printed by Congress is is actually a Bible, but it's a King James with some stuff added into it. So that being said, um, given the King James's props, uh the King James argument, there's people, how do you know you got saved if it wasn't the King James Bible? Well, let's play the game here. Because everybody from 33 AD to 1610 then is suspect. And if you're living in a foreign country, well, what are you doing then? Was Gutenberg's Bible not enough? Was the Latin Bible not good enough? You know, because you have all these people, a lot of people don't know. King James Bible is translated, published in 1611. A lot of the same guys that talk about the King James Bible is the only Bible, all others are corruptions. Since since we're going there, a lot of them same guys are, you know, the Freemasons and the Illuminati and they're trying to take over the world and all of that. How do you know, brother? And and and every conspiracy theory going out. Am I saying that there aren't people that have nefarious uh aims? No way you're saying that at all. Uh you can see what people are doing. It's pretty obvious, pretty out in the open. If you're led by the Holy Spirit, which is kind of where we're going with this thing, you'll be able to pick it out. You know, Jesus said not everybody that says Lord, the Lord is going to enter the kingdom of heaven, and not everybody that's saying they're doing God a service is doing God a service. Okay, whether that's in the government, whether that's in the church, whether it's at your place of employment, uh, whether it's in a social organization that you belong to. Yeah, the the Illuminati and the Masons and all. Well, who translated the King James Bible for King James so it could be published? Well, it's none other than Francis Bacon, uh, none other than John D. Who were both Freemasons, who were, especially John D. I believe they were both in something called the Hellfire Club. Um, they studied everything. They they were scholars um of the highest degree, but they also studied some stuff that's that's pretty off limits in Christianity. Um, just so you know, uh, is that meant to wreck your faith? Well, no, again, I still use the King James Bible, but the King James Bible is not God. The King James Bible is not Jesus Christ. Divinely inspired translation, I'd say the hand of God was on it because look how it's been used uh to reach people all over the world. Absolutely. But that being said, if you're going to go with the argument and be dogmatic, that all other versions of the Bible are corruptions. There's the King James 1611, the original. The original 1611 has 80 books. The authorized King James Version, which has the apocryphal books removed, it removes 14 books, they did it in 1885. So guess what, boys and girls? The apocryphal books, there's been 80 books in the King James, a heck of a lot longer than there have with the 66 books and those things being removed. Now, am I trying to wreck anybody's faith? No, but I am trying to get everybody not to be stupid because he got whole denominations out there, and even uh I was talking with Bones and he had a guy knock on those doors, and as soon as he saw it, pretty what much wasn't interested. You know, we might talk about that uh uh on an upcoming episode. But you're you're looking at that and like, well, now you have an authorized version, 1885, and the original 1611. So if these other versions are corruptions, which one was corrupted there? Because either the 1611 was corrupted by having the books in them, or the 1885 authorized version is corrupted because you took them out, and so you're in a no-win situation.
Freedom In Christ Versus Control
SPEAKER_00And really, I'd say that this is a logical argument. The key thing is, folks, read your Bible, understand what it means, but you must rely on the Holy Spirit. You you can have people try and hijack your faith, and and and really, this is all about manipulation to get you to do if I can get you to believe that this is the only Bible, and now you got to come through this church, and da da da da. Now it's a form of manipulation. Uh, Christ died to set the captives free. Let no one despise the liberty you have in Christ Jesus. That's all I'm getting at here, folks. Tell you one other Fort Carson story since the story time of C dub, and it's both about manipulation. When
A Home Church Scam And A Fake Prophecy
SPEAKER_00I first went to Fort Carson, just got a car, um, there was this guy named Russell. Found out Russell was no longer in our platoon because Russell, uh the the sergeant, uh they came up, Russell, Jesus Northern, you know, and it said it in a derogatory manner. Um, that sergeant was a staff sergeant, was a good dude, a squad sergeant. He was a dude named Eric Markwell. Man, he was he was great. But the reason he didn't like Russell is not because of Jesus, it's because Russell was saying Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, and listening to Christian music, not listening to instructions, and we were engineers, we were operating heavy equipment, so Russell had a knack of tearing stuff up because he was not paying attention to what he was doing. So here's my little caveat on that. If you're claiming to be a Christian and you're employed and you're not doing the good job, that's not a good witness for Christ. And I and I've worked with these people, I just hated working with them. It's the worst testimony for Christ ever. Didn't want to do the job, but didn't want to tell you how good they were because they were Christians. But I'm pulling your weight, dude. If you're going to be a good witness for Jesus Christ, if you're going to be a good witness for the gospel, do your job, be good at it, be better than good at it. And then when they ask you why, then you share the gospel. Now, there's this home church. Never been to one of these before. Spirit of manipulation was just rife in this place, but I hadn't recognized it yet. I never seen anything like this. They'd have these prayer things, they were meeting in the garage, and they had kind of this big utility room in the back where the found what I found out was they were running a scam for all you vets out there. Uh, you could get out of the temptations of the barracks, put in a request to move in there, and you had the privilege of moving in there, you know, because you were free from the things, and you're living in this faith community, and away from all the temptations of everything else. But they were getting your BAQ and BAS at the time. They might call it BAH now. Basic allowance for quarters, basic allowance for sustenance. Uh, basically, it's your your food allowance and your uh allowance you would get to help with rent for an apartment or a house. Russell comes up to me one week. Hey brother, are you going to church? Uh Russell, kind of limited where I go. Uh I got another week before payday, and I mean, if you'll I'll drive you. Okay, bet. Thanks, Russell. And takes me over there. Um, tires were getting worn as soon as I got paid in a week. I was taking the car over to the Walmart and they had that auto body shop in there and getting new tires put on, just trying to be conservative, be safe. So I see Russell and the pastor of that that home church are having a little discussion over there right before service in the laundry room. And so about 30 minutes into service, after praise and worship, he gets to preaching. And this dude changes his countenance and acts like he has a word of knowledge. And God says, Some of you all need to get your tires changed. You're out there driving on them tires, you ought not to be doing it. And everybody, amen, amen. And I'm like, look over to Russell, and I knew exactly what had happened. It wasn't the Holy Ghost. Russell was a snitch. I have no use for snitches. It's just honor code that I was bought up with. And so um left that place. In addition, the pastor said about three or four other stupid things that night, and I'm going, this is not Jesus Christ. This is not the gospel. And now you're trying to control. And do do I have a rebellious streak? I sure did back then. Um, I'm I'm learning obedience to Christ, but also learn that sometimes if being obedient to Jesus Christ, some people might not like it. So
Know Jesus Personally And Final Charge
SPEAKER_00it's a matter of, like Peter and John said, whether it's right in your eyes to obey God or to obey men, we're gonna obey God. You will have people come in, and and it might be the higher-ups, uh, it might be those in a congregation, it might be those that you're working with that will try and pray as followers of Christ, but if you look at their motives, it's really about control, it's really about keeping you from listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit of being in an intimate relation, just personally, that you can know Jesus for yourselves. It's trying to circumvent that. It's trying to become trying to be the medium, the go-between. So you got to go to them to get to Jesus. And now, now, is it really Jesus or is it their version of Jesus? Because got news for you, folks. You can you can get in the Bible, you can pray, and you can know Jesus Christ for yourselves. And if you haven't done it, just just ask him to reveal who he is. It's really that that simple. And then uh when he starts to talk to you, just know that the voice of the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth. And in leading you into all truth, he will also show you what's just no good. So, folks, develop that relationship. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and by all means, wofo yo. Get in the word for yourself. Hey everybody, thanks for listening.
