So listen, Lee and welcome CeeLo to the Rockstar Nation land. So glad he took some time.

Unknown:

Rockstar Nation.

Billy Gerard:

Yeah. Yeah. Well, listen, I really fascinated, you may not know what the right well, I'm you know, I don't know that I've shared this on air, the I Am I was adopted, I am adopted into my family, in the subject of DNA. And the subject of DNA testing has come up more than once, among my kids, actually. Because, you know, there's a lot of good things about being adopted is actually a lot of great things about being adopted. But there are two giant drawbacks, and one of them is you have almost no medical history. Now, you got caught on this sort of train of DNA testing a little differently. And you've cast it into a whole nother story, walk us through how this goes.

Liane Carmen:

I did have somebody in my family as well, that was adopted and related to my son, and we decided to do my son's DNA and see if we could find his father's birth family. So we did the DNA testing. And to your point, you know, you say, Oh, you don't have any medical records. But again, neither does my son, he's missing a whole half of his, you know, medical records. So we, we didn't really do it necessarily for that. But we did do it to see if perhaps there was some family, you know, teeny tiny family, we thought, well, maybe there's some biological families that we might be able to find. And we just went into it. I don't know that we went into it expecting very much. I didn't know that much about it. It was kind of that seven years ago, it was just becoming a little bit more mainstream. And so we just kind of went into it with let's see what we can find. And so that's what we did. And I did find both sets of birth parents, including.

Billy Gerard:

How does Listen, I'm trying to find my son's long lost cousins. Turn into where the truth. Hi, I love the title.

Liane Carmen:

Well, it turns into where the truth hides, because where the truth hides is in your DNA. And, you know, there's a very common saying in some of the Facebook groups that I belong to, and people will get their test results and they say, well, they're wrong. And the answer is they're really never wrong. And the answer is that, you know, people lie, and families keep secrets. But DNA tells the truth. And I've never found a case where it has been wrong, to be honest. Um, so as we started doing our hunts, what we started to uncover was quite a few secrets. Sort of, that were lurking out there in the past. And my brain, you know, I've always wanted to write books and my brain just started spinning and I thought, well, there's an endless supply of secrets that you could find through DNA, you know, secrets People thought they could take to their grave or that nobody would ever find out about. And sure enough, you know, sometimes it's not a good thing. And sometimes it is. But there's a lot of secrets that are now being uncovered by dna testing.

Billy Gerard:

We are on with author Liane Carmen and she has the first two of what will clearly be a series where the truth of hides and dark inheritance are the first two books to give us just walk us through a high level view of the storyline. I'm fascinating. This came as a result of, of your personal search on a DNA thing for your family, and uncovers this idea of exactly how much of our past is hidden or not. Right,

Liane Carmen:

right. Well, the the series starts with where the truth hides. And that's sort of a prequel that sort of sets up the series. And you got two best friends that are sort of at a crossroads in their life different crossroads. Becky is struggling with infertility and has turned to IVF to have a child and her best friend Jules, still single, gorgeous, still single, or sabotages all her relationships, she's finally decided, you know, she was adopted at birth. And it's finally decided that, you know, that's probably giving her some issues that if she could find her birth parents, she might be able to find out why she was giving up and resolve some of this issues. So Joel turns to DNA testing to try to find that family she's looking for. And as Jules is kind of diving into her DNA matches, Becky gets into a car accident, and she's convinced she's fine, but her life starts to unravel pretty rapidly, until she's pretty sure she might not have anything left when the dust settles. And it turns out the jewels know something that could explain everything, and whether she'll reveal it in time to save her best friend.

Billy Gerard:

You know, I it's, it's just a fascinating idea to me. I think there's a part of us that all of us asking, Where did I come from? How did I get here? And we live in the day of the American family. You know, I fascinating story, the idea that what you know, and really, how much do you really want to know? I mean, how much you know, how much do you really want to know, do you do I have a Rock Star Nation we have a strict policy, never asked a question. You don't want to know the answer to

Liane Carmen:

opening Pandora's box. Yeah, absolutely. It is absolutely.

Billy Gerard:

Rock Star radio, Billy Gerard, we are on with author Liane Carmen, I'm going to spell it for you. It's l i a and Elian Li ne comma g r, m e and landcom. And there are two books where the truth hides and dark inheritance where Leanne Carmen, Leah would win the third now that now I see that you are you are in process of the third, can you give us a peek what the third the series talks about?

Liane Carmen:

Sure. Well, in the second book, you sort of are going to know that the two of them do survive this series would end but what they decided to do is they decided to open a detective agency and it is all that they've learned so much from DNA that they now decide they're going to help other people solve their family mysteries actually. And so each book as it succeeds will have a mystery, a family mystery they you know case that comes to them to solve so in the second case, in the second book, The Dark inheritance. Their first big client is this woman Donna who her father has really never given her much had a lot of money really kind of left her out there to dry you know, high and dry and when he dies, she finally thinks you know this is my chance there's no one else to leave it to he's got to leave his money to me. Well, when she go to the reading of the well she finds out that she has a half sister She never knew about and she doesn't get a penny of her money until she finds her half sister.

Unknown:

So

Liane Carmen:

just finished another book not related but I'd love to talk about that book as well because I'm in love with that book.

Jeff Borker:

Oh a for awesome Liane Carmen L I A N E Carmen go find go find her as we as we come to the close of the first portion of books season 2021 this would be a great one. Oh, rock star, Billy Gerard rock star. We'll be back with more just moments. Don't move a moment. I'm a rock star coming up on St. Patrick's Day. So this is the perfect time to talk about Irish whiskey. I'm Jeff Barker from the classic DRAM and it's time for this week's double shot of whiskey. Like other whiskies around the world Irish Whiskey has some key requirements. Number one, it must be distilled and matured in Ireland, which includes both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The mash must consist of malted cereal grains with or without other whole grains of other cereals. Number three, it must be fermented from yeast, and it must be distilled in an ABV of less than 94.8%. It must be aged in wooden casks for a period of at least three years, and bottled it no less than 40% ABV or 80 proof. Now there's three varieties of Irish whiskey, single potstill, which is made at a single distillery from a mixed mash of malted and unmalted barley distilled in a potstill. Then there's single malt made from 100% malted barley, this whiskey is produced by a single distillery again in a potstill. Finally, single grain. These are producing column stills rather than Ireland's often preferred pot stills. It's a single grain used in the distillate. All three of these varieties can be combined to create blended Irish Whiskey blended accounts for 90% of the all Irish Whiskey production. Irish Whiskey has a distinct flavor profile that can generally be described as light and fruity with obvious cereal grain notes. The barrel aging also imparts that signature whiskey okayness and Carmel many people myself included describe Irish Whiskey with a butter cookie or butter biscuit flavor profile. Now growing up in Chicago, we used to get those Salerno butter cookies. To me that is exactly what Irish Whiskey tastes like. With its light fruity note I use Irish Whiskey as a gateway spirit for someone just starting out in whiskey. It's the perfect entry point. There are a number of great Irish whiskeys across a wide spectrum of price points. Jamison's redbreast and tullamore dew are three of my favorites that won't break the bank. For the St. Patrick's Day, raise a glass of Irish and say cheers in Gaelic. So lunch everyone, and Happy St. Patty's Day. If you'd like to learn more, visit us today at www dot the classic dram.com. And check out our podcast the DRAM state available on all podcast platforms. This is Jeff Walker and remember, come for the spirits and stay for the experience. Cheers all rocks.

Powerful UV light and justments is proven to kill bacteria and viruses both on surfaces and in here and yes COVID to you owe it to yourself your business your customers your employees get the details can find out all she the signs got a Plexus health science.com that's p l e x us health science comm all one word Plexus health science to click the button, and you see their website and you say to yourself, that is so disappointing. Oh my goodness, I was coming for information I want what this company has. And this website is terrible. Hi, Billy Gerard rock star radio USA radio. I have invited Christine Lew, Christine is a web designer extraordinaire from she'll designs. Christine, I admire your by the way you say hello to the Rock Star Nation, please forgive my poor manners. Christine.

Billy Gerard:

Christine, I can't tell you we live in a digital world. It makes me nuts. When I go and I need some information, I need to know something. And it could be anything I was looking for the length of a ski trail the other day. And the width of the just the availability information was terrible. It makes me crazy. Can you help me along here? We're not pretty. What are the in European you're aiming for big business and your business of designing and building a high end fabulous web properties? What are the what are the things that the common pitfalls that DIY web designers fall into?Yeah, that frustration and overwhelm that you've had introduces very apparent in so many people's experiences. So if you're feeling that you're not alone, but these are the three biggest mistakes that I see when people are DIY in their website. So number one, you are not considering how to optimize it whatsoever. So meaning, you're not considering all the other devices out there for desktop to mobile, like we're on the go constantly now. And people are usually on their mobile devices. So you need to be able to create a design for that as well and not ignore it, but rather reduce that barrier, make it more accessible for people. And the second thing is that you have poor branding. So realities check like you mentioned, Billy, this is a digital age, you need to stand out with your website, or it's going to plummet to the very bottom of Google and you don't want that. Well, you know, it's your story, right? Where do you bury a body? shop, raise your Google

Christine Lieu:

hrclothes to get you to that top ranking where you deserve? That's right. So yeah, with regards to branding, you really need to make sure you have clear, professional, familiar branding, like your logos that people will become more familiar with and really ensure that cohesion to boost your brand visibility, get to that top rank of Google and don't be scared to showcase that personality and your value. That's the end of the day.

Billy Gerard:

Christina seal designs you've been doing this a long time, a very long time. And you help people do is how do people find out more when they when they're ready. I mean, when they finally had enough, and they're ready to do this.

Christine Lieu:

And you're ready to sit flat overwhelmed, come and look for support. Christina l designs.com.

Billy Gerard:

So talk to me about the process of working with a professional, because I do believe that there's a fear barrier, that I'm going to work with a professional. I've been doing this myself. And I think there's one of two fears one, either I think I know what I'm doing. And I'm going to be told that I'm dumb. or two, I feel dumb. And I don't want to be an AI and I'm afraid.

Christine Lieu:

Yeah, no, you're totally, that's totally fair. And Come as you are. First of all, I think when you have those vulnerable conversations, that's where like a lot of the magic can happen. And really dissect what you really need in that individual needs space as well so that your designer can help you on the individual basis. But also, make sure that you have Options,

Billy Gerard:

Options, Options, then you work with anybody. It doesn't matter where they are just just

Marie Ruffolo:

Oh, I'm so looking forward to that because I need it.

Billy Gerard:

Fitness generally, I'll take facial fitness. I'll take any fitness I can get Miss Drew's in with words that were still wondering if they're really English. Oh my goodness, I can't I can't handle it. And let's see what else we got here. Great show. And I know you had one or two things you want to mention before we dug into it. Also Billy Gerard rock star radio USA radio networks. So glad you are along with us.

Marie Ruffolo:

You know, I wanted to talk a little bit about phone scams, because a friend of mine days, he told me it was heart wrenching about his mother's got this threatening phone call, you know and saying they're going to do all these things if she doesn't pay that and they target seniors. So there's a whole bunch of phone scams that are out there. I mean, the one really that we know of is can you hear me? You know and then you say yes, and they use your recordings for something else that you agreed to something that you're supposed to pay for

Billy Gerard:

by the IRS scam I get it every once in a while but the other one is they leave a message that says oh we have found your we're canceling your social security number or something like that. I you know you The IRS guy called me he's like we're coming to a rescue. I said, Well, you know, what do you want me to? Do? You want me to wait here? You want me to wait on hold? How do you want me to proceed? Exactly. We actually let me put you on hold, sir. And here's what we'll figure out. Do the cops get here to arrest me first? Or did they get there to arrest you?

Marie Ruffolo:

I'm telling you, it's quit. But you know what, it's a shame because so many people are, you know, they don't want to say fall for it. They're not stupid. But it's very intimidating.

Billy Gerard:

It's very intimidating. And you know, I'll tell my mom, you know, my mom, earlier, probably a year before her passion, you know, she was 85. And they called her and sounded like they were from the bank. And she had given, yeah, they got most of her bank information before she realized, wait a minute, some years wrong. And she quickly, you know, but it was a giant nightmare, because now we have to go and redo all the banking cancel all the accounts, change all the cards, you know, mercifully, nothing happened. But it sounds very convincing, you know, when someone calls in. So the first rule is, as a general rule, most banks don't call anybody and the IRS never phones, anyone, the IRS will send you a letter, or they will show up with people with guns and badges. So if you get a phone call like that, I'll tell you the other one that gets crazy that we get, you know, the Rock Star Nation, we get literally 1000s of emails a week. No exaggeration, and so we get in that pile is all of these scam emails. And the big one now is you've gotten a voice message. And so yeah, no, of course we don't we don't have that that's like a non option for the rock star like so you either send us an email or or we don't. As a general rule, the phone here at the Rock Star Nation is only for outgoing calls. We don't really get that many coming in for these sorts of things. Anyway, so you'll get this note and it says you've received a phone message and it looks like it's from you know, it says from at&t or something like Verizon, something like that. And then it'll have a little button there that you click, and here it would be you would enter your password or whatever, which of course all of this is fake, right? It's all a lie. In the original message. It's just a methodology to capture your passwords and it's really something

Marie Ruffolo:

well i'll tell you even now that's worked from home has become almost normal during these times. You get oh so ridiculous ad saying oh you're going to make all this money from working from home just pay a little fee.

International Women's month by the way Billy Gerard Rockstar radio show pleased to have you along Thank you for coming back in so this is this be International Women's month. I thought you know what, what's the rock star way to talk about this? What's the how do we get an angle that everyone else in the world hasn't done? And so you know we have an army of folks that are out there combing the combing the universe to find the best most interesting things for you. And listen to what we have found. You are actually going to love this Please say hello to all introduce sure to Manuel by Please say hello to Patricia sampedro up Patricia Say hello to Rockstar Nation.

Patricia San Pedro:

Hi Dr. nation

Billy Gerard:

that we love that you can you can work this into your schedule, you have developed what I think is the most one of the most interesting things I've heard of in a while and I hear a lot of interesting things here. Facial fitness. Now I'm going to share with you the rock star here before doing the program because I need to be able to enunciate with clarity. I do do some facial exercises, mostly centered around keeping my my my big cheeks from too much when I'm trying to to do the radio show. But so the idea of facial fitness, simple exercises and rituals for toned glowing skin Are you actually taking it to the next step. And I have a book out and everything tell us about facial fitness.

Patricia San Pedro:

Yes, thank you so much for that amazing introduction and it is International Women's month but I just do want to say that fitness is not just for women, it's also for men. And it's all about taking your skincare to the next level. It's all about toning and sculpting, strengthening your skin. Using all of the techniques that are highlighted in the book. There are 50 different techniques in the book that you can use and it's for facial massage, facial stretches. There's also even meditative affirmations to help you feel good with every technique. So with every technique that you are taught in the book, there is a affirmation that will help you mentally uplift and feel good.

Billy Gerard:

Well, there is an interesting connection we don't hear a lot about that help me understand how that mental connection ties together here for you.

Patricia San Pedro:

Yeah, so it's all about you know, finding techniques and moments in your day that help you feel good on the inside. And you know, I talk a lot about about glowing skin and getting sculpted muscles and even in your facial features, just as you would go to the gym for your body, you can do the same for your face. And you know how when you go to the gym and you're done with your workout, you feel so good. You can do the same for your face. And it's a self care practice that you can do at home. It's super simple, anybody can do it. And you know you you repeat the affirmations to yourself, the ones that are given to you and it's a way to tap inwards and to really feel good on the inside. So you glow on the outside for sure 100% because of the techniques but also on the inside you feel super good. And you feel uplifted and it's all about mentally feeling amazing.

Billy Gerard:

Billy Gerard rock star radio USA radio network so we are on with Patricia San Pedro, who is putting forth this idea that hey, you know what, it's okay to feel good about yourself. And and so if you and if you look good, I did say you see a step you know what the odds are good, you're gonna feel good.

Patricia San Pedro:

Yeah, 100% you're going to feel good, you're going to look good. And most importantly, your jaw lines are going to be your jawline, it's going to be sculpted your cheekbones are gonna look amazing. I even have facial moves for your nose bridge. So you can contour your nose bridge and all of these techniques are just the way to find yourself and to find your way back in words in a meditative state. It's it's an amazing it's an amazing book with routines that you can fit into your current skincare routine. Even if you're just only doing a two or three step routine at night to cleanse your face or put moisturizer on you can do it while you're putting your moisturizer on it's super easy and super effective.

Billy Gerard:

No I love I love the concept too that it's a little more holistic. You know, we get a lot of creams here we get we must get 1000s of requests from everyone who's got the next greatest skincare cream or skincare device. It really 1000s of requests to be on the show for those sorts of things. And I love this idea that it's it's really more about you and and you're exercising and participating a little bit more in your in your skin. And I had a probably larger than in your self care, right because this is a it's a self care thing more than as much as it as anything else.

Patricia San Pedro:

Yes and you brought up such a great point about tools and different serums and all of these different things that are coming up in the skincare world and they're all amazing but what's very, very amazing about face fitness is that you can use your hands and that's all you need. All you need is your hands and a slip of some oils and you're good to go. It's just a little bit of knowledge that will take us such a long way in building confidence and taking care of your own skin.

Billy Gerard:

Yeah, from from from just being disconnected.

Marie Ruffolo:

What exactly that's the perfect word. You feel so disconnected from everything. And what little things used to take for granted like they still like to go to a local restaurant or something like that. And I don't do that anymore. So what do you do? You know, you just work go to bed work go to bed.

And, and you know and why do we have hand sanitizer in here? What what is going on with all of this? These the hygiene Nazis as I call them now?

Marie Ruffolo:

Well, exactly, because I mean, when you have to time washing your hands, but let me What do you think it was like, in colonial time? during the 17th and 18th century? No,

Billy Gerard:

I think it was. You know, I had to be a mess. I mean, it had to be a terrible mess. They had to be a mess. I mean, I you know, you have I don't know that you had a lot of running water everywhere at that time in the world. I think it had to be a stinky, terrible mess. To be fair.

Marie Ruffolo:

And this is from rancor calm no pun intended.

Billy Gerard:

rancor orient kr rancor calm?

Marie Ruffolo:

Yeah, no, it was terrible. They bathed in a little bucket of water. You got out it

Billy Gerard:

a little big for the little bucket if you know what I mean.

Marie Ruffolo:

And I'm telling you, because, you know, it's interesting, because after so long, Protestantism associated uncleanliness with sin. So we got into a whole religion kind of thing, you know, the cleaner You are the less things you have. So it was a tough time.

Billy Gerard:

You know, look, I Well, you know, I haven't looked at the Protestant, that whole thing, but I wonder if some of that was, you know, what was associated with sin was for your for your benefit. In other words, the cleaner you were, you know, calling this is next to godliness. Right. But what was the idea here, by by, by, you know, because clearly, you know, germs and that sort of thing. That's, that's real. I mean, I'm not you know, we're making fun of this a little bit. But, you know, having, you know, been maintaining good hygiene, is it you know, as a positive I don't know that you need to be scrubbing with, you know, with. Yeah, you know, I don't know, I don't know that. You need the brass brush, you know, three times a day. But you don't get to stay and after the you know the little thing so, you know, definitely,

Marie Ruffolo:

but we are spoiled because we have indoor plumbing. Oh, by, you know, when we go back to hygiene we're doing okay you know what I'm saying? I'm just saying we're doing okay

Billy Gerard:

you know all hail indoor plumbing oil What do you mean the All hail enjoy you know you forget about you know you go camping or go to a cabin somewhere where you don't have where you know you have to do without or something doesn't work for a little while or you have one of those homes that's on a well, maybe and you know you it's you know suddenly the world changes my in laws they live in a property where they lose power all the time a good stiff wind and they'll lose power. And then you know, they got to go to the creek and get a bucket to flush the toilet. I mean, it's just not a Yeah, it's it's not a it's a We are thankful because we live in a crazy blessed time.
