Invincible (Season 4): Enter Thragg, Thicc Eve and the Viltrumite War
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Thragg doesn’t feel like a “next villain.” He feels like gravity, and once he shows up, every decision in Invincible Season 4 starts to sound like a threat or a confession. We break down the season from Mark and Eve’s shaky attempt at normal life to the full-scale Coalition of Planets war against the Viltrumite Empire, including what the show adds that comic readers didn’t get the same way.
We talk through the biggest story beats and why they land: Nolan’s backstory, the Great Purge, and the ugly logic of a society built on strength; Conquest’s brutal impact on Mark’s mindset; and the way Debbie’s scenes carry real emotional weight as Nolan tries to apologize for the unforgivable. We also get into the nitpicks that fans keep debating, like spotty animation moments, pacing choices, and why a detour episode can feel out of place even when it’s fun.
Then we hit the finale questions that actually keep you up: what Eve’s choice says about fear and responsibility, what it means when Viltrumites are secretly living among humans to repopulate, and why the Scourge Virus becomes an ethical nightmare instead of a clean solution. If you’re searching for an Invincible Season 4 review, a comics vs show comparison, or just a real reaction to that “I’ll kill you too” energy, you’re in the right place.

Welcome And Season Setup
SPEAKER_01What up gang? It's the Zone Podcast back at it again with another review. We are doing Invincible Season 4. And with me today, we got Chris and Jodi. So let's go ahead and zoom right in on it. So this season's overall plot shifting to no one's past, getting us uh more insight on the Vilchamite Society and highlighting his role in the Empire's thirst for conquest. You also get more perspective on the Empire being absent from the comics, so we get a little bit more uh of an idea of what they're about versus what's got in the original comics, and we get some new members, some new um characters like uh Universa and of course Grand Regent Thrags was teased in the season three finale, but now we get to see him in action. So let's go ahead and get into it. Apply. So uh while Mark Over and Eve continue shopping uh East Threat stuff, dealing with uh the physical and mental aftermath of Angstra and Conquest, C's will decide to get uh new guy Britt as the leader of the Guardians and try to get the teen team back in there. Uh Mark and Eve have this very awkward dinner with Eve's parents. And before I go any further into the plot, uh gentlemen, how y'all feeling about Invisible Season 4 so far?
Big New Lore And Characters
SPEAKER_03Uh I think it was really good. They added a bunch of stuff that kind of filled in a couple gaps, like you said, with you know, learning more of the the Viltor My Empire that we didn't get from the comic. Um it was it was good though. I I think the animation was decent, the storyline was decent, there was some ebbs and flows, but for the most part, it was very consistent. Uh better than previous seasons in my mind. Fair enough, fair enough. Jogie?
SPEAKER_02I enjoyed it a fuck ton, man. You know, it's it was simple, it had fights, good growth. You saw a lot of different characters interact with different situations that we haven't seen before. You know, it was just it it it it felt good watching it, like refreshing, having it again. I feel that.
First Reactions And Animation Debates
SPEAKER_01And going back to Chris, it's crazy that you're saying about it had great animation because some of the critics were like saying that, oh well, here and there uh there was like some animation problems. Like, for instance, the whole thing with Oliver helping out Titan against Liu, and when the dragon was trying to come after Oliver, it just looked like uh something strange. Like it just didn't feel like it was fully animated. I wasn't really nitpicking about that. It's just more like trying to prepare for the review is more like okay, let's see what the critics are talking about. And they were just basically saying that, oh, how uh that and um when Mark was fighting Conquest for like a split second, it was like you can see Paul's face instead of Mark's face. And one more thing, um, when they were fighting the Vilcher Mites down in space, one of the Vilcher Mite, they got punched, but then he just kind of um bleeped out um scene. In other words, it just magically disappeared. So it's almost like there were like some errors, but honestly, I didn't notice that when I was first watching it, so I'm like, hey, you know what? Minor flaws I can gloss over.
The Awkward Dinner With Eve’s Dad
SPEAKER_03So yeah, it doesn't bother me as much. It's better than other seasons. There were mistakes, but there's gonna be mistakes, it's just kind of how it goes. Uh, I grew up watching old anime dog, so you know, I'm used to Naruto like still moments and stuff. So it can be way worse, dog. It can be way worse. Oh yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01And uh, can I just say it's really crazy with that dinner that Mark and Eve had with Eve's parents, because when Adam, Eve's father, um took Mark outside for a cigar talk about, uh, believe it or not, that conversation was way worse in the comments. It was way bad.
SPEAKER_03It was so bad. I'm kind of glad they didn't do that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, I was like, whoa, hold on, dog. That's crazy that your own father is saying that about you. Like, I would have see your mom's mom, like, ooh, bro, I would have been so fucking decked.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Dude, he always just like from the start, they built him as a very offsetting character.
SPEAKER_03Very unlikable. Yeah, done a good job.
SPEAKER_02Like the most miserable person.
SPEAKER_01Like, dog, like I know there were like like some exceptions I have where I'm like, have you ever met a motherfucker where he's like, God damn, your face is so punchful.
SPEAKER_03Very punchful. I was just thinking about how punchful his face was, dog.
SPEAKER_01God damn, you pissed me off. But, anyways, that was about it for about that dinner. I just thought I was like, damn. Once, like, so far we're like four for four as far as damn, Adam. Are you gonna get any kind of risk? Like, come on, give me some sort of redeeming quality. God damn.
SPEAKER_02Dude, I love the memes that are going around right now. They're like that uh him, Paul, and Debbie are gonna stand up to the uh VelcroBites. Have y'all seen them? I didn't. Dude, oh my god. It's a big thing going around with for some reason that people are just like drawing Debbie and like other like very side characters into big, big ass strong people.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_02That's crazy. The invincible fandom is weird, dude. They got people that just love making memes. They got people they get they have any, they find any reason to like criticize it, you know.
Fandom Memes And A New Guest
SPEAKER_01I feel that. Professor Tuck, welcome to the show. How you feeling, man?
SPEAKER_00What's good, y'all?
SPEAKER_01What's good, man? Uh, how you feeling about Invincible Season Four as it stands right now? We didn't really get into the part where we're just about to get into like the uh sequence, you know, the Sorrow, um, knockoff. We were about to get into that, but like, how are you feeling about season four so far?
SPEAKER_00Well, the art style, of course, is there. Um, as it was with typical uh the first three seasons. But season four, I didn't know how they was gonna like play it off because it ended so good. It was so good in season three. Man, and when you got Conquest, uh, it was so much peak. I didn't know how they was gonna expand on it from there. But season four had definitely some bangers, um, some different stuff that happened. I didn't really like the end, but I get the setup for the next season. So, overall, it was a good season.
Episode 1 Plot And Fallout
Nolan’s Backstory And The Scourge Virus
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I did like the season. I really did. Now, about the sequis. So, we got no invasion going on. Meanwhile, this alien named Universal arrives on Earth trying to drain energy from the power plant to save her people. So, Mark and Eve deal with her. Eve struggles with her powers becoming unstable during the fight. Uh, universe is defeated. Uh, meanwhile, we got the Guardians um dealing with the sect with Threat. And with Mark's help, they save all the infected civilians using the new technology. But Mark killed that one guy, Russ, the final host to end the danger. So uh Conquest, he escapes captivity, leaves Earth, and returned to Viltrum to report his failure to thrack. So, yeah, it's kind of like some follow-up to Mark having his little archabob killing his opponents. So, yeah, I thought it was kind of interesting, like a good way to kind of ease our way into the action going forward. But uh outside of that, I'd say like the first two, well no, we're still in the first one. We're still in the first episode, but like the first episode was not bad. It's you know, like a fairly decent entry to the season. But see, not season episode two. Episode two. Okay. This one was pretty good. Where we got Nolan's backstory, the great verge, and the scourge virus being uh produced. Also, Alan and his girlfriend having a whole lot of sex on the ship inspired by Starts Right. That was crazy. So uh, starting with you, Chris, how you feeling about episode two?
SPEAKER_03Uh, I liked it. The backstory was decent, it built on things, it gave us information that we hadn't seen yet. Um, for people who haven't read the comics or whatever, like there's a lot of it that they won't get yet. But I think it was really good. It's good to see Nolan's backstory. I feel like his redemption is is going in the right path. Uh, they're not trying to like force it, they're letting him see the era of his ways and kind of try to become a better version of himself. You know, he's realizing that he loves his sons, and you know, Debbie means stuff to him that he didn't think she did. And like, you know, back in the day, he said she was his pet and basically his dog. But like, you know, a couple episodes in the season four, we see that he's very cut up about how it happened with her. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so, you got anything you want to add on to that?
SPEAKER_00Uh, not particularly. I do agree. Uh, the backstory is nice, it it lets you set a precedence of getting into like um any kind of redemption art. Similar to like um, well, similar to like Prince Zuko. I know it's different, I know it's different, and it and some of the stuff ain't redeemable. But like you, when you looking into it, like a character development and the art, you have to showcase um growth, you have to showcase depth in the character. And it's gonna be hard to do that throughout the seasons, but I'm interested to see how they're gonna do it and if it can reach that level of like uh Bakugo or Prince Zuko or stuff like that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I see where you're going with that, and I agree to where it's essentially we know that Nolan's action is unforgivable because it's like we can't just pretend that everything's all good despite the fact that you pretty much uh took out the uh original roster of Guardians.
SPEAKER_04Full roster.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, a full roster of Guardians, and you did all that to Chicago and everything. Uh called Debbie a Pet. I'm like, bro, like that's that's a lot of shit that you just can't walk fast. So it's more like the love.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, I see that was like oh man, that was some fear bradley shit to me. No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_01That was some um, that was some Reiner and Berthold type shit to where it's like you can't pretend that you um pretty much decimate a whole village. Um Aaron Yeager talking about, oh my mama got chomped by a Titan, and then those boys just sat there like, damn, bro, that's crazy. Like you wasn't involved. Yeah. Yeah, no, I'm feeling though. Oh, uh, I did like the fight between Nolan and his parents, where essentially uh Nolan was trying to uh have his whole speech with the children. That was the crazy part too, when the part when he put his hand on that one child's um head, talking about okay, answer it on you only got one time to answer this correctly. Um about the purge and whatnot, where it's like, so how'd you feel about the purge? And I'm like, Oh, well, the purge made us stronger. I'm like, you know what? Good answer, good answer. Yeah, oh, and those other children just look at it like, oh, you better not slip up.
SPEAKER_02And that's the only when he's like super cadet loyal.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but man, that fight, okay. The fight itself was pretty good. Like it I especially like how it made it seem like, okay, who are these people? And it's like, okay, kind of obvious that it was the his parents, but I like how it kind of buildups where I'm like, okay, uh, he didn't just give us that information right away, so it just kind of uh slow cooked that moment. But uh, it was kind of funny how like his mother was ready to fucking kill him. He was trying to murk him, boy. Yeah, but uh she was like, hey, yo, what's this soft shit trying to spare him? You know, I'm done with both of y'all.
SPEAKER_04I'm out of here.
SPEAKER_01But uh the father, I like how, okay, like I said in the Discord server, Chris, how I'm like, you know what? I see where Nolan gets it from, dude. But with the way he blocked that punch, where it's like Nolan uh in season one, he blocked it like kind of normal. But uh Nolan's father, he kind of did the sideway type shit. Oh, oh, okay, you know, I think I see where he gets it from now. Nah, yeah, I did like that shit. But uh after that, all that ooh, that great purge where it's like all those builders might just drop in, like why? And getting to a point where the whole ring around Bildroom, which is courses.
SPEAKER_03Uh, real quick about the parents, though. Uh the reason why I feel like I don't know if this is explained or not in the comments, I don't remember, but I feel like the mom had true like venom for the the Nolan because of the the societal standards of of Biltrum. It's like you conquer your mate, basically. So in my mind, the dad beat the mom up, probably, and made her the wife. And then they had Nolan, and like you know, she won't fuck with the kid. You can clearly tell she ain't like Nolan by how she was trying to murk him off the bat. Uh, and then she just bails like that. So in my mind, I'm thinking, like, okay, that, and then you know, everything that happens with Anissa later on and like all that shit. Um, it's like a conquering relationship. They're not actually together, it's it's the strongest one, basically.
SPEAKER_01No, no. That sounds like the most political caveman shit I ever heard. Because that's like simply saying, Let me bonk you over here real quick.
SPEAKER_03All right, um, you're the whole society based surrounds strength. So, you know.
SPEAKER_02You see how Noah's mom backhands her dad?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. There wasn't no love behind that shit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this ain't no love to happen.
SPEAKER_02Down spikes in his ass.
SPEAKER_01So uh, yeah. Uh y'all got anything y'all want to add on to all that for the fights? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Dude, personally, I I know this is like everybody has already seen it, everybody noticed it. The impact frame they did for Thrag, like yeah, I love how that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you skipping ahead, Tony. Yeah, going way ahead.
SPEAKER_03I'll set the fight.
SPEAKER_01No, no, I'm talking about between the parents and uh no.
Viltrum’s Brutality And The Purge
SPEAKER_02Like, oh, hold on. My bad, my bad, my bad, my bad. Now with the ring.
SPEAKER_03Literally, shit about to break.
SPEAKER_02I the fight was good due to the fact that the way thing did the jumpings. The jumping.
SPEAKER_01That's crazy that you said that because I was just eating a whole bunch of tostitos with the salsa now, like the something a little too much dip on that chip.
SPEAKER_00Not the Tostito.
SPEAKER_03Oh man, the ring of the bodies was insane, and like knowing that they did it as a reminder, but also no one's going to Viltrum. So no one's gonna see their whole society basically just floating in space. Uh, so it was pretty crazy, and that's like that that that has to be rough, you know what I mean? Like, you you flying through your family and your your neighbors and the kid you grew up with and shit, and obviously they don't have the same like relationships that you know normal people would have just because of their societal standards and the dynamic and everything that they you know use to operate uh as a people, but it was just it was insane to see that they would just discard the bodies, but then realizing that they're not discarding them, they're using them as like uh this is why we do it type thing, you know, in a fucked up twisted way, I guess.
SPEAKER_01It kind of reminds me of that one episode of Rick and Morty where all they were like dumping the bodies at the end of this episode. Yeah, but uh moving on from all that, Thais. I was still geeking that he was voiced by Peter Cole, you know, off his prime and all that.
SPEAKER_03I was too I'd run through a wall for that guy. I'm gonna be so for real. He'd hype me up the hardest, like, bro. That guy.
SPEAKER_01Every time he doesn't speak, I'm like, you know what? I will follow this man down. Okay. Let me let me know.
SPEAKER_02I know this is skipping ahead, but I love that they also do the original voice of Megatron. They have him cast in the case.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. Um, he was Emperor Argyll, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yep, yep.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02But he's gonna be voice acting.
SPEAKER_01But speaking of which, Stadis reveals that he's the betrayer who killed Emperor Argyll and later admits that he created the scourge virus and has an improved version that you know Alan's going to eventually get his hands on once he uh becomes the leader of the coalition of plans. I know I'm skipping a little bit too, but I'm just making it real quick. Uh Mark Eve and the Guardians fight the Flaxons again. You know the ones with the portals. Uh, but as the alien vaders tried to escape, Monster Girl and Robot gets trapped on the other side, and we do not see them again for the rest of the season. So that kind of makes me curious about season five. Go, uh oh. Let me go ahead and drop this right now. The fact that it's confirmed that it's gone from seven to nine seasons, maybe ten, maybe ten, but lock in for another six years of invincible tests that we're gonna get a new season every year at this point.
SPEAKER_03So maybe it just makes sense kind of where we are in the story, is about halfway through. Literally halfway there. Yeah, so it just makes sense that they'll they'll do, and I'm glad that they're gonna stretch it out into more seasons. It's not even stretching it out, in my opinion. Uh, it it's more generational run. Yeah, it's giving it the time to truly breathe and you know be the story that it needs to be without rushing everything.
SPEAKER_01Right, right. And also, you know, they make a whole bunch of different changes compared to the comics. So I'm hoping that they will adapt as much of the canon as possible, but there was also some awkward spaces that we we know, we know, but there's like some awkward spaces in the comments where I'm like, okay, if you get to that point, are they actually gonna do that one moment between Mark and Anissa?
SPEAKER_03Is that actually gonna happen?
SPEAKER_01I mean, I think it needs to happen in some manner because it is super important for the story later on, like imply, like you know, kind of like silhouette type shit, but off screen it or something, yeah, kind of off-screen. Because, you know, if you know if you if you um read the comments, I'm not deep into the comments, but I know a little bit of details. Like it has to happen if we want Terra and Marking. Yeah, it has to happen.
SPEAKER_03Uh I'd be interested to see if they do actually do it though, or how much of it they will do. Because it is, it is, you know, it is a crazy moment, but they do crazy shit all the time. Yeah, ripping faces off and like pulling innards out every five minutes, it feels like so strangely detailed innards, too.
Comic Changes And Future Controversies
SPEAKER_01See, that's what makes it crazy because I'm like, if you get what we seen in the previous three seasons, I'm not gonna spoil because we're not there yet. Like, but compared to what we've seen in the previous uh three seasons, I'm like they might go there, but I just don't know how far they'll go with it. I'm interested to see though, genuinely. How far me gonna push it? We're right there too. Like, you know, hold on, let me try to um get the reason notes so we can just really talk about what we really want to say. So Titan beats with Leeu again with Oliver's help, just end up at a ceasefire, and both of them end up joining the machine heads order, you know, Titan and Lee, not um Oliver, just to clarify. Uh Mark is summoned to hell to assist Damian Dark Blood against uh Volcanica, and Satan secretly orders Dark Blood to investigate Volcanica's motives and considers going to the surface himself. Eve learns that she's pregnant and she tells William about her pregnancy while Debbie plans to move in with Paul. As Eve prepared to tell Mark about the pregnancy, Nolan Allen arrived, telling him that, oh, war is happening. We need you out on the field. Uh a bunch of people was actually kind of upset about William's voice change, but not gonna lie, first time around I watched this season, I did not know this. But second time around, I'm like, okay, okay, yeah, they did change it, but I'm like, dang, he was only there for like that one scene, so it's like, eh, I kind of didn't care enough to make a excuse me to make a puss about it. But uh, that's about it. Uh Mark reluctantly agreed to join the coalition's war against the Bilchermites. Nolan tried to apologize to Debbie who rejects him, and man, that was a very emotional scene. Like that was powerful shit right there. I got hands to Sandra Oak for that because I was like some very strong emotion coming through her voice when she looked at those lines. And Nolan, he was like, Man, he's he was just telling her how sorry he was. And I like how Debbie was like, Yeah, you said that, and you're still here.
SPEAKER_04And bruh, like it just kind of makes me wish.
SPEAKER_01Imagine if this was a black family, and Debbie was like, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. That's all you are knowing, just fucking sorry.
SPEAKER_02You know how fast Scrubs would have been playing, bruh?
SPEAKER_03Oh man. Bruh. Nah, she started punching his chest and shit, and buffed her hand up, like you can tell he he's like trying though. And I will say the voice acting in this show is top-notch. I was just about to say, dude. I love the voice acting in the show. They're actually like dedicated to the characters, it feels like, you know. And it's refreshing when in the modern day, you know, there's not many uh shows or movies that don't have just some famous actor playing a role, uh, rather than some voice actor who knows how to actually, you know, be a voice actor. Um so it's is it's a little refreshing to to have actual effort come from people. It feels like. Whereas like the Mario movie, I didn't really like it because it was just Chris Pratt playing the Mario character. There's no accent, there's no nothing, it's just it's Chris Pratt.
SPEAKER_02Sounds like Chris Pratt, acts like Chris Pratt, you know.
SPEAKER_01That is kind of crazy because I did review that new movie, and I'm like thinking, for the most part, I feel like Mario got sidelined in that movie. It was more like the Peach show slash the Yoshi show. And Bowser Jr. Bowser Jr. was really carrying that movie, not gonna lie. Still gotta watch her. But that was about it. That's all I'll say. Uh oh, yeah. Um, Alan tracks down Zoe Thompson slash tech jacket, who also agreed to join their cause while all the breaks is ongoing as well. The creator for Invincible said the reason why we decided to do the gender swap for tech jacket is that, oh, in hindsight, we just realized, oh, well, you know, we just keep adding all these white guys. So I'm like, okay, so for the uh for the for the show, let's make tech jacket a girl. Because I'm like, you know what? We just can't keep having all those uh samey looking, you know. Basically, he just felt like, okay, way too many white dudes, so let's just have a white girl, another white girl that insert in it. And I'm like, what am I?
SPEAKER_03I wasn't expecting to see Penny Parker, I mean, that's yeah, I'm like Penny Parker.
SPEAKER_01Um, I fuck with her. I fuck for it.
SPEAKER_02It does make me think about what they're gonna do with other characters that come in the comics that look somewhat like Mark.
War Escalation And Conquest Returns
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, hey, no one went back in that backstory. Uh, for a split second, he looked like Mark, but with like I thought it was an alternate dimension mark for about two seconds. Nah, I was like, hold on, why this motherfucker wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. This might be strong. Oh no, for a split second I did, but then I had to really think about it. I'm like, wait a minute, why is he wearing built from my clothes? Wait, wait, this might be no one. Okay, okay, okay. That's crazy. But uh really got strong ass jeans. Now, Eve chose not to tell Mark about the pregnancy due to the impending departure. And after saying goodbye to Eve, Debbie, and Paul, Mark Oliver join Noel and Allen and Zoe aboard the coalition ship. They go into Philistria. Uh, they get ambushed by Vilter Mike Cruiser, and there's Conquest and Luke and Crab on there. Battle ensues, one-on-one fight between Mark and Conquest. Mark is disemboweled by Conquest, but managed to kill him by strangling and asphyxiating Conquest. Pause. God damn.
SPEAKER_03Just goddamn. They got me with that fake out, boy. I thought he was coming back again. I'm be so for real at that end where they did the fucking the still frame on his like burial. I was like, oh no, not again.
SPEAKER_01Oh, oh, that's the one that one frame where uh Concord was ready to swat Oliver's whole block off.
SPEAKER_02He was about to volleyball spike his ass.
SPEAKER_03Yo, they keep they keep like hinting that Oliver is gonna get fucked up at some point.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it kind of happened eventually, but I mean we'll get there, but I mean I hate that they keep teasing that, like, bro, like I'm not ready for Oliver the um bite the duds already. Like, don't tell me, yeah, it's gonna be bad.
SPEAKER_02Dude, the like the fandom is clowning all over throughout all of social media.
SPEAKER_03He's kind of a goober. Let's let's be real. He was he was told to back off, and he, you know, he just he don't listen. He's a little taken.
SPEAKER_02Dude, there's a scene where he's like throwing his hands up and his legs out, like he's like capping shit. And people are saying, dude, take this shit serious. Why are you doing right now?
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. I was sitting there, like, my immediate reaction was that one meme, uh, you know, Captain America, the detention uh video where it's like, so you fucked around and found out.
SPEAKER_03But you, I think there is something lost in all this. Mark and Oliver actually still just children. You know, like Mark is a teenager, but Oliver is a very young people. Oh, well, I think he uh Mark like 20, like, you know, taller. Is he 20 in the yeah? Well, regardless of the fact. 20 years old, and you got that much responsibility, like that's a that's a lot for anybody, let alone someone, you know, of his age. So it especially Oliver, he's being so headstrong and like not listening is because he is a kid. Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, at the very least, I would say they're both green to this shit. I mean, not so much Mark. Like, I mean, Mark has more experience, but he's out a dozen times at least. Yeah, so it's more like at the very least, Mark can tell Oliver what not to do. I can tell you what not to do, but like as far as going up against these building minds, I'm like, hey, just trag carefully don't do anything stupid.
SPEAKER_00Isn't Oliver like three or four?
SPEAKER_01I mean, human-wise, yeah. Technically, yes, but he's like physically. He's also like age because of the strikes and DNA and shit, too, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Like he aged faster than normal. Because he was purple last season, and now he's like an off shade now. He's kind of getting away from that like tinted skin color, and he's kind of rounding into the Viltramite DNA, it feels like.
SPEAKER_00Because it's so pure. I wonder what the percentage is uh for his other brother, so I would assume the same.
SPEAKER_03Well, we do know that the Viltramite DNA overwrites whatever else it is, you know. So it's just what the percentage is, like, like he said, you know, with Mark being almost perfectly Viltramite, is that because of his mom being human and Oliver being a lesser version of a Viltramite? And it was, you know, noted towards the end of the season that he's he's you know, he's not as good. So is it because of his mother's DNA? And it like is a limiter to what he can have?
Thragg Arrives And Viltrum Falls
SPEAKER_01Because uh, I want to have this conversation when we get to that end of the season because I I got something I really want to talk about, but like I want to wait until we get to the ending so like we can really explore upon this. So uh, if you don't mind, I'm gonna go ahead and try to blade through the rest of these notes, and I swear to god, I do have a whole bunch, anyways. So, war is happening, coalition versus Vilcham Empire. Uh, Battle Beast joins. Uh, we got um Conquest being buried. Uh Nolan trains Oliver a little bit as um Marcus Nerf back to help for two months. Alan Zoe gets rescued by Space Racer, who kills Krab. Uh, several other Vilchamites are killed, and the coalition gains ground. Thrak orders a direct strike on Telescreus to kill Thadis by the mole in lower now, plants uh security. And as a Vilchmite strike team attacks the Capitol, Thaedis, Alan, and Zoe uh lead the fight, but are losing until Smart recovers, and Nolan and Oliver Rogers join the battle, so the Vilchamites are ultimately forced to retreat. And after interrogating the mole, the heroes learn that Thrag is retreating to Vilchim to gather his forces. So Thadis plans to pursue him there and strike before all the other remaining Vilchy Mites can return home. Now, thousands of years ago, Thadis assassinates Emperor Augur, like I said before, uh questioning the Viltimites brutality. Uh Thrag is standing the ruler in his place and orders the Bilchramites to fight each other to purge the weak from their society. And in the present time, uh the whole coalition uh traveled with the Viltrum to kill Thrag. They got ambushed again, uh, who hid the ring of corpses and who hid in the ring of corpses and battle erupts uh Thrag and attempt to um kind of convince Nolan to join the Viltromice again, but Nolan rejects him and all of attacks Thrag, but is severely injured. This is the part where Thrag took off his whole jaw and his arm. I'm like so Nolan Derez space raised to fire a laser at Viltrum and is joined by Mark and Thais as they follow into the plant's core, destroying the whole plant. Now, before we get to that, I gotta mention it. I gotta mention it. That one scene where that wind up well hold on, that too.
SPEAKER_03That airbender Detroit Smash type bro created a vacuum just by pulling back, man.
SPEAKER_01Like and um, I gotta do it. That one part, everybody's favorite moment in this whole season where Mark was like, I kill Conquest and I'll kill you too. And Thrag was like, show me in that fucking impact bring, but also Anissa with that look back, that look back she gave him worrying.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, she's got an idea going. My boy. No, she was like, Oh, I got new conquest now.
SPEAKER_02Let me holler at you real quick. I'm trying to see what that did take.
SPEAKER_03Yo, the real deal though. The Viltra Meat, no, bro.
SPEAKER_01Oh, the means the means of that though. Yeah. TikTok and everything.
SPEAKER_02Dude, Lee Pace did such good voice acting with like the mental speaking with the effect on it. I think his voice carried very well through it.
SPEAKER_01Almost like his voice was kind of breaking, where I'm like, bro, I'm getting so fucking sick with this. I'm getting tired of people um thinking that shit's sweet. Like, bro, I kill a conquest or stop fucking playing with me. I'm fucking nice with it. I'm like, oh yeah, show me. Oh since you're so fucking nice with it, show me. Yeah, the impact point. You really are crazy.
SPEAKER_00Since you got your little degree and you know every fucking thing.
SPEAKER_03Nah, show me, teach me. Oh shit. Actions do speak louder than words, so they was loud.
SPEAKER_02Nolan know all about it. He got hit with it.
SPEAKER_03Homeboy leaned into that point. He wasn't worried about that shit.
SPEAKER_01Hey yo, I got a theory. Um once again, I'm I didn't read the comments that deep, but like I got a theory based on the way Thraz was talking to Nolan and shit. Are they related? No.
unknownNo?
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay. I thought so, but I'm like, You're in the right part, but not at the right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you kind of working on some shit, but you're still. That was the right, not the right bloodline.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay, okay, okay. Alright, cool. Uh, where was I with these notes? Uh okay, okay. Yeah, they pretty much destroyed the whole planet. They just demands the Vilchamite to surrender, but Thrag was so pissed off, he fucking blitzed them and ripped his fucking head off. I'm like, God damn.
SPEAKER_02Dude, watching them pull up felt like Cavaliers second after the second game, going to the third. You're thinking LeBron's gonna win. No.
SPEAKER_01Man. Uh uh, what was it? I'm almost losing my place. Okay, okay. So then he disembowels Nolan, beats Mark to the point of near death, but chooses to spare them all due to the Vilchmite's dwindle numbers. So he was like, all right, uh, we're out. So Nolan, Mark, and Oliver were rescued by the others, and the as the coalition named Allen as the leader, and as the coalition to try to figure out where the village might have gone. Mark was like, wait a minute, they're gonna pull up back to Earth.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't know why it took everybody that long to figure out. Like, you just blew up their home planet. Like, where do you think they're gonna go?
SPEAKER_01Because the eye for an eye, you know? They think literally think they were gonna go. It's just logically, it's well my family.
SPEAKER_00I'm blowing up everything, you love literally, bro. I mean you're fucking sink, dog.
Earth Aftermath And Eve’s Choice
SPEAKER_01But that's what they want you to think. That's what you would think, but until we get to this final episode, which we're gonna talk about right now. So they all race that earth, they finance that, you know, that whole dream sequence where you thought they were gonna wreck shit up, but like, no, no, no, that didn't actually happen. Bro, the pull up was crazy. Yeah, man, that was like so cold. So, Mark reunites with Debbie, Eve, his friends, Cecil experiences hallucinations of drag killer. And by the way, it's like kind of like jump scares where I'm like, uh uh, no way, no, uh-uh, this is too convenient. Like, ain't no way you're gonna kill them all that quick. I like, I kind of like how they kind of did that about the last one, and you're like, okay, this one has to be real because, like, come on. That man's been going through it.
SPEAKER_02It made us feel hallucinated.
SPEAKER_01Uh, Nolan revisits the crater that he pummeled Mark and got confronted by seeds who still uh don't trust him. Well, never really trust him in the beginning with. Uh, urges Nolan to get the coalition to arrive quickly if the Vilch Mice arrives on Earth. Eve tearfully informs Mark that she aborted her pregnancy in fear of having to raise the baby alone. And before I go any further, how we feeling about Thick Eve because personally, Eve thick as hell.
SPEAKER_02I'm just no no, they're gonna rule the case. The fact that my boy Mark tapped that immediately.
SPEAKER_00I know back size went crazy.
SPEAKER_03Hey, yo, the jiggles was there, dog. Had to be she had no ass before, nothing came home to a whole new view.
SPEAKER_01Like, that's crazy. No, no, no. Mark was like, damn, Sam, where you get these yams from?
SPEAKER_00I know you know this.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. She was literally like, I'm so sorry I've lost weight. I've just been eating at my parents, and he ain't gonna be able to get it. Yeah, bitch. I love that. You know, I'm just glad you're eating well. Crazy work, big he comes home and they just immediately clap cheeks. Like, bro. I'm hungry too. You don't want to take a shower or nothing? Like, no, no, no, I'm good, baby. That post-war sweat, man. Yeah. Oh my boy then fighting in space and a leotard, and he just comes home and fucking raw dogs it. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, my boy then um, he was on deployment. He needed this one when he got back.
SPEAKER_01He be like that too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I see it. I know.
SPEAKER_01And like, yeah, you know, I'm like, I haven't really been keeping on it. Hey, look here, I don't care about you all that.
SPEAKER_00Just take a before. But about the abortion though, like, is it to abort the baby? Can you can you abortable to my baby?
SPEAKER_03Like, apparently.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, apparently. Bro, you take the baby a break, whatever. People were saying abortable.
SPEAKER_04Oh.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, showed you YouTube to do this.
SPEAKER_02Hey, that's the people saying it, man. That's there, that's the people. Is it crazy? I thought about the title card when he said that's it.
SPEAKER_00No, bro. I thought about that too, man. I'm gonna find that too. You can find it before y'all show it.
SPEAKER_03Please drop it in the group chat. Oh shit, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Drop it in the fucking group chat. Like, oh my god.
SPEAKER_03The internet, man.
SPEAKER_00Gotta love it. My boy is really visible, though.
SPEAKER_01But like, Eve felt like she just wasn't, she was afraid of raising the baby alone. And I'm like, bro, like, the implication that you thought Mark was gonna die out there.
SPEAKER_03I mean, he was going to war with the Voltramites. She saw what happened when he fought Nolan and Conquest and you know, yeah, missile whoops. His ass at some point. Krieg beat his ass at one point. Like, you know, he's been getting beat up by the Vilchabite. So he's been getting peased up by a lot of people. Yeah. He he's very vincible. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00He should change his name.
SPEAKER_03Literally, should change his name. Bro been getting beat the fuck up since he changed it. Ever since he made that his name.
SPEAKER_01I mean, he keeps getting his ass beat, but he keeps getting back up, so he might as well call himself durable.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he ain't here no bad.
SPEAKER_03Yo, swear, man's the dura, uh, what is it? Duracell bunny, like, or energizer bunny.
SPEAKER_01I mean, he ain't that nice with it, but shit, he keeps getting back up. No, no, no. Like, uh, it's like that one family guy moment where it's like uh it was like Mike and Tyson was fighting that one old lady, and she was like getting back up. You going down, young man. I'm like, damn, like she just keep getting back up. I don't know. All right, sir. Uh you know what, man, you got it, man. Like, you know what? I'm just tired of fighting you, dog. We would just tell everybody you got you got it. But uh, let's keep it going. Uh um Debbie goes to Telestria with Nolan to see Oliver while Mark Lee flies up alone at Eve's suggesting, but you can count as threat. Hold on now. I like how Debbie, uh she was like really, like, she's still not really feeling Nolan, but you can kind of tell. Nolan's gonna clap, bro. No, no, no. Like, first of all, when she we when Nolan first came back to apologize and shit, like she, I like how she left the door open, the front door open, and then I was singing um Bruno Mars on silk song. I'm like, I'ma leave that door open. Oh, no, see, that's like hint number one right there. And um I found the photo. Uh, yeah, send it to the um Discord and then I'll send it to uh Club when we get done with all this. Alright. But uh the second thing was the way she was like um willing to let him um fly her up to the ship. And I'm like, all right, fine, you can find me up there, but I'm not gonna enjoy it or anything. You know, that kind of Sundarin type shit where like, uh no, no, no. In fact, I was thinking uh like fucking um that one scene from Family Matter where Steve Urkel was like, I'm wearing you down, baby. Oh lord. I'm wearing you down.
SPEAKER_03Uh uh Bro's gonna crack, man. Let's be real. We're gonna get back together. The the Paul relationship died off screen. Like he he said it to her, like, you're you're a part of this shit. Like, you can't get away from it.
SPEAKER_02Like, I'm sad we're not gonna see any more of Paul, man.
SPEAKER_03No one's gonna crack her ass again.
SPEAKER_02Makes me think that one movie that uh what's it called, Marlon Wayne in. He's like uh where he the the guy smirks at him because like his daughter's black and the guy's white.
SPEAKER_01Oh uh haunted house.
SPEAKER_02No, no, the second one, the second one specifically. I never was this close. That's that type of smirk I expected from him.
Thragg’s Deal And A Deadly Virus
Viltrumite DNA And Power Inheritance
SPEAKER_01Uh hold on, I'm almost done, I'm almost done. And I'm about to get to my um theory right here. Uh Thrag informs Mark that her many villages minds are indeed on Earth and secretly living among the humans to repopulate. He threatens to destroy the planet if they are disturbed, but promise that they will not interfere with human affairs if they're left alone. Mark reluctantly agrees to his terms, and meanwhile, Alan receives a post-war message from Thetis and is instructed to use a perfected scourge virus to eliminate the remaining filter mice, even though it may also be lethal to humans. Now, okay, first of all, if it's perfected, why is it effective on humans? I mean, I I mean, I g I guess just to give it more stakes, but it's like if it's so perfected, I'm just saying. Like, it just kinda gives Alan that position to where he's trying to do the right thing, but he's also being put in a position to where, okay, to just to get rid of all the villager mites, you might have to risk killing off all the humans, too. So that's an interesting twist to that. But my second thing, my main thing that I've been thinking ever since like halfway through this show. If the villager mites are here to pretty much repopulate, you know, get it on with the humans and whatnot, I'm thinking, why not go after the superpower humans? And that way the villager mites will have like a wider range of superpowers, and next thing you know, you'll have literal supermen and superwomen running around with all these different powers and shit. Like if that find duplicate and just occur, get duplicate and multipal, and then you'll have Viltimites that are able to duplicate themselves and they'll just repopulate that way.
SPEAKER_03But does it work like that? Because of the Viltimite DNA being the dominant DNA, like, wouldn't they just override whatever the other parent is? Because, like, with Oliver, his mom's a fucking grasshopper, praying mantis, or whatever she was. It don't look like that. He was purple, but that was as bad as it got for him.
SPEAKER_00Grasshopper and praying mantis is funny as hell. Yeah, that's what she was.
SPEAKER_01She was a bug. She's a bug with titties. Well, that's the thing about genetics.
SPEAKER_04You're a bee, Barry.
SPEAKER_01It might not see, it might be like you said, where the built from my DNA might override it, but then there might be some cases where I'm like, okay, you're such an outlier that somehow you kind of retain your uh human partner's quirk, so to speak.
SPEAKER_03He's been a little since the caveman, you know?
SPEAKER_01So yeah. But no, like, see, I was thinking like because of Tara, because Mark and Eve have eventually have a daughter named Tara. And I'm like thinking, like, I don't know her power set exactly. I might need to look into it.
SPEAKER_03I think she just had, if I remember right, she is just like Viltramite powers. I don't think she has any of Eve's abilities. It has been a minute since I've read the comments, but I I don't remember her having any abilities.
SPEAKER_02No, they they all just get Mark's powers.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So yeah, the Viltramite shit just overrides whatever the other parents' DNA sequence would be.
SPEAKER_01Makes it kind of lame, but I guess they just want to avoid them acting beans. Because here's the thing. I'm gonna say this once again. Like I say this every time I review Invincible every season, every chance I give. Viltermites are basically Kryptonians if they act in white fans. There's Kryptonians without the sun weakness. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Outside of like the scourge virus and just having really, really sensitive ears, they don't really have many weaknesses. And there's like the Space Racer gun and the big old kaiju monsters, I forget what they're called, but yeah, outside of that, they don't have many natural weaknesses.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I'm guessing like they're just trying to avoid them being literal supermen and superwomen. I mean, I guess so, but at the same time, I'm like, uh that would have made any sense to me. So I'm like, why don't I just go after the uh people, you know, like it'll be like a new generation of ghosts from my words, like, okay, they have the usual power, you know, like kind of like the boys, where the suits they have like super strength, super speed, whatever the case may be, but then someone will have like a different ability, like kind of got quirk. It's always like they kind of stand out in a way. But uh, I don't know. Like the hands still work, like as long as they still strong enough to like beat the shit out of people, like that's good enough for us.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yo, the Viltramite Chop is one of the most insane moves I've seen in fiction just because of how nobody else has done it. No, no, no. I call that the Viltramite Hand State Door.
SPEAKER_03As soon as anything gets a little dicey, they just want to spear somebody. Oh, let me fucking make my hand like this. They watched Naruto. That's what it was. They watched the Raikaga, they saw him use his spear and was like, you know what? I fuck with it. He's seen Shidori from Kikashi.
SPEAKER_01God damn. Actually, now I think about it. Do you think Drag watched my hero academia and saw the way all my punch people all like? Hey, yo, that's kind of cool. Let me write that down. He was like watching my hero while he was getting his own fake on crispy and shit.
SPEAKER_02Dude, I like I genuinely don't know how they're gonna make Thrag beatable because of how menacingly strong they made him out to be.
SPEAKER_03They're gonna either have to play armor that shit, or they're gonna have to like scale markup incredibly. Yeah, but there is a long time, like if we're at the halfway point. If what you said is true, JB, and they're gonna stretch it out potentially like nine or ten seasons, we're in season four. So that's that's five, four or five, you know, five, well, five or six more seasons to to build his strength and build his character into you know what he has to become to be able to take out thrag and shit. Because it it's gonna be some hands thrown, but like it just I don't I don't know. They're either gonna have to plot armor that shit, or they're gonna have to, like I said, just scale mark up to an incredible level. But there's a precedent for it with the bloodline and everything and what you learn down the road. So, like, maybe I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I think they're gonna go the typical video game uh route where it's like gonna have a bunch of mini bosses, you know, like the upper crust of the building, you know, uh Craig and all of them. Like eventually, Mark is gonna have to tussle with them uh in order to like kind of get a good scale of where he's at. So where I'm like, all right, so before you go after Thrag, we're gonna see if you're uh can fight uh all those other guys that um roam around. Like you're gonna have to tussle about Nissa and all them. And if you can't beat them, then what's the point of you going after Thrag?
SPEAKER_02Reading the comment and like knowing what's gonna happen is so fucking weird, dude.
SPEAKER_01Oh boy. Like, see, I might not I might have to dive into the comments, but then again, uh if it's anything like the boys, where you know the the comments for the boys was like way worse. So I'm kind of glad that the TV show went into a whole different direction with that. Uh but that's what I'm saying, to where, like, yeah, I might read the comments and might have an idea of what's to come, but that doesn't mean that's gonna be executed into the show. So I'm like, if anything, I kind of like have uh idea of where the going wall is, but like I'm not expecting it to be one for one.
SPEAKER_03And it hasn't been though, they have sprinkled in shit and they've left out a few things, but like for the most part, they've kept it faithful, but they've also not done it one-to-one, like you said, and I don't feel like that is a bad thing, you know. You can tell a story without telling it page for page, and you know, adding in and taking out things as you deem necessary, uh, like like we said earlier with the Viltramite backstory, like we didn't we didn't get that shit for real in the comics, but it was nice to be able to see that, especially you know, in the in the show setting.
SPEAKER_01So, yeah, it just adds perspective to the whole situation to where okay, this is how the building rights have been living for thousands of years. Keep in mind, like the average building right can live for at least a thousand. I don't know exactly how long, but in Nolan about a thousand years old. Yeah, Nolan's cracking a thousand, yeah. So that's what I'm saying. Like his whole season three speech in season one talked about bro, you would be alive for hundreds of years, these people are not gonna matter in the 500 years, and bro hit him with the I'd have you, dad.
SPEAKER_03And I was like, oh shit, I wasn't ready for that.
SPEAKER_01Just imagine that. And now, oh, now that we're season four, I'm like, oh, who you gonna have in like 500 years? Like, well, there's me, you, Oliver, my daughter Tara, Miss Marky, and pretty much any bomb building mic, all that, you know, the old generation impregnated while they were on earth. So that's oh yeah, immortal. Let's not forget immortal. You know, that one episode um season three where he was like the king and Invisible just like left him in jars and shit. And I'm like, where the fuck you been, dog? Like you told me you won't just be patent on the torch to the middle.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, hey dog, bro went to get cigarettes and forgot to be back.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, dog, I gotta lost for my buddy here. Oh, that's funny. But no, dawg. I just love how with each season, the plot gets thicker, the emotions get higher, the violence gets gorier. It's like it's literally like that flaming horse meme where like it just gets better and better from here.
How Do You Beat Thragg
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, I agree. Outside of like the spotty animation, every every few episodes, it feels like, I don't mind it as much, but uh the story is getting better, and you can tell that it's like there's a buildup that's starting to happen, and it's getting bigger and bigger and bigger, you know? Oh yeah, like the final fights are gonna be insane. I'm gonna be old as shit by the time the show ends, bro. I'm 32. This show is gonna be over by the time I'm like 40, man. Oh god. We still want to have GTA 6.
The Invincible Game Side Talk
SPEAKER_01But hey, speaking of fights, how y'all feeling about the Invisible versus video game that dropped?
SPEAKER_03I've seen good things about it. It looks interesting. There's like uh an original story being told through the game, from what I understand. Uh, so that's fairly interesting. Um, I'm wondering if they're gonna be able to do it. There is a lot that they can do. You know, it is a big universe, they there are a lot of characters, uh, there are a lot of paths. I want to know what's up with them outfits that they was wearing. Oh, the uh the red and black. Yeah, what y'all got that shit on for, man? Yeah, I'm like, I need to know because that's it. Yo, literally.
SPEAKER_02There's a bit of controversy going on because one of the voice actors, Alex Lee, has been used in so many things as of recently. People are getting upset. But when I first seen the trailer for it, I thought it was Stephen Ewan.
SPEAKER_03People are gonna complain. People are gonna find shit to complain about. You give them a gold brick and they're gonna tell you they want to. You know, so like it just fuck them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they've been giving shit to a lot of people that's been getting a whole bunch of work lately. I mean, look at um actresses like Sydney Sweeney and we we know why Sydney's getting these roles.
SPEAKER_03Let's be real, let's be real reasons, bro. Yeah, too big.
SPEAKER_00He's got a hella talent, so much talent, bro.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there's a lot of upper talent. Um looking at that talent, crazy work, you know, but uh yeah, no. I there there it's to an extent, I understand it because like you look at shit like the the Super Mario movie that I was talking about earlier. Yeah, like Chris Pratt is in every fucking thing, it feels like. So is uh Luigi's voice actor, Charlie Day. Like he's in a fuck ton of shit. Like, they just kind of hold on, hold on, real quick.
SPEAKER_01Um for starters, I did like how, at least with Charlie Day, it's like, okay, I'm not expecting Luigi to actually sound like that, but at least I can tell that was Charlie Day voice in Luigi. I couldn't do that.
SPEAKER_03There was more effort put into Luigi than Mario by Chris Pratt in my mind.
SPEAKER_01Right. Now, nothing against Chris Pratt, but uh it's funny that you brought him up because uh if y'all don't know, I love how Professor Tutches keeps going in on Star Lord. You know what uh he did in um fucking Infinity War. I'm like, bro, like all you had to do is just let it be what it is, yeah.
SPEAKER_00There would have been no need for another movie.
Endgame Re-Release And Split Endings
SPEAKER_01Bruh. Oh, check this out. Now I'm not bringing this up. The fact that they're going to uh bring Endgame back into theaters, but gonna have new scenes, new context, and all that. So I'm like kind of curious where they're gonna go with that shit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, why don't we do why would they do that?
SPEAKER_03Might have to come back home and watch it again, JB. I'm gonna for sure watch it though. Yeah, we're gonna have to watch that shit when it came out with Spence. And uh that shit, bro. That shit was good, man. Like, you know, Endgame was good, but I feel like Infinity War was the better movie. Yeah, because the build-up in Endgame was just the like, hey, listen.
SPEAKER_01When I went to talk Infinity War, right? I went in that theater, I'm gonna think, like, okay, this is kind of cool, this kind of hype. And then you get to the ending, and he's like, wait. Is that it? So I gotta sit for a whole year half the captain.
Harry Potter Reboot Casting Argument
SPEAKER_03I'm like, God damn. It's the beef I have with me. It's the beef I have with movies and like adaptations to where they split like the Harry Potter movies were split, the final movie or book was split into two movies, and part two suffered in my mind, because part one was all of the buildup, and part two was the payoff, and that was it. You know what I mean? And it just it doesn't feel rushed, but it doesn't feel necessary either. Like you I understand the process or the the the concept of like it's a it's a big enough story, but like do you need like four and a half, five hours to tell a 700-page story? You know, it just it felt like a cash grab. And Harry Potter started it and then fucking Twilight did it, and then Homer. Hey, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00Let's lay off Harry Potter now.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, hold on. I'll I'm I grew up watching Harry Potter and reading the books. I love it, but the seventh movie and eighth movie were kind of buns to me.
SPEAKER_00No, it was lore from the book.
SPEAKER_03They also skipped a lot of shit. Like, bro, broke the wand. Or no, he didn't even break it, he just threw that bitch. Like, he could have fixed his wand, like he did in the books, but he didn't. It just didn't make sense. And I also hated how long.
SPEAKER_00He didn't fix his wand, he fixed his wand. Oh, they might have skipped over that. But he fixed his own one and then he did the same thing. And he threw it, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's fine, but I I feel like him not fixing his wand was kind of I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. But that I mean that's why they're remaking it.
SPEAKER_03I don't like the idea of the remake. I'm gonna be super real.
SPEAKER_00Oh my lord. They need to be, they need to be more toward the book. Voldemort.
SPEAKER_03Can't say you're gonna have uh a book accurate bro. I don't wanna sound like that guy, but you can't say you're gonna have a book accurate fucking show and then cast the main bad guy. He's Aries Ott from the first sight. He's gonna cast him as a black dude.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy. I like that.
SPEAKER_00Why do it matter though?
SPEAKER_03Because, all right, the way I look at it, right, is he's described in the books as a greasy ass white dude, right?
SPEAKER_00And he don't know say he's white. He just says he's greasy with a food.
SPEAKER_03How many black people do you know that have sallow skin? Let's be real.
SPEAKER_00Black people can have sallow skin. All kinds of black people, black person with sallow skin.
SPEAKER_03Harry gets to the dinner in the first book. Harry can be black too, though. It doesn't make sense, though. There is a press how many black folk you know with green eyes and brown hair. I know black people with green eyes. And brown hair.
SPEAKER_00I don't know about the brown hair, but green eyes for sure.
SPEAKER_01It just it for some reason I'm thinking Smokey Robinson, but I don't think that's right.
SPEAKER_03Let's see, there is a precedent. My grandma had blue eyes. There's a precedent for it. I get that. But you can't claim book accuracy and then just change characters just for the sake of it.
SPEAKER_00You can you can do book accuracy and and also change characters like they didn't.
SPEAKER_03I've heard rumored that Baltimore is gonna be a woman. That doesn't make any sense.
SPEAKER_00It can be, I mean, Voldemort can be a female.
SPEAKER_03It don't it really don't have to be a hold on because it doesn't make sense because in the second book, there's the whole meeting in this chamber, right? And he draws out his name with the wand, and it's a marble riddle, yeah. Yeah, what the gold can be a little bit more than a big thing, some androgynous ass individual, like this chick is just a dude in her own skin or something. It just doesn't feel right.
SPEAKER_00A female can play a male character, though.
SPEAKER_03It feels like a cop out. They're pandering, it feels like.
SPEAKER_00It's not pandering. The thing about books is books can be seen as different. It's the perception of the book. You can be book accurate and not stick to the same character. You can have it literally any anything, because the books is a book, it doesn't have any color.
SPEAKER_03No, but when you're given a physical description of a character, you you just change it just for the sake of changing it, it feels cheap.
SPEAKER_00Well, then for the most part, no books need to be adapted in any movies because most books was written by white people to make white characters. Black people weren't even allowed to read no books. I don't know. It's Harry fucking Potter.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know Harry Potter was that sensitive of a subject, man. I love Harry Potter. I would've never said my goddamn, I would have never said my house. I would have been like, damn. What house you in? I got a raven claw, cuz. Oh hell yeah, Ravenclaw, baby.
SPEAKER_00All that fucking wit. Nobody cares about y'all wit. It's all about bravery, cuz.
SPEAKER_02Hey, Summer and Ravenclaws was brave as hell and tough.
SPEAKER_00That is true. That is definitely true.
SPEAKER_02Plus, we just got purple. Purple's a hard ass color.
SPEAKER_01It is raw color. Bro, that's crazy because I like purple. Wow, I'm thinking. JB, purple.
SPEAKER_03Brother, the colors are navy blue and bronze. What are you talking about, J?
SPEAKER_00There is no purple. I specifically remember.
SPEAKER_02I specifically remember navy blue and purple. No, it's navy blue in the books.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's navy blue and gold, and the symbol is an eagle. In the movies, it's navy blue and silver, and it's a raven.
SPEAKER_00Whip beyond measuring man, greatest treasure.
SPEAKER_03Make my hair tie though. No, because uh Slytherin is emerald and silver. Uh uh uh Gryffindor is garnet and gold, Hufflepuff is black and like gold, and then uh Ravenclaw is navy blue and gold. That's weird.
SPEAKER_02I specifically remember purple. I don't know why.
SPEAKER_03You might be like recalling the movies because the movies, for some reason, did not do an accurate Ravenclaw like symbol or chip crest or whatever you want to call it, and that's why they're remaking it. It genuinely pisses me off because I I've been a Ravenclaw since the Pottermore like site has been around, so I've been sorted into that house forever. And my girl is a Hufflepuff, and she'll buy us like Harry Potter stuff, and hers is always accurate because it's the badger, and you know, he's got the gold and the black and all that. You know what?
SPEAKER_02You know why I thought it was purple? The black and the blue. If I was I because when I watch these movies, I was high as hell. The black and the blue looks purple to me.
SPEAKER_04Jesus, but no, like I said you're kind of green.
SPEAKER_01Yo, I was literally just thinking like this man is just colorblind and he doesn't know the way they do the robe, it's like for the most part, it was blue, but maybe they have like purple scars or something underneath, kind of like kind of complement the blue. I can kind of see that, but it was always blue, like amazing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Either way, still a good color.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it is a good color. It's a great color.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. I don't know. I don't think a reboot was needed. We could have told a different story. I would rather see the founding members, you know, build Hogwarts or something like that. I would like to see that. I would say the same Harry Potter story that I've read, I don't even know how many times. Yeah, I've watched, I don't know how many times.
SPEAKER_01Bro, honestly, we're gonna be hold on, hold on. Since we're gonna be talking about the boys anyways, and with Bot Rising coming out, all I'm saying is they could have done something to where, okay, let's let's make this Harry Potter spin-up about the founding uh members of the houses and go to Bart Rising way to where like you can do like a murder mystery in between then, you know, like the origins, like kind of build up another.
SPEAKER_03That could have been a very interesting story because we don't know what happened.
SPEAKER_00I would rather the marauders, like that'd have been dope.
SPEAKER_03I don't really care for the marauders as much as everyone else does, they're not as interesting of a group to me. They were bullies, bro. They were genuinely just it would have been good, though. They hung Snape up in a tree, bro. I want to see Snape just fucked up, and that's also another thing that I have like an issue with is in the flashbacks for Snape, he's getting hung up in a tree by James. So we're just gonna be okay with the black guy getting hung up in the tree by a white dude. Like, no, no, no, hold on.
SPEAKER_01You just reminded me. You just reminded me uh SNL. They did a skit with uh, I don't know if it was the same dude, but they pretty much um referred to this where it's like, so really, you're gonna have the only black dude in the whole thing, well, except for that one little black boy, you're gonna have the one black dude who's not even a book to talk about leaf. Yeah. So everybody you keep accusing the one black guy, all right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and that's what I was alluding to when I was talking about the initial dinner. When Harry locks eyes with Snape, in his mind, he's like, Oh, this dude's my op. Yeah, this dude's emo. This dude's my op. So you're telling me that this scans the room and he locks eyes with the black guy, and he's like, you know what? There's something about this guy. I don't I don't quite know what it is, but I just don't like him.
SPEAKER_00That's why they need to have more black people then. Just need to have more black people.
SPEAKER_01I mean, yeah, if they add more characters that were black, fine. I'll leave it alone.
SPEAKER_00But I'm sure that's making a real bad because it it was like three black people in the in the original.
SPEAKER_01I mean, if you can't say Hermani, because her money's gonna be black, okay, fine. But there's gonna be there's gonna need to be a little bit more than that. It was like you're basically saying that, oh, because you have Hermani as a black girl, it's like, oh, well, we're not totally racist. Hermani's black, also, like a black.
SPEAKER_03I can't be racist. Oh, like, man, my brother is black. Like, bro, stop it. My neighbor 10 houses down is black. I can't be racist. Like, oh, okay, yeah, that's cool. I listen to so and so. Yeah, literally. I've heard two little Wayne songs in my life. I can't be racist. I like black people. Like, nah, bro, stop. My favorite invincible characters, bulletproof.
SPEAKER_01They they let me on come to the cooker all the time. I'm like, and for what? Just to um bring the plates or some shit? I know you're not getting on the grill. Oh god. Okay, okay, for real long.
SPEAKER_02We got very far away from the main topic. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like, yeah, I pulled Harry Potter for 2020.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. Chris, Chodie, let me officially welcome you to the zone podcast. Yeah, man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the tangents since fucking wait, you started the pod in what 2020? Yes, no, no, it's 2021. Was it 21? I remember in 2020 we were talking, and you were talking about like starting one up. Uh, and you know, I had planned on being available for it whenever, but you know, just circumstance and life just kept me from doing it. But like being where I am and being as established as I am now, like I have the ability to, you know, join in and you know, you you be in the the server and shit. You you see, I be gaming. I try to enjoy myself now more than I have.
SPEAKER_02Crazy thing is I wouldn't even been here if I didn't even play the game. I didn't play Marvel Rivals.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Literally met Choji through Rivals, and now he's coming to my baby shop. Yep.
Season 4 Ratings And Final Takes
SPEAKER_01Hell yeah, God love it. Well, with that being said, um, I do need to talk to both of y'all after this, like, you know, as soon as we wrap up about all some stuff. But uh, other than that, Invincible Season 4, time for ratings. Uh not gonna lie, I wanna say a nine. Because, you know, like we said with the animation nitpicks, that was the only thing. And maybe episode four, I'm like, the timing of the episode, I'm like, you know, I would have liked it if it was like season two, season three, and we had like this little um side quest here. I'm like, okay, fine, but like, you know, we're about to update the episode, right? Yeah, it like, yeah, it was the hell episode.
SPEAKER_03And on its own, fine, but it was just the timing of it to where I'm like, Yeah, it was kind of thrown in there in the middle of a lot of other shit happening, and it it just kind of felt like a tonal shift, and then it just immediately went back to the original like main plot. Because now it kind of felt thrown in.
SPEAKER_01Because now, not that the building mice are oh no, no, hold on. I like how uh Thrag, like I know I said what I said, but I was gonna do a whole bit to where uh Thrag, he's gonna tell Mark, yeah, us blowing up your planet. Oh, you think that would be the easy part? That would be the easy thing that we even think we would do. No, no, no, no. No, no. No, no, no. Not just make them suffer, but look, tell this out. Follow me, follow me. We live here now. We live here now. We're gonna uh mingle with your people, we're gonna breed with your people, and just gonna let it happen. Because uh, if you got a problem with it, just come pull up and find out what happened. I mean, think about it. You literally hit me five times and I didn't even play.
SPEAKER_03So you can literally face much his ass away from him.
SPEAKER_01So uh you're gonna let this happen and you're gonna agree to these terms, or we just blew up the planet right now. But I'm trying to let y'all live, and uh, I mean, after all, you blew up our planet. The only thing, I mean, you kind of owe us at this point, dog. Like, come on, you kinda owe us.
SPEAKER_02I love how much emotion Steven Ewan really put into that, like, conflict between his own self.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Like, he really did, he he really wanted to say no, but knowing what Thrag is capable of, I'm like, damn, dog, do I even have a choice? I'm like, nah, you don't. He didn't have a choice. And I'm like, if I was Thrag, as soon as he said yes, I would have told him, and you see there, Mark? That's the smartest thing you ever did. No, it's a real condescending shit. Because I'm like, yeah, because like we I know you can't beat my ass. So I'm like, man, out of all the things you did, that's the smartest thing you did. Just let it be what it is. But no, rating, I give it a nine. Outside of um the animation and the timing of episode four, it was built ass all season.
SPEAKER_02I will say my thing with episode four, it redeemed itself because they used really good licensed music.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes. I did like uh it was crazy how I heard a doji song in between. I'm like, oh wow, okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that kind of surprised me. Yeah, I'm not usually a fan of shows or movies using licensed music, but it it was alright.
SPEAKER_01Honestly, the only time I liked I really liked it was I think it was the season two premiere, or maybe the season three premiere, where Mark was just flying around um doing like small stuff, and they had karma police by radio head on. And I'm like, you know what? This song kind of hits. Yeah. But that's about it.
SPEAKER_00I give it an eight.
SPEAKER_01An eight?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't um it's because of the pacing. And I like the scientific accuracy to how long the intestines is because it will show you how long that motherfucker.
SPEAKER_03He kept pulling. I mean, he kept going to get new intestines.
SPEAKER_00He's like, damn, this motherfucker got any intestines left. He's gonna have a stomach. Like, oh my nose.
SPEAKER_02I'd say a solid nine as well. It and I wasn't I enjoyed it. I didn't have many nitpicks, very solid. The pacing was a little off, but I enjoyed the the the little the little points to redeem itself because of how awkward like the pacing was.
SPEAKER_03Uh for me, I'd say probably about eight five simply because of the fourth episode. It did derail the story a little bit for me. Uh, it redeemed itself, but it just like you said, it felt out of place. Uh, it it felt like a story that could have been told in an earlier season, uh, but wasn't for whatever reason. Um I enjoyed it, but uh yeah, the episode four kind of killed it a little bit for me, but the season overall was exceptionally good.
SPEAKER_01Good to gear, good to gear. So I would say on average, about eight point five for season four. Sounds quite right. Yeah, yeah, he sounds about eight point five, maybe a generous nine, we'll say. So, what that means nine with the bag on its head. Yeah, I'm kind of like, oh, that one thing from scary.
SPEAKER_03Turn the lights off, and it's nine. Uh hey, bro, like just keep the bag on. You keep going on the movie. Hey, bro, I forgot all about that shit. Bro, clap the poltergeist.
SPEAKER_02The ring girl, bro.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god. No, the ring girl was in the third movie. Yeah, that was uh the second one was literally she was like the mistress or something in the uh in the in the shit. Shorty clapped her ass, though.
SPEAKER_01That was yo, you know what? I'm glad that you said that because you know what? I can't wait to talk about scary movie six when that's oh man, I'm actually super stoked.
SPEAKER_03And I feel like it's gonna be a good movie simply because of how offended people were within the first last movie. No, no, no, I'm gonna be afraid to get offended. Get ready to get offended. Absolutely. You know what? I read the movie. Once the Wayans lost control of this the scary movie, you know, series, that's when the movies became shit. I haven't enjoyed one past the second one. I didn't like the third one or the fourth one. I think there's a fifth one, but I don't even remember watching it. Honestly, well, obviously there is a fifth one because there's a sixth coming out.
SPEAKER_01No, that's the crazy part because uh the third one was all right, like you know, like if you're in the movie for it, fine. Fourth one, and the fifth one, I didn't watch it, but crazy enough, that's the only one that didn't have Ann Ferris in. Instead, they had Athletic Tiss in. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, I definitely didn't watch it. See, I didn't even know about all that. Yeah, it was almost like the heavy hitters was wasn't even in that movie. It's almost like, yeah, you know what, we gotta make a scary movie, but like the original cast is just not showing up, but like they showing up for the sixth one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because I I think what happened is the Wan brothers got access to their story again. Either that or they just bullied the studio into letting them, you know, write this movie. Uh, and that's why I feel like the first two were as good as they were, because they were the ones writing it, they were in the story, you know. It just, I don't know. The other ones kind of felt cheaper, and it spawned a bunch of other spoof movies like We Are Spartans and Disaster movie, and they just they didn't do well in my mind. Like, they were just not good movies.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's like you gotta be like Jilly where I'm like, I could I gotta get high as hell to watch that damn movie and you gotta eat like 200 milligrams of fucking gummies just to enjoy it.
SPEAKER_03The first two, no, I don't need it for that. Uh those nah, those are super solid movies, bro. I've I've re-watched those movies uh with my old lady. She had never seen them, but I had watched those movies with her within the last I think three months, and I died laughing. Like I was crying a little bit because it was so funny. Like, I I genuinely in the first one or the second one when Anna Ferris is on the way to the like scary house or whatever, and she's singing that song, and Britney comes over and she's like, Hey bitch, shut the fuck up. Like, let me sing my song, like that shit killed me, bro.
SPEAKER_01Nah, it's all with the dinner scene for me where they were just roasting this shit out of the buttons. Oh I got deal.
SPEAKER_02Grab my strong hand.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh, man. I like dog, like something at least put on a glove.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, something like that. This is what he did with the turkey that pissed me off. I'ma be real. Man, did not have to do all that. Licking it into shit. Like the way you were looking into, I'm like, I don't even know what this is, but I'm gonna stick my tongue in it. Uh dog, you don't need my germs and put his whole fucking meat claw in the fucking oh my god.
SPEAKER_01Now, at that point, I would have been like that too. I'm like, you know what? I'm out. Yeah, I'm good.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna go order some Burger King or something, dog. Alright, can we DoorDash? Like, this shit ain't it.
SPEAKER_01Rumor. No, no. In fact, as soon as the pizza comes, make sure we Don't answer the door. Like, I don't want me to be able to get it.
SPEAKER_03Lock his ass in the basement with the poltergeist.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'm taking my city to my room until that way I know my city's not fucked up. Like, almost ruined my whole appetite with all that shit.
SPEAKER_03Jordy gets rolled up in smoke. That shit was hilarious.
SPEAKER_02Or when they cut his brain open in this Beetlejuice.
SPEAKER_03Man spot a fucking parrot because he talked shit about his mom.
SPEAKER_02Hmm.
SPEAKER_01Good lord. As we go back to the name. No, no, hold on, hold on, hold on. We didn't even review any of the scary movies yet. I wanted to, but no, none of them yet.
SPEAKER_03But we're here for the first two.
Closing Plans And Sign-Off
SPEAKER_01First, four and five. I'm good on that. Alright, so check this out. Uh when we do it, I'm just gonna like blaze through three, four, and five. So I'm like, it's the context. But outside of that, we're mainly gonna be talking about one, two, and six. So when that time comes, I'll hit y'all up. But uh, we need to wrap this up for real because we're going way off the end now. So, with that being said, Chris, Choji, Professor Tuck, thanks for being on the show with me. And to the listeners, thank you for listening to us babbling to the end. Uh, go ahead and have yourself a good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night. But ultimately, do stay nerdy and remember that great things are coming. We got a whole bunch of plans that we're trying to roll out. Uh, I'm trying to uh lock in on some better money so that way I can do some funding to get the website um out of construction phase and get it back up going. Uh, we got merch that we're gonna be adding on. We're gonna be doing more podcasts. We're trying to do YouTube, we're gonna expand more to TikTok, try to get some of these sound bites, like give you little like samples of our bullshit of this podcast on TikTok. Uh we're gonna be doing a whole bunch of shit. So it's not just podcasts. We're gonna be out there. We're gonna try to be out there in the conventions and doing a whole bunch of uh cool shit. But like I said, stay nerdy, stay with us, but ultimately, take it easy. We are zoning out of here.
