Speaker 1

Welcome everybody to another episode of Music Elixir with me, sarah and Ms.

Speaker 2

DJ.

Speaker 1

Panic. Now it's Ms DJ Panic, not just DJ Panic, not Ms Panic, ms DJ Panic.

Speaker 2

Ms DJ Panic. All right, I don't know. With me it's different. I gotta keep everybody on their toes, make sure they're listening.

Speaker 1

See, like you oh my goodness, silliness abounds. We were untangling wires and, yeah, trying to get ourselves organized, so we're already in a silly mood. Yeah, did you have caffeine? Yes, I did, but that was a few hours ago, so we're already in a silly mood.

Speaker 2

Yes, did you have caffeine? Yes, I did. Okay, but that was a few hours ago. Oh yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1

Okay, me too. Bright and early.

Speaker 2

Start my day. So when Sarah arrived, I was telling her that I'd been watching this Japanese drama called Asura A-S-U-R-A Asura and it's based. It's based on four sisters, so I gave a bit of the premise to Sarah. Quick rundown yeah, synopsis. And I was like you guys need to watch it. It's awesome, it's on netflix and uh, I know, I know I like keep saying you're on netflix, you know they're not paying me, but you know, one day maybe they'll pay me but I came upon it and I'm like they're like, oh, something that you might like.

Speaker 2

And I'm like, okay, let's see, because sometimes they put something that you're like, nah, this is not for me. But this one I was like oh yeah, this is for me. So just to give everybody a little bit of a rundown, it's these four sisters. Now the second youngest had a suspicion about their dad cheating on their mom, so she got him investigated. So that's the whole thing started there, because, also this, each sister have their own little thing going on.

Speaker 2

now, little backstory going, yeah, yeah but uh, second youngest sister, she is very straight edge. You know like, oh my god, cheating is bad and it's having sex before marriage is bad. You know they're very, yeah, straight age. You know she doesn't like to go off the custom or like anyway, that's just just to start you there. So you please check it out if you have the time. It's a good if you have a whole weekend that you just want to stay home, that will be one to watch like a snowy weekend where you have to stay in anyways, right, yeah?

Speaker 2

exactly like in your england, then when you have like uh, cabin fever, it's like you can't get out because it's so cold or this is just bad weather, which we had yesterday and um, so it's like, yeah, let me just see what's going on. And that was one of them. That's a good one, excellent. I also saw the the fluffy special. Uh, gabrielle iglesias comedian mexican comedian. I love him. I've been following him for like maybe 10 years now oh, okay yeah, he's been his.

Speaker 2

So he did a special and it was for his 27th anniversary as being in comedy. Wow, 27 years.

Speaker 1

I was like, wow, that's crazy I'm pretty sure I have heard of heard of him, but and I've probably seen little bits and pieces, but not, you know, like watching a whole thing. I love his comedy love his comedy, so that's another thing on on netflix?

Speaker 2

yeah, you can find him on netflix, but um, let's date stamp this. Today is january 12th. We're gonna talk about some new releases that came out on the week right.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you know the friday they drop a bunch of new stuff. Some of it's not necessarily new, though I've noticed. I'm like what is this? You know they someone put out a best of album, so they throw some of the music on there. You're like, okay, so it's not really new, but it's just been released or re-released, so one that is left and is from starto, which we did actually review their debut tour.

Speaker 2

Yes, we did. It's a group, so we're going to listen and talk about a group's hello, all right. Uh, it's for their actually coming album called dna. Cool, yeah, so that's, this will be our first one of the year.

Speaker 1

All right, starting with a group's hello, here we go starting with a little light acoustic guitar and then, wow, full-on. Uh, strings, orchestra sound here, but it's got the little driving beat behind it there is a video for this, which I have not seen yet.

Speaker 2

Okay, but we just wanted to listen to the song before looking at it. Always a good idea.

Speaker 1

So it's picked up some good harmony there. It's an interesting blending of the like drive and rock and roll and the symphony going on it's very drama like yeah a song, that it's a comeback, that is not for a drama.

Speaker 2

And what's with the? Maybe they will, hopefully, because that's what it's gearing for. Voice harmonies are on point. Yeah, I like that. Who arranged this? I will, I don't know, because it sounds very same-ish.

Speaker 1

The voices are amazing so the song's called Hello, but they were saying sayonara to something. Yeah, there's some odd sounds going on in the background. Yeah, they're like clicking sounds. Yeah, and there was something that sounded like snow tumbling off the rooftop, you know when stuff starts melting and it rumbles down. I heard that earlier, but now there's, yeah, like someone's playing with dominoes or something.

Speaker 1

That's a it's a very weird like a clattering sound like it should not be in the song well, I guess I'm only catching sort of words here and there, so I don't know what they're talking about. So it could have something to do with the song. I mean, they've got a really good energy going, yeah, and definitely has that drama, epic sound to it, right, drama, anime. And then it ends with that same acoustic guitar, gently, or I'm assuming this is the end of the song? Yeah, because it's winding down it winds down.

Speaker 2

Well, their voices, wow are amazing boys did an amazing job vocalizing that arrangement. Who composed the music? Uh, it sounds very similar to other stardust songs. I was hoping something different. As for a music arrangement. The boys that were on point. The boys did what they needed to do for the arrangement. My only pet peeve is like, as a comeback, I wish it could have been more of a band that the boys composed and actually wrote as a band that they are the explosive.

Speaker 1

You wanted the explosive comeback.

Speaker 2

I wanted that rock and roll kansai yeah this just sounded like your run-of-the-mill drama music that I'm not criticizing the boys here, I'm criticizing the composed music. Gotcha that, it was just similar. I wish they could have done different for the boys this I'm sure when the album drops there's gonna be a b-side.

Speaker 2

Then I'm gonna be like, yes, this should have been the comeback, not that hello which is most of the time happens. You know, I want it to be positive. This is the positive side of me. The boys did amazing. This is that's what I wanted to hear. Oh my god, those they were really hitting them.

Speaker 1

Notes yeah, I was gonna say the yes. Those harmonies and those high notes which just, yeah, blow your mind, oh, yeah, love love, love the boys, love the boys, love the boys.

Speaker 2

Whoever composed the music, that was not the musical choice I would have gone for.

Speaker 1

Well, no, I was thinking because we saw their live performance, which, of course, is always different. There's always a much higher energy when you're talking about something live and performance, like energy when you're talking about something live and performance. So sort of my full introduction to them was this live show, right? So when you, yeah, when you listen to pre-recorded stuff, you know I didn't have any of their albums or anything, so, yeah, you sort of notice the difference, but we'll see, because they got a whole whole new album coming right.

Speaker 2

Yeah there's an album coming out in february I will tell you exactly the date uh, the drop cd. You can see this actual uh video on their youtube channel. Cool, their cd is actually coming out on february 18th. They'll come up next month. So yeah, let's see. Of course, we won't be able to listen to the city unless somebody is able to send this to us, because, of course, a group is not on streaming platforms. Right, anyways, with that being said, kudos to the guys. They did an amazing job with their vocals.

Speaker 2

Their vocals were on point. They were amazing. Whoever got that music? I don't know, it was dated. I'm sorry. No, I'm not sorry it was dated. I was hoping something more explosive for the guys. I don't sorry it was dated. I was hoping on something more explosive for the guys.

Speaker 1

I don't know DJ Panic's brutal honesty.

Speaker 2

It's like why are you playing dirty to the boys? I hate that. Anyways, you know this is the international thought of mine here. I'm sure in Japan it's's different, because you know I don't see these boys coming out of japan anytime soon well, it depends, in my opinion.

Speaker 1

Well, they need some time to build up their you know, fan base and repertoire so that they can start performing they're playing dirty on my kansai boys.

Speaker 2

so yeah, anyways, let's see what other song we should talk about. Good question, what else came playing dirty on my Kansai boys? So yeah, anyways, let's see what other song we should talk about.

Speaker 1

Good question. What else came out on the release radar? How about?

Speaker 2

A Witch. She actually dropped this on January 5th. Sure, it's been a while since she dropped something. So this is just a single. So here we go A Witch Frontiers. So this is just a single um.

Speaker 1

so here we go a witch frontiers it's a very haunting beginning when you have a chanting.

Speaker 2

Wow, you know, sometimes people drag the chanting and whatever.

Speaker 1

Yeah, just went right through it, oh my god like dropped, and then it's got a very Carmina Burana. Oh God, she gives me chills I love her and actually so they did pick up the chanting again, but it works very well. In the background Right there's somebody in the background going. Yeah, it is very like this is another sort of epic classical music inspiration in the background, but all this like super techno going on God she's in your face with this Very raw. Show me what you want to be right.

Speaker 2

Yeah, we're the frontiers. Oh that silence.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Like let me tell you you right, and it's like yo yo, yes, this would be impressive live. Oh my God, Look at this rap right here, this rap, rap. This is just so fast, queendom, yeah, if you don't shut it up, then it's rhythm.

Speaker 1

Show me rhythm. What you want to be, yeah, oh, yeah, this year. What you want to be? Oh, listen to this. The crescendo, that whole build up.

Speaker 2

What.

Speaker 1

Yo, listen to this, the crescendo, that whole build up. What Yo, that ending, what Everything, yes, stops in just her, and it's just her acapella, just like oh my God. Wow, yes girl Woman.

Speaker 2

What that was awesome.

Speaker 1

She. It was so like Like I said, it made me think of Carmina Biorana. You know, Bomp, bump, bump.

Speaker 2

It was so intense. Yes, queen, come on. Awesome Definitely, queendom, definitely.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Oh my God, yes, love, I got chills in some parts. I'm like what?

Speaker 1

Yeah, no, that was definitely intense.

Speaker 2

Wow.

Speaker 1

It's something you could play at work. Everybody be like what's going on in that office.

Speaker 2

Don't come into this room. You're going to get my wrath, definitely.

Speaker 1

It's like keep away oh my god, that was amazing, wow oh love jeez.

Speaker 2

Yes, yes, yes. No ballady bs I know right. Starting the new year right yes, she's like oh, in your face, I know. Hopefully she's working on an album and of course she. She wrote and composed as well this song with somebody else. Um, shaki zulu, shaki zulu. Yeah, oh, my goodness, wow, lover, yes that was yes, yes, definitely okay what am I gonna find? Now too, I know right.

Speaker 1

What do we follow that up with right?

Speaker 2

oh man, okay, let's see. All right. So we're gonna be listening to 20th century lady, lady.

Speaker 1

Uh, if you don't know, 20th century's part of startle yeah, they're the older members of v6, so v6 used to be three older guys, three younger guys. They're sort of all over the place now because miyaki, kenla I mean all all the younger guys left already yeah, they were like so we're gonna talk to the.

Speaker 2

I'll talk about the senpais, correct? All right, so here we go.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, it's got a good like funky disco beat going on oh yeah yeah, I like the build-up of this song. They're sounding like the younger guys here, right oh the dreamy part.

Speaker 2

Oh, it's all the echo right yeah and his voice, voice, oh my god hey I like this lady, lady, lady here we go.

Speaker 1

Okay, I like this chorus lady, lady, listen to that guitar right oh, there's somebody out there going off. Oh, I like this, this guitarist yeah, geez, it's definitely got his groove going on yeah, oh yeah, oh, here goes the guitarist oh yeah, going off what, and it's a basic guitar.

Speaker 2

It's not screechy, though, yeah no it's, definitely it's dude like oh, oh yeah, sexy, wow, oh, my god, I love the voice got some dreamy vocals going on there lady, lady, lady. Oh yes, definitely grooving to this song, definitely something about the moonlight.

Speaker 1

I'll be with you I'll be with you, sis, I'll be with you, okay, yeah, oh, wow, love, yeah yeah, well, I'm wondering because, although they're still like sort of active, they're listed actively on the starto, like the last couple of things they did were early 2024, and I don't know if this was one of them. Okay, okay, but it's awesome. Oh my god, yeah, it's so good yes, well, and again, you know that's the older guys from v6.

Speaker 2

I'm all for that. Yes, yes and yes. Are they all married Probably Well in my head they're not. Wow, love, geez, oh, my God, lady, lady, yes, yes, I'm here for you, absolutely. We'll love to see this live.

Speaker 1

I know I wonder what they, how they uh performed it. Oh yes, that's crazy.

Speaker 2

Oh my god, loving that.

Speaker 1

Wow, thank you, senpai, that was awesome I know right well, we're so used to just the like v6 the group. Yeah, you know that and I think I probably never would have really realized the different subunits anyways, because you know I liked all of their group stuff right honey beat yes honey beat. That was awesome yes, they had one. Oh, oh, my god, I can't remember now, but it all was very latin, suave and sexy sounding song. Oh God, I don't even remember how long ago. That was oh damn.

Speaker 2

Okay.

Speaker 1

It was a while ago, okay.

Speaker 2

So do you have another song that you might want to listen and talk about? Well, there were just so many. There were a lot that came out like late december but they kind of ballady too yeah, there's a lot of slower stuff.

Speaker 1

The new release radar was all about.

Speaker 2

You know the feeling smooth and slow, and it's not even valentine's day yet.

Speaker 1

I know right, you'd think new year people would be like kabow, but I didn't hear a whole lot of you know right up tempo stuff yeah and it's not that we have to do up tempo, but I'm just trying to see what else, what else could we find?

Speaker 2

all right, let's get a rocking song like rock rock, so bloody wood and baby metal did a collaboration, and then what? The song is a big half. So or Beghaf, Okay.

Speaker 2

Let's, you know, hopefully I'm saying that correct, but it's spelled B-E-K-H-A-U-F, so you know both groups are just rocking. So let's see this out. And when this song came out, let me see, I want to say probably like late in December, december, yeah, actually, no, it was on december 6th, oh early, and I just saw that. All right, so let's play that one out and then, uh, we're gonna take a break because miss, miss sarah over here is tummy rumbling snacky time yes, soon.

Speaker 2

All right, so here we go bloody wood and, uh, baby metal whoa, oh wow, a drummer. I know that's insane yes, oh my god listen to that I know, geez, yeah, I'm all metal. What happened? I don't know. Here we go, the contrast between the vocals yes, because you got Bloody Wood being like I know, with her voice that is so like this rocket, I don't know Rocket, angelic voice.

Speaker 1

I don't know yeah.

Speaker 2

Damn.

Speaker 1

Yeah, oh, wow, that's an interesting transition, I know.

Speaker 2

The girls doing this like electronic voice. God, this is awesome. I like it. Yes, oh my.

Speaker 1

God, wow, that drummer is sick, that drummer, I give him kudos, jeez.

Speaker 2

Yeah, oh, this is when you mush, getting that circle, jesus, yeah bake off.

Speaker 1

It's like back off yeah that's right.

Speaker 2

So, even though it's back off, it's like it's totally what this song sounds like too. It's like you're yeah, oh, wow oh my god that ending.

Speaker 1

Oh my god, that was like just headbanging energy the whole way through. Yes, holy moly, that was wild.

Speaker 2

That was awesome. Oh my God, another one that got me chills. Everybody's vocals were on point. They were just like, ah, so raw, and like in your face you have the Indian, the Hindi, then the English, and then you got the girls singing Japanese and it's like wow, what a mish. Talk about bilingual, let's try trilingual. Going on in there. It's like wow, what a mish. What talk about bilingual? Let's try trilingual. Going on in there.

Speaker 1

It's like wow love and the, but the two like the totally raw metal sound versus this sort of more industrialized, like metal sound. Yeah, that's just crazy, because those guys they're just animal on. You know what I mean? Yes, and then the girls like, right, we're metal. Hey, hey, hey but they brought it too? Oh yeah, they were. No, it was level two.

Speaker 2

Like it was an awesome mix.

Speaker 1

Yes blending of the two types of sound. Holy moly, yeah, it's wow. The minute it started I was like blown away, right, whoa. Well, it was just this wall of sound. Yeah, boom, boom. Oh, my god, that was awesome. Highly recommend. Yes, if you're feeling a little like you know you need to burn off some energy Exactly, put that on If you need to get your angst.

Speaker 2

Exactly, get some angst out of your system. Check this out, please, you know, listen to it, scream it out loud. Oh, and guess what? They're touring Japan. Oh, really, maybe that's why they did this. Yes, may 6th, 7th and 8th they're going to be in Japan.

Speaker 1

Bloody Wood is.

Speaker 2

Bloody Wood. Yeah, okay, they're going to Osaka, nagoya and Tokyo. Oh, all right, nice, nice, nice. Are they coming to the us? This is one that we should actually see them. They're going to europe and england. I don't know if there's any us tour yet, but I think they did a while ago. But uh, oh, my goodness yes, that was just.

Speaker 2

Oh, man, I just want to go, I just want to go to japan just to see if the, if the girls are going to be singing this song with the guys. Just to see if they do that, you know. Wow, because that will be amazing, amazing. I don't think I see anything like that. I'm in their global site oh, to see what they're. Yeah, see what they're up to yeah no, they have a documentary called raj against the machine.

Speaker 1

That sounds awesome which is the journey of bloody wood, which is that's cool that's awesome. Yeah, it looks like they're only gonna be like denmark, norway, sweden, germany, belgium austria switzerland, france, they'll be in france. That's insane though.

Speaker 2

Wow, oh my god. I heard some things about france and I'm like do I really want to go to france? From people that have gone to france, I'm like I still want to just go see the touristy parts.

Speaker 1

You know, oh, they will be in. Oh, they're gonna be at the o2 forum in london.

Speaker 2

Wow, okay, wow, that's awesome, but wow, yeah, check this out, this awesome awesome explosive song that is just getting you in like yeah yeah, I'm my head banging over here.

Speaker 1

When I was listening, I'm like yeah, yeah well, you can't help it. It's just like no, no, no, no, no brought me back to my marching days.

Speaker 2

I'm like, yeah, you can never get the metal out of the girls. It can look different I still got the metal in me come on, looks is different, but when you, when I just start listening to something like this, good, oh, my god, it's just like it gets in you, gets in your bones when you get a move, oh, yeah, absolutely, oh, love, wow, anyways. Okay, girl, let's end it like that yeah, sounds good, sounds good.

Speaker 1

Wow, that was like some totally different sound and music. Yeah, all the way, all those. What Four songs?

Speaker 2

Yes, yeah, we give you the poppy. We give you some hip hop with a witch. Oh my God, we got the classic disco funk with 20th century.

Speaker 1

Yeah, and then the in your face metal. Yes, yes, bloody wood with baby metal, india and japan in all one song.

Speaker 2

A was yes, yes, yes and then we went from a group which I'm hoping it was more of a rock band. But hey, maybe what? Maybe in it, and when the album comes out there will be a song in there. They'll be like, yes, this is what I wanted.

Speaker 1

Well, that happens a lot. You know with all artists that a lot of times what, what gets chosen, is the, the lead single. I'm like, well, it's good. And then you listen to the whole album. You're like, where was this song exactly? So it can happen. It can happen all right.

Speaker 2

Well, we, I found me. If we're able to receive, you know, the album, hey, we'll check it out yes definitely all right. So thank you everybody for listening to this music episode for of musical lecture.
