The goal is not to have every detail perfect. It is to have enough clarity to move forward without second guessing the decision.

Thanks And A Quick Promise
SPEAKER_00Special short episode, guys. Just want to say thank you for listening to the recent episodes where I've had real guests on and they have shared, as you've heard, wait, I wish I didn't retire because I didn't know who I was without my job title or I wasn't ready or my spouse and I didn't talk about it. And there were of course other people that go, wow, that was not our problem. We just needed financially to know we're in a good spot. And so I don't want any of you to have that feeling when you go to the airport and you go, Did I forget something? My phone, my wallet, my keys, whatever that may be. I don't want you to have that feeling when it comes to retirement. I don't want you to think, did I forget to calculate my healthcare costs? And did I forget to understand where I'd pull income from? Or did I even need to do Roth conversions? Or maybe those are things I'm worrying about right now for no reason. And there's a lot of you out there that because you are good savers naturally, you want to make sure you don't mess up anything. And you're like, I gotta make sure, well, if I work one more year, I'm in my high earning years, and you look back to maybe when you're in your 20s, 30s, going, I would have begged to make the income I'm making now. And now, yes, I want to retire early because I want to spend time with family. I also want to make sure I'm being optimal from a tax strategy. And if I keep working, maybe if the majority of my money's in a 401k, I'm just adding to a bigger tax burden. Or if I have a company stock, I'm wondering, okay, is this the right time to retire? What about working a little longer to hedge the bet, if you will, about well, what if the stock doesn't do what I think? Or whatever the example may be. There's a million just like that. I want you guys to know when you can retire with confidence. So I'm going to give you a few free guides and tell you how to access them. Many of you are already enrolled in my early retirement academy, in which case you have access to these guides. But if you just want to get them top of your inbox, regardless if you're in my academy or not, here's what you can do to get access to them. You will email me directly. My team has access to my email and they will send you these free guides. And so if you want a complete checklist, hey, what's everything I need to know before I retire? Email the subject line, just put in there retire. Once again, the email is ari at rootfinancial.com. So if you want a complete guide, just put retire in the subject line. If you're looking for health care specifically, put healthcare in the subject line. If you want me to potentially review your finances, to do a sample situation using your numbers and figures, because that might be helpful for other people. Of course, knowing I always do everything anonymously. If you're not following me on Instagram or Facebook right now, you will see that I'm doing a lot of different types of content regarding those styles because it's resonating with a lot of you. If you have questions on withdrawal strategy, where should I withdraw income from first in retirement? I have a superhero account, I have a Roth IRA, I have a 401k, I have an old IRA, should I consolidate? Well, of course, you can go ahead in the subject line, put withdrawal. So finally, the last one I'll give you in once again, these are all for free. You can put conversion. A lot of you have questions regarding conversions. So you can just put conversion in the subject line. Once again, my email are rootfinancial.com and we will send that to you as fast as we can. Normally it's about 24 hours, but we try to be faster if we can. And then if you're wondering, okay, when does it make sense to work with an advisor? And does it even make sense? I'm the weird advisor that says it depends. It's all about timing. And you got to make sure if you work with an advisor, there's clear value. And it's oftentimes difficult to know that value unless you have a conversation. So if you want a free call just to generally get a sense, okay, when might it make sense? We might have a chat with you and say, hey, I don't think we can help quite yet. That happens more often than you'd think. We might say, hey, here's why we think we could help now, but here's what I'd want you to consider. And that might resonate with you. It might not. You might go, wow, that's great, but I just don't think I need it yet. You might go, oh my gosh, wow. No, just what you shared, that is different to the process I'm currently going through with my existing advisor. Who knows what's going to come from that conversation? But if you want that, just email the subject line, put free. F-R-E-E to have a free call. And then most importantly, I hope you guys love the content. If you just want to send me an email and say, hey, really appreciate everything you're doing, love the interviews, keep those up, that's more helpful than you know because my team puts a ton of time and effort into you receiving all the content you do, and that lights us up to do better work for you. And if you're like, honestly, Ari, these retirement interviews, for whatever reason, they're just not hitting the same. I'd rather go back to the traditional episodes. I'd rather hear more on YouTube or whatever that might be. I am more than open to feedback. And some people say that, but they don't really mean it. It's like, yeah, you know, tell me your real thoughts, but then they just gloss over it. No, I'm seeing all of those emails. If you're giving actual feedback, I want to help. And so for those of you who don't know already, I am posting four videos on YouTube right now, and then I have a very exciting announcement where I will be responding to voicemails, not giving personalized financial advice, but offering my feedback. And that is something that I'm going to be starting shortly. So if you're like, oh, I want to get ahead of the game, I want to see what your thoughts might be regarding, you know, my situation, knowing of course it's not personalized financial advice, you can call the number. I'm going to say it right now, 213-316-8397, and that's where you can submit your situation. When you do so, please make sure it's a voicemail. So you'll call, leave your information. Everything I always do will be anonymous. But that's if you want, of course, me to potentially respond to your voicemail in the future. And then those will more than likely start on YouTube and they might come to the podcast later. If you're like, oh, why don't they just start on the podcast? Why don't you do both at the same time? There's just a lot of moving pieces, and I want to make sure my team does everything properly and that they're not overwhelmed because I do tons of content. So if you're not following me on Instagram, I'm Early Retirement Ari. On Facebook, I believe it's early retirement with Ari Towble, but I should confirm that. YouTube is Early Retirement Ari, of course. And I appreciate all of you guys more than you know because you have all given me this beautiful life to be able to make fun content. And I would do this regardless if anyone's listening, but it would be weird where I feel like I'm just talking into the ether. So knowing that you guys are here, you are resonating, it just makes me go that extra level. So just want to say truly thank you. Hope you enjoy those free guides. If you want 100 more like those because you resonate with them, you can go inside that early retirement academy. And then if you're wondering about truly, okay, I mean I can email you six different words. Where do I do this? Where do I do that? You can also just go to the description of this video and you'll be able to see that. The final thing I just want to add is a story here. If you are like, yep, tuned out here, got what I needed, great. I hope you're on your way. I will joke with you guys. I want to be the podcast and the YouTube channel that people can stop listening to because they have the information they need. And most people are the opposite, I find. It's okay, what can I do to retain my viewers and listeners? And hopefully you enjoy and get entertainment from the content, but I also hope you can enjoy your retirement. And if all your time is spent listening or watching financial videos, you might not be enjoying it unless that is your thing. So I know if someone were to tell me that, I might be like, yeah, but I'm still gonna listen because I want to. Great. Then you're what I joke, an LL, a leisure listener. You're listening or watching because you want to, not because you feel I have to, and I want you to be able to go, wow, that's something you just said that I don't have to worry about because I have someone who's helping me with all of this. So this story is specifically for those who have an advisor today or have never hired an advisor and you're wondering what questions to ask. So I've put a ton of videos on YouTube. Here's 10 questions to ask, here's things to think through, when is there value? I even put one video out there saying, Hey, am I crazy to spend$30,000,$40,000,$50,000 a year on an advisor? And there are situations where I go, yeah, like please don't do that. That probably does not make a lot of sense. There's other situations where it can make sense, always. What I'm gonna walk you through is how I spoke to a doctor. Um, and many of you know my doctor's story, but this is how I hope you not just respond, but this is how I hope you communicate with your advisor because a lot of people get nervous. And I was just getting a phone call there. So you can see, guys, this is all authentic stuff here. And I could ask my editors to edit that out, but sometimes I like leaving it in it just so you guys can see. I promise I'm human. I'm just recording this right now on Garage Band, and I had this thought, so I want to share it. So I there's a true story. I went to a doctor once, and I very much try not to be a difficult client. I do ask a lot of questions, but I try not to be difficult. So I went ahead and asked the doctor, hey, would you please explain why I need to take this pill? And I'm very transparent. You guys know me by now. You might not know this, but I have a difficult time going to the bathroom standing up. And I am a male, and so many males do stand up to go to the bathroom, and I just have difficulty doing so for a variety of health reasons that I will spare you the details on. So I go to the doctor and I say, Hey, I would really just love to know why I need to take this pill. I'm not trying to be difficult. Would you explain it? Doctor goes on to explain it. I said, Doc, you know, what you just said there, it sounded great. I think you think it sounded great, but quite honestly, I don't know what you just said. So do you mind explaining that again? So he explains it again and he goes into greater detail, thinking that would be more helpful. And I go, look, I'm really sorry. I I hope that I'm not being difficult, but I'm not gonna take a pill blindly. So could you please try it another way? Or I'm gonna have to find another doctor. I just I'm sorry, what do I do here? Because I want to take it, but I'm only gonna take it with confidence if I fully understand it. It's who I am. I'm reasonable, I'm just naturally a skeptical person about a lot of things. So I ask lots of questions, but I don't want to be difficult. So he explains it again, and I go, Doc, you did great right there. I now see clearly why I need to take this pill, but you did such a good job explaining that. You now have made me think of more questions to ask based on what you've talked about just a second ago. And the analogy I now tell people is the doctor, he explained to me the pill, and then he explained to me in a way I didn't understand it, and then he explained to me the lab where the pills are made. And basically what I'm saying is, Doc, I don't care about the lab. I just need to know why I'm gonna take this pill or not. So then he explained it really well, and now here I am being the annoying, difficult client, going, Hey, Doc, you did such a good job. I now want to go back into the lab. I don't want to see the whole lab, but I want to see a little bit because it's gonna bring more confidence when it comes to me taking this pill, also I can sleep better at night, which I believe is all all of us want. We just want to sleep at night knowing we're making the most informed decision. I'm not asking for him to guarantee that it works. I'm asking for the highest probability and to understand how that essentially gets calculated. So then he explained it in great detail in a way I understood it again. I said, Doc, that was great. Now we're at a position where I'm truly taking this pill because we have trust. And he very transparently said, Ari, I thought you were being difficult at the beginning, but it was actually refreshing. And I said, Why? He goes, Well, I'm on autopilot all day. I explained what I just explained to you to 100 other clients a day. Now it probably wasn't a hundred, he just said a hundred. But the the point is I don't often check in with myself about okay, am I delivering my information in the most effective way? And so now I'm gonna tweak the way I'm providing my value, how I'm explaining what it is I want a client to potentially consider. And that made me think, based on his comment, am I explaining things in the most effective manner? And I want someone, whether you're working with an advisor, whether you're going to a doctor, to not feel nervous or poorly about yourself to ask those questions. I worked in the financial services industry and I didn't have a Roth IRA at the beginning because I was too nervous to ask if I should already have one. And by the time I did my research on it, and many of you are ahead of me on that, and I'm a certified financial planner. In fact, I was in like the top one or two percent of CFPs at my age, and I still was embarrassed to ask because I just didn't know. Now, I had my CFP at that point, but going years prior, when I was in college, I heard people talk about Roth IRAs, and I heard it so much I figured, well, I should have it by now. If I were to go ask anyone about it, it would just be the most embarrassing thing in the world. So I urge you to ask all the questions you could possibly think about. If you ever speak to your advisor and you go, you know, I feel like we went through the hour. I have more questions, but I feel bad because I know they have more clients in the waiting room, even if it's a virtual waiting room. I don't want to take too much of their time, I don't want to be a difficult client, I would say that's head trash. Like go get the questions that you have answers that you want answers to. Go make sure that you're getting confident about what you care about most. If you can't sleep well at night because whatever it is is keeping you up, then you deserve to ask as many questions as possible to get to that point. So we take that very seriously here at Root Financial. If you currently have an advisor and you're wondering, okay, what do we do different? You can always go to Root Financial, learn more about the process page, and you'll see, okay, what is it that we truly do and how does it differ from a traditional advisor? And then hopefully you guys continue to enjoy the content. Just want to tell you that quick story and appreciate you guys more episodes on the way.
