Speaker 1

Hello everybody, welcome to another episode of Music Elixir, with me Sarah and Miss Panic, miss Panic, panic, panic. So how's it going? Just an evil laugh, okay, well, you know, we just ended Halloween.

Speaker 2

Yes, we did, we're recording on November 2nd, which is also Dia de los Muertos, for those who celebrate. Of course, a lot of people in Mexico do. Oh my God, I have been seeing reels of I guess I don't know if it's just one city in particular, but they're doing like a costume Dia de los Muertos in English, day of the Dead, dia de los muertos, and it's in english day of the dead um, and it's just so elaborate and just beautiful and colorful.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, no, it always is. Whoa? I'm like, wow. So there's was like, I guess, one city they have a parade, but then there was another city that looks like they were having like a fashion show, because they were parading their you know costumes.

Speaker 1

Oh my god, some of those that I'm like, wow, yeah, I had my, my banner up, my dios de los muertos, yes, muertos. I have a, you know, one of those colorful paper cut banners, yes, hanging in my room, my office, I should say at work you know, might as well call it your room.

Speaker 2

I'm there so much right. Exactly Five days out of the week. You're there for like what more than eight hours.

Speaker 1

Yeah, and it's like it sucks.

Speaker 2

We don't want to call them like. We don't want to work your work, life being your home, because no.

Speaker 1

No, although it kind of is Like. I said I got that banner I got your home because no, no, although it kind of is like I said I got that banner, I got all my little tchotchkes, you know?

Speaker 2

yeah, I know I had to take down my halloween decorations before I went home and now my my cubicle is bare. One of my co-workers sent me a chat. It's like no, I look so bare. Now all your stuff is gone. It's like no, I'm not gone, it's just. It's just my decorations, but you know, we have thanksgiving coming up and also the holidays as well, so I'm just making room for the new decorations.

Speaker 1

Just don't start the christmas decorations before thanksgiving.

Speaker 2

Let me tell you my neighbor across, which I'm surprised that she has not started. But she said remember, first I'm starting. I'm like, okay, just give me time. It's it's dia de los muertos, so I gotta wait to take down the halloween stuff.

Speaker 1

Yeah well, I was gonna say, because you have halloween, all hallows eve, and then the next day is all saints day, yep, which is an extension of all hallows, and then day of the dead, so it's like a three-day celebration of spirits gone, but if, if you are like us, halloween does not end on the 31st every day is halloween oh my god.

Speaker 2

Well, now that you said that, should I?

Speaker 1

I don't know we can't play it.

Speaker 2

We can't play it, no no, I wanted to play it because I know some people do not know about this song. A lot of people who are not born in that era know about that song, but I'm speaking of this one. So the song that I'm thinking of that um was thinking I'm playing but you cannot hear is by the group ministry. You can find that on spotify and the name of the song is every day is halloween.

Speaker 1

Oh my god, this is such a bop all of their stuff was like everybody's, like ministry. They're so dark and I'm like they're electro pop.

Speaker 2

They were listen, they were exactly, they were poppy but then there was a transition thing. Yeah, then it just transitioned to a very industrial heavy. Yeah, like in the 80s. It's just like people are like, no, this is like their song. I'm like, come on, every day's halloween is not that heavy, is gothic pop, well, I think.

Speaker 1

I mean they had videos back in the 80s for like revenge they were. They were part of the mtv generation. Oh yeah, so you can't. Yeah, once you're on mtv in rotation heavily, yeah, you're not locked into one genre anymore.

Speaker 2

Yeah you know this song is over six minutes long. Oh my god really. But of course, when you're in the dance floor you don't care, because as soon that, as that beat drops, you're like, yes, my song is here and you're out there like hey.

Speaker 1

Gosh, these guys. They were still touring as of last year, so I mean they're still around making music and doing shows.

Speaker 2

Oh my God, can you believe this song is now being streaming? It only has over 8 million streams. Come on, well, so now you know, I'm putting it out there. Please, please, please, please, check ministry. Every day is halloween, so for your next halloween party you have to play this one.

Speaker 1

Well, I was gonna say, just based on the name of the song, every day is halloween party, you have to play this one. Well, I was gonna say, just based on the name of the song, every day is halloween, so you can play it whenever, it doesn't need to be just for your halloween party so yes, it's awesome, but um but yeah, we know they're not asian artists, but I know, but you know it, just I have to bring it up.

Speaker 2

I don't know, I just have to bring it up, there is I know that, like gary newman, influence right.

Speaker 1

Then the new age, I know, uh, not new age, new wave yeah, this is like mid 80s, I think.

Speaker 2

Hold on, let me make sure when oh, actually no, I because with with sympathy, that album came out in 83. I mean, mean they've been around. Okay, yeah, yeah, no, they've definitely been around for a long time, they're listening Long time Ministry is like one of those institutional groups for, like the industrial golf era.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah absolutely.

Speaker 2

And then from then on, they had other side projects, like might as well say the name Revolting Cox Look at you, you love, love it, but it's true, that's which they have this awesome song that I think you know about.

Speaker 1

I know, now we're just talking about songs that are not we're still swept up in the halloween, but you know yeah, no, come on.

Speaker 2

Uh, why? Why we're saying this is because you know I started to take down some of my halloween decorations, but then it's like no, wait a minute, we're in dia de los muertos, I don't have to rush it, because there's some people already in the states have transitioned from halloween to christmas yeah, I know they're totally glossing over thanksgiving, november 1st christmas I'm like yo, thanksgiving is not even here, which I wanted to start the tradition, just to start decorating for thanksgiving, because it's more like a family thing yeah but then family's like why do we need to wait for thanksgiving, can we do it a little earlier?

Speaker 2

and I'm like, okay, the weekend before thanksgiving, is that okay?

Speaker 1

they're like all right. Well, the stores already have all the christmas stuff out.

Speaker 2

This is the thing they had it before halloween yeah, it was already starting to be christmas.

Speaker 1

It was like, um, can I get the halloween candy?

Transitioning to Christmas Decorations

Speaker 2

right, so okay. So, that being said, because you know, family do work in retail, so so they're like can we start on november 1st? So they start sending me reels of people already decorating memes and stuff about like halloween's over christmas is here and I'm like, oh my god, I'm like really, really. So they're like looking at me like please, puppy, puppy, dog eyes. So I'm like listen, it's Dia de los Muertos, okay, so we'll transition to Christmas slowly.

Speaker 1

Maybe. Yeah, you can start pulling out the decorations and sorting them and organizing, right.

Speaker 2

I think the way that a little right I think this sunday will start, you know, winning on that, because they went ham on halloween yeah, all those decorations that that's all them, they're all them. So I gotta be like listen, I'm not gonna be taking down halloween stuff because you went all ham on it when I'm saying all ham being crazy overboard yeah exactly so.

Speaker 2

I'm not. I don't want to be stuck taking all this stuff down. You need to start as well. I'll help you some stuff, but not everything. Anyways, like I said, this song is like six minutes long, epic, oh it's ending. I think I can't believe we talked for that long talk about halloween.

Speaker 1

Oh my goodness we took six minutes just to talk through the song. Yeah, in the spirit of the song, right, no?

Speaker 2

oh, my goodness, so good, they're so good yes, I'm not gonna keep playing ministry, because now I feel like I want to keep playing more ministry. There was another song that I was thinking that I used to play. I used to dance to only the beginning until the mosh pit started, but I can't remember it right now, so I'm just gonna let it go like that. But please check out ministry. If you never heard of the group, like I said, they're on streaming services and uh, they are amazing, you know.

Speaker 2

Just give them a chance yeah, if you're a person that's like really cough, like what I'm like there's all there's yeah, there's so much more to it exactly if they're very. I like to do that with people. They're like oh, what is this? Then you just go ministry, what it's like? Yeah, this is like older ministry. They were not really this yeah, they weren't.

Speaker 1

They weren't the angry goths they were the influences of new wave, as you were saying, industrial pop. I mean they had it all sort of melded in there. I think everybody just took. You know, they wore all black, they had spiky hair, wore black eyeliner and lots of crosses and jewelry and stuff. You know they looked well, they looked a certain way, but the sound didn't always match up with the look, you know you were like oh, they're sort of right well this is the thing.

Speaker 2

This is like groups that start a certain way because it's popular on that time, but then they start changing and transitioning to something else until boom. All right, this is our sound, and that's how they become so popular. Also, now, that's why I'm saying this Trent Reznor Now we talked about Trent Reznor with One.

Speaker 1

Click Street.

Speaker 2

When the guys were talking about Trent. If you have not heard that episode, please check out the interview and also hear Sarah's stories and my story. Sarah's story on James Taylor, I have one on Trent, anyways.

Speaker 1

Which were two artists they mentioned in the interview. But he was in a very synth pop band before he went solo and started Nine Inch Nails, but I mean talk about pop, but you can even still hear that in Nine Inch Nails it's darker, but you can hear that syntho pop Think about closer. It's not the pop like the tinkly happy. Well, that syntho pop Think about closer.

Speaker 2

It's not the pop like the tinkly happy. Well, that's the pop that I'm thinking.

Speaker 1

But if you listen to the underlying way the music works, it's pop. He made it onto the top 40, so he's immediately popular music yeah.

Speaker 2

But I mean all the pop that he was in.

Speaker 1

It was like happy-go-lucky, yeah and for him.

Speaker 2

It's just like I guess doesn't this work? This doesn't work for me let me do a different route, just like ministry, you know. The puppet didn't work, so they just went to a different route so well.

Speaker 1

They were just riding on the wave of what was happening at the time yes the 80s was a very sort of transitional mix of so many things, you know, and everybody was just sort of like, even what? The Wham? Because they started out as Wham UK, yeah, and they had sort of a different sound and look with their earlier stuff and then they went full on like pop stars with Wake Me Up.

Speaker 2

Another thing with Wham. Unfortunately, there was a lot of like they lost money because, I guess because the contract that they had signed when they were teens oh, that happens to. You know so many artists so, um, I believe, or thinking, I don't know, I'm not sure why the other groups, like trent and also ministry, went from that poppy and they're like no, this is not for us, because you're gonna want to take our money and then change it completely.

Speaker 2

So that's all the you know possibility, all right, so so we were so that's a bit of I don't know 80s talk music on goth industrial just our usual ranting and rambling yes, so I was mentioning to sarah that this week mr g dragon just dropped his new song.

Speaker 2

Oh my goodness and I was saying I knew it was happening, I just haven't heard it yet yeah and oh, oh, my god, it already took one of jay cook's song off like the most stream in like a day. Oh, really, yeah. So they almost like, oh, it took a bts boy out. So I was like, wow, I yeah, I gotta find that article. And I was like, oh, ok, jungkook.

Speaker 1

Got bumped out of the number one. Oh yeah, male soloist. So, yes, is that what it bumped him I'm trying to like. What category would it be in?

Speaker 2

Yes, so we're going to play that song, all right, so then we can discuss it. Of course it's G-D-dragon. I don't expect nothing less from g-dragon. Love this man, please. It's like just come on. Second generation k-pop. It's like amazing they're like the best. This man is the best okay does it go along with his?

Speaker 1

like little old grandma, get ups. He's been wearing, though he's, you know, the tweed sweaters with the headscarves and the big glasses, everybody's been making fun of him about that. He's a fashion icon yeah, people are all like he's g-dragon he does what he wants. That's what it is why?

Speaker 2

because he's not, you know, like back in the day when he would be like half naked in his videos. Come on now he's just like just do whatever I want. I'm G-Dragon, do whatever I want. Yes, all right, so here we go. We're going to listen to G-Dragon's new song, power. Oh yeah, he got the power.

Speaker 1

I'm liking that bass and the drum there, yeah, legal legend.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I was just gonna say yep does this have a big?

Speaker 1

e next to it he doesn't give a.

Speaker 2

You know what? No, it doesn't really, mm-hmm. That's why he doesn't give an, mm. Ooh, shout out there to Beyonce.

Speaker 1

Yeah, actually, that drum is definitely the power.

Speaker 2

Yes, wow, he is the power. And louder he is there, I'm here. Welcome back GD. And louder he is there, I'm here. Welcome back GD, and yeah, welcome back GD.

Speaker 1

I like that and I don't give a shh Welcome back. Gd, so I guess that's not considered an explicit lyric anymore, although they still bleep it out on regular radio stations.

Speaker 2

Yeah, Well, this is you know.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

We're listening from spotify. Thank you, spotify, oh yeah having our our music galaxy podcast so it's different.

Speaker 1

But well, no, I mean, I know they wouldn't bleep it out, but usually they put an e. So that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2

I'm wondering if it's not a new. It's not as intense, I guess it's not the F-bomb.

Speaker 1

Yeah, they must be okay with it, I guess. Or as a Korean artist, because it's not a Korean explicit lyric, they don't label it the same way I don't know.

Speaker 2

Anyways, he is back, yeah.

Speaker 1

We are happy. Oh my God, oh yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 2

So of course you know whenever he does his tour I ain't going to get no tickets, because of course, for some reason, every time I try to get tickets it's just like especially for GD Unless he makes like weeks long of concerts. I don't know when we'll be able to get at least one ticket.

Speaker 1

I'm figuring he's probably going to do Vegas because he did that whole big thing. Going to talk to them, yeah, and this the sphere apparently is connected to madison square garden somehow, so really so he probably will come to new york. Nice, we can only hope, right, I mean?

Speaker 2

yeah, he's gonna.

Speaker 1

Of course he's going to new york not boston, but new york of course he's going to new york you know, and definitely probably la, but I just I have a feeling he's gonna, he's got something planned in vegas just because of all the time he spent there right, talking with people about stuff, right. Like I said, there's some sort of connection there, so maybe maybe all of the entertainment places connected together will he'll do a certain group of tours. So how do you feel about this song? I like it. Like I said, that drum, the bass drum, that's the power behind what he's talking about. Like that's really what's driving the song's really cool. It's not overly complex musically, it's all about what he's singing and saying and that driving force beating behind him. So that was really cool. I mean, that's just my, my first time take, only listening to it once. So I like that. And and I loved that line about the taking the name, the legal, the legal name what did he say exactly? Oh, I don't know, I forgot.

Speaker 1

But it was in reference to like that whole thing that happened where he got the rights to the name G-Dragon, because, after all, it's his name. He is so that little sort of like slip in there, jab at the industry saying, yep, you know, you couldn't take that away from me, I got the power, so I like it.

Speaker 2

I like it Comeback song, definitely power, it's about him. He is back. Some calcul, of course, like he always does, calculate things properly, puts it all in a song, puts on his lyrics, tells people what's going on. Oh, yes, definitely that drum it does is driving that song the boom, boom and it's a not a gritty bass, it's just a clean bass but it keeps you that punch and, of course, oh, I like that saxophone that just also drives the beat, just to get you also moving, because this, even though they have some other sounds in the background, but he just wants those beats to like drive you more, get more of your attention, yeah, and get you on the move also. Just the lyrics are just perfect and you know everybody's so happy and that he's back and of, oh, it's so refreshing to hear him because the way he sings like this is like on your face in a while.

Speaker 1

You know, on your face.

Speaker 2

On your face and I like that that he's still up there. Like I missed him. I missed that voice. I missed that voice. You know, oh, g3,. You know I've been your fan for so many years.

Speaker 1

That slightly nasally whiny. It's perfect, but it is, yeah, well, it's got, because it gives that attitude that he has. You know, yeah, it's less of a, I don't give a sh and more of a I don't give up, but exactly. But he's trying to be polite and nice, but yeah, it's just. I really I liked the way that the music just sort of drove it along, didn't overpower it, didn't. You know, it just kept him going on focus of what he was talking about.

Speaker 2

I got the power all right, so let's move on to the next song. What are?

Speaker 1

we gonna.

Speaker 2

Let's see actually we love rby. Now this is actually he's featured on this song by wonk. Uh, the name of the song is skyward skyward skyward.

Speaker 1

Okay, I missed the part.

Speaker 2

I'm like skyward. Sky ward, which is also just came out, actually two days ago. Oh, we're on the same time as g dragon, all right, so here we go. This is actually sung by wonk w-o-n-k featuring by name of the song, skyward.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, I liked the harmonizing there. What do you think that was crazy. I loved the harmonizing at the beginning, just those vocals, and then it's just like boom. It goes into that sort of funky I don't know. There was a lot of sort of freeform jazz going on in there. You had flutes, saxophones, trumpet I think was there at the end or that could have been a squeaky sax some people play it that way but I really liked that that. It was so smooth. It just sort of put you in the zone. Yeah, I was sort of like like with jazz. I was just chilling out listening to the music.

Speaker 2

Even when the, the vocals and the rap came in, it was started still just like wow I was blown away by this collaboration yeah, and I did not know about this song until I just saw that it came out new and I'm like, hey, by, okay, I like everything that by. We love everything that by does, yeah. So I'm like, hey, but who's this one? And definitely I don't know about wonk me, so anyways so it's like a four-person band or something that came out, I was like wow, so, you know, started with this mellow, you know very jazzy, like you were saying.

Speaker 2

I'm like okay, so this is gonna be like smooth jazz kind of like, or new jazz, which has been happening a lot. There's a lot of new jazz coming out with younger generations, which I'm very happy about that, giving a different sound, uh. But then of course, taking those classic elements of jazz, that's oh my god, his voice is so smooth. I was like, oh, I like this, I like this. And then just progressively starts getting a little bit faster and more depth into it and then when you can tell, when the hip hop kind of beat drops and you're like, wait a minute, I think this is when BY comes out.

Speaker 1

And there he is doing his rap.

Speaker 2

So classic of him it's. You know, each rapper has like a sound or way of delivery and then you can tell when it's by. I was like, yes, it's kind of like choppy at times, sometimes smooth and then intense sometimes and then back again to like, you know, it's all right. Just I don't know how to describe his rapping, but it's like so unique for me it's emotional yeah, he, he puts his whole being into it.

Speaker 2

It's, it's so, so awesome. And then, after he does his thing, then goes with wonk again and it's just a, it's just like this undulation going on and it's like it also makes you swing, ah, love. And then that just whole fusion at the end, At the end it's this crazy sax solo that you're like okay, we're going to have solos for each instrument, which is very classic of jazz, but no, it's just a sax and it just ends like that. That is a so well produced song love.

Speaker 1

Yeah, no, it was awesome. Like I said, it was just that fusion at the end, yeah, like all over the place, but it was cool. Yes, and it's so weird though, because like most of the song, you're sort of just sort of mellow and leaning back into the music, being like, yeah, bob in your head and then that happens, it sort of wakes you up. You're like, whoa, all right, we're at the end.

Speaker 2

Thank, you bam, yeah, awesome no, definitely a very good song. Please, I hadn't heard that one either.

Speaker 1

So right, yeah, so again, this is sort of my just very first impression. Trying to catch all of it, I definitely was hearing the sax and the flute, though throughout it that was really cool, very yeah, great great song.

Speaker 2

Please give them a chance so moving on, moving on to our next song, which it came out on october 28th. This is for kenty's solo new album that is coming out on Christmas. December 21st 25th, not 1st. 21st is probably the first day of no. When is the first day of winter? Is that February? When is winter Fall? Was in September December right, yeah. December 21st.

Speaker 1

Yeah, 21st or 22nd. Okay's usually around that that time because, um yeah, the longest day of winter is the 21st oh, here we go so, yes, and then it starts being or I mean, the longest, shortest day of the year. Okay, because it gets darker. Listen to me, the longest shortest, whatever Shortest, it's dark more of the day than it is light. And then, after that day, it starts getting lighter earlier.

Speaker 2

Okay, so all right, Kendi's new album December 25. Christmas.

Speaker 1

For Christmas.

Speaker 2

Yay, but he pre-gifted us, or everybody in the world. Look at me. Us, of course, because he's my son, my son Kenty. He's got a favor with me, come on.

Speaker 1

Did you say his full name for people who don't know who you're talking about?

Speaker 2

See, this is the mom talking.

Speaker 1

See, his real name is Kento.

Speaker 2

Nakajima name for people who don't know who you're talking about. See, this is the mom talking.

Speaker 1

See, his real name is kento nakajima, but, of course, dearly people who know him call on kenty I do, I know well, I was like you keep saying kenty, but people who don't know who he is, they're gonna be like looking up kenty and not finding what they want.

Speaker 2

I know they probably find the wrong person, yeah, but come on, I think there's going to be Kenty next to Kento Nakajima, I think.

Speaker 1

Oh, I'm sure, but take the guesswork out for them, all right.

Speaker 2

Full name, kento Nakajima, has a new solo album, has his first solo album, yes, on December 25th. Sorry, son, I'm just very excited about this. The fans are like I hope he listens to you talking about him and also the article that you wrote about his song. I'm like, yes, I hope so too.

Speaker 1

So he just actually dropped a, released a single from that album I can't even talk I'm like she's so excited, she can't I am.

Speaker 2

He dropped it on october 28th in the name of this song? I want to make sure, because it's either those in katakana, picaresque, picaresque, I know, oh, picturesque, yes, all right, but I'm going by the katakana. So, hey, I'm really the katakana. So picturesque, picturesque, yeah, okay. So, um, it's all him.

Musical Creativity and Genre Fusion

Speaker 1

Oh, it's just him, it's, it's all him. Well, because the other thing was the, the joint, uh, gem, right, that was a separate project as well. This is like his album.

Speaker 2

He wrote it. He also, um did he compose some of the music as well? He of course performed it, of course, and is written by him. So yay, wow, yes totally hands-on I know. I'm so happy for him. That's awesome. He's been wanting to do stuff like this. Yeah, oh yeah like it. Come on, he's a creator, he's an artist. He's an artist. You know like pisces, you know very creative, artistic yes so of course I'm so proud of star children.

Speaker 1

We have our heads in the clouds everything's romantic and wonderful, even if it's not really romantic and wonderful.

Speaker 2

We just plus, you know he has some some songs that he actually wrote, very romantic, and but not this one, of course. I heard it already because it's my son. I got to hear it right away when it dropped, so I already heard the song, but I don't know if Sarah has. Have you no, all right, so this will be Sarah's first. This will be my. I lost count.

Speaker 1

So here we go, one thousandth.

Speaker 2

I'm going play, right now I can't heavily streaming this. Probably some of these numbers in the thousands is me he's gonna chart because of you alone, of course. Of course. It's my son. I gotta support him 100%, if not 200%, all right, so I'm gonna be playing right now Kento Nakajima's picaresque wow, yes, oh my god, like that was so many genres of music at once, right, I'm what just happened. Can't it just happen? Wow, can't it just happen.

Speaker 1

Well, I mean there was like the techno pop, and then partway through he's got like almost a concerto going on. All the different sounds in the background, like the phone ringing, the sirens going, the computer glitching, the like. It was picturesque because there was so much, so much to it. There was so many sounds and emotions happening. That was crazy, crazy, yes, insane. And he wrote that wow, oh my god yes right, that was I.

Speaker 1

I'm gonna have to hear it again. Right, because the beginning was was another sort of jazz fusion sounding thing and then it became all electronic techno in the and, like I said, that weird moz Mozart concerto in the middle where he got all smooth and like yeah, oh, wow, and using his voice the way he did too, that was just insane.

Speaker 2

Yeah, he went from like melodic to like rap, to melodic again, to almost operatic, to then like rock and again more rap, hip-hop and I'm like, wow, kenty throwing everything and the kitchen sink into that picturesque.

Speaker 1

It's giving you so many beautiful things to envision, listen to. Yeah, wow that?

Speaker 2

yeah, definitely a lot of different genres in there. You, you got the heavy like pop, then you have the dance like techno, electro yeah it's like intense, but oh my god, yeah, the orchestra kind of like sound like what kenty, what happened? Which it sounded like he was in despair. Yeah, I'm like, oh geez, like I don't know what to do. You know, like it was like that moment Like oh my God, I don't know what, because he says Kami Sama, which is my God.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

And I'm like he's probably saying oh my God, I don't know what to do. I was like geez. Oh my God, it's like all over the place. Well, it's like all over the place, but in an order I don't know.

Speaker 1

Well, it moved together, it flowed, but it was definitely a dozen different emotions happening all in one kentie's emotions. How long is it like three and a half minutes on actually this song is three minutes in one second oh, okay.

Speaker 2

Well, he threw a lot into that three minutes in one second wow, which right now, as of like a set, november 2nd, dia de los muertos, streaming at 86,098. Not bad, and it dropped on october 28th. Yes, wow, that was just yes.

Speaker 1

Kenti Good job. Yes, Kenti, Good job. Kenti. My Kenti Can't wait for the rest of the album Right. Like right, like wow. I have a feeling he's sort of going to test the waters with several different sounds. That's my guess. He's going to do a whole range of musical genres for us.

Speaker 2

He's going to do a whole range of musical genres for us. My opinion is that he had so many ideas when he was with the group that he couldn't, of course, pursue or execute.

Speaker 1

Right.

Speaker 2

Because you know. So he's just like you know. I got all this creativity pent up. I'm going to put it down and I'm going to put my passion in there. And it's like you know what? Because it's me, it's me, Kenty, Everybody's Kenty. These bros be like this crazy lady Kento, I mean Nakajima-san, or should I say Kun, I don't know. Like I said, I'm like could be your mom, I am your mom. Well, you could call him Chan.

Speaker 2

Right, can't be Chan. Oh my God. Now you say Chan, I'm going to be doing that. He's going to be like no, but you know what? No, he probably does like it, and probably laughing, which?

Speaker 1

is good. That's what I want him to.

Speaker 2

So I can't wait I can't wait.

Speaker 1

Yeah, the name of the album is n bias or non-bias, so whoa, which I'm like. Yay, well, that's definitely. That song was definitely a load of pent-up creativity all right, exploding out at once, right so I'm like, wow, so talk about an explosive comeback.

Speaker 2

Definitely we love that.

Speaker 1

Yes.

Speaker 2

You know. So can't wait. Of course the song Rosso is going to be in there too, because he also wrote that one, which it was in another album but with Sexy Zone. But of course he's like it's my song, I'm taking it, which, yeah, why not? He wrote it, he created that one and that one's you know, yeah, kenty, no bad, well, not bad, but jeez, boy, calm down anyways, let's move on expressing himself.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I gotta move on to the next one, because I can go off on my but on my son. I can continue to talk about my lovely boy. Okay, let's see. Is there a song, new one that you would like to talk about, or you just want me to pick?

Speaker 1

Go ahead and just pick. I mean, I was listening to a few different things. I know Rampage came out with a new one, eenie came out with a new one, Seventeen came out, you know I mean. So there's plenty to choose from. You know, it doesn't have to be just from this week. New come out, new, new come out. What the hell? New releases Okay, I was trying to say two different things at once Comebacks and, ah, rollouts Releases. So different things at one comebacks and rollout releases.

Speaker 2

So let's see if any other groups had come out with something you know, any comebacks from the girl groups on the the rotation that I had happening.

Speaker 1

I know that uh espy was on there, illit was on there, uh xg was on there, so I don't know if any of them actually have brand new stuff. Right, of course, last week rose from black pink had come out with one with bruno mars. Yeah, don't want to talk about that one no, no, I'm just, I'm saying I'm throwing okay you asked for.

Speaker 1

He said female artists. Let's see if there's any. So I don't know that the first three groups that I named, if they actually had a new song or if it was just. You know, once you let the release thing play long enough, it just starts picking random stuff. So I was like is this actually the new?

Speaker 2

radar or not. You know one thing that happened with my release radar. I had a song in there to play by miss puja and then all of a sudden I couldn't play it like it was taken out, oh, by spotify, oh, that's.

Speaker 1

I was like what happened it could have been that it wasn't supposed to be released yet. That's just weird.

Speaker 2

I just saw another one by, uh, another artist that it was supposedly released and then that was blacked out huh uh what happened there?

Musical Reactions and Analysis

Speaker 1

or are they region restricted? Well, hello, spotify did that, but they just messed up, probably they they messed up.

Speaker 2

They're like oops, no, you're not supposed to listen to it, and I'm like I'm listening to it. It's a bop. And now you're taking it away from me. I love this pu she's awesome.

Speaker 1

Well, maybe they hadn't done all the promotions yet, so they were like why are you putting the song out there? We haven't even.

Speaker 2

you know hard to say Unless, I don't know, spotify didn't pay enough money and they're like nope.

Speaker 1

Take it back.

Speaker 2

Isn't Baby Monster dropping something? Um, I don't know.

Speaker 1

All right, so let's do baby monster song drip, which I have not here, not not listened to it yet I think I did hear it because, you know, in my quick glance over to see what was playing while I was driving, the title was in bold letters, so I think I may have heard it. I have not listened to it extensively so we'll still have our.

Speaker 2

All right, of course, maybe a monster they just, you know, want to give, that is, they want to be the hip hop, I guess, from X, from YG. So let's, let's listen to this one, because we have listened to previous one, but this one called Drip.

Speaker 1

You know, we know.

Speaker 2

Drip is fashion as well. Let's go so.

Speaker 1

Babymonster's Drip. Okay, wow, exactly, that's got the hip hop, the R&B, the house and that voice, who I don't know, who held that note, I know, and went into a crescendo, but holy yeah holy, wow, it's just.

Speaker 2

This is the diva that's the diva of the group. It can hide, you know, pull the high note, yeah, and just keep it there.

Speaker 1

Wow, that was, that was explosive it definitely was, and that beat that bass boom. This was fat bass.

Speaker 2

This is fat, fat bass. Oh my, this is a very classic yg production because I have heard this production on the very popular girl groups. We're talking from 21 and also be um Blackpink, so of course it's a YG, you know, group and I can hear that production in there, very, very YG. But, oh, my goodness, you got drip. You know this is about fashion. You know, you're looking good, I'm looking good, we're looking good, you know.

Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, I was going to say right in that very first line. They said something about the look and it got that drip. Exactly. But, it's like I think it also sort of is about like that stunning fashion, but also that attitude and that that presence like my fashion's.

Speaker 2

On point, but so am I, yeah, wow you know, when you wear a garment, you know you give it an attitude. You know so definitely. So, depending on what you're wearing, you're giving that attitude as well. So also just to let you guess who is in the writing credits who G-Dragon?

Speaker 1

Oh my God, that's crazy.

Speaker 2

So he also has a piece of that pie. Awesome, that explains a little too, oh yeah, there's like eight people writing for this song, just this song.

Speaker 1

We have a few like that we have.

Speaker 2

Airplay Choice 37, g-dragon. We have a few like that. We have Airplay Choice 37, g-dragon. I think it's Ilju Mastawu, sandra Wilkstrom, sonny, which I have seen him before, and then YG is also in there.

Speaker 1

Oh, wow.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, yeah, awesome Whoa.

Speaker 1

That was another one, though that they sort of went a few different musical genre ways. You're like oh it's all, oh wait, it just changed, and you're getting into this beat, and oh, it just changed.

Speaker 2

So yeah, that was really cool seeing that lately a lot on the writing ways different genres are composing one song but it just blends together. You just gotta know how to blend it.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I was gonna say that's, that's the production, that's whoever's exactly producing and putting it all together, but wow produced by airplay.

Speaker 2

Il iljit, like I said, or iljoon and yg. Okay, but not not g dragon, g dragon people in the writing writing credits. They're writing, so some of the know whatever the girls are saying. He was there. Well, he's got some drip. Oh, he always, always fashion icon. He's a fashion icon, come on.

Speaker 1

So wow yeah.

Speaker 2

This is just from their, from their latest album yes and Sarah's laughing.

Speaker 1

Well, no, it's because we both went. Wow, yeah, Because we share a brain. People should know that when it, especially when it comes to music, yeah, but so that was.

Speaker 2

I liked that holy moly yes, you good girls, let's see. Yes, you go, girls, let's see, wow nine songs for this album awesome, awesome.

Speaker 2

So a full ep, wow, it's a full album. Excellent, because everybody's been doing minis. Yeah, they're doing either singles or eps, you know, and and it's like, yeah, mini albums, so definitely we have something that, uh, we can listen to. You know, there's more than that. Well then, you know, it took a while for them to drop anything, so maybe that's why they were trying to get this going on.

Speaker 2

All right, so let's see what else am I going to look for. Let's do one more. Oh, oh, oh. Okay, why, there was one song I want you to listen that I was like I think Sarah will like this and I don't think we have heard. We probably did talk about this group, okay, j-o-1. Oh, okay, we probably have, but we haven't heard. I'll talk about this song, so we're going to talk about j-o-1's. I see that's from their album. Where do we go? Okay, where do you go? So this is new. This is new and my stomach is like hello, I'm hungry. It's already letting people know, gonna have to wait I know okay, so we're going to talk about j-o-1's.

Speaker 2

I see I see smooth. This song is not to be played in a car. This song has to be played through headphones to really, really experience the production of this songer ellie love, glenn choy, hey, chi okham and y minsu new for me, but omg, okay, wow, don't know who produced it, but all those people that I just mentioned, they just wrote this song.

Speaker 2

So, yeah, my, my, like I said I I wouldn't play this in the car this is definitely a song that you need to listen through headphones, just because of the undulation and and some sounds and the background that it just incorporates with the vocals of the group and, oh my god, it's just yeah I was in a trance, I don't know what else to do. It's just like. This is very trans, like you know it was.

Speaker 1

It was very um. Yeah, I don't know. This is you'd be out on a dance floor and just you're you're lost in it, you'd be on autopilot just moving, because the sound is going in and taking over your body right I loved that, uh, when someone was like holding the icy and then it got all electronic and yeah, warped and like whoa, what's going on.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Whoever's voice that was, that was impressive. Yeah, another impressive sound coming from someone, because it was so clear and held so perfectly.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 1

But all those beats in the background. I mean it was like for something that was so rapid fire sound-wise. It was very entrancing. Yeah, I did, I totally I black thing that was so rapid fire.

Speaker 2

Sound wise, it was very entrancing. Yeah, I, I did, I totally I blacked out, I think. Yeah, this is, I see, is a very uh. It gives you chills too, because of the sounds, the way that they produce the song. Wow, kudos to the producer. I don't know who it is. It's not on the credits and on Spotify. Oh, really, jeez, that was pretty orgasmic. Yeah, it was intense, the sound.

Speaker 1

Oh my.

Speaker 2

God, the vocal production as well. Very good, definitely blended very well with the music Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, yeah, this is, this is one that you just want to go. Wow, yes definitely.

Speaker 1

It just sort of it's a sneak attack. It just you're like, yeah, you start playing it and then all of a sudden you're just, you're trapped. You're like, whoa, all right yeah just go with it.

Speaker 2

Just go with it yeah, I like the whole, like the whole. I, I, I see and it's like, oh yes, okay, it is icy it's icy, but also like I see uh-huh like they're watching you I see you and it's icy, we're cool, we're smooth well, there wasn't one part that is like good and bad, the way that I forgot the, I forgot the lyric, but it was like like you like this, but then also it's not good, I don't know, it's something like that.

Speaker 2

It's like, yeah, I'm like this is so good, it's bad yeah like I said I, I was just like there's so much, it's not. You have to listen to it again so we can really make our opinion. But my real opinion, just from listening to it, at least for me, it's like wow, you need headphones yeah, oh, absolutely to experience the fullness of the song.

Speaker 1

Oh my god well it was, yeah, it was definitely carrying me along. I was just sort of, yeah, in a, in a place. It was when that icy and it just was drawn out and I was like what's happening? Like that was my moment of clarity. Yeah, I was like, oh, I'm hearing, okay. And then it went back into all the the beats and everything I was like whoa okay, they give you that reprieve.

Speaker 2

You have a moment to come out of it and this is the one where the vocals this like showcase differently but not showcasing to be like. I am the vocals you know because sometimes you hear one of the vocalists like wow, you can really hear so. And so's like wow, this is like everybody on the same level, but with a different sound. Whoa, they're just like. What was that?

Speaker 2

oh my god well yes, I'm frozen icy frozen, because I'm listening to this I'm like, oh my god, what's going on? What chills and the chills, oh my god. Yeah, definitely the delivery for icy.

Speaker 1

It was there oh yeah, absolutely, that'll be on. The throw that into the rotation, my goodness, and it's not even like the lead song off the the little. No, it's not mini, no p or no, because it's not a full, it's only what six songs I believe so on the album go in there, yeah, six songs, but wow, thank you guys, jeez kudos, that I know.

Speaker 1

That was thoroughly enjoyable. Yeah, I think I again I blacked out, so it's, it's yeah, it's the third most dream song song. I think I enjoyed it because it's totally, totally gone. I was immersed in the sound.

Speaker 2

Blackout song. Is it a?

Speaker 1

blackout? Yeah, I think it is. Right, Because I was. I was like what.

Speaker 2

What happened? Did I just hear something? Was there music in my ears? Was that a song? What was that? Jeez? Definitely why you need headphones. That's why you need headphones, because it does, it just surrounds you.

Speaker 1

You're like whoa yes, headphones 100.

Speaker 2

All right, I'm gonna end it like that, my friend, because um yeah, that song just like took everything out of me.

Speaker 1
