Today's Horsewoman

Jackie Turnbull, Horsewoman

Rose Cushing

Jackie Turnbull is a multi talented horsewoman. She is a gifted Clinician, Judge and produces The Great American Trail Horse Sale.  The sale has grown into one of the premier horse shows and sales in the country! I know you will enjoy getting to know her.

Rose Cushing:

This is Rose Coaching, and I'm the host of today's Horsewoman. Today our guest is Jackie Turnbull, and Jackie is an amazing horsewoman and clinician. But today we're going to talk about her upcoming trail horse sale. So welcome to the show, Jackie.

SPEAKER_03:

Thank you, Rose. It's so good to be here with you again.

Rose Cushing:

Um, your show's coming up pretty soon, isn't it?

SPEAKER_03:

Yes it is. Um the date is April 4th through the 6th, and it will be held in Lexington, Virginia at the Virginia Horse Center. Okay.

Rose Cushing:

Before we get into the horse sale part, tell the audience a little bit about you so they'll know you.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay, thank you. I I have fortunately been blessed to be able to have horses in my life since I was a child. Got a horse probably when I was around 11 years old, and uh I got my DNA from my mother who loved horses and uh grew up uh wanting one as a child. And so when we were able to somehow get one, uh we had to all work hard at that. And um I just realized that I loved being around them and I got involved in showing, and I was uh fortunate enough to have people ask me to train their horses because I was succeeding on my own horse, and that's what started me training horses professionally for many, many years. And I'm now a clinician, and I work with teaching people um with my JTO horsemanship and my partner, Trent Regro.

Rose Cushing:

Now you've you've been teaching people for a long time, and you know, you you've had some major accomplishments yourself, but you've been doing this trail horse sale a really long time too. So tell us why you started it.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, we had been putting on some horse sales prior to that, and um we said, you know, we need something unique and different. And I had just read in the Porter Horse Journal an article that the number one thing people do with their horses is trail ride. And that kind of surprised me with the show world as big it is as big as it is, but people really enjoyed the pleasure of their horse with trail riding, and I was so glad to see it. So we decided let's do that. Uh the Great American Trail Horse Sale uh came about. We were 23 years now later, it is the Great American Ranch and Trail Horse Sale, and we've added ranch horses to the sale.

Rose Cushing:

That's really amazing, and you know, when somebody's been in business as long as you have, you're doing all the right stuff. Trail riding has evolved so much, and they're in and it's really the favorite discipline, I think, of pretty much everybody that rides in one way or another. So when you go to your sale, tell us a little bit about the structure because the structure is pretty unique in that you know you can test drive them before the sale and all that stuff. So tell me a little about that.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, um, we have it where if you come in on Thursday, that's when we start. Most of the horses have already arrived then, and so they're wanting to demonstrate, and we give them the opportunity to have people come in on Thursday, watch the horses demonstrate, see them in their stalls, watch them being saddled, and then they're able to talk to the consigners one-on-one, really get a good feel for the horse. And if they feel it's the horse they're very interested in, they are able to stride the horse there and ride him around for you know short enough time where they get a good feel of this horse.

Rose Cushing:

Yeah. And and that's nice to have that time, you know, to really talk to the folks that brought them and and find out the details about them and stuff. I that I love that.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, it's been a good success. Um they do sign a release that says they are riding the horse and understand, you know, that it is a horse and with the Virginia uh horse uh laws that they have also. But um it gives them an opportunity to really see that horse and feel if it it rides like they want, if it has the training that they're looking for, neck reining, leg A's and Q's. So um uh it works well. We've also added a pony session road. Oh, I didn't know ponies now.

Rose Cushing:

Cool. So tell me about that. I hadn't heard about it.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, we have some amazing ponies there this year. We have some small little guys, and then we'll have the 13 hand, what I call a pony horse.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_03:

13, maybe 132, that uh is a little bigger so that a smaller child when they're ready to move on up, and they still may be only seven or eight, um, even nine years old, and they're looking for not quite a big horse yet, but that's pony horse that can work. And we've got some beauties here that I think people are gonna really like.

Rose Cushing:

That is such a good service because really good ponies are hard to find. You know, so oftentimes people go out and buy a pony and they get a bad taste in their mouth, but it's not necessarily the pony's fault. So it's good that they can see them at your sale and and really get to know them.

SPEAKER_03:

That's so true, Rose, and and to see that uh how far along that pony is, and it of course it he will suit their child well. We have some that even pull little carts, and uh it's it's really a fun time to watch them at the sale.

SPEAKER_00:

That's really neat.

Rose Cushing:

Now you also have the trail competition.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, I will say this is what has made us stand out and be unique. Although I will say more and more sales have picked up on us. Um I always use the term um uh often uh duplicated but never replicated.

SPEAKER_01:

Yep.

SPEAKER_03:

Um but uh we do offer trail competition for our horses and a ranch horse competition. I'll tell you a little about trail competition. Okay. And uh we have eight obstacles with four judges. Each judge will have two obstacles to judge, and we'll start out with uh, and I always let them know what we're doing, except for two surprise obstacles. Because we want the horses to have an idea, they're all natural things you'd find on the ranch or trail. Starting with log boxes, we have some big logs made in just two square boxes that they have to step into, do a three-quarter turn, step into the other box, three-quarter turn, and then step into the log chute and back out. We'll move from there to the bridge, we'll have a bridge, and it can vary from a teeter bridge, a step up or step down bridge, um, and it'll have maybe some things around the bridge. Then we'll move to a surprise obstacle, which nobody knows until sale day. I'm sorry, until the day of the competition. And our fourth obstacle are trees. We actually bring in cedar trees and have them configured to where the horses will push through them and weave through those trees, showing that they're willing to go and response, rider's cue to go through. Then we'll have a what we call our campsite, and we'll actually have a real campsite. We have uh um the logs there burning, and we have different things set around the campsite. Little uh sometimes uh little creatures can be found there, and the horse has to maneuver past that campsite and through. Our next obstacle is another surprise obstacle. And then finally, our famous outhouse. You ride up to the outhouse, dismount ground tide, and walk in and close the door. Oh, they'll stay in there a few seconds and then come on out, take the reins up, and leave their horse and load in a stock trailer. That's their course. That's everything that really can show the horses off, show their skills and talent. And we have a packed crowd on Friday night there to watch that.

Rose Cushing:

And you have a pretty big price prize for that, don't you?

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, we have a saddle. We'll have a uh trophy saddle given to first place. We use a buckle for reserve champions, and then we'll have other nice, very nice awards to give to the other top five horses that made the final competition. The final, we take the top ten on Friday night after the the scores are handed in. We'll take our top ten horses and they'll invited back Saturday morning before the sale to go in our final championship trail class.

Rose Cushing:

Nice. And now your your ranch trail class, ranch horse class, what is that?

SPEAKER_03:

Okay, on uh that'll be on Friday afternoon at 2 30, and we'll have actually live cattle brought in for them to demonstrate, and it's what we'll do. We first run a pattern. It'll be an H U H A ranch horse pattern that includes extending gate, circle, stopping, three-quarter turns, backing up, all in a pattern. And after they've worked that pattern, we'll turn a cow loose into the arena, and they have to box with their horse. It's called boxing, which is holding the cow at one end of the arena, not letting it escape into the big part. And so they can, it's kind of like cutting basically, but you're able to rein your horse. You don't have to do it on a loose rain. After that, a 50 second will call time, and the rider will go up and take that cow and drive it down to a small pen. And they have to drive it into the pen. After they've gotten it into the pen, they'll go walk in and then drive the cow back out, get your ropes ready, and then uh try to rope the cow. Now we don't go tightly or and if they don't catch, but the judges are looking to see a horse that got in position and took the rider to the proper position to rope.

Rose Cushing:

Very nice.

SPEAKER_03:

And that's competition. Go ahead. Um, that's the ranch competition, or we'll have probably uh twelve to fifteen horses in that in our trail competition. Almost every horse enters that. So we could have uh about 70 horses in that trail competition.

Rose Cushing:

That's fantastic. And you know, if you're shopping for a good trail horse, you know, that's nice to know that you can go the AQHA route or you can go the obstacle route. And you don't have to do any of that, but they're that trained, and that's really nice.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, and people love seeing the horses demonstrate. Um, they will on Thursday we'll have a meet and greet social on Thursday afternoon um at about four o'clock where people can also see the horses just demonstrate freestyle. Some will hobble in, some will do things, uh have the horse lay down, or we'll have other obstacles they can work at too, which then, you know, they can demonstrate on. And every horse will do that while then they are after everyone's demonstrated, we let the buyers come down into the arena, talk with the consigners, ask the question, and that's another opportunity where they may choose to try to ride the horse and try it and see how it does.

Rose Cushing:

That's really nice. Now tell me what kind of horses do you have, what breeds, and you know, what's the variety?

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, we'll have every kind, uh mostly quarter horses, I should say, but crossfreds have become very popular roads. And that's where they have taken a uh a big breed, which could be perchruns or clides, and breed them to a quarter horse. And they get a mid-sized horse with a little bigger body, bigger feet, uh, bigger weight, but the temperament is very, very good. When you cross with those um larger horses, we call them cold-blooded horses because their temperament is very mild usually. That's why this great work horses. And when you breed it to the quarter horse, who's very agile and and handy and easy to train, then you get a really nice horse. Many of them are used for rodeos, pick-up horses, they're used for ranch work, very popular now for ranch work. We'll also probably have um a few horses that are um paint. We'll have some Appaloosas in with those quarter horses.

Rose Cushing:

That's nice. And I know you had some um draft horses in the past, you know, that were just draft horses, gypsy banners and and some big heavy breeds that that come from Ohio that were beautiful.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, we have some of the rows. I'm glad you brought that up. Um, our Gipsy banner has been our high seller for the last few years. We have a beautiful, um, two beautiful banners coming up this sale, and uh some banner crosses. But um, we have a Palomino banner that's just beautiful, and a black and white paint banner that they are just beautiful to watch, for sure. And we'll have some paint horses and Appaloosa horses also.

Rose Cushing:

Now, is everything Western?

SPEAKER_03:

Actually, we'll have some people um that will demonstrate their horse English and Western. So um we've got quite a uh let's see, we've got horses that will be doing that. We have a big beautiful um paint horse that'll be there that's 17 hands, and he's a beauty.

Rose Cushing:

Wow.

SPEAKER_03:

Um and they're gonna demonstrate him both ways. And we also do have some full-bred uh purse run horses, uh, Rose, like you mentioned, that are beautiful uh and and just amazing to ride and watch them go. They're just um very, very handy, even though they're a bigger size. They they'll be in the trail competition and do all the obstacles along with the smaller horses.

Rose Cushing:

That's neat. Now, d are you gonna have any that pull wagons and stuff too, or or is that are they all just riding?

SPEAKER_03:

No, we have probably about five horses that can pull the wagons and uh most of them come from our homage designers who you know they are used extensively um on the highways actually, and are they are sold as uh um you know, road safe so that if you do have to have a time where you are near the highway or have to be crossing trail riding, um that these horses are trained to do that, and it's very impressive. That'll all be on their video.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Architects uh we'll supply about ten photos we'll have of each horse along with a video. We have videos from seven minutes and some people have them up to 25 minutes videos of their horses.

Rose Cushing:

And are these online so people can pre-shop?

SPEAKER_03:

They sure are, Rose. We'll have them on our Facebook page, Great American Ranch and Trail Horse Sale, as well as our um website. So you can go to either place. Now, our website is really the place to start out because you can get a feel of the whole schedule of events. We have everything shown for every day, what we'll be doing. We also have lodging where you can find all the local hotels. And also, if you want to camp, if you have your trailer, living quarters, or camping trailers, the Hort Center does provide hookups. So that works out very well. So people can bring their trailer if they choose to stay in it, or there's all the hotels that are very close within three miles.

Rose Cushing:

Hang on just one second. Sure.

SPEAKER_03:

I hear my talking on that, I will say that that website also has information about uh local areas to uh visit while you're there. You can find out about um all the uh restaurants that we have to go to, and so there's a lot of information on that website. And our Facebook page will be posting horses every day that will include photos and videos and footnotes describing the horse.

Rose Cushing:

And you have um a kind of a of uh honor guarantee kind of thing on them too, don't you?

SPEAKER_03:

We do. We um we're one of the first sales to ever offer a five-day soundness guarantee. And that inc incorporates um your horse if you take him home and within five days, if you have any um work done, um, examinations or x-rays, and where to find anything that might be a problem, you are able to contact us and we we will go together with the seller and decide what the issue may be and uh go from there with the vet report. But we very rarely ever have anything like that uh as a problem. Most of the consignment. Consigners offer X-rays and vet exams with their horse when they're sold at the time of the sale.

Rose Cushing:

And most of your consigners have been with you a long time. It's not like a bunch of here today, gone tomorrow people. These are really credible dealers and trainers.

SPEAKER_03:

Most certainly, Rose. You're right. I have consigners that many of them uh been going come into the sale for 15 years um regularly.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

That's a good that's a good time to talk to a new um generation of uh equine horse sellers. Um, you know, for many years there was the term a trader, oh, you know, a horse trader, but we have a whole group of people now who are very capable and who are very competent at training their horses. And so what they will do, they actually breed them. Many of them breed them and raise them and train them and offer them for sale at auction. This is a whole new genre of people that have opened up and totally made their life living on this kind of business by offering very well-bred and very well-trained horses. These horses now that are selling as trail horses, 90% of them can sidepack, back up, do 360-degree spins, they can lope off on leaves, take correctly, ride on a loose brain, have a very good stop. And this is now the new trail horse of today.

SPEAKER_01:

Right.

SPEAKER_03:

We find coming and being sold. Now, some people will say, Well, the cost is high. Well, you're paying for that training, and you have an opportunity to see the horse in so such a uh format here with the sale and the competition. That horse is really going through a lot. And if they can handle all of that at the sale and ride nicely still, you're really getting a nice horse. We're offering way more to in today's market uh courses and their training than used to be. Also, Rose, I get quite a few people tell me how they um tried to buy um online and they'll drive miles or even all day to get to a place to see a horse, and it is not the same horse that was represented how it should be.

SPEAKER_01:

Right.

SPEAKER_03:

You know, uh they're very sometimes discouraged having uh gone and hauled and went to a place expecting one thing and finding another when they get there. This way with this horse sale, you have three days to see that horse and to uh watch him act and ride with other horses and perform, and you can really get to know them much better than driving a long way sometimes and not finding the horse you were looking for.

Rose Cushing:

Well, I tell you too.

SPEAKER_03:

Very, very beautiful horses along with the training.

Rose Cushing:

Well, I tell you, you know, I've been doing horse stuff a long, long time. And buying a horse is a lot like buying a car. You know, you you pay more up front, you don't have a lot of problems. You buy a cheap car, you're constantly a black hole to get it fixed. Same thing with the horses. You know, you're gonna pay one way or the other, so you're a whole lot smarter to buy something worth having right out of the gate and enjoy it than you are to buy something that you've got to be fixed all the time. And may never be what you wanted it to be.

SPEAKER_03:

That is so true, Rose. And and uh that's why the opportunity is here for people. Now we also do online bidding and uh we encourage people who are unable to attend the sale to do their due diligence, go see the horse if they possibly can, call, we'll have the phone number listed on every horse that is posted, call them up, talk to them prior to the sale, make an appointment to ride that horse at the sale, a certain time that that um consigner will have their horse ready for you and be there with you to ride and try the horse. I also will give a talk on Friday at 12 noon about how to buy the right horse. And Rose, I get quite a good group of people who come and sit and listen to that clinic I'll give uh for about 30 minutes on talking to them about how important it is to find the right temperament horse for your temperament and to find the horse that can do what you will do. We'll have some people who don't get to ride often. Well, they need to ride a horse, buy a horse that doesn't need ridden as much. And we'll have many people comment on their footnotes that this horse, if you can't ride every day, you can still, you know, have a week or two where you can go and then pull him up and he's the same horse.

SPEAKER_01:

Right.

SPEAKER_03:

So you need to think of that so many things that people they just are moved by the moment and they might buy a horse that has more skills than they do. And so it's important to ask the consigner if that horse can ride to their skill levels, which would be beginner, intermediate, advanced intermediate, um, or you know, um have the skills to go for what that horse offers. And if their skill can't keep up with it, it doesn't usually work out because that horse could take advantage or quit doing what you thought they could do because they, you know, haven't been kept up with all their skills.

Rose Cushing:

And you know, that's that's a good point, Jackie, because your your warranty guarantee thing, it doesn't mean that you bought the wrong horse and then you can get your money back. It means if there's something truly wrong with the horse, then that's a different story. And if you're not honest about your skill level and you don't really know what you're gonna do with it, it's better to go and look and think about it and learn. You know, and I can't I when I was younger buying horses, I made up my mind I wanted a certain color. And that's all I got out. And I got him, but I didn't keep him but two weeks, and I had to go somewhere else, and then I found something that was ugly, but I loved it for days and days and years. And you know, you you just gotta have no preconceived notions about exactly what you want based on those things, and you what you need is way more important.

SPEAKER_03:

That's a good point, and and I go over that with them. If you're a shy person who's who's, you know, kind of timid in ways, please make sure you look for a horse that is what we call more woven go. Yes. Term now that everyone needs to know. That means horse you take also another term is uh a push horse. Not a pull a push horse, you kind of have to ease ease him along using your legs a little more. Um just a very easy to stop. The push uh the pull horse means that you're having to slow him down more often because uh if your legs are accidentally bumping, he's going.

Rose Cushing:

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_03:

And and I always recommend, Rose, that as you get a new horse, if you have someone locally to get lessons from in the beginning, it really helps because that trainer can help you connect sooner with your horse than you may have at home. Because they'll go over the cues that that horse has. They'll ride him, feel those cues, learn them. And another thing, it's important to talk with the consigner after you have purchased that horse. Find out what they need to eat, how much they eat, what type of hay and grain they've been using, and the quantity, so important. And then is that horse eating more comfortable in a stall or turning out? Do they get along with horses in the pasture? So important. And one thing I highly say never buy a horse and just turn them out the first day in a pasture with other horses. Very dangerous thing because those other horses, that's their home. It would be like opening your door to a total stranger and say, Oh, come on in, you know, and they start trying to help themselves with everything. So um that horse needs time to acclimate to his new home, and they should be kind of kept where they can see the other horses, but don't just turn them in because those horses who live there are going to start kicking that horse and could possibly run him through the fence.

Rose Cushing:

Yep. Absolutely. And and I think you know it's good to let him have 24 to 48 hours before you try to ride him and do stuff with him. Let him get acclimated to where he's at and and get over that part because it's a big transition to move to a new place.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, that's a a very important part too that we talk about. Um, if that horse has been removed from his friends, his buddies, or any horse, whether you buy it at a sale or wherever you buy it, they've been removed from their home.

SPEAKER_02:

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03:

And it takes them. I I even say it it takes 30 days for that horse to really start realizing who's feeding them, when they get fed. I'm safe, I see other horses here, and I think I'm gonna be okay.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

And um that that's really the time frame. And yes, and when you purchase it, uh give him a few days. He's been at a big event. He's hauled, traveled. We have horses coming all the way from states of Iowa, Missouri, Texas, um, uh, Indiana, Illinois, coming from all over. He's so they hauled there, they were there three days working, riding. Let them have a rest. I'd like to see them have a rest. I know everybody's excited to ride them, but they need a few days' rest.

Rose Cushing:

I agree, because you know, when you're the new person in a situation, whether it's a new kid at school or a new employee at work, your hackles are a little bit up and you're a little defensive, and he is too, because he doesn't know what to expect. So you may not see the true animal, you know, until he has time to to get to trust in the situation. So I I think 30 days is a very, very good time frame to give him a fair chance.

SPEAKER_03:

Absolutely is. And um we have uh people who I was going to say again about um bidding online, that they have every opportunity to talk to the seller, to watch them run the videos if they can't make the sale, and make an informed decision when they buy. I recommend they do it by phone. They'll have an option to either do it online typing in the price themselves or on the phone. And I highly recommend the phone because then you're live bidding and you may have a glitch on the computer, whereas on the phone we won't have that.

Rose Cushing:

Yeah, I agree. And like you were saying about this being a new breed of trainer salesperson in the horse industry, he doesn't want to sell you something you're gonna be unhappy with because that's not good for anybody. You know, he wants happy, satisfied customers because that repeat business is how you're in it for the long game, and we all know that. And you know, that that's important to them as important as it is to you.

SPEAKER_03:

It is, and I question them, I have them sign papers, mm-hmm, um their horses foundness, I tell them, and for years people have learned we do not take this is not a Friday night sale where people come and just want to get rid of a horse.

SPEAKER_02:

No.

SPEAKER_03:

The people come here have loved these horses, many of them again, this is their job, this is what they train for for this day. And they want that horse to find a wonderful loving home as much as the buyer wants a a wonderful loving horse. So we try to put the two together, and I'm very selective in the horses we we take. And now the next thing people will want to talk about Rhodes is the cost. I get people every day emailing. I don't know if I can afford a horse at your sale. And because we're not a Friday night sale where you know people are just unloading a horse, um, these are well trained and they're beautiful.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Um to tell people you you have to expect that you are going to put some money in the horse, um, and to just remember that you get what you're paying for and have to understand, and that the today's market is at some of the highest it has been. Um it was even higher right after COVID, which is an amazing thing, you know. But things are leveling out a little bit more, I can say, Rose. Um we will still have some high sellers that probably sell very high. But I work hard at taking some horses too that may have a little age to be a teenage horse, and it has the same all those buttons and all the skills, but will be a little bit older, so the price will reflect that. And I tell people, please don't hesitate on buying a teenage horse because most people think they want a six-year-old, but they really need a teenage horse. I agree with you, especially if what you're doing needs riding more. And if you buy a person fixed, she needs either turned out or or or four and older. I'd say four to eight years old, those horses need to be written or turned out or worked on a regular basis.

Rose Cushing:

Absolutely. And you know, something that I've learned from my mentor of a long time is look at your bloodlines too, because some horses are born and bred to be worked. And you know, they're not a you ride them once a month horse. And so, you know, learn a little bit about that stuff too, because it pays to to have that knowledge.

SPEAKER_03:

You know, the the happiest buyer is a knowledgeable buyer. Yes, ma'am. And uh that's why I give my talk on it. I want people to be knowledgeable, I want them to ask the consigner. I am um I'm not a beginner, but I'm not an intermediate. Do you think that I can uh uh ride this your horse? And the I settled the sellers that I'm meeting. Make sure make sure that um you can buy the right horse that's gonna fit you unless you have the skills to ride the horse you're buying.

Rose Cushing:

I agree, Jack. I think another good point is when you come and you're trying out horses, listen to what the seller says because when he watches you ride, he may say, Well, you know, you'd be okay with this horse, but this one over here would make you really happy. Why don't you try him? Because, you know, they want you to be happy too. And most of them have a they have high dollar horses. I mean, it's not junk. And so they don't need to make the sale desperately like they used to in the old days, you know. That's all. I mean, they got a lot of a lot of time and effort and energy into these animals, and and so they deserve the price they're asking, but they also aren't trying to stick you with something.

SPEAKER_03:

That's right, most certainly. Well, bros, they can find out about our sale and where to go and what to do by going to our Facebook page and our website. I hope that people will definitely go there and check everything out and make their reservations. They've got about um 30 days here before the sale comes out, and they they have all the time to really, I say, keep a yellow notepad by your uh phone, by your either your computer or by your phone, and write down the names of the horses you like. And then that way when you get to the sale, you can go right to them and find them and and have your list. And I always see people at the sale with the list, many of them, walking around looking at their list or their catalog that they noticed.

Rose Cushing:

Good idea. Now tell us the date one more time.

SPEAKER_03:

The date is April 4th, 5th, and 6th. You can come any day that you like. We recommend you come on Thursday the 4th for the meet and greet social. Friday will be all the competition, and Saturday will be the sale.

Rose Cushing:

And and the website is what address address again?

SPEAKER_03:

The website is Great American Trail HorseSale.com. And our Facebook page is Great American Rat and Trail Horse Sale.

Rose Cushing:

Very nice. I appreciate you being here with us, and I wish you tons of luck. It's one of the most fun events that I ever attended. And if you guys out there are looking for a horse or you might be in the market for a horse, go to the sale and even if you're not ready to buy, get educated, see what's out there, how much is it running, what kind of things, bells and whistles do you want. This is a good place to learn as much as it is to purchase.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, it is, and they can also watch it live streaming the day of the sale. Go to our Facebook page and we'll have a link for you.

Rose Cushing:

Very nice, very nice. All right, well, thank you for being on the show.

SPEAKER_03:

It's my pleasure, Rose. I always love talking with you. Thank you for having me.

Rose Cushing:

I always enjoy you too, Jackie. I think you're one of the smartest horsewomen I ever met. Oh, thank you. And as always, thank you guys for listening to our podcast.

SPEAKER_03:

Hello, this is Jackie Turnbull with the Turnbull E Clime Productions. I would like to tell you about a special upcoming event that I will be producing. It's called the Great American Ranch and Trail Horse Sale, and it will be held April 4th, 5th, and 6th. It is a horse auction that's been taking place for the past 22 years and is held at the beautiful Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia. This horse auction specializes in beautiful, quality ranch, trail, and family horses. If you love horses and have been searching for that special one to enjoy with your family, this is the place to be. We offer at auction beautiful, well-trained, well-bred, talented horses with multiple skills. We will also offer a pony session at the beginning of the sale. Please visit our website at Great American Trail Horse Sale.com for detailed information and follow us on our Facebook page to see the photos and videos of the horses offered at the sale. If you are unable to attend, sign up on our website with the link to bid online or by phone on the day of the sale. Thank you, and we hope to see you there.

Rose Cushing:

I hope you enjoyed today's show. Our souls wander in similar places. Even though we may not know each other, we touch the same wind, we walk under the same sky, and our hearts wander in the same dreams. We are one. Women, just like you and me. Thank you for listening.
