Discernment Over Drama
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Drama is rarely the whole story, and it’s almost never the best teacher. We’re talking about what happens when a genuine move of God collides with rumors, titles, ambition, and the kind of pressure that tries to force you into a side. C-Dub shares a real revival season that included healings, deliverance, and powerful teaching, but also the messy aftermath that came when burnout, relationships, and church politics started boiling over. The point isn’t to relive chaos. The point is to learn discernment while it’s happening.
We anchor the conversation in Scripture: John 16:13 on the Spirit of Truth guiding us, Luke 21:19 on patience and inner stability, and Genesis 3:1 as a warning about subtle deception. If you’ve ever felt pulled by “television Christianity,” high-production personalities, or nonstop hot takes, this is a reset. We talk spiritual warfare, why flesh-and-blood fights can distract you from the real battle, and how the Holy Spirit often speaks more quietly than the crowd.
You’ll also hear why stepping back can be obedience, how God can still advance His work even through conflict, and what it looks like to get in the Word for yourself so you’re not led by hype or deflated by bad news.

Welcome And Core Scriptures
SPEAKER_00Hey everybody, welcome to another Woe Fo Yo short. Going to have another little story time. But first, this is get in the word for yourself, not just have C Dub tell you a story. John 16, 13, this is Jesus speaking. However, when he, the Spirit of Truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak on his own authority. But whatever he hears, he will speak, and he will tell you things to come. Luke 21, 19. By your patience, possess your souls. And also Genesis 3:1. Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, Has God indeed said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Probably my favorite pastor, uh one I had out in Colorado Springs, used to say, See, the problem with the devil is he doesn't come up and say, Hi, I'm the devil and I'm about to ruin your life. He's always subtle about how he is going to try and twist a lot of times God's word.
Revival Breakout And Real Deliverance
SPEAKER_00So here's a little bit more story time. Had this revival breakout, legit revival, uh legit move of God, was at this church between Marion, Illinois and Johnson City, Illinois, a little place called White Ash. And it had some interesting things happen. I'm not going to get all into it, but you had somebody who could preach a house of fire, and you had this guy come out. My ex-wife was telling me, oh man, this thing happened. I'm a little bit skeptical at first, but when I walked in, the glory of God was there. And one of my biggest learning experiences early in my period of growing and feeling the calling of God. And it educated me a lot about some of the things that can happen in the church, too, as far as your local body. So there's this guy who had pastor in Mega Church over in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I like this guy. He had the title, he's a black guy. So a lot of you that are unfamiliar with uh a lot of your urban or especially just African-American churches, a lot of them get very, very title heavy, and it's a point of honor. It's a big thing. Uh, you know, Bones and I really don't get into all that. But that being said, this dude had a prophet title, and what happened was he came in, and him and the pastor just gelled. There was a connection there. And you saw people get healed. I saw three different manifestations of demonic things in people, and they got delivered out of them. But that was crazy. That I had not experienced. I'd I'd seen some people roll on the floor and yell ooga booga, but not like that. This was this was real deal. And a lot of those people that were yelling ooga booga were really looking for attention. We found out later on. So this is all very, very dramatic. And this guy had some excellent teaching.
The Scandal And Church Split Fallout
SPEAKER_00And you know, this goes on for probably about three months, and then the crap hits the fan. So this guy had stepped down from ministry. He he got burned out, the dude from Grand Rapids. Since I'm dealing with per since I'm dealing with some personal things, I'm not putting actual names out there, but I've talked about this guy before. I don't mind mentioning his name, but I'm just not going to do it in this context. This is the first guy I ever heard teach on Kingdom. Uh, him and that pastor, our our pastor, uh, gelled. And with all the dramatic things that happened, we we get pulled to the side by some people who are ambitiously pursuing ministry. And hey, we we found out some things. Well, come to find out, lo and behold, this guy had stepped down from what I was told uh by some associates who we still maintained friendship and fellowship with. Uh he was burnt out on the whole megachurch pastor thing. Um, his spouse, she was, she liked that. And lo and behold, he he he was divorced. And so this was a big to-do because he was divorced. Now, for the record, uh Bones and I have both been divorced. So if you can't hear anything from somebody that's been divorced, you can just find you something else to do. You know, go listen to Sean Ryan or Joe Rogan, I don't care. Uh, but you know, we're we're open and honest about uh you know what what we've been through. Um so so that being said, there's supposed to be this big scandal in all this drama and all these production, high production value church at the time. And what happens? Well, the pastor comes and calls it all out. Oh my gosh. And we find out what's been happening this whole time where there's been all this drama is in addition to this, there was a couple guys I both like, you know. You got to realize everybody in this is still doing work for the Lord. Go figure. So if you're want me to cash shade, no. Uh I'm saying there's a lesson here. They found out that oh, pastor was going to ask him not to come back. And they basically, since they were businessmen, said no, there's there's a legitimate anointing here, and they helped set up shop across town, church split, yada, yada, yada. And there were several church splits. And come to find out, God ended up doing some things. He ended up splitting that church like three or four different times. Uh, and you know what? Everybody that I know, still out there ministering, still walking with the Lord. So again, not casting shade. What I'm saying is there's some lessons here. Uh, and the reason I'm bringing this up is not to recount old things, but I think it's pertinent today.
Spiritual Warfare Behind The Drama
SPEAKER_00With all the drama that was going on, all this hoopla, what was really going on, what the Lord was doing was a lot more subtle than all the drama. What the enemy was doing was a lot more subtle than all the drama. And one of the things about television Christianity, you know, if you're watching the video portion of this, you're you're watching it on YouTube or you're listening on a podcast, you know, one of your podcast networks, one of the things you need to realize is that this can be dramatic, but there's nothing that's going to replace what the Holy Spirit is telling you. And when I wanted to get caught up into the drama, and when I was getting encouraged to get up into drama and all that, and take a side here, take a side there, the Holy Spirit says, No, we don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places. So I had to put on the whole armor of God. And when all my friends, uh when all these people that I love seemed to be at odds and all this, I had to realize that number one, the Holy Spirit's letting me know this ain't my fight, this ain't my rodeo, so I'm having to maintain some discipline. And therefore, I just had to step back. And later on, it became evident, it was kind of like Paul and Barnabas not being able to get along for the purpose of actually reaching more ground. Paul takes Silas, and then Barnabas takes John Mark. And guess what? Twice the ground was covered, the work of the Lord continues.
Prepare For Coming National Turbulence
SPEAKER_00The lesson is this you're gonna see, I just have I have this feeling, I have this gut feeling that you're about to see some very dramatic things. You're gonna see some dramatic things in the nation, you're gonna see some dramatic things in the body of Christ. And my advice to you is get in the word. Let's get in the word for yourself. But depend on that still small voice. Uh, kind of like we just talked again about Elijah in the cave, all these other things are previous moves of God. You have to get acquainted with the still small voice of the Holy Spirit. You have to let him show you what is actually of merit and what he's doing, as well as expose what the enemy's doing, rather than get caught up in all the drama. Because the drama will mislead you, the drama will have you picking sides that you're not meant to pick when the Lord just wants you to sit back and trust him. Everything in me is saying this is going to be happening on a national stage, multiple levels. When you hear of the wars and rumors of wars, when you hear of all these things, when you hear about this great revival, and praise God for great revivals, just know that the Lord's doing something deeper. Just know that there is a move where people are developing a close, intimate relationship with Jesus through the voice of his Holy Spirit, through getting in the word, and all the production that says, look over here, look over there, look over here, look over here. He's going to lead you into what you should be looking at, what you should be paying attention to, and most importantly, what you should be doing. So, folks, don't get all hyped up, don't get all deflated. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct your path. Wofoyo.
