I'm trying to look up and see when the last time you was on his mother for her hold on how , what ?

Speaker 2

how old are you ?

Speaker 1

I'm 34 now .

Speaker 2

So right before your 30th birthday .

Speaker 1

Fuck , yeah , yeah , yeah , yeah , that's right .

Speaker 2

Damn Good time it's been .

Speaker 1

Yeah , it's been a minute , but I got . The homie friend has come back To the podcast to fuck with a nigga , so what's ?

Speaker 2

going on .

Speaker 1

You tell me you busy motherfucker you out here trying to become an Elise Keaton and shit , you know what , fuck you Okay . But no , like it's . It's not a everyday occurrence , um , where I get somebody that's Trying to get into law school .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

Yeah , so that's crazy .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I actually take the LSAT next Saturday . So I take the LSAT next Saturday .

Speaker 1

I stand one up for you .

Speaker 2

Please do . Um , this test is dumb . Um , every everything about law school and trying to get in . It's all a fucking haze . It's all a haze , it's all . Who can last the longest , who can spend the most money ? Who can take these tests ? Who can do whatever ? This particular process is completely designed to keep Marginalized individuals out of this process . It is a disaster . It's a fucking nightmare , like I see why I . Only Five percent of lawyers , according to the American bar associations , are African Americans . Only it's only five percent . Did you know that ?

Speaker 1

according to the American bar .

Speaker 2

It's only five percent are African-American that are lawyers . That's it . That's it . It's only a small . I think it actually dropped to four percent . So I really try to make sure that , like I , if those who are Black and brown who want to go to law school , um , it is a marathon , it's not a sprint , it's dumb and it's it's all unnecessary . But , yeah , I take the LSAT next Saturday and then we are going to apply . Oh , can you hear me ? There we go , yeah you good , you're good .

Speaker 1

You said you're gonna take it next Saturday . You're gonna apply .

Speaker 2

Yep , I my . I put my application in before , uh , thanksgiving , so that's the thing to try to be considered for early admissions . So okay .

Speaker 1

Nice so what , we ain't gonna put professions and shit out there , but , um , this'll put it for you , right ?

Speaker 2

So kind of sorter , but it's , it's it's always been a lifelong goal , like I've always wanted to be a lawyer . And I was just like I mean , like I literally came probably right Right before the pandemic kind of jumped off . I was tossing around the idea , yeah , and I was talking to my therapist and I was like you know , I've really been thinking about going back to law school , like I was something I've always wanted to do . I've always wanted to be a lawyer , like I've done . I . I went to undergrad , I got the masters , I started a bit like I've done everything and I'm like I really just want to focus on the shit that I really wanted to do and I really want to go back to law school . I really want to go to law school .

Speaker 2

But , I have was like I don't know , I'm about to be 40 . You know I'm da , da , da da . And my therapist was like she said well , you can be 40 or 43 when you're finished , you know , whatever Um , and be a lawyer , or you can be 40 or whatever age and regret it and still think about it . And I was like I'm gonna need you to lower your tone when you're speaking to me . Uh , I said we .

Speaker 1

So then , um , I actually took the .

Speaker 2

LSAT February 2021 , 2021 , completely bombed it , completely bombed it . The whole entire process wore me out so bad that I completely shelved my whole entire law school admissions process , like I was over it . I'm like I'm never doing this again . And so , top of 2023 , I was like all right , let me really figure it out . And so the LSAT is one of those tests where you just like To get a good score , you need to be studying six to eight months , like you can't just wing this . It isn't one of those tests like it's a , it's a , it's a marathon . And that's where a lot of people don't know . They just jump right in . But no , it's something I've been wanting to do for a very long time and I was like Two tiers in a bucket , fucking I'm about to be 40 . Let me just do it . You know , no matter what , the time is still going to be there , no matter what it is , so just use the time how you want it .

Speaker 1

So the time is still gonna pass . So facts , facts , and I'm like I'm kind of dealing with that shit too getting you know mid 30s next year or a couple months shit here and like Thinking about I don't I don't want to call it a midlife crisis because I'm not having a crisis but like More a realization of where you are in life .

Speaker 1

There you go , realization about like you know what what family life looks like , because , like I am , you know in the little group that like , yeah , I would like to be married , I would like to have kids . You know the whole , the whole dream with that shit . Yeah , and also , like you know , I'm getting older . But also like realizing like , oh shit , my parents are getting older too .

Speaker 2

So that's one of the most interesting things to happen that's one of the hardest things to deal with as you migrate out of your 30s If you're mid 30s , into your 40s is that you start seeing your parents age , and that is very , it's very uncomfortable , because these , these are your parents , these are , um , the , the pillars , the superman , the superwoman of your life , and now to see them In a , in a , in an elder , aging state , to where they're not , that space and it's , it's , it's very it can be disheartening .

Speaker 1

Yeah , and so , like you know , my parents are like healthy and stuff like that , which is a blessing , and things like that

Reflections on Life, Health, and Adulting

Speaker 1

. But like realizing that shit and I think it's also due to the pandemic , because it feels like , even though it's been three years , it does not one continuous fucking year or whatever , and so , like concept of time has been like Fucked up and then also think like kind of like you like looking back at it and be like , yeah , there's still shit that I want to do and I don't want to regret no , not doing that . You know , like you know , I want my parents to be around to see grandkids and stuff like that . So like , and then also August is just a tricky month for me . Yeah , general , you know , with the shit , with the shit that I've been through .

Speaker 2

So like sure , you know , you know .

Speaker 1

It's , it's , it's , it's , it's magnified , right now you know I'm saying and I think like once I get past , kind of like you know , the anniversary of certain stuff , then I'll be , I'll be cool or whatever . But yeah , it's just magnified times 10 because , like you know , mom going in for checkups , you good .

Speaker 2

Yeah , no , you are right .

Speaker 1

What did they say ?

Speaker 2

Yeah , like you know , for real , and also having the hard conversation of okay , you're good , but will you be ? Where is your documents ? What ?

Speaker 1

is this Like I've ?

Speaker 2

unfortunately , I've had the , the unfortunate um responsibility of helping cleaning out , like my elders who've passed away their homes , and it was unexpectedly , and so we couldn't get into cell phone devices . We don't know where last wishes are . You know we , now we have to go through probate court to do things and you know , no , like no . What is the password to your phone ? Where is your bank account information ? What is your wishes ? Like , this needs to be in a folder somewhere . And we know , because you never want to talk about it , right , because people don't want to have the , the mortality conversations . It's more of it , it's fucked . You know what I mean , right ? And so people get in their body and , like I have an emergency , I have an emergency folder , I have a folder that has everything . It has my information date of birth , last name , blood type , front and back . You know images of my credit cards , everything , everything . Because you just never know , and I have designated people who know where this things are . So it's , it's , it's , it's very , um , it's very humanizing .

Speaker 1

I'll say that yeah , it's uh , yeah it's a uh humanizing period right now .

Speaker 2

for me , it hits you in the chest like a motherfucker Like facts , facts , facts .

Speaker 1

and then you know , career wise , you know , I made a change , you know yeah , congratulations . Yeah , appreciate it , and so , like you know , I can now . I'll put it this way Okay . Um , I like , I like what I'm doing . Okay , I like what I'm doing . I'm not really looking forward to the tax bracket ramifications . No , that's not that's just up , bro . It was like you know , now it's gonna be an automatic 40% off the top hey .

Speaker 2

I am .

Speaker 1

I , I've , I've hit another threshold , and so it's a little different now , and like for sure , you know in tax you know go up and yeah , when taxies are rolling around . I'm not looking forward to that , because of that , but it's a blessing to be able to make what I'm making and even though inflation and all this shit is trash , eat it up , but yeah .

Speaker 1

Um but yeah , like yeah , I'm in a period right now where , like you know , perspective and growing and changing and stuff like that , and yeah , you know , we really are the adults out here , or whatever , which is so weird because I am so immature , like are y'all like are you still ? I'm still , I'm still .

Speaker 1

I'm still tidy , tidy , lefty Lucy , like what the fuck bro , I , when I I had to go into the office today to grab something and I , literally when I because we were hybrid and so like nobody was there and so like I'm unlocking the door I was like righty tidy .

Speaker 2

It's still righty , tidy , lefty Lucy , I still have to call my mom . Be like mama . Now , what do I say to these people ? Now , what happened ? How am I the adult ? But I'd be so adult until it's time to pick out my health benefits . Now , what is this ? Yeah , how am I the ? How are we the adults in this , where and that is what's coming up with a niggin next .

Speaker 1

I have to pick that out . Um , and as soon as I hit that , I had it . It's a 60 day period that they they got at my gig now . So , like soon as that 60 day is up , I'm scheduling everything .

Speaker 2

I need everything , I need every type of of everything .

Speaker 1

No I .

Speaker 2

I enshoot like that's one of the things I have to watch . Like the last time I went to the doctor my blood pressure was up . I'm like , oh shit , like I have to watch those things . So yeah , get it checked . Get your heart , your body , your blood work everything Get all of that done Especially black men .

Speaker 2

black men you know you gotta have a higher a higher mortality rate , unfortunately , you know , due to just life and trauma . And you know , you know it is a massive , massive stereotype of men don't go to the doctor . It's a massive stereotype . There's very few who do , but you know it's a consensus that men don't . So you know it's a lot of health issues . But I applaud , um , every black man that goes to the doctor , that goes those things , that goes , gets checked , that goes , gets tested , all of the things .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I had to push my shit back because I'm like nigga , I ain't got coverage , right now .

Speaker 2

So I'm not gonna come out of pocket out of there .

Speaker 1

Because , yeah , I saw when it costs without coverage and when by insurance and my life get covered , I was like god damn , because I got , I get everything done every six months .

Speaker 2

Six months .

Speaker 1

Yeah , you know because you know , high blood pressure unfortunately runs in in my family , and so , um , yeah , I even had an issue with it . Was it , uh , the beginning of 2022 ? Um , yeah , where I had to be put on that shit , did you ? Oh , wow , had to be put on that shit . I don't think I ever talked about this on the podcast , but are you um ?

Speaker 2

are you still on it Like a , like a very minimal , or are you completely off of ?

Speaker 1

it . So I've been . I haven't . I've been offered for a while to see like if I got it under control , which is why this next appointment is like super niggas is talking about health . No , but like for real , like for real no , like I've been offered .

Speaker 2

This is what a 35 year or 30 to 40 year conversation has to look like . So I hope that you're healthy , but yeah , please , you know , sending up all positive vibes and healthiness to your space with that , because it's not that high blood pressure as a silent killer , especially in the African American community ?

Speaker 1

You know facts , facts , no . Um , yeah , I got , I got put on that shit and I was like I was not feeling it . Not the medication with . I didn't have any side effects , thank god , yeah , but like it was like damn , because that's something like my dad suffered from . And then my grandfather yeah , I promise shit , and so like you automatically . And then , of course , chantel was on that shit too , and you know it was like it's very triggering .

Speaker 1

Yeah , it was triggering as fuck . But , um , you know that just loves like get my ass back in the gym kind of watch what I why eat , what I eat and stuff like that . And then , um , yeah , it's why this next one is super important , to see kind of where I stand , where I can like be completely off of it or get beyond something like a smaller dose or something like that . So , um , but yeah , I'm scheduling everything I needed it today .

Speaker 2

I need everything , whatever Big test .

Speaker 1

Everything , everything , I don't .

Speaker 2

I don't give a fuck . Is it ? Is it a color test ?

Speaker 1

I don't give a goddamn , I ain't never had an allergy test before Run that shit .

Speaker 2

Oh nigga , I am so scared to get that shit . Oh , my god , my home girl got one and she's allergic to everything . Yeah .

Speaker 1

Everything . Yeah , I've heard horror stories .

Speaker 2

She can't do anything and I'm just like I don't , I don't know , like no , she got that allergy test and she like basically can never go outside , like she just can't like anything dealing in outdoors . It literally sends her into like a fucking asthmatic , like shit situation . Right Her allergies she can't do outside . I got another home girl who they found out she has a has a tree nut allergy . So anything pine , walnut , avocado , certain chocolates none of that she can have . I've yes .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I don't want to live that life .

Speaker 2

I can't eat no butter . I scream I can't have no walnuts .

Speaker 1

Niggas love butter Because that's what we had .

Speaker 2

I can't eat what I can't have this cinnamon roll with no . Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

Luckily I ain't crossed , crossed , none of that shit . And I'm a little bit , a little bit scared . If I do that , it's like nigga , you've been eating this for 35 years and you , you not supposed you probably shouldn't know for sure .

Speaker 2

Yeah , that probably is not the best thing for you . Yeah , yes , Allergies . It's , it's necessary . I , I , I just don't want to get one because I don't want to be uh , I don't want the information .

Speaker 1

You want to be . You want to be the Lulu out here .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I want to be fucking Lulu . Yes , let me put my Lulu sunglasses on Fact .

Speaker 1

Fact . So , speaking of the Lulu , there was a event that took place here in St Louis about a week ago . What was it ? On the 21st to be exact . Okay , yeah , yes , yeah , you know , okay .

Speaker 2

Yeah , it was a great time Motherfuckers was wearing silver . I had a great time I had a come loud some red rose .

Enthusiastic Discussion About Beyoncé Concerts

Speaker 2

I loved it . I loved every minute of it Everything .

Speaker 1

Beyoncé came through the crib .

Speaker 2

I loved every minute of it . I loved how it was packed . It was all ages , all colors , sizes , the silver . I loved it . I loved every minute of it .

Speaker 1

I did so . This was my first Beyoncé concert . Okay , and I'll be completely honest , I like Renaissance , don't get me wrong , but that one Motherfuckers love Renaissance . Breathe Virgo's groove . I like that , you know cuff is my shit , when I heard , that album and cuff it came on . I'm like , yeah , this is the one , this is the one right here for me , and stuff like that . So yeah , and I'm a fan of Beyoncé as well .

Speaker 1

So they say you know , that's not me hating on nothing , but I will say that is one of the best concerts I have ever fucking been to .

Speaker 2

She puts on a show Like I . People talk a lot of see . Here's the thing . What pisses me off of people like Beyoncé is so overrated . I mean she can sing and she put on a great show or whatever . Well , bitch , shut up . It's always I'm not a Beyoncé fan , but well , but what ? But these holes in your mouth ? Shut up , like I am . Like again , I am , I am . I'm a part of the beehive . I'm not a stan . I can absolutely be objective when it comes to work . I've seen Beyoncé before . I saw her in formation . The formation tour that came in St Louis in 2016 was fucking excellent . That was my first Beyoncé experience , but like .

Speaker 2

I didn't go to On the Run , or , mrs Carter ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , everything was correct .

Speaker 2

So I appreciate it . I love the visuals . She's going to give you a show . You know and it was she , she that that bitch can sing . She got the range . She's going to give you a show . What more could you want ? And I'm so glad , I'm so glad men were there and like enjoying themselves .

Speaker 1

Facts .

Speaker 2

So yeah , I love that . Yeah your first experience would be on the show .

Speaker 1

Right , right , right . And like , I'm of course , familiar with the songs on the album , you know I listened to it a couple of times . You know I didn't live and breathe it Now , if this was like self titled or some shit like that , I'm saying every word and we were naked . I'm in my bag with this . That is my self title with my shit . Self title with my shit , that's not a deal ?

Speaker 2

No for sure . So I love that . That is so awesome . Beyoncé puts on . Let me tell you something Beyoncé is in my top five of concerts . When I so top five .

Speaker 1

Okay , get into it .

Speaker 2

No particular order .

Speaker 1

No particular order , just the top five .

Speaker 2

Order Top five concerts , no particular order . The hard not life tour . I saw that Jay-Z DMX Red man Met the man . Okay the lock . Okay , hard not life . The 444 tour Jay-Z put on .

Speaker 1

Okay , okay . Yeah , that didn't come through the crib , so you went out of town .

Speaker 2

Nope , I went to Nashville . Okay , okay , excellent , the 444 tour . Drake life . It's all a blur when I tell you to Drake in 21 , savage , arbery Graham , when I tell you that mother , see people , people sleep and think , just like Arbery Graham is an amazing rapper , but you got to think this motherfucker was an actor . He is a performing artist . Arbery Graham Easy , so it's hard , not life . 444 , drake in 21 , savage , beyoncé and Eric Abadou . The Eric Abadou show that was here was just that just came .

Speaker 2

Oh , it was so fucking great , okay , so good . I've never seen her perform like that , like I saw , like I've seen her at a festival here or there , but to be in an arena , the light show and the singers that was an amazing show . So those are my top five .

Speaker 1

Okay , yeah , the only reason I didn't go to the Eric Abadou show is because I saw her at music at the intersection , which was a concert .

Speaker 2

So I was at the intersection . Oh yeah , that's right , but I was .

Speaker 1

It was completely different .

Speaker 2

It was . It wasn't a good show to me because , number one , it was the rain , so we had to deal with that . And then they were behind and then whoever went on before her blew out the mics and that's why they couldn't get , because they couldn't hear . The sound was bad , so I didn't have a good Abadou experience . Okay , so when I actually got a chance to get a good ticket , I went by myself . It was out of sight . It was excellent .

Speaker 1

Okay , okay , cool , cool . So , speaking to the like show aspect , that's something that I appreciated about Beyonce show Because it felt like it had a flow , it had a storyline , it was visuals , you know , blue eyes came out and shit like that , you know , it's just the energy was just top tier . Stage design yeah , instrument band singers Mike , mike's his own , you feel me Mike's .

Speaker 2

The Mike was born .

Speaker 1

Her fucking Mike was respectfully , respectfully , okay With tidian .

Speaker 2

The titties , the titties , the titties was tidian . They were bound in like a mother fucker .

Speaker 1

Well , whatever the fuck that was , yeah .

Speaker 2

They was , they was they . She puts on a show . She's going to give you everything , like the unfortunately it's what they call . It is the devil's in the details . Like we're talking a show , we're going to get a theme , you're going to get stage presence , you're going to get formations . You know , yeah , it's top tier . I honestly I've . Beyonce was shocked . The crowd erupted when blue Ivy came on , like the room was shaking . I'm awesome . Oh , my God , you know it was just to see that . So I I love , as a as a former theater kid , I love performers .

Speaker 2

I love to see stage shows Give me the storyline with your shit . Love that give me I am , cuz it also points to the fact like I'm no longer like . I like a good rap concert , but I'm no longer . No , I'm no longer going to rap concerts . For that fucking reason I take that back . I lied I Just bought tickets to the juvenile concert . I lied I did . I'm going to see that it's juvenile , a ball , mjg bum be , I'm absolutely going to see that .

Speaker 1

Okay , is that ? Is that here ?

Speaker 2

Yes , it's October 13th , it's at the fucking Shafis , but I'll go see them . I'll go see that . I love Julie . A ball , mjg Bumbie . Oh , I'm absolutely going to that hell . Yeah , I'm trying to buy floor seats .

Speaker 1

Okay , okay , say less no , but for me , yeah , the Renaissance concert was . It's definitely up there .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

When Drake , when Drake came with the Migos .

Speaker 2

I missed that . I had to . I saw that concert twice .

Speaker 1

I saw that concert you fucking did , and I . Well , for one , I went . I went with my boyfriend , phil , to Chicago because they , when they announced the tour , obviously Saint Louis wasn't on the fucking they had in Saint Louis , didn't they exactly ? And so when they added Saint Louis Chantel , I'm like she obviously didn't get to , you know , didn't come with me to see him in Chicago . You know , it's right after her birthday . I was like let me grab her , you know , grab tickets and go see it again , because it was a damn good show .

Speaker 2

Arbery fucking show he's and then you forget people . Like people talk a lot of shit . Drake is one of the goats . Like y'all forget how many songs this nigga has . He went through 20 Songs before 21 Savage even got on the fucking stage . You know , I'm saying and I went , saw them when I was in New York . So I saw them at the garden , at Madison Square Garden , so I went up there when he was in . That was the last show he had a New York . He has seven shows in New York between , like Newark , the barclays and then Madison Square Garden . Right , so we in this motherfucker , and if he put on a perfect show , like you forget how many songs he has . Like I was on my feet the entire time he was performing , cuz you , I was like I forgot about this .

Speaker 2

You got take care . You got fucking thank me later . You got old . You got Houston , atlanta , vegas , drake I mean you got Drake from through the ages crazy .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , so that Drake and me goes tour .

Speaker 2

It was shit flying in the air . It was first it was this , a Screen mask , then he had like a like a piece of sperm flying in the air . Then you have the fucking , the fucking Virgil , the fucking Virgil thing , which was weird . It was so weird . It was so weird . Like I Rest in peace the Virgil . Like I never really was a I'm not a fan of his work so I can't speak on that but this massive statue I was like , okay , that's , that's very interesting , it was . I felt bad for those who were sitting in front of it because there was .

Speaker 1

It was that guy there , big yeah , yeah , he had something like that At the Migos tour . And then of course I've seen the Migos a couple of times , so of course I won't put what I won't put that they . They come with other artists from time to time but like , yeah , drake and Migos , I saw them twice . I went and saw J Cole down in Mizzou when he was on the like Friday night lights , just about to like go mainstream vibe concert was really dope when I was , when I was a youth , I got to see Jay Z . Yes , 50 cent .

Speaker 1

Yes noop dog .

Speaker 2

I saw that I was fabulous that concert . It was that uh is that the Hollywood ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , I got me and my cousin .

Speaker 2

We went to see that show . I was . We got tickets . We were on the sixth row . I was losing my mind .

Speaker 1

Yes , that was such a good concert and all of them were like the hottest rappers at the time . It's pretty sure okay , like fab was an up-and-comer , 50 50 cent was the new 50 , 50 and Jay was like battling or some shit . Yeah , yeah , 50, . You know , get rich or die . Trying took over the summer . It was crazy that year and then Jay , that was right around . I want to say , was it blueprint to feel ?

Speaker 2

like it might have been blueprint to yeah .

Speaker 1

Yeah , because black album was like a year later . Yep so you know , and then of course , snoop is snoop .

Speaker 2

So dog gonna be snoop dog is the most transit transitional rapper of our generation . This nigga is everywhere , like you can't everywhere , but no , I love a good concert . But yeah , that beyond . I am so glad you had a chance to experience , you know , a Beyonce concert and that was probably that's one of her better ones , like Renaissance , I love the album , like don't get it twisted , I'm a fan , like I knew that that album isn't for everybody , that it's not .

Speaker 2

You know , it's a lot of work , a lot of that album , a lot of the music . A lot of it came from ballroom , right , a lot of our , you know , it came from ballroom and a lot of spaces and a lot of things and so , um , I like my favorite song was blow is blow . Well , you know , off of self-title , you know , and I like that vibe . So that to me this album was for girls who like blow , this was , this was albums for the girlies . Who was , you know , unfortunately we all can't be Ridin round talking with my rounds , bitch , I don't feel like doing it . Let's go , bitch , put on some , let's go outside , you know , like , let's just let's . It was , it was very fun , it was very fun and it was very airy , you know , and in a time that was necessary , and I hate that we don't have no fucking visuals . Be on stage there , she said you are the visual .

Speaker 1

God damn it . Okay , we the fucking visual .

Speaker 2

Okay , I mean , we're fucked we .

Speaker 1

I mean a doc , respectfully , if she gonna be up there jiggling like that . Like I was , like like bruh , like when she was up there and it was during uh , was it during ? Uh , you can't take my soul , I don't know , I can't even remember what fucking song , but like I , I was like I get it , I get it .

Speaker 2

I get it now .

Speaker 1

Body on body , I get it .

Speaker 2

I love it .

Speaker 1

I understand why jay is following her answer . That's really like .

Speaker 2

Nigger what I'm gonna do , of course . Now you see why he made 444 , you see why ?

Speaker 1

Nigger , nigger , nigger , said me my wife beef and I ain't leaving , I get it .

Speaker 2

I get it now . What he was like no , what you mean come ? What do you mean You're leaving , come home . What do you mean Come on , no .

Speaker 1

I get it , I fucking get it . So , going back to you being the future analyst , keating , what is it that you wanna practice in specifically ?

Speaker 2

So here's . So I do wanna do some civil I actually really wanna go work in a lot of .

Speaker 2

I wanna go work with financial crimes , so I really wanna work in like some civil law . But I really wanna go to white collar crime . So a lot of contracts , a lot of litigation , a lot of just you know , being in spaces , you know I work in risk , so I see a lot of teams , a lot of compliance managers , a lot of you know in house counsel for a lot of companies . And that's kind of where I really wanna lead to Working for companies and big law , like in house counsel for certain companies that are like major .

Speaker 1

Right , right , right , cause every company has legal in some shape or fashion .

Speaker 2

So I work with them . I work with that team , often in a lot of spaces , and I see a lot of black women and I'm like this is I need to be with y'all , like they . You know a lot of these spaces . You know black women lawyers are the compliance managers , they are the this , they're the that , they're making the rules , they're in policy , they're in house counsel . You know they're making the decisions on what we need to do and representing companies . Well , and I was like I think I can do that .

Law School and Birthday Party Planning

Speaker 2

I'm not being a defense attorney for criminal . You not gonna call me little Gerald because you did some bullshit . And now you hey , cause , cause , no , nigga , no , no , I'm not , I'm not , you know . No , I'm not . I'm not about to be there . You not about to make me be . I don't want to be nobody's defense attorney . I don't want to be the reason why somebody got life . I would be the , the fucking , was it ? Drew Ski lawyer .

Speaker 2

Well hey , got some good news . That's a bad news . Sayonara , sayonara .

Speaker 1

You're fucking out of here .

Speaker 2

Yeah , bad news is , you got life . Yeah , we received your payment , sayonara . No , fuck that , no , hell , no .

Speaker 1

That's some real shit . Yeah , that's where the money at . Yeah , I don't want to be in criminal defense . Keep these companies out of trouble . Yeah .

Speaker 2

I don't want to be in criminal defense . I don't want to go to family law , cause I am not about to be the decided factor to help somebody child support or divorce lawyer or family law I would lose my mind . Do something I got to represent , cause you didn't do something to a child the best interest of a kid . I'm always going to side with the child and there's so many laws and things like that that are not for certain demographics of people . You know what I'm saying and I just I could not , my heart can't take that , so I'm going to stick to the paperwork of it all .

Speaker 1

No , Real shit , real shit , real shit .

Speaker 2

I want to be able to have enough information and enough , enough law background to where you listen . Shut the fuck up until I get there . Okay , I just shut up , just be quiet , don't say anything and we'll figure this out . I'm on my way and plus I want my family to be like well , my sister , the lawyer . She said the lawyer . Well , my friend , a lawyer , said Facts , facts , facts .

Speaker 1

My aunt is an attorney and I definitely be like uh tt . So how is that a classic Auntie . So let's just say , and she'll get you right , yeah , she'd be like no .

Speaker 2

First of all , shut the fuck up . Shut the fuck up . You belong to some . So hypothetically speaking auntie , let's just say what if someone did ?

Speaker 1

Facts , facts , facts . Get a nigga out of a jam , yeah .

Speaker 2

Not get it , not get anybody out of a jam , but just know enough . I want to be able to successfully challenge the law when necessary , to defend it and to know what our rights are .

Speaker 2

A lot of our communities , black and brown we're in a lot of the situation because we just don't fucking know . And Lupo Larry white man , unfortunately , will get all through that bullshit . You know what I'm saying ? And now they teflon , no , no , they just read and know how to use the system to understand where the Lupos are and that's where it is and that's what it is . I really want to be able to make an impact , to be self-aware , to know the law , go work for somebody's in-house counsel and be able to do some things . So some civil here or there , maybe a little bit of real estate , but that's about it .

Speaker 1

Nothing too crazy . I got you , I got you . So what does the rest of 2023 look like for you ?

Speaker 2

Shit nigga survive , fuck , I don't know .

Speaker 1

Real nigga shit , Real nigga activity .

Speaker 2

I know right , so just fucking survive , but no , can finish law school . Like I would not finish law school , but get over the hurdle and really just like put pen to paper , because people always talk about , oh , I'm about to pursue law school , I'm trying to go to law school , but they never actually do it . And so really putting myself in the position to wrap up 2023 and put my law school application in to be considered for , but yeah , you said you're planning your 40th .

Speaker 2

Yeah . So I'm planning my 40th birthday party . I am really excited about that . It's going to be a fucking shindig , it's going to be crazy , it's going to be a good time . So I'll be sending out invites in Google Form Links probably the top of the year Google Form Links . Nigga , what do you mean I need ? I need every , because I'm not finna be because you know , black people don't RSVP , they don't .

Speaker 2

So in order to get to this party , you have to fill out this Google Form to say you're coming and your name will be put onto a spreadsheet . So when you because I got a count for catering headcounts black people don't RSVP , fuck that . No , if you don't , if you're not on this list , you're not getting in , because you're not going to know where to go .

Speaker 2

It's a whole situation . I got private parking . I got to have a fucking security because it's in the city . You know what I'm saying . You don't want people because I have a whole the venue that I am looking for . It's a really nice venue , also black on in the city . It's right across the street from the city . Selfies , the music at the intersection , it's like right on , like a locust , like right behind .

Speaker 1

It's over there .

Speaker 2

Yeah , it's a whole private parking lot that I get . You know what I'm saying with the venue . And no , I need y'all to RSVP and y'all not going to do it . So everybody got to fill out this form . No , are you bringing a plus one ? Do you have any food allergies ? Like you know , you have to consider those type of shit . So it's going to be a good time . It's going to be expensive as fuck , but that's going to be a good time .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I mean you spend . It's expensive as fuck , but at least you know the people that you're sending the form out to .

Speaker 2

Yeah , it's going to be good time .

Speaker 1

It's going to be like the people , like I really want y'all to be here , so yeah , no , yeah , it's going to be catered .

Speaker 2

It's going to be open bar . So , yeah , I kind of figured out who my DJ is . So you'll be getting your invite . Once I get everything together , I'll be , it's going to be about a maybe about a movie , is it a ?

Speaker 1

theme it's called the black album All right , niggas going to be in motherfucking black .

Speaker 2

Everybody has to be in black . It's the black album , it's the black out . That's the theme . Public service announcement is the theme of this party . Everybody got to have one black .

Speaker 1

Say less Some people .

Speaker 2

It's nothing crazy . Everybody got to have one black Say less I got .

Speaker 1

I'm looking at my goddamn closet now . It ain't nothing good . Yes , it ain't nothing but black . I'm never a black .

Speaker 2

I need my book is to put that shit on , cause we're going to have a good time , cause I have . I have not had a birthday party probably since like my 20 , like 15 years , I turned 25 . It's the last birthday party I had fucking 609 . Shit you know . What a fucking time what a time what a time Good times , but anyway you know what I'm saying .

Speaker 2

So I haven't had a party since then and so many people that I want to be at the party , so many of my friends and so many of y'all , and we're just going to have a good time . I want people to have a , to have a good drink and security , a DJ Charlie Chan . If you listening , I am so listening you to DJ my birthday party .

Speaker 1

You've already said you would .

Speaker 2

So I got some good folks that's going to take care of it , and so it's going to be a good ass time . So you got to , you got to plan this shit out now . Cause it's , it's six . It come October . It'll be six months . It's fucking crazy , cause your birthday is in January .

Speaker 1

Four months . No , I'm going to be here Top of the year .

Speaker 2

Yeah , isn't that crazy , crazy .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

But that's my 2023 really trying to get a handle . You know , really wrap up this cycle for law school to apply for this admission cycle , get accepted and plan my birthday party and just end the year healthy . You know what I mean . Like it's , it's so much that goes into life and you really just got to . I just got to fucking survive . You know you have to just what , what you think something is going to be . It might not even be that way , so you can hope for the best . But those are my two big things Law school , get in or not . Even you know , I know I'm going to get in , that's of course . But like , just see what happens . You know I've been putting this off for a while and saying I'm a go and study in and whatever . No , let's just let's what they say bring on the fucking water . Let's just rip the bandaid off and just get it going on .

Speaker 1

Real shit .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , no , that's real , definitely speaking , to survive it . I just want to enjoy the fruits of what the fuck I've been grinding for , so I'm trying to be better at that and be consistent with that .

Speaker 2

What's the rest of the year look like for you ?

Speaker 1

Oh man , yes , financially , you know I'm in a better spot . So , like looking to do some things with the podcast for sure , yeah , business , business stuff , whether that's in investing or something , or like I don't know if I necessarily want to . I don't know if I want to own my own business , um , but don't do it , I don't know if I want to definitely do that , but definitely look to like invest in something and have , you know , passive income .

Speaker 2

You know I'm the only way I'm going to start back doing the business , if I can get a PPP long , I'm going to do everything .

Speaker 1

Hey , I'm going to do everybody . Hey , we get a . We get a good enough strand of that . I'm going to say this right now I'm going to say this right now .

Speaker 2

So that's it , let's go inside but let's

COVID-19 Experience and Travel Plans

Speaker 2

talk about it .

Speaker 1

I show it by me holding a thing of mask . I said , oh yeah yeah , yeah , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 2

Once that weather changed and that that when that weather change . Yeah , master , master , fuck up . Listen . I surely just put up in my Amazon car some Kate through the longest and I didn't catch it . I called it last December . Last December I am fully vaccinated . I got boosted . I had been dodging it and then I went to Denver and then I came back home and I tested positive for COVID . It was the worst I've had the flu before and I felt better with- the flu .

Speaker 2

The flu . No , I take that back . The flu was worse . The flu was worse . The only thing that COVID , it's the long game with COVID .

Speaker 1

Like .

Speaker 2

I had to be referred to like a long care COVID clinic because it took me like almost three and a half months to get over the fatigue and the brain fog , like it was like almost four months of like I was still . I was neurologically fucking inept and was so tired for so many months .

Speaker 2

So that was really it . But the initial onset not a flu , I thought I was gonna pass away . It was the fever of that flu . That just that would hurt you with the flu Like I had a fever for eight , nine days . It was just rough off and on but yeah , they locked this shit down .

Speaker 1

They need come on Huff and Joe Lock it down .

Speaker 2

Lock this shit down . I mean lock it down Please . Please , give us do something , something . Throw a pinch the bitch . They said help me , help me , please , help me , pinch the . You even pinch this bitch . Something give us . Anybody got a fucking clue . Anybody got a clue ?

Speaker 1

Help me , that's real shit though .

Speaker 2

No , for real , Real shit though .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I don't want no parts of that shit .

Speaker 2

I do not , it was bad , it was , it was I was I didn't . It was crazy Like I literally was down bad for like cause I was off work and then I ended up like going to work like a couple , like not going to work but like logging on . Of course you know I work from home and so literally , you know , I caught COVID on like a Monday I was still on vacation . So I ended up going back to work on like a Thursday or Wednesday , one of them , and I was literally like I couldn't , even I couldn't form a sentence , like it wouldn't come out , like what I was trying to say I couldn't say . I was looking at my computer and I was like and what ?

Speaker 1

I was doing , I'm doing something .

Speaker 2

What ? Yeah I ? What is it ? Can you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth ? Motherfucker ? No , like I had to . It was so hard . I was so confused for like three weeks and it just was this constant state of confusion for a long time . It was really bad , it was crazy .

Speaker 1

So I don't want that shit no more .

Speaker 2

So hopefully those who are out there please take , you know , take those precautions . Mask up if you can , if you want to , you know , be in those spaces , get your hands sanitizing , wipe it down , all that shit .

Speaker 1

Yeah , real shit , real shit . But yeah , it's . Yeah , man , just like literally enjoying life for me , that's like a big thing for me and I'm gonna try . I didn't really travel this year yet , so I'm gonna travel travel in October . Okay , where you going ?

Speaker 2

Speaker 2

You know , I spent a lot of time in LA , a lot of time . I spent a shit ton of time in LA , a shit ton of time in Texas , but I really it's really New York Like , oh Jesus , I love New York , it's excellent .

Speaker 1

It was started in like June and it was through September and I was there like helping out with support , like for about 10 , seven to 10 days like each month . So I was there for two weeks in June , no , two and a half weeks in June of last year , a week in July , a week in August and like a week and a half in September . Speaker 1

I went to Vegas Five , maybe five , six years ago and he was out there for like four days . I'm like too too long , no long and they don't , and that that , that city that don't sleep Shit is real , it's real . It's 24 hours of niggas up kicking it , gambling everything bro .

Speaker 1

And I told you yeah , that's somewhere .

Speaker 2

I need to get to . I love New Orleans , it is . I totally ran . So I actually decided to go to New Orleans . It was like it was like three o'clock in the morning . I was just up on TikTok and I was like you know what's good , somebody had the top five places to eat in New Orleans and I was like , well , I guess I'm going to go to New Orleans to go , because I found I was on TikTok fucking . I got to say I fucking TikTok is unnecessarily how it's , it's unnecessarily bad . How what times of the morning I'll be on that shit . But I was just scrolling . I was like , oh , that looks nice . And then I found another video . I said , oh well , let me see when it's going to be a good time .

Speaker 1
