hey yo, what up? It's jet black extreme, but feel free to call me jb. I decided to do a new thing. I'd call it anime lightning. Essentially, on the zone podcast, we like to talk about a whole bunch of things, but there's not a whole lot of time for the rest of the gang to get together to talk about some of the anime that comes out. So I decided to take a handful or two anime that came out each season and do like a quick review on each one of them, and you know, fit my two cents. So, without further ado, let's go ahead and zone in on that, starting with Amakou MD, dr Detective, also known as House.
Speaker 1:The Anime, now at Tenekai General Hospital Supervisory Department of Diagnostic Pathology, handles cases other physicians deem too difficult to treat. It's also where bizarre mysteries surface, from unexplained illnesses to strange murders. Even the police cancel. At the center of it all is dr jacob amaku, a brilliant yet eccentric director of investigative pathology at tenekai General Hospital, in charge of diagnosing patients with other hospital departments cannot. However, due to her love of solving mysteries, takau also gets involved with mysteries, deaths and murders, all while dragging along her assistant, yu Takanashi, and her various adventures. Now, right off bat. I gotta say I like how clean the art style is. I also enjoyed the music in the background. The way Takao deduces issues with patients is very informative and impressive. I feel like I'm learning something. Takao also lives in a small cute house built on top of the hospital Interesting. And also her uncle is her boss or something, and her grandfather founded the hospital and her older sister is also in the medical field. Yeah, I'm pretty sure she was born for her job in a sense. A variety of interesting cases blue blood, a cursed video, spontaneous combustion, a kid fighting cancer and a whole bunch of drama in between. I did see a nurse or resident running in place in episode 9, so I can't say that this is an airtight show, but I will admit I was very impressed with the execution of this anime. I hope this gives more episodes in the future. Nine out of ten.
Speaker 1:Moving on ari fureta now, honestly, I was gonna do a full review on this one. I was gonna do like a top 10 anime that people probably gonna go also work on 20 winter 2025, but you know what? Let's just go ahead and throw this into the mix. So, with art proletta, if you like, solo leveling or any anime where the protagonist gets a second chance at life and becomes a certified badass, then you'll probably like this anime.
Speaker 1:The series seems more like a rom-com as the story progresses, but maintains its seriousness at crucial plot points. It has an interesting magic system. Although the ultimate goal is to return home, the plot forces hajime naguma to save this magical world from a great evil. Uh, the solid music selection and english dub voice acting. I think the most intriguing thing of all was the fact that hajime is a gunslinging alchemist. I was getting like solo leveling, slash, full metal alchemist vibes from this, but you know not to do it like that. It's not a discount art pareto, I'm just saying.
Speaker 1:But yeah, it starts off with hajime almost losing his life in the labyrinth and he must grind his way to become stronger in order to return home and confront the guy that betrayed him, even though he blamed everyone when he was cracked out of his mind in the first episode and also he pretty much dropped the whole revenge scheme. Like his mission evolved to where he must complete all great labyrinths in order to gain all the ancient magic to return to japan bringing the whole game with him. And he finds this blonde, lolly vampire princess yui uh, who was sealed in the labyrinth and almost dismissed her in comedic fashion. Until she mentions how she was betrayed her by her family for being too powerful, which was all hajime needed to do at once 180 and help her like oh, I've been betrayed before, let me help you out afterwards. He names her Yui like a Pokemon when she insists on discarding her old name for whatever Hajime suggests, and since then he dropped the revenge plot. So the plot thickens when a bunny girl, ancia, encounters the duo asking for help. In exchange for helping the duo go through the fog in the sea of trees, she was expeditiously became the useless comic relief character who's surprisingly strong with her hammer gun and also have the for hajime uh. She can be kind of dumb, yelling about how she let Hajime take over Virginia for a whole handful of people to hear the two of them eventually develop a special bond. And in actuality she is not that useless. That pretty much gets dispelled by the time you get to season five. I mean season three pretty much gets dispelled by time you get to, uh, season five. No three, it was three, uh.
Speaker 1:The trio, the teacher and the volunteer students have a very strange encounter with teal chloris, the dragonborn. And by when I say very strange, I mean you're just going to have to see for yourself. She reminds me of Darkness from Konosuba in a way. Eventually the group's at a mermaid girl, miyu, who's like Hajime's adopted daughter. There's some black representation detected between the Demon Clan and the Color Swap when the group fought against themselves in the Final Labyrinth.
Speaker 1:Uh, cowrie, uh, hajime's classmate joins the party as a prominent rival to yue. As you know, hajime affection and refreshing to see a protagonist that knows what he wants as far as romantic partners. By the way, he said he's only in love with yue and he stood on his briefcase when he told carrie what the deal was. Carrie understood, but still loves hajime anyways and will continue to be a love rival, slash, homewrecker, and you know it is what it is. Sia can be stone cold when she wants to be like Catalyst Catele. The demon woman's fiance, mikhail, confronted the group for revenge and Sia essentially said okay and didn't even mind being called a monster if it meant she got stronger. And to save Calorie, hajime transferred her soul into Noi's body, the angel woman. And did I mention that this show has some attractive looking women Approaching the final labyrinth in a snowy area. Approaching the final labyrinth in a snowy area, chia was delighted and called herself a snow rabbit, which was a missed opportunity to call herself a snow bunny. Shizuku has been fighting her feelings for Hajime, considering a betrayal to Kaori the trial of the final labyrinth, is refreshingly self aware of the characters, flaws and growth. Oh yeah, uh, koki, the hero dude, not him being a titled man, child with white knight syndrome, talking about, oh, these women supposed to be attracted to me, not haji man, oh, you should just die. It's always for all that shit. It's crazy, but this, this anime definitely deserves three seasons that it received and I can't wait for more. Nine out of ten. Now here's a fast-paced fantasy rom-com that's not afraid to flash some titties to the audience but keeps the fan service to a tasteful minimum. Uh, behemeko. Now, at times the series tend to function off of video game logic, such as skill cooldowns and roles such as tanks. Typical antagonist gets reincarnated and can gain abilities by slaying and eating monsters. At least the ability to magic system is somewhat intriguing, for example, the howling skill that cats elemental magic. Uh, speaking of protagonist tama, uh, he, he used to be a knight in a past life, but he was defeated in battle and he got reborn as a behemoth. But he looks like like a kitten, though at least at first. But he's more powerful than he appears. He used his new life to protect the woman that saved him from nearly dying in this life. Even as an S-rank monster manages to have a harem Like seriously. I'll explain that in a bit. Arya, the elf girl that saved Tom, got the big boobies and goes adventuring with her friends. She can be kind of kinky. Vulcan. The cat girl, is a blacksmith that serves as a voice of reason from time to time Tends to say a bunch of cat puns. Stella, an earth dragon turned human after being defeated by Tama, serves as the tank of the party. Of all girls, stella has the most. She's the most direct about having the hots for a cat, jesus Christ. There's also Fairy the Dryad about having the hots for a cat, jesus Christ. There's also Fairy the Dryad and Lily the Fairy, two more companions in Arya's party there there. Alicia, the other elf girl, knew Tom's secret and kept it a secret and overall it's not bad. I just wasn't expecting something ground breaking either. It's mid-mediocre, 5 out of 10. Moving on Focus skill fruit master. Now it's one of these Low-key OP premises where the protagonist thought he was useless until he discovers that his skill is more useful than perceived. A fast-paced and light-hearted series where the conflicts tend to resolve in less than half of the episode, unless it's a keystone event. Each notable character serves a purpose to an extent, as a way of showcasing that no skill is useless if applied properly, or at least that's the supposed theme for the anime. Like this, like a boy who wants to be an adventurer gained the fruit master skill, which is initially known for cultivating fruits faster than normal. Little did everyone know that he can eat more than one skill fruit and gain more skills Immediately after eating a stew that Aila made using skill fruits. Unwittingly, light gained the Sorcerer's God skill. He gains more skills, some being very useful as sleep fairy and torch plane. He's kind of dumb and kind of a captain, obvious, but I like his sense of confidence. His designs remind me of buddy from in another world. With my smartphone now kind of digging the design for Light's first sword, even if it breaks one too many times. Lena, light's best friend, gains the Sword Saint skill, which is this rare skill that makes her a chosen one. She was part of a prestigious guild, sacred, but joined Light and Ayla to form Luxeria. Light and ala, uh, ayla, excuse me. To form luxeria, she gains the ability to fly thanks to her new pexis companion. Zero enduros, uh, I don't think it's uh different, fucking whatever. I like her design. She reminds me of lucy harfilia, fromytale. Now Ayla, a girl who lives with light because of the village, she ain't shit gained the appraisal skill, funny enough. I like how. Pizza is the go to food for this anime, at least for Ayla and Monica. The blacksmith girl is a tradesman who forges many things with her super force skill but for ethical reasons relates to her father, an eyeball and the death of her grandmother refused to craft swords until light came along. I like her design. Reminds me of Mei Hasume from my Hero Academia, but her drip reminds me of Team Zygurum from Gurren Lagann. Miss Flower Hat, head of Investigation, have the scholar's eye, having access to a wealth of information, including secret techniques. She helps Lena and Jartina. Despite being neutral, her design stands out the most as far as color. Now, jatina she's this vampiric-looking dancer who uses necromancy to control the undead and was introduced as an enemy in Episode 3. I like her design Also, her backstory kind of reminds me of Himiko Toga, in the sense that their respective abilities are the reason why they got typecast as villains. In episode 9, jartina wanted to participate in the dance of the fairies to fulfill her dream of becoming a dancer. She became an unlikely ally of Lena when protecting the city of Athena from some evil guy named Argos. That that summoned a different wicked dragon from the ones Retina summoned before. So yeah, she's not so bad. Zondo, boss of the Blackbird Merchants, have the skill Thunder Charge, which functions like the lightning flame from Catechia, hitman Reborn the Holy Sister was secretly the ops. She's the one who gives out the fruit skills to new adventurers uh, the most important person in the adventurers guild. And yet she is connected to dratina, zondo and the black swan guild and even evaded lena's questioning of her involvement with um class one and 13 and episode five. Her skill is precognition, where she can see the future, creating the theory that she knew ahead of time who will get what skill they received and predicted some of the events that transpired. She's intrigued to see if. What is this um person called a primordial Like, maybe like a very special talent? Honestly, I'm kind of interested in watching a season two, if that's going to happen, assuming that it gets greenlit. Also refreshing to see that it didn't fall into the hair rom-com direction, at least not yet. 8 out of 10. It's pretty good. Now next one receptionist. Now we got alina clover signed up to be a receptionist for the adventurers guild, thinking it would be her ticket to the good life. Unfortunately, her dream gig turns into an overtime nightmare whenever the adventurers get stuck clearing the dungeon. To save herself from a mountain of paperwork, alina takes on to beating down monsters herself to solve the problem. Now she just needs to keep her activities a secret. Now, immediately. I like how guilt receptionists are normally just there to doing their job for adventurers, but this anime turns the tables on that. Alina just wants a slow and steady jobs and she stands on business when she's on the clock. But she can be kind of intense with a little potty mouth when adventurers forces her to work overtime or disturb her peace. Despite her strength, alina is not interested in being an adventurer herself and I can expect it when someone makes it clear about what they want in life. Overall this anime is decent. Feels kind of a lather rinse repeat every two or so episodes with how alina pretty much carries the show with her emotional range and being the deus ex machina for the Silver Sword Guild and other adventurers, bashing enemies with her warhammer. Also something about Dark Souls getting sucked. Oh yeah, the magic and skill system is also kinda cool. For the time being, this anime is feeling kinda of like a six out of ten. Anyways, headhunted in another world. I'm kind of on a roll with these workforce anime for the young adults, and good thing for it, because I'm kind of getting tired of this narrative that oh, all these anime focusing on teenage kids, and I'm like bro, like sometimes y'all are chasing the mainstream anime a little too hard, like you gotta dig a little deeper and realize that there is, like a way, more anime that just might relate to you and you might relate to it, but you know it is what it is and that's kind of why I am glad I am doing anime lighting, but anyways, headhunter in another world. The protagonist, the no escape uchimura, is a salaryman that got isekai in one of the lamest ways and one of the lamest ways possible, got hit by blue beauty in a scooter oh excuse me and doesn't even look like he could have died, but in actuality he got displaced and he got summoned by the Demon Overlord To serve as one Of his four generals. And due to his resume Bossman you know I'm not gonna say Demon Overlord All the damn time, I'm just gonna call him. Bossman Needs someone to With management experience and saw more potential in Uchimura, more than the co-workers that Uchimura had in his past life. Now I like how resourceful and insightful Uchimura is, but I don't like how he tends to fold when something unexpected occurs, to a point where he's always demanding Bossman to fire him, just for Bossman to essentially tell him to chill out and have more confidence. Now Bossman is ironically like almost like a supportive father figure. I love his uses of concept magic to defeat the Calamity at the end of the season. Also, digging the drip. Not gonna lie, the other generals have a very attractive character design Omandra, the half-dragon girl, the designated tsundere, catches feeling for Uchimura and makes it quite obvious for the audience. She gets hilariously jealous of any strange women being near Uchimura. Silph, silphid, uh, busty, bespectacled elf, looking chick it's a designated dandere, or you know, like that really inclusive scientist chick. She hides her true appearance in order to maintain control over a workload. I kind of get in. I really hate bringing up velma and this um thing, but like there's a point in season two of velma where I'm like, okay, I kind of see why she might want to do that, but anyways, I like the way she's put together. Honestly, her half brother, viper, serves as the option in episodes 8 and 9. Just something to throw out there. Gnome, the slim demi-human girl, is the designated kure, which is like the logical thinker with the blunt opinions. Olulu, who's the daughter of the Ogre Chief, becomes an aide after negotiating with her father and the Ogre Tribe. She also catches a feel for Uchimura, but she's more helpful to omandra and her pursuit of him. So that's cool. Uh, nea, a young demon girl, is a former spy that becomes uchimura's secretary after the ordeal with viper. Uh, the main conflict, they hear, is that the divide between demons and demi-humans, which Ujimura must find a way to unite the people. In the name of the boss man, I would say the English dub voice acting definitely sticks out, but not in a bad way. Some references to other anime pops up here and there, like Food Wars, naruto and Death death note. You can learn a thing or two from uchimura and the boss man, such as how, in some cultures, butting heads is an integral part of diplomacy and that failure is not the end but a lesson for us to carry. Sometimes some back and forth is part of negotiations, and that folding easily would ruin the spirit of it. I'd recommend this anime for those looking for wisdom that can be applied to real life. If the stakes were higher in this anime, I'd probably rate it higher than a 6. Anyways, momentary Lily, now automatically. I'm just gonna say this. Visually this anime is beautiful and I love that. It teaches you recipes to food that they prepare and. But we got robotic invaders wiped out all life. But Renge fights to survive using her powers. With no memory, she roams the city until she meets five other young women, each with unique abilities. Together they make the most of their lives cooking delicious meals between battles with mechanical monstrosities. As they uncover the secrets of their powers and paths, they find strength in their friendship. You know that sort of thing. So it's kind of hard for me to describe the girls outside of Miss Amnesia, blondie, big Sis, class Rep, gamer Girl and Twin Tails. Otherwise they can seem like normal girls who cook, play games, other school girls stuff, when they're not forced to fight in a post-apocalyptic world with mysterious weapons called unbarring, and turns out, all the girls from rengai were copies created by the aliens that created the wild hunt, intended to replace the real humans for a plot that has since been abandoned. Renge's copies already died. Humanity itself was a science project created by aliens who also created several other civilizations on other planets. The Wild Hunts were intended to erase humanity and record their civilization, but that order was halted. The other Yuri, erikarika, hinagishi, ayame and Nerune in the facility are in fact the real ones, while Renge is the real Renge but was biologically altered by her Anbarai and is doomed to die if she continues using it. I won't reveal too much because there's some details. That's best seen for one. So I think this anime is good in its own right. Eight out of ten nah, I'll be nice, I'll probably bump it up to play 8.5, maybe a nine going on. We got online shopping in another world, so yeah. We got another one for the middle age working man, so we got kimichi hamada. Uh, just a regular 38 year old man working as an illustrator in japan. One day he's transported to another world and waits to find himself in the middle a dangerous forest filled with ravenous monsters, he quickly discovers a massive online shopping site that can deliver him exactly what he needs. So yeah, the whole east sky experience was super sped up in the first episode and essentially, kanichi starts reselling what he buys from shangri the equivalent of Amazon Prime to the villagers and ultimately wants a laid-back life in a cabin in the woods. I respect that kind of simplicity. Primula kind of impressed me with her mindset, because one thing about me is that I love bitches that stand on business. I like the part where Kenichi spent the night with Primula, brought her home to her father, milo, who was oddly cool with it, and then proceeded to present lingerie to both of them as a joke. And Kenichi is trying to be a stand-up guy but Blondie's not making it easy for him, with the big old bitties wanting to be his wife and all that shit want to be his wife and all that shit. I thought the part where Kenichi tripping balls was funny. The old man casting explosion reminds me of Megumin from Konosuba just a little bit. Ever since Kenichi saved him from the bandits, both Blondie and the 12-year-old want to be his wife. The anime eventually evolves Into a harem romcom where Kenichi even cut the king when his More dominant wife decided to go With the protagonist. Well, not really. It's more like the Daughter wanted to hang out with him and the wife was more Like, hey, you want to sleep with me or something? No, thank you. And the wife was more like, hey, you wanna sleep with me or something? And I'm like, uh, no, thank you, those are of the king mind. And I'm like I mean, he just kind of looked away. I'm like, well, what can I say? Sometimes Can you see some of those Contrusting vehicles, vehicles like their mechs, and as a mecha fan I smirked a little bit. Even the shangri-la user interface reminded me of Final Fantasy in a way and, not gonna lie, this anime was kind of worth the watch from a business point of view. Supply and demand like mathematics, provisionation, improvising, excuse me innovation, negotiations and building relationships with the right people. It's honestly not bad, but I just wish the pacing development was cooked more slowly. I'd say like a 7.5 out of 10, I guess, worthless Appraiser. Now another anime about how the protagonist is perceived as weak or useless but becomes the strongest around. It can be bloody and gruesome, like Soul Eleventh and Artifurettum, but the series lightens up after episode 1. Now the protagonist Aang. He's been settled with the job of appraiser, the weakest and the least fortunate of all jobs one can be formed with, as the only power it grants is the ability to appraise things. Treated cruelly by all and reduced to a glitter collector, vice appraiser ein has grown to hate himself and lives his days in a spineless silver basement. But when he meets Yuri, the spirit of the World Tree, and her protector, ursula, the Sage Ayn's fate takes a drastic turn. With the gift of a spirit eye from Yuri and the help of Ursula and learning how to use it help of Ursula and learn how to use it Aang grows stronger and stronger until he's ready to take Yuri on a long, desired journey to meet her World Tree sisters. He goes on to overcome all sorts of challenges, armed with his natural kindness and his newfound courage. Now he learns a bunch of interesting spells in Episode 2, such as Super Parraise, which is like having spidey sense, or a sharding gun. He also gains a bunch of intriguing items from Ursula, such as the spirit sword. You know like it's dangerous out there. So take this in a way, both Yuri and Ursula are linked to Aang, where Ursula can monitor his movements, while Yuri can essentially be summoned by Aang through his spirit eye. He also gets jacked like Sun Tzu Yuri. She can be sweet, soft-spoken girl with the big, big ol' bitties and a lot of power. She caught feelings for Aang and became his pocket healer. Ursula comes off kind of like a bitchy trainer to Ayn but she's very protective of her quote-unquote daughter. Yuri, like all the guardians, consider each other like mother and daughter, that kind of thing going on and she serves as Ayn's eyes and ears in the field. I like the way she reminds me of Kratos from God of War, the way she addresses Aina as a boy. Pina is Yuri's mischievous younger sibling. I like the literal stars in her eyes. Kurihime, pina's guardian, reminds me of Yaya from Unbreakable Machine Doll in a way, but scarier, you know, mainly just clothing. Alice is the older bookworm sister to yuri. She's also interested in ein in a way. Uh, akahane, uh. Alice's guardian reminds me of washiu from tenji muyo in a way. Uh, may, the youngest spirit becomes a very demanding little sister to Ayn. First, the second oldest spirit and maze guardian. It's probably the most voluptuous of the spirits, with a blindfold covering her evil eye, the guild master Meegan. I like the way she's put together A domineering woman with the tickle of the teeth. Jasper is a rich dude who wants to marry Ayn I'm serious, and I like his drip, not gonna lie. And Claudia von Gaitaniga I'm serious, I'm serious Is a rich girl who takes into the eye. Zoid and Jolene are the assholes that threw Ayn under the bus in a quest that started it all. When Ayn proved that he was alive and clarified what happened, it ruined Zoid's reputation. Meanwhile, jolene lied and said Zoid put her up to it and threatened her if he saw that I. Well, no, excuse me, he threatened to kill her if she didn't sell her I. Now, eventually he becomes a monster and kills Jolene out of revenge, but I stops him and kills. Stops from killing more people by purifying his demonic form. Shadow the Enticer, the demon that possessed Nightgun, had a plot that sounds like something straight out of the Promised Neverland. After the Nightgun arc, iain took Nightgun's place as lord of the Erasic domain and as a means of gaining valuable knowledge that he may need. Horn of the Instructable has an interesting queen bee design. Iona Iona I am butchering these names Also has an interesting design reminding me of the sound from Naruto, with the eyes and the horns. I like her use of the guns. Echidna, the ops of the series, is the original spirit and a fine-ass chocolate elf woman with the tiggo bitties. She helps Boy get revenge on Ayan, but was using him to collect data on Aang. Her ultimate goal was to revive Mitoran. The behemoth in this anime has a design that kinda goes hard, especially with the eyes, something like demon slayer. The more I watched this anime, the more I started thinking of D&D and Legend of Zelda. Although I don't like how Russ Ayn's grind was, this anime is fairly intriguing and entertaining. Despite my lewd remarks, this anime doesn't hinge on fan service at all. Yeah, ayn has a harem and it gets comical at times, but Worthless Appraiser stands on business for the most part. I'm expecting a second season and see the other four sisters make their anime debut. 8 out of 10. Now for the last one for anime lightning. Another one for the young adults in the workforce, especially if you're interested in making your own anime and manga. You might find some insightful lines in the show Zenshu. Now, zenshu has some clean character art and visual effects. Bonus points for brown skin representation here and there, decent music selection and voice acting from the English dubcastcast anime producer and protagonist nasako hirose, the main character of this story, must work on a rom-com for her next project but have no experience with love herself. She ends up fainting after choking on her lunch during work and gets isekai to a fancy world based on her favorite movie that may give her the muse that she needs crazy long hair that covers her face and gives a realistic take on how anime projects are received by the audience in this world. She uses her talking peg bar to rewrite the narratives and I like it's like watching someone experience their own headcanon and, due to naziko's interference with the plot, it creates unexpected turn of events. I highly recommend this anime for its visual beauty, the relatable statements and the wealth of insight. 9 out of 10. Wait, hold, hold on. Studio Mappa produced this anime Ironic. So that's it for Anime Lightning. Pretty much. Just quick two cents on how I feel about those shows. To be fair, there's some honorable mentions like Sakamoto Dei Rurouni, kenshin, rezero, the Apothecary Diaries, shangri-la, frontier, dr Stone Left, my A-Rain Party, sentai, red East, sky, 100 Girlfriends, farmagia, grisaia, phantom Trigger and Aquarium Myth of Emotions. But I'm going to do a full review or we're going to be part of an extreme review later on, and we already completed Soul Leveling, blue, exorc ball, diamond and don machi. So that was all that caught my interest for winter 20. Uh, not gonna lie, I did stumble my words a whole lot out of all this and I do apologize. I will get better at this and hopefully I'll have better podcast speaking equipment so that way I can do a little better on all this. But that's all I got to say. Go ahead and have yourself a good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night, whatever time it is in your area, and ultimately you take it easy. I'm zoning out of here.
