Now let's jump into this week's episode. Is gambling fixed? That's that always eternal question. Is it rigged? Why can't more people win gambling? Since more people are engaging in gambling? Because now, because of the USA, because of sports, because of state lotteries and state sanctions, gambling is normalized. We are now brainwashing, we are now telling our kids, minors, that gambling is fun entertainment. It is not. I am here to tell you, do not ever believe gambling is entertainment or fun. Gambling is gambling. It is just a risk. So you've got to understand that. Now the country doesn't even know what's going on.
Speaker 1:Now there's been a lot more talk about NFL games being fixed. Especially, there's a lot more leniency in terms of penalty calls for the Kansas City Chiefs. So that's where a lot of this new talk is about the NFL or pro sports being fixed. Now, before we delve more into the current environment as we approach the Super Bowl in less than two weeks, you've got to understand that professional sports has always had this almost looking over their shoulder about gambling, the fear that sports was going to not be looked upon. About the love of sports, about competition, about being in the arena. Am I better than you in this sport, whether it's an individual sport or a team sport? And there's all types of gambling scandals, some that have been truly proven, and a lot of it was also based on the owners, like the 1919 Chicago Black Sox. Well, a lot of that was because the way the owners paid the players. There's a lot of things that have gone on. I mean there is old clips of people coming on the Mike Donahue show in the 1980s, talking about how many different NFL games have been fixed. You can talk about horse racing, boxing matches so much out there Then these are actually sports that are legitimized.
Speaker 1:Now, with AI and with phones, people are actually betting on ping pong, women's basketball in small third world countries, women's basketball in small third world countries, badminton all kinds of just weird non-documented sports. I don't even know if these games or these events truly take place or you're just technically just playing a video game and you can actually also bet on video games. You can bet on gamers. You can bet on so much on all these different platforms. That is what is scary. You have so many people now engaging in gambling on stuff that's non-verifiable. So we talk about a lot of the stuff that's not even verifiable on how it can be manipulated, fixed and rigged and you're going to lose and that's why people keep losing money.
Speaker 1:You think that these major corporations that are listed, where you're talking about DraftKings or Fandle, which is otherwise Flutter, or all these other we can just keep going down the list. We can talk about the ones that talk about more, like you know, talking about the players. Now you have all these different advertising for underdog prize picks or better. But you also have the Fan Duels. You got the ESPN Bet, the 365. You have so many different platforms to try to engage in all types of forms of gambling and so so much is fixed. And because it's on your phone and you're technically betting against the computer, more than likely it's fixed. That's why you're losing and they are making not millions, billions of dollars, and yet they're constantly crying that they can't tap into the entire legal and illegal gambling black markets, because the illegal black market in terms of gambling is what they estimate, four times the amount, so the $10 billion that legalized corporations make. They're claiming that there's $40 billion out there. Well, you're never going to stop bookies or any types of underground games or any of this other stuff. It's always going to be out there. Yet we're constantly talking and seeing events.
Speaker 1:Let's just talk about what has happened in the last couple of years. Besides the $22 million that an employee for the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL team took, there was also the so-called translator on the famous Ohtani Shohei Ohtani, the Major League Baseball, los Angeles Dodger baseball player. Originally it was $8.5 million that the translator gambled, even though there's a lot of evidence and there's a lot of stuff that has been pulled in terms of box scores. That's how I know a lot of this stuff is hush-hush. It's amazing how sports leagues, because they don't want people to know all the true facts of what had gone on, and then it turns out that the translator, the Otani, was 16 million.
Speaker 1:You're talking about a lot of illegal recently here in the month of January, illegal slot machines throughout the state of Florida. We just found out here last week that here in Texas, the Texas lottery has in connection with lotterycom by putting lotteries now on your iPhone, on your Samsung phone, on any types of these phone apps. It's much more susceptible to rigging and things being fixed and yet people still think that they want to believe that they have a chance to win. Let's say it's a lottery and it's several million dollars or hundreds of million dollars, depending on if you're playing Powerball or if you're trying to make a few hundred dollars, a few thousand dollars on a specific NFL game, or you're doing a prop bet or you're doing live betting on a specific NFL game. Or you're doing a prop bet or you're doing live betting.
Speaker 1:There's so much out there that's so easily fixed, whether it's a statistician for a prop bet or it's a timekeeper, to start or stop the clock, give yourself more time. Or it's a referee or some type of official or as an exact player. There are so many things. Nfl players have been now banned from the NBA. Nba players have been banned because of prop betting on how many three-pointers they will hit and not knowing when. Anytime there's a blip and there's more action on anything that's considered more random, like a prop bet or a live bet or some type of total, that is going to be scrutinized and they will find out whether or not you did it or a family member placed the bet, and then you will ultimately be found out. No different than the Texas lottery. It's amazing how a person that was running the Texas lottery for over 15 years, a man by the name of Greg Grief, and he all of a sudden decides to retire, of course, from a well-paying job, because there's going to be a lot more scrutiny, auditing of what was going on.
Speaker 1:Everyone always wants an edge. It's no different than all the different scandals that have happened on Wall Street using supercomputers to try to get an edge on trading. Everyone's trying to just get rich quick, and that, to me, is the biggest question why gambling is dangerous for the United States Because it gives you the idea that you can have a good life by not working. And what do I always say? Work hard, work hard in your relationships, work hard in recovery. Work hard in your jobs your business school learn. Work hard in recovery. Work hard in your jobs. Your business school learn. You've got to just work. Work hard at the gym. If you want to have a good body, you just got to work.
Speaker 1:And that's the most dangerous thing about gambling it puts in this lazy non-work ethic into people. You can't get anything in life without actually working, and that's what I constantly want to push and what I push upon in the Recovery Freedom Circle. If people truly want to deal with recovery, you've got to work. You don't just sit your ass in a meeting and then magically get the 12 steps. You actually have to work. And if you want it to be done quickly, efficiently, and with someone who's an expert like me, it can be done in 18 weeks. So there's a lot of things out there that are fixed, that are rigged, and it comes within the gambling sphere, and so I encourage people stop gambling.
Speaker 1:You're never going to win because the corporations, the casinos, the sports books. They have all the first of all, they have all the odds. They also have all the resources. They're going to manipulate you with advertising. They're going to manipulate you with giving you one free spin, some extra money. You can non-sweat bet, insurance, bet, all the BS, bullshit that they push you through. No different than all the alcohol companies that try to tell you how alcohol is fun. All alcohol does is just poison your body. Same thing with fast food All the chemicals and all the BS that now they're constantly putting in that it's not the same fast food that it was 40 years ago. So, gambling, alcohol, fast food all poison in one way or another to your body, to your financial health. You're never going to win. Enjoy the people that are around you, the people that are in your life and enjoy work, enjoy life, enjoy love and just make sure that your life is wonderful. Like I always say, life is wonderful. Now we'll conclude this episode of the 1% in recovery podcast.
