A royal ball, a smug prince, and a script we’ve all seen before—until Scarlet smiles and asks for one final thing. From that audacious opening, we dig into May I Ask for One Final Thing and why its supposed villainess becomes a standout heroine who refuses to play nice with cruel people. We walk through the breakup bombshell, the sly humor, and the fight choreography that turns time magic into a visual punchline, then a delayed gut punch. The show swings between romance tropes and shonen energy, and we explore how it uses both to challenge bad dating advice and the myth that meanness equals affection.

We break down a stacked cast: Kyle, a paper‑thin tyrant who exits early; Julius, the polished first prince with class blinders; Nanaka, the beastkin freed from servitude who finds purpose at Scarlet’s side; Alflame, a dragon tamer whose absurd durability finally makes Scarlet try; and Saint Diana, sweet yet steel‑spined. Then we zoom out to the blessing system that feels delightfully like quirks with theology. Scarlet’s time gift lets her outthink brute force, Diana’s wards protect more than lives, and Julius’s “heroic tale” power demands mutual love—strength tied to relationship, not ego. It’s smart worldbuilding that keeps action and theme intertwined.

And yes, the gods are messy. A jealous goddess crafts a body, snatches a soul, and seeds an isekai antagonist with charm magic, turning divine drama into court intrigue at cosmic scale. We talk payoffs, that chaotic climax, and why the season’s ending feels satisfyingly complete even as it leaves room for more. Our verdict lands at 8.5/10: killer art, sharp writing, and a heroine who steals scenes. The one gripe? Stakes. When Scarlet rarely sweats, tension thins. If a second season arrives, we want a rival who truly pushes her.

What up, gang? It's JB, and the Zone Podcast is back at it again with another review. This time, crazy enough, I'm not doing a mecha anime right now. I want to go ahead and review May I Ask for One Final Thing. It's about an engagement being broken off at a ball. It was supposed to be the cliche scene condemning a villainist in the middle of a ball, uh, the second prince Kyle Bond Palestine unreasonably announces that he is canceling his engagement to Scarlett L. Vandemon, uh, excuse me, Vandamien, excuse me, excuse me for that, uh, a Duke's daughter. Furthermore, he announces that he has a new fiance, Terranessa Hopkins, and they make baseless accusations against Scarlett. Scarlett had endured years of torment from Kyle ever since they were young, all for the sake of their engagement, but she could hold back no longer. She asks, This is my final request. May I send this stupid bitch flying? For starters, Scarlet is a refreshing protagonist to follow. A Duchess who liked the scrap since childhood, being painted as a villainous. And we're going for the going along for the ride on how it got to this point in Media Res, so to speak. Not only does she have hands, but she got brains too. She's secretly a saint in this world, which is why the Palestine royal family wants her married to Kyle in the first place. And I imagine Scarlet being the type of girl that's like they think I'm fighting to save the day, but really I just like to fight. I'm talking belt ass. This is the kind of anime where boys and girls can learn from this in regards to what not to do when courting or being courted by the opposite sex. If he's being, you know, like how some folks would tell their daughters, oh, if he's being mean to you, he must like you. Or he just might be just treating you like shit, and as long as you are accepting it, he's just gonna keep treating you like shit, you know. You know, it just be like that. And I I don't know what sometimes I just feel like we're just sending the wrong messages to kids these days. Sometimes, not always, but sometimes. Now, this second prince, Kyle, has been a piece of shit since jump, and I'm glad that he just pretty much got written out of the story in episode one. Julius, Kyle's brother in the first prince, is kind of a piece of shit too, but at least he's not as bad as Kyle. He just looks down on commoners in general. Leo, Scarlet's brother, is the sensible one where he's trying to keep the mad dog noble woman from misbehaving. Terranessa, Kyle's new fiance, is the true villainous behind closed doors. Turns out that she got Isakai to this world, and I'm gonna explain that later. And also, she got that blicky, like she's she straight up told that old man, hey yo, I got something better than madish. And you're like, better than mad. That's the y'all, I got something better than maddy. This what's right here. This pole. Now, Nanaka, a dog-like beastkin that can take human form, was a slave to Lord Godwin until Scarlet freed him, and now he assists the Duchess as part of his revenge against his former master. We have Alflame Rare Bunkish, the first prince of Bonkish and Dragon Tamer. He was hired to take out Minister Godwin, but after fighting Scarlet, he began folding to her immediately. Like he was like down, but it was like that's pretty much how it goes for most of these guys. Like, for some reason, they just like this badass woman, and she's like, nah, fuck men right now. Like, I mean, she's not actively saying that, but more like she is not really interested in uh uh being in a relationship with anyone at this point right now because you know, she just got her engagement broken off, and pretty much all the guys around her were either big pieces of shit or a little too eager, or is like, you know, I'm just trying to stand up business to get revenge and all that sort of thing. Like, I don't really care for y'all right now. That sort of thing. Then we have Rosalina, Ray, Madeline, and Envy Mel Champagne, who are two of Scarlett's friends from the school days, they pop up here and there. Saint Diana is like a little sister to Scarlet, the cute but scrappy type. She was given her name after the first saint had saved the kingdom, but prefers Sonya for the sake of having her own identity. She also has a crutch on Scarlet's brother Leo. Go figure. Dios, a nice knight of Elvis royalty, is very cavalier, especially with Scarlet. He's really a spy and an inquisitor for a Terranesa. And oh yeah, he's Sonya's brother, who he has a sister complex for. So take that as you will. Did I forget to mention that there's magic in this world too? Because Scarlet got the blessing of Pronoa, uh, the god of time. This allows her to turn back time, accelerate herself, reverse seals, and other feats on top of learning other magic to enhance her physique for boxing. The more she uses her powers, the more her hair turns black, giving her Corella vibes. And let me just say in episode five, I always screaming, you know, like deal. Whereas like, bro, the way she did it too, where it's like just thought uh just gonna hit him in certain areas, and then by the time she let time uh go normally again, then just feel all that damage and I like Zowado. I swear to God, I can say it a lot better than that, but I'm just trying to move right now. Alflames blessing as medicalization from the goddess deal meteor, spelled with two uh yeah, two R's, allowing him to withstand an abnormal amount of damage. Now, if he wasn't susceptible to concussions, Scarlet would have met her match with him, ironically. Like, you know, she wasn't really feeling him romantically, but when it comes to combat, it's almost like this is the only dude that can probably be like, oh shit, I have to gotta try with this guy, you know. Diana's blessing is exorcism also from Konoa, allowing her to put power barriers to ward off demons from the demon continent led by the demon king. Because why the fuck would there not be a demon king in our fantasy anime at this point? Julius' blessing is heroic tale from the god above all others, Origin, the creator. It allows Julius to tap into unlimited power whenever someone he loves is in danger, but it has to be mutual. And I'm sitting there like these are sounding like quirks now, it sounds like MHA quirks, and then we have Terranessa's blessing allowing her to charm those exposed to her spells or whatnot. Apparently, Palmia is a goddess that was in love with Kronoa. Keep in mind that Palmia is Terranessa's god, uh you know, like that's where Terranessa got her blessing from. But hold on, I'm gonna get to her. Like, oh watch this. Apparently, she's in love with Kronoa, but was so jealous that he gave his blessing to humans, so she gave hers to Terranessa. Paul Mia actually created the body for Terranessa, and that would explain how Terranessa was Isekai. Keep in mind that back in on Earth, like Japan, you know, that sort of thing, she was Himamiya, Teresa, or Teresa Himamiya, how we won't uh do that, and check this out how Mia straight up struck her with a bolt of lightning during a perfectly normal day, just to make this happen. By the way, he she was like, Okay, I'm gonna need a soul to inhibit this body. You right there, I need you. So she just kills her and like yokes her soul, and like, all right, you're reincarnated, and I'm gonna need you to take out these girls that got my crush's blessing, you know. I'm like, bro, I can't believe that's the plot. I can't believe that's the conflict right there. I'm like, bro, you can't be fucking serious right now. Oh, yeah, something about horror monsters attacking and war between the five kingdoms, and the series, the season ends with Scarlet and Julius versus Terranersa and also Julius, because you know it was like a charm thing, and turns out he wasn't Billy Charmers, blah blah blah. If you've seen it, you already know. If you don't didn't see it, sorry if I kind of spoiled it for you. I mean, I pretty much did for most of it, but uh yeah, I just you know, you know, the opening is okay, but I was vibing to that ending theme, so for real. And ultimately, I want to give, may I ask for one final thing, at least an 8.5 out of 10. Strong hook, the acting is as good as the punch lines, beautifully stunning artwork, love the twists and turns. Scarlet pretty much handled everyone with relative ease. I mean, even Saituma from One Punch Man had to break a sweat every now and then. Don't get me wrong, I love how badass Scarlet is. I just wish there was at least one confrontation that she didn't just weedily steamroll through. Looking at you, my instant death ability. I mean, I'm I swear to God, I'm still kind of pissed off with Koku Gasu uh recommending this anime where I'm like, it's good, but at the same time, I'm like, I I can't really I feel nothing for this protagonist because it's just like he just have this ability to where oh he just look at somebody, just like, yeah, you can go ahead and off yourself, you know, bubble yourself.

SPEAKER_01

And it's almost like he doesn't even really know it just felt like you know, by the time he shows up, they're done. They're fucking done.

SPEAKER_00

With Skrull, yeah, he had she had to fight them and whatnot, like put hands on them, but it feels like she didn't really she wasn't really sweating against any of them. So it's almost like, yeah, you know, like if it's too easy for them, I'm just not that interested. Like, at least with underdogs like me Doria, where it just seemed like like, yeah, you're kind of expecting them to pull through in the end, but like, come on, give me some direness. Like, it's okay to kind of stress me out a little bit, like, oh shit, this don't look good. This don't look good. Like, what the fuck is going on? Is he gonna is he gonna be alright? Is he gonna be alright? Like, see, like, it's okay if I feel some type of way, if they're kinda on uh roles where I'm like, okay, to kind of pull through and whatnot, but like it would seem like it was too easy for the protagonist to just steamroll through every opponent that they go up against. I'm just not as interested. Like, sorry, just but hey, it is entertaining, it is fairly entertaining, it's kind of funny, and for the most part, I did love it, but that's my only nitpick. I just I just you know, I just don't want that Mary Sue type shit going on, you know what I'm saying? So, with that being said, that's all I really say about this anime. Pretty good. I'm just gonna still stand by that 8.5, maybe a nine. Eh, nah, I'll stick the more like it was great, it was great, but like I won't put it up in incredible territory until there's like a season two. By the way, the way it ended, I'm not gonna say much, but let me just say that it just felt so conclusive to our even need a season two, like when you see the ending and we get to the ending, and you're like, well, at this point, does there even need to be a season two? Like, what would be the plot at that point? So if it don't get a season two, that's fine. If it does, that's great. But yeah, that's pretty much all that I say. With that being said, have yourself a good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night. Ultimately, do take it easy. Remember to stay nerdy and that great things are coming. And oh, one more thing bell to ass. Bell to ass.
