On this Episode of Outside The Boards Podcast, I am really excited to introduce to you one of polo’s global leaders in the sport, Mr. Alex Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of the Federiation of International Polo and last year’s FIP World Championship’s Tournament Director.
Prior to joining the FIP in 2015, many had known Alex Taylor from his years as a Council of Administration Member and Treasurer at the Argentine Association of Polo. He has extensive commercial experience and during his time as CEO of FIP he has been the power behind ensuring that the FIP By-Laws are finally compliant with the Uruguay authority’s requirements, working with the AAP, USPA & HPA on the International Rules and of course the outstanding success of the recent FIP 10th World Championship in the United States in Florida.
Alex grew up around polo at the iconic Tortugas Country Club influenced by his father and uncle. He would pick up the mallet and beginning playing between the ages of 6 and 7 and purchased his first horse at 28, playing chukkers whenever he could.
Today, Alex lives 400 kilometers south of Buenas Aires on his farm while leading the sport’s world governing body.
Alex has been a part of polo’s global expansion and organization since the very beginning. Despite the sport’s age, the global organization of the game is still very young and it is amazing to listen to its rapid growth. Sometimes we forget how truly global the game is today, with Alex at helm this is all changing.
