I never, never grade"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":322.95,"endTime":327.03,"body":"myself on the curve. If"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":322.95,"endTime":327.03,"body":"anything, I grade on a pass-fail"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":327.03,"endTime":331.89,"body":"scale. Either the year was"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":327.03,"endTime":331.89,"body":"perfect, or it was a failure."},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":332.49,"endTime":335.88,"body":"Either I strung together, like,"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":332.49,"endTime":335.88,"body":"a streak of faultless days, or"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":335.88,"endTime":338.85,"body":"they were all ruined. Some of"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":335.88,"endTime":338.85,"body":"you right now have already quit"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":338.85,"endTime":342.54,"body":"your New Year's resolutions,"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":338.85,"endTime":342.54,"body":"because you missed a day in the"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":342.54,"endTime":345.48,"body":"first two or three weeks of"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":342.54,"endTime":345.48,"body":"January. Like you missed day"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":345.48,"endTime":347.82,"body":"seven going to the gym, and then"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":345.48,"endTime":347.82,"body":"you're like, \"Well, the whole"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":347.82,"endTime":351.15,"body":"year is a waste. I'll just go"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":347.82,"endTime":351.15,"body":"ahead and quit my goal.\" That"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":351.15,"endTime":355.17,"body":"happens when you grade on a"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":351.15,"endTime":355.17,"body":"pass-fail. Now that's, that's"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":355.17,"endTime":358.65,"body":"probably a byproduct of a"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":355.17,"endTime":358.65,"body":"40-year relationship with"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":358.65,"endTime":362.25,"body":"perfectionism. I've been a"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":358.65,"endTime":362.25,"body":"perfectionist for a long time."},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":362.82,"endTime":367.2,"body":"It causes me to see my life as a"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":362.82,"endTime":367.2,"body":"balloon, as if a single mistake"},{"speaker":"summary","startTime":367.2,"endTime":372.81,"body":"could pop the whole thing.
