Wistoria's Wand and Sword (Season 2): Will's "Courage" and Trials in The Tower
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A single exam question can be a weapon, and Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 makes that painfully clear. We jump into our full Season 2 review with Hero Pendragon and talk through why Will’s journey hits so hard: he keeps saving people, keeps leveling up, and still gets treated like he doesn’t belong.
We break down the biggest story turns, starting with Edward’s “What is magic?” trap and how gatekeeping shapes the academy from the inside. From there we get into the Terminalia event, the monster attack that flips the city into survival mode, and the moment Will has to dig into his own memories to reclaim what was sealed away. When Will finally names his magic as “courage,” we talk about why it sounds simple but plays out like a full-on power reveal, especially with the fifth element mystery hanging over everything.
Then we head up the tower where endorsements, colors, and factions turn progress into politics. We talk Kreutz’s hater behavior and why he’s more dangerous than a bully, Zeo’s close-combat mage style, and the hype of Elfaria vs Zio as one of the season’s cleanest magic fights. We also call out the wild tonal shift of settling a major outcome with rock paper scissors, plus our theories about Mage Queen Mercedes, Finn, and what Will might really be.

Welcome And Season 2 Setup
SPEAKER_02What up gang? It's the Zone Podcast back at it again with another review. Today's topic is the story of Wand and Sword, Season 2. And with me, we do have Hero Penins Dragon, so let's go ahead and zone in on it. So, since we already talked about season one, we're just gonna tip three bullshit and start talking about the plot before even get into that. What's your initial impression of well your spoiler-free impression of the seasons?
SPEAKER_00Uh so far it was it was pretty good. Um my memory's a little hazy on some of the beginning episodes, but overall I I do remember how you know it was it was pretty nice in the beginning, and then it got really crazy, basically, for like the whole town and everybody. So we turned over real quick, not too long after. But uh in a sense, I kind of kind of still suck to see you know Will being given a hard time, you know, given his capabilities, not even after proving himself so much. But uh is what it is. So he still has to keep going at it. But it was very interesting though to pretty much see how you know that transformation went right with the uh you know weeks and whatnot, that that ability where his character is white, and uh, or the ability overall, really, where he can use it. And I'm mostly interested in characters like pretty much Finn. Like he he draws my attention and can't remember his name at the moment, but basically uh Will's Will's teacher, his mentor, uh, curious about him too, because there was that one part of the episode where he just got severely injured, like so bad to the point where he he pretty much was truly dead on the spot. But oh yeah, uh, and you know, and Finn just had me told him his pulse will be back, and I'm sitting like, what does he mean his pulse is gonna be back? Anybody would have died from that, but I guess there's more to him. So, yeah, there's so many kids.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, bro, he has a hole in his chest, the size of a war melon. What are you fucking the fuck you talking about pulse for?
SPEAKER_00That's what I was like thinking, and I was like, okay, so there's obviously more to him than meets the eye. And uh like pretty much everybody is on my radar, and it it it's quite insane. And and then towards the end too, just kind of you know skipping through it a little bit for you know Will to get through that exam, how he got help controlling his weeds and whatnot. I gotta say, uh that one guy on, you know, part of the Maggie Evanders jail, I really, I I really respect his views and pretty much his philosophy of just like saying screw it. Like I I love his style of just going through it all, you know, screw doing stuff by the book all the time, screw all that thinking. And even his respect actually towards the dwarves, because most people actually will look down on dwarfs because of the you know system and again the society they have built up. But the guy like Theo is like he's just simple, simple and straight to the point. He's like, if you're basically useful and you're a resource, then why not? You know, it's who cares? You're as long as you're useful, I mean, let's get it. And it's interesting to see how he clashes with uh some of the other Maggie fan because I'm like, I I mean, I agree with this guy. It's like if you're prideful and trying to stand by all the other shit that they have going on. If you have a resource, you know, that you want to use to use it. I mean, I I I can respect the other, he's already one of my most favorite characters.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00I feel that. Overall, though, um the the season ended on a pretty good note, and um I'm pretty much looking forward to season three to the point where it almost had me wanting to crack open the manga for him. I'm just like, nope, I'm gonna wait. I'm I'm actually gonna wait on this one because I want to see how it plays out. Yeah, I see.
SPEAKER_02And speaking of playing now, let's go ahead and um break down these episodes. So episode one was mainly Will gearing up for the final so he can finally graduate from the academy and take on the tower, right? But his teacher, Edward, was like, nah, I'm gonna set him up for failure. So I'm gonna make this test real uh easy. I mean, not real uh easy, but like real simple. And it was like some, it was almost like some
Spoiler Free Impressions And Standouts
SPEAKER_02narrative type shit to where like you know the written exam for a tuning exam, to where it's like all the other questions meant nothing compared to that final answer. But with Edward, it was just only the one question. And essentially it was, what is magic? And a lot of the students could answer that, but Will knew from jump that, oh no, he did that up, he he did that to set me up. So it's it's one of those things where it doesn't matter how good Will's answer is, it wasn't gonna be good enough. So Edward plan to fail him regardless. But here's what pissed me off is bad enough that it pissed me off that he was trying to fail Will, mainly because it was like I almost here's the thing, like remembering that for a minute Edward reminded me of Professor Snake from Harry Potter. But my thing was Edward was just trying to protect Will, and he kept saying that that was the main thing that made me mad. Not just that, oh, he just wanted to make sure that Will doesn't turn out like him. It made me more annoyed when he repeated that like two more times, and I'm sitting around like, bro, he's not you though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's not. I I didn't see where he's trying to go with that, but it's like he's not.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I'm like, you just gatekeeping him because this perception that, oh, uh, whatever happened to me is probably gonna happen to him. I'm like, you don't know that for uh for sure. I'm sorry, do you have future side or something? Unless you do, unless you're a fucking nine eye from my hero academia, I doubt it. Like, give the boy a chance. Like, come on. I mean, and even if something happened, I'm like, hey man, like at least I wanna say it's better to try and fail than to not be given a chance to try. Yeah, I agree. But that was pretty much the vibe I got from episode one, aside from, you know, turns out that okay, even though uh Will pretty much failed to get all the credits that he needed to graduate, the whole uh what do they call it, uh, Terminalia event with pretty much their verge of New Year's, where they renew the barrier that's on uh regardless. But then those two guys, uh Mars and Hetless from season one, oh, they kind of hijacked that um event, and you have all these monsters uh called Donaboruses uh being teleported into the city, attacking uh indiscriminately and all that whatnot. So essentially Will and all the other wizards trying to fight off these monsters. And keep in mind the Magia Volunder, since they did the event, their magic is at their weakest. They can still do magic, but they're not as strong as they uh could be, as we're probably gonna see later in the season. So they were just pretty much sitting ducks, and Lord Aaron just made them uh wait it out. Um and pretty much will try to do his best with his wee's ability, but you know, with Rossy, his roommate, quote unquote dying. Because yeah, like he Rossi died, but we find out later that he's non-human. So he Rossi pretty much like one of the watchers, like kind of like Finn and Iris, where he's just kind of watching over Will. And I kind of feel like Rossi was a plant to begin with, especially with the way they set it up, the like the backstory where after Rossy died, they kind of showed us how Will met Rossi and the way Rossi was talking. It's almost like he was set up to look after Will the whole time. You know, like okay, Will needs a little friend to give him a little bit of hope and whatnot. I feel like that was like set up by Mercedes or something like that. Yeah, that's just my theory right now. Um, and then Workner, uh Will's favorite teacher, he was doing his best, but he had that big old watermelon-sized hole in his chest, and he was like, don't worry, you just put a band-aid on, we're gonna be fine. I was like, man, what?
SPEAKER_00Like, damn, how do you how do you lift through that? Like, what the hell?
SPEAKER_02But then Finn, Finn was giving some, giving Will some uh talking no juices, some motivation, and it was like he had to dive into his memories and rediscover his abilities like for his one time. Because that was the thing, like they had to wipe his memories later, so that way he just can't like pop that off whenever he wants. He gotta like mature into that ability, he got learning on his own. So it's more like, okay, for this one time gonna remove your limiter, so to speak. So you need to remember uh that you actually do have magic, but the way it's set up to where you um got into an accident trying to protect El Faria from that one wolf monster with the one arm and uh crystal coming through his on chest, and it created that scar that's blocking your magic. So you need to remember your magic. What is your magic? You know the name of your magic. What is it? Tell me, and then Will's like courage, and I thought it was kind of cool, but at the same time, you know, you want to know what my immediate reaction to that was? I was thinking I was thinking of that one uh guy that was hanging out with Deadpool in the Deadpool moves. Um I wanna say uh,
Edward’s “What Is Magic” Trap
SPEAKER_02you know, the taxi driver guy, uh, where he didn't have any powers and whatnot. And he wanted to do on the uh X Wars with uh all the other people, Domino and whatnot. And then Deadpool was like, what's your power again? He was like, courage. And then he's like, oh, that's that's adorable. I'm like, I want, but nah, with Will, it ain't that adorable when you like going God speed killer on all these fucking Donaburos, yeah, you know, usually the one trial, yeah. So he was doing all that, he pretty much proved himself to the academy and the capital that he can actually be useful for something. And they were like, hey, yo, you know what? Since you pretty much discover your own magic and you have the technical credits for what you need, I'm like, you know what? Good enough. Congratulations. You graduated from the academy, gives you a diploma, and you get to go up to the tower.
SPEAKER_00Yep, only for them to just be like, well, only for a certain individual with classes to stand in the way again. Hated that guy.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Alright, let's go ahead and get into that. So, oh uh, before we do all that, let's keep in mind that uh sometime after Will was born, the Mage Queen um Mercedes made a pat with Finn, entrusting him to develop Will into a source man capable of using the quote unquote fifth element to save the world from the celestial host while Mercedes develops many wands. Just keep that in mind going forward because like my theory is at this point, Will is Mercedes' son. I don't know who the father is, but it's like you come on, like the way it was set up to where, like, okay, Mercedes just happened to have this child, like Yeah, I think so, new. What's going on? What's going on with Will? Like, who's the father? Like, um, I kind of wish it's moments like this that kind of make me wish uh Jerry Springer was still on. It's like just imagine, like like either Jerry Springer or Maury or something like that, where it's like you have uh Mercedes just out on um in one of the tears, and then you have Maury in his chair, and then you have Will on the fucking screen.
SPEAKER_01Oh god.
SPEAKER_00He's just sitting there all innocently and everything. He has no idea what's going on.
SPEAKER_02Uh well, anyways, yeah, he and 49 other people, you know, including the main set, uh Scion, Colak, uh Sirius, I think his name was is that name? Um no, Julius, my bad. It was Julius. You know, the main people. They all go up to the tower, but they find out that, okay, first of all, everybody get these colorless, this colorless drip, which is looking kind of good. It's not bad, not bad. But uh, the thing was, the significance behind that is you have to get a color from one of the factions in the tower, otherwise, you can't ascend any further or become a magic of bonder. Uh, otherwise. And, you know, it's kind of like whole endorsement type thing. Some people got endorsed right away. Some folks had to fight for to prove their worth, as uh that one which uh Claire Sarah said, you gotta prove your worth. And Will, Julius, and a few others didn't get a color. But man, when Will proved himself when fighting those golems, most of the factions, aside from uh Zio's and I think Cruz um faction, I'm not 100% on that. Most of them were like, oh, whatever juice you want, I'm gonna need that. They pointed out one time real quick, like, hey, hold on, I need that on my team. And then um Zio was like not sold on at first, but Cruz was like being the number one hater. Like, nah, we can't have someone like this amongst our rents. And meanwhile, in the um, in the dark, come to find out that, oh, he's actually interested in Will, but not in the way that you would think. He's known as a Matt Dissector, and he wants to cut Will open to understand what that fifth element is. Like, so he knows about Will, but it's like he just I'm damn like in a way, he's kind of like a little worse as far as like that one gatekeeper. Like, you were thinking like Edward was trying to gatekeep him, but like Cruce is like worse because he's not only gatekeeping him, but he's also set like some various platforms.
SPEAKER_00Like, man, get this freaky Garuchi Moto Cobato freaking combination of it. Nobody likes this guy.
SPEAKER_02Nah. And I like how with Zio, like eventually, like Chris will still be a hater, you know, even with um that one jail monster. I forgot his name, but it's like that jail monster that uh neutralizes all physical attacks. And Zio, I like how Zero was like, uh, all right, let's play a game. Uh like gun to your head, and you're like just shooting that one lightning bullet at him, and like, let's see you uh survive this. And Will ate that shit. Like, he ate it with his um sword and whatnot, and Chris was like still hating it, like, nah, nah, man, no, ain't no way, that's not magic. That ain't magic. And Z was like, hey man, let me tell you something poor eyes. He survived an attack from me, a Majia Bonder. Can you do that shit? I'm like, uh, actually, you know what? Stand right there. Like, let me find out. Let's see you can let's you survive that shit. Like, you know what I mean? But for the most part, it was Will and a few others trying to prove themselves, trying to get a color. And it just got to a point where Zio all of a sudden became interested in him. But Alfaria, who won. See, that's the funny thing about uh Elfie. She wanted him in the ice fast, she wanted Will in the ice fasting the whole time, but Cruz was against it because, you know, being a hater. And it was just like favoritism because, you know, Will and Elfie were friends, like childhood friends, so she can't show favoritism or nepotism towards Will. So it was almost like it was like, I like how it hurts her to not let Will join. But as soon as Will proved himself, he was like, uh-oh, see, see, told you that's my boy Will. Like, come on over to the Ice Pass. But Zio's like, nah, hold on. I kind of need that on my team because think about it. Like I said in the group chats where I'm like, with Will being a mage plate, it just makes sense for Zio's straightforward, combat focused style of magic. Especially with him having a freaking halberd for a wand. That's another thing that pissed me off. Cruz talking about, oh, he can't be a real um wizard. He doesn't even have a wand. And I'm sitting there like, hold on, El Faria with a stab, um, Zia with a halberd, the others with whatever the fuck they got. Clearly, those aren't wands, so why is it different with Will?
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, motherfucker, get out of here. You ain't like you. I kind of get what you're saying, but at the same time, you're not making any sense to an agree. It's like you're making it very clear you're just being a hater. Yeah. But yeah, like El Faria wasn't having it, but Zio just can't let Will go. So they just had to get into it. They had to fight. And like, bro, like that fight between El Faria
Terminalia Chaos And Will’s Awakening
SPEAKER_02and Zio, like I said uh in the group chat, it felt like watching Domador versus Voldemort and Harry Potter, Order of the Phoenix, where you see like these two masters of magic going at it. And it's like, damn, like what if we never gonna see something like this again throughout this series? To where you you kind of want to see two masters going. Kind of like Tsunade versus Orotimar. I think Tirayah was there. I don't know. But uh, it was definitely like Orochimar versus Tsunate as far as like summoning uh their summoning um, you know, the snake and the slug and whatnot. And it just felt like so hype, especially the incantation to wind up that primal magic, to the summon that monitor in that uh ice penis and like all that, just to bring out this one spell, and the way they were like gassing up that clash. I'm like, ooh shit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was it was clean, and I I I like the differences between how they were casting incantations too. Like our favorite our favorite was just pretty much uh you know, stalling with clones and whatnot, which he was just spamming. Meanwhile, Zio was just going through like lightning speed casting incantations. I'm like, damn, this that this is pretty genius on how they do that. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02And oh yeah, uh, before I gloss over this, I do like to part with Will since he failed the first bloom. He gets a second chance one with some of the other uh COLA's people. So Julius is using him to try uh get Brownie point. For Elfie, but the thing was, they were getting jumped by some classmates where it was like, oh, you know, Julius wasn't exactly making friends, like making um like new friends or whatnot. So of course they're gonna go after him because you know, it was more like a purging type thing where they gotta make sure that they get faction and whatnot. Uh, and then we have this mysterious witch, uh Saridwin showing up, um, trying to give uh the boys, especially Will, some pointers on how they can like get better with their magic and all that shit. And we come to find out that Saridwin uh is headmistress cauldron from the Academy. And I was saying how it's funny how she's like a reverse Tsunade, since I made that reference to Tsunade for Roshimara earlier. How Tsunade, she needs chakra to look young. Meanwhile, with Sari Win, she's eternally 20. As, you know, that uh transition card, you know, the uh I forgot the actual name, what they call it. Um but you know, the transition card where they say like the name, the age, and blah blah blah. And it's like in parentheses it says eternally 20 because she's the ageless witch, where it's like she literally doesn't age, but the only thing was she transforms into an elderly woman just to keep up the appearance that oh uh yeah, we want knowing that you're still around, you know.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But it was like she was kind of like in disguise for the most part, but like she's at it's like she doesn't age, like her body's like permanently 20 years old, and that's crazy. Only 20, but look at the size of the titties, god damn.
SPEAKER_00I do uh I do wonder somehow if there was a uh if there was some kind of catch to get to that point on how she was, like uh, because usually like when you have eternal youth or some kind of you know thing like that, immortality, it's like usually there's some kind of catch to it, and I'm wondering if that's what she had. Um and she is definitely powerful, but it does make me wonder is there some kind of underlying uh backlash or kind of you know little thing she has going on?
SPEAKER_02Right. Oh, yeah, by the way, I remember what that creature was, the war ooze, with you know, the ooze monster where it's like it can only be with Matt. I was trying to wonder. I know what what what the name was, but uh maybe I can figure out what it uh knows. But yeah, like I kind of like uh her inclusion in all this, where it's like, in a way, it's like she's always watching over Will uh from the Academy leading up to now. So she like still gonna be watching over him in a way, but I'm like, god damn, I uh uh I just wasn't expecting all that eye candy, you know what I'm saying? I also like the uh red and blue hair that she got going on. That was that was definitely kind of cool.
SPEAKER_00That uh that red and blue hair were like a little off topic, but it vaguely reminds me of that one Fire Emblem game that uh that has those characters that has like that red and blue hair combination too.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. Like some of them like straight up blue hair, some of them like straight up red, and there's like a mix. Mm-hmm.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh some other things that I'm trying to make sure I don't forget. Okay, it's like a minor detail, but I still think it's kind of funny how every time Will and Elfie like have their little moments or like Elfie confess her love. Like she like straight up saying it in front of everybody, like including Will. I think Will was knocked out during the fight for the most part. Yeah, he was knocked out during the fight for the most part between Alfari and Zio. But she was like kind of like having a her he nada moment where she's like straight up going out and saying how much he loves Will, and then you have Cola in the fucking um bleachers, like breaking that fucking honest man. Because like, um, what the fuck are you doing? Admitting your love for him. And you know how Cola likes uh Will. Like, I still think it was cute even back then. Actually, I really do like how season two opened up with a recap episode so you can kind of get refreshed on what happened in season one. And I like how Colette, she the whole time, like at the Academy, she was trying to stick up for Will, even though we know she had a crush on him. And she was like the main one being like, oh, so y'all, y'all real quick to switch up on Will after he proves that he's actually worth something. Like, I mean, I didn't mean it like that, but you know, like y'all were picking on for not knowing magic, but oh, as soon as he proves himself to in a couple of dungeons or whatnot, oh, y'all want to act like his friend now, huh? I'm like, Will, are you gonna stand there and take this? And I was like, I made friends? I was like, oh my god, Will, I have some self-respect.
SPEAKER_00I know, I was annoyed at that too. I'm like, man, they they bullied you and everything for so long. And it's like, uh, you're paying six years. You're too kind-hearted, man.
SPEAKER_02It's like, uh no, I would have at least felt some type of way at first. I'm like, oh, so now it's different now, huh? It's different now, huh?
SPEAKER_00Even I even I would have held a grudge. And I'm I'm gonna be pretty patient and forgiving, but even I would have held a grudge. Because I'm like, yeah, no way. I would we would have every single right to pretty much become a villain right then and there. I'm like, you know what? Justified.
SPEAKER_02No, like, if anything, I would understand if he was just a little petty from now on. And it's like, oh, so I guess Magicless Will is useful for something now, huh? Like, come on, dawg. Like, listen, like, I know we gave you a whole lot of shit for before, but like, can we like get past that? Like, I don't know. Like, that's six years of getting past that, though.
SPEAKER_00I I'd be petty too. I won't even do like uh if I was will, I wouldn't even do over the top petty crap. I I just do little subtle, like subtle petty crap, but it's enough to annoy you. Like every time I come in a class and you see me, I'm gonna hover right over your head, knock your pencil and paper off your desk, and let you pick it up, and then I'm gonna do it again every single day.
SPEAKER_02Yo, is anybody gonna um talk to him and tell him he needs to chill him? Like, who the fuck is gonna tell him with that fucking sword he got?
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, I'm gonna do some passive aggressive subtle shit, and they can't do nothing about it. It's like, yeah, they wanna talk about it, all right. Gets a sword. So I can absorb your I can absorb your magic with this, just remember that.
SPEAKER_02Bro, like straight up, like in a way, he's kinda like he kind of remind me of Austin from Black Poet, where it's up, it's not anti-magic, but he can't absorb magic with it and like use it for himself. So it's like, do you really want to do that, fam? Like, do you really want to give me that juice?
SPEAKER_00Yep. I was like, yeah, yeah, you don't want the smoke, man. He he
Tower Colors Factions And New Enemies
SPEAKER_00specializes is in close combat too. And I'm like, oh god, now it gets me thinking, can you imagine being the enemy or something? And you're getting jumped by uh imagine getting jumped by Zale and Will at the same time. Holy crap.
SPEAKER_02Probably on the same level as Zeku and All Might from that first movie.
SPEAKER_00That would be a nightmare getting jumped by those two, because they're not, I mean, Zio already isn't even your typical mage. He he he loves to get up close and personal and has a halber for crying out loud.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So that's why I'm like thinking, hey, yo, like season three needs to hurry. In fact, I'm kind of getting pissed off how they're considering free run, dungeon messy, and which hat at uh Atelier at the fancy big three. But meanwhile, I'm sitting here like, hey, hey, hey, hold on. Like, so are y'all glossing over Black Clover and Wistoria, which is doing pretty good right now?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they can't. He can't gloss over Wistoria. There's no way they can do that.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, bro, like it's kind of gas. Like, see, I'm thinking like with season one, I want to say at the very least, it deserves an eight. But I'm gonna go ahead and say this right now. Season nine is feeling like a nine. Like, okay, like my only thing was like I felt like I was a little bit annoyed by Edward trying to get keeping him like for like the same tired out reason. Like, it's if anything, it's more like, okay, I understand you don't want him to be like you, but like if you're gonna keep playing that card, at least expand on it, at least tell us what the fuck happened that made you be like, oh, well, you know. I mean, I don't know if he explained that in season one, but if he did, then I just straight up forgot. If he didn't, then I'm sitting out, well, explain like what the fuck happened with where I'm okay. I now understand where you're coming from. But right now it just sounds like you're just gatekeeping out of assumption.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because I don't remember much of him, like uh, I don't remember much of his backstory being explained. Um, and which I I could have also forgotten, but yeah, I don't I I vaguely remember it to where they've told anything about his past, and I'm really I'm hoping in season three maybe they do, or at some point that way we can really get a perspective of why he's so uh, you know, I guess in his own weird way, protective of will, or trying to keep him protective.
SPEAKER_02Right. And the only other thing I want to say off the top of my head, the reason why I can't give season two a 10 out of 10 is because even though I thought it was kind of funny, I'm a little annoyed that the whole Faria versus Zio fight to determine which faction we'll go to was determined by a game of rock, paper, scissors. And they went at it for 299 times, and then the 300th time Zio wins, and oh, there you go. I mean, even worse, Lord Aaron himself recommended this. It was like, hey, yo, y'all cut this out, cut all this fight. Because no, no, no, look, look, look, look. Not only did we tell we said about the magic, the way Elfario was practically uh playing Zio into a trap, just a set of other uh spells, the the genius behind that, first of all, and then they did that high-level primal magic shit. And after all that, even though they were still willing to fight, but they had little magic left, bro. This girl and this grown, well, I won't say grown ass, like he's not old old, but like he's definitely in his 20s. This grown ass man and this young girl straight up said, like, all right, throw them hands in. I'm like, they would raid the box over this kid's will, but then Lord Aaron showed him, like, hey, yo, like this isn't how Niger Bellinger should be behaving like this, especially in front of all the other people. We need to set a better example. So, you know what? I have a more civilized resolution for this. Rock, paper, scissors.
SPEAKER_00Uh yes, gotta, gotta love it. I mean, I I don't know. I guess dude would just hire you, like, man, I'm gonna hire these kids. Let's do rock, paper, scissors or something. But man, boy, if only if only other things in life, complicated things in life could be solved with a simple case of rock, paper, scissors, that'd be nice. Oh boy.
SPEAKER_02Oh, like, bro, like, oh, okay, it's kind of funny, but at the same time, I just if I could have rewrite that, I would have said, okay, just have Lord Aaron try to break up the fight and whatnot, blah, blah, blah. But instead of rock, paper, scissors, have Will pull up and be like, Elfie, I'm sorry, as much as I wanted to be there, uh, be with you, but I think it's better if I go with Zio. Because I feel like for me to be the kind of mage, you know, like to be in my natural element. Like, see, I'm not like other mages. Like, I have my sword, y'all have wands, and with Zio, I feel like he might be the guy I need to put me on the path that I need to go in order to fully understand my magic. See, if it was a moment like that, I was like, hmm, Will is as much as he wants to be with Elfie, he's doing the selfless thing by joining Zeo's fashion for the sake of growing stronger for Elfie. If he did that, that would have been way better. But to have it resolve over rock, paper, scissors just make the whole thing feel trivial. So, in other words, like it's almost like will that's like saying, imagine your main mission to be reunite with your childhood um prodigy friend has been thwarted by a gang of rock, paper, scissors. That's like imagine your whole plan getting derailed by a coin toss.
SPEAKER_00Yep, I don't blame I don't blame Elfie for just full-on crying and just going feral after that. I any anybody would honestly.
SPEAKER_02And the way she was flailing in her bed when um Cruz was like forbidding her to just automatically pick um Will. I don't know. I I thought that one was genuinely funny, the way she was like flailing around while she had like five Will Plusies on her bed, you know, like that's not there. I was like, and then her uh secretary was like, hey, yo, like is this any way for Major Billinger to act?
SPEAKER_00Um man, if Will and everybody else isn't careful, Elfie's gonna just suddenly one day kidnap him with a bunch of clones or something. Like, I gotta be careful. He definitely gotta watch her.
SPEAKER_02But you're thinking she's gonna be crazy like Ezra? Probably.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it she's gonna freeze time somehow. I don't know how she'll do it, but she will. But I I really do respect that too. The fact that she was willing to box Museum being out of magic, and I'm like, uh, she thinks she's gonna get faded, right? But I respect it. I respect it because uh That was the thing.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, hey, no way you're serious. Like that little look. I'm not trying to play gender cards, but I'm like, that man looks like he's going to kill you. Yep. You're like, nah, I'll run that fade.
SPEAKER_00Like out of magic this time? No, he he's gonna win this fight, but I respect the willingness to run into that fade. I I do.
SPEAKER_02It almost felt like Defku versus Todoroki, uh, you know, that final class where I was like, okay, hold on. Y'all don't need to go this far with it.
SPEAKER_00And you know, the anime, you know, the fight's getting good when the animation has a bunch of explosions and the ground is like turning into cubes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It was like, yeah, that that shit was kind of popping up, especially with the way it was like uh that one part where it seemed like they were like rabbed uh fling their primal magic at each other, and then it was like with the eyes, like they're focusing on the eyes a little bit the way they were like the eyes like raising and all that shit. Like they were really like in
Elfaria Vs Zio And The Ageless Witch
SPEAKER_02the moment, like holy shit. Like I kind of want to go back and rewatch that scene, just because of how well they like slow cooked that scene, where it was like just one big wind up for this big clash.
SPEAKER_00I had saw a picture too of uh, it was just like a picture from like the manga panels from that fight. Uh it was like the Primal Magic. And I was like, dang, that that looks like it looks pretty good, honestly. The manga to the anime, like they both look good. They they made it pretty well.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It definitely does well to where it's like some sign having like a 3D environment. You know how they did it to where it looks a little almost like the way they were like doing the camera angles, like moving from left to right and whatnot, it kind of felt like it was almost computer generated. And I kind of get that to an extent, and I do appreciate the effort behind it because uh sometimes it just feels like I mean, how can I put this? Let's keep in mind that animation is the illusion of movement. So for you to went from having these manga pages where it's like still images, and okay, let's try to paint the picture a little bit better to where it's like between the coloring and the camera angles, the movement and whatnot, we need to make this moment look more hype in animation than it does on a manga page. And I just appreciate the effort behind that. But uh yeah, other than that, I'm pretty much good on this review. Like, you know, uh basically will now join the lightning faction uh along with uh the Val Victorian. Um I'm forgetting her name. Oh damn, I forgot her name already, but uh she was pretty much like the top dog at the Academy. And she went with that one joint mission with Cion and I think Julius back in season one. Uh I'm trying to remember her name, but uh what's that lightning girl, right? The one he used later on. Yeah, Lihana, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh like I know her name, but all I think of it was something like that. Like it's it was something like that, but like, yeah, now I remember. It was Lehana. Like Will, Lihana, and some others joined the lightning fashion. Uh Scion joined the um fire fashion. Like, I don't remember Julius joining a fashion. Like, maybe he joined the act faction because you know, he always wanted to be in that faction, but uh Opie was like, I just don't like him. Like, I I don't like his attitude, I don't like the way he's been bullying Will.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, pretty much everybody would hate that guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So it's like, uh, bro, like, I can't wait for Julius to have that conversation with OV2. It's like, why? Why have you been denying me this whole time? And I'm seeing her like, uh, you think I didn't hear about you? You picking on my friend Will?
SPEAKER_01Hmm?
SPEAKER_02Is that does that bring any bills? Like, do you recall any of that? And I was like, oh, don't tell me this is about Will. This this has always been about Will, motherfucker. This has always been about Will. What the fuck are you talking about? Like, if you was such a I mean, look look look here. Like, if you were like a smug asshole, I might have tolerated. But you treating Will like that? Oh nah, you you just made my shit list, buddy.
SPEAKER_00Yep, and he's at the very top.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, at least with Scion, is like, okay, he picked on Will a little bit, but at least he backed off. He learned how to back off a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Yup knows what he's capable of now, too. So he's like, yeah, let's not do that again too much. Or, well, he kind of is eager to still pick fights, but yeah, just not bully him anymore.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He's like, Sayon's like uh the box we go to Will Deku in a way. And I I know that's crazy because I just made that comparison uh which had a tell your review, but like, bro, like can you you can't tell me that parallel isn't there though. Like I agree.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, like that was pretty much all I got on this season. Like I honestly have more notes, but like I just to condense it down, that was pretty much all I really wanted to say on now. I just thought it was pretty good. Like, I think it's at least worth nine out of ten and being well, I don't know about being a top contender. For anime of the year. Like, I mean, I feel like it deserves it, but at the same time, I'm just thinking, based on how people are, they're probably gonna go out to a word with Storia, which will be sad. But if it gets any nominations at all at Crunch Real Awards, I'll be like, hey, you know what? That's something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, true.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's something. You got nominated, at least somebody, at least enough people notice you enough to for you to be nominated. Yeah, so that's something. But uh Hero, uh, did you give your rating and whatnot?
SPEAKER_00Uh honestly, I I think the same is uh pretty much yours. Uh basically nine out of ten. Um pretty much can't wait for more of it and seeing a season three poster like that picture of uh Willow. I do I do wonder if that implies something like another. I don't know if it's just for the visual or effects, or it could be implying like another source of power, or maybe like a you know, kind of like how you said too. Maybe a darker side to using Whis, you know, that he tapped into or something. That does make me curious.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like I did like that that little tease where like maybe there's a dark side to his power which will make him a target for guys like Mars and Headless. So once again, I'm kind of thinking of which uh uh till year to where I'm like, okay, we have this seemingly normal boy who might have uh ability that might be uh a great asset to everybody or potentially dangerous if left in the wrong hands. Yep, but uh yeah, uh was there anything else you want to add on to that? Uh anything you want to say before we close this out?
SPEAKER_00Uh no, that'll pretty much be it for me.
SPEAKER_02Alright. Well, with that being said, you heard it. It's a 9 out of 10 from us with story of one and sword. I can't wait for season three and to figure out what the
Ratings Season 3 Hopes And Goodbye
SPEAKER_02hell's going on with willing that black and white eye of his. Because, like, you're showing me this God speed mode where you're just blitzing through all these dinosauruses and you just pretty much taking out all these golems and one swing of your sword and all this stuff. I'm like, hey man, like I I kind of need to see more. Like, I hope it comes back. Like, it'll be crazy if see Black Clover is already coming back October of this year in 2026. It'll be crazy if Black Clover kept going and get new episodes in October 2027, and surprise, surprise, Vistoria comes back with season three in that same time frame.
SPEAKER_00God, man, I I I I get I'd probably get too hyped out thinking of that. Like that that actually happened, Jesus.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's like all five of these fantasy anime just dropping new episodes, and I'm sitting there like, oh bro, next year's gone. I'm not having mixed feelings right now because on the one hand, yes, I'm excited, I'm happy for it, but at the same time, it's like when you think about it from a production point of view, it's like, oh lord, we got a whole lot of reviews to prepare for during that time frame.
unknownTrue.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So with that being said, let's go ahead and put a close to this. Uh, I do thank you, hero, for being on the show with me, and I thank the listener for hearing us to the end. So, have yourself a good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night. But ultimately, you take it easy on yourself and remember to stay nerdy and that great things are coming. Let's go ahead and don't know about a year.
