The Northrop F-5E Tiger II is a lightweight multirole fighter which is an upgraded version of the F-5A Freedom Fighter.  Upgrades to the engines, avionics, and structural improvements allow the F-5E to fly faster, carry more fuel and weapons, and have significantly improved sensors.  All of this was done while keeping the F-5E an easy to maintain, inexpensive to fly, and highly maneuverable fighter. The F-5E is still in use today as an aggressor or adversary aircraft by the US Navy, and is still operational with over 25 countries. The Tiger II has and continues to make its mark on military aviation.

Here are some specifications for the F-5E:

Length. 47 ft 4.75 in (14.45 m)

Height. 13 ft 4.5 in (4.08 m)

Wingspan. 26 ft 8 in (8.13 m)

Max speed 1060 mph (Mach 1.4)

Empty weight. 9,558 lb (4,349 kg)

Loaded weight. 15,745 lb (7,157 kg)

Max. takeoff weight. 24,722 lb (11,214 kg)

Engine Thrust Class (Each):  3,500 lbf (16 kN) thrust each dry, 5,000 lbf (22 kN) with afterburner
