Diverse Discussion on Music and Tech

Speaker 1

Yo , before this week's episode of the Henny Nice Podcast starts , I wanted to make sure that I put this disclaimer at the start of the show . The guests that I have on this week's episode are two really dope individuals that I've known for an extremely long time , who are involved in everything from education to philanthropy , technology and even the music business , and , with that in mind , I asked them a question pertaining to the music business and the Drake UMG suit . It was important for me to make sure that I asked them this question , because they have knowledge that the ordinary person does not necessarily have and they can provide great insight . Now , this is not a pro-anti-Drake or pro-anti-Kendrick podcast . As I've said before in previous episodes , I'm a fan of both of their music , but I wanted to make sure we had an objective conversation pertaining to the matter and that these are all objective opinions as well . So , with that being said , enjoy this week's episode of the Henny Nice Podcast . What's good , and welcome back to another episode of the Henny Nice Podcast . As always , I'm your host , your brother Jay White .

So , as always , you know I appreciate the support . Now I have some really , really dope guests on the podcast . They've been like family to me since day one , one of the people I've known since high school , the other I've known way over 10 , 15 years now , and they just so happen to be married , which is the craziest part about it . And so , without further ado , on the podcast today I have the owners of the Los Angeles Lakers , tiffany and Ronnie .

Speaker 2

The funny part is that wait , can you hear us ? Good , Because was before we get . Yeah , I can hear y'all I just want to make sure you get . You get this answer . Um , that's really funny because she's a celtics fan yes , I sold my shares .

Speaker 3

You know , I used to be partial owner and I sold my shares , because I was only there for westbrook , so please don't subscribe to james when he says this .

Speaker 2

Please , please don't , because this is what I do . Every text message something with the Los Angeles Lakers .

Speaker 3

I know it's me .

Speaker 1

Yeah , private jets . All of a sudden , we on the West Coast I'm on to y'all , man , I'm on to y'all . I know what's going on . Man , you ain't got to lie to me . Just give me 0.00000001% share of the team , I'll be happy . Your secret is safe with me . You feel me .

Speaker 2

Those shares are a lot less expensive right now because of how we've been playing Right .

Speaker 1

It's not us , james , it's AI . Yeah , yeah , I appreciate y'all well . For one I thought it was just gonna be ronnie and then tiffany , which I I mean , I guess I owe tiffany this because you know she'll never let me live down the fact that you know we went to survivor series , you know , and then it just so happens to be the debut of Sting . You know we are WWE fans on this part , you feel me , so she never ceases to let me lay that down . So I guess this is fair for it to be hijacked in this manner , but no , it was the 10-year anniversary of this past Survivor Series .

Speaker 3

I know and I always bring it up Only James .

Speaker 2

The whole show she talked about .

Speaker 3

I never thought you'd betray me like that . It's crazy .

Speaker 1

First of all , I'll give them the real story . Muggs felt for me because I was going through a breakup at the time . You feel me . Tiff was like you know know what , why don't you and james go ? And like I was still on the fence about getting a ticket . Actually , that's the real story . And then , you know , I can't remember if y'all , if we were living down the street from each other at this point or not , but oh not yet .

Speaker 3

yeah , yeah , not yet . Right , right , yeah , not yet .

Speaker 1

Right , right , right , right , right . I had to come meet you at the other , the other crib in the county , and um , you know the rest , the rest is history , you know so um he was less than a year .

Speaker 2

So you know tip was still dealing with the uh situation , that he wasn't trying to depart from it at that point .

Speaker 3

No bottles you lucked up .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I lucked up , but , like I was saying before y'all got on , I'm like y'all are family essentially , so we shared a lot of moments Every March that Snapchat pops up of all of us chilling , watching March Madness eating White Castle what A lot of .

Speaker 3

Oh , wow , upstairs , yeah , I guess . So yeah , yeah upstairs .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , yeah , yeah . And then Bryson and Cole were there and young , young kids at the time you know what I'm saying Kendrick's wasn't even born yet . Then no , not yet .

Speaker 2

Yeah , yeah , you got to send me that .

Speaker 1

Oh , I got you . I sent it to Jamie , I think last year when it popped up because they were tiny , real tiny . Like I said , family , we've been through a lot of things , it's always appreciated . So I guess it's fine that Tiffany hijacks . You know the show so .

Speaker 3

I just like to say you're welcome , you know . So there's that .

Speaker 1

Yes , yes , Thanks , Thank you for blessing us with your presence . Yes , yes , yes , but yeah , so I wanted to get Ronnie on , and now I got a bonus guest on to talk about . You know what you all have going as far as assembly . Last time I had Ronnie on , we were really like on the bubble of like not VR , but the meta space and things like that . You know , he's the reason why I have this damn headset over here now . Nice , yeah , yeah . Shortly after that , because you kept preaching it , I'm like , okay , man , let me go and grab one . So I have one . Yeah , what is going on in your world ? What all are you working on in addition to having three wonderful kids ? Man , Y'all living the dream .

Speaker 2

First , thank you for all of that . Second , that's crazy about the picture with Bryson and Cole , because , man , it's crazy . We were just talking about how you blink and 10 years goes by , right , so that's what we're dealing with right now , um , with what's going on with us . So , man , I don't even know when that last conversation was , but , um , you know , we started the vr journey like what ? 2016 , roughly , yeah , like around the time of Pokemon .

Speaker 2

Go yeah um , so we've been , you know , fortunate to be able to soft launch , uh , some of our platforms and some of the , I would say , some of the processes and plans that we've had over the years . We simplified a lot , so , with assembly being more so , like our music and media , you would even say entertainment or lifestyle part that sits under

Business Strategy and Music Industry Trends

Speaker 2

breach . Now we realized , man and this may be something for entrepreneurs too , and just business owners overall you don't have to keep reinventing your wheel . You know , like , like , if you have something that works , like we put a , put a lot of time , you know , by any means jump in , but we put a lot of time and effort and energy into what was Notes for Life , which is now Breach , and then you get these ideas .

Speaker 2

You know , as you keep furthering your business , and you get these ideas that say , hey , what if we could do this ? Like we specialize , people ask us what do we do ? We specialize in providing access to creating the art of what's possible . That's the best way we can really summarize what we do . But when you do that , you end up with a lot of tentacles in terms of what you want to do and how you want to approach it . So , instead of segmenting what we do , we decided let's just do what we do best and figure out the harmonious ways to bring everything that we do under one umbrella . You still got your divisions and you still got your separate teams . You know , by any means , pick this up right now , because this is you know more so your wheelhouse . But you know you've got your different teams to still make sure everything runs smoothly , but everything is under breach . So Right , breach .

Speaker 3

So , right , yeah , we pretty much we just figured , kind of , like Ronnie said , that you know , simple is best because you don't want things to be too complicated , where you know scaling is important in business and you know that's just , that's the key . You want to be able to scale , but you want to make sure that , when you're scaling , that everything that you're doing is manageable , because there are things that you may want to , you know , put your hands in and it's like , yeah , we can do this , we can do that . While you may be able to do it , you still want to provide things at high quality and be able to again , going back to it , manage it . So the best thing was okay , let's just put everything under breach and then that allows us to manage things much better much better .

Speaker 2

And then trim the fat , you know . Trim the fat , you know , trim the fat of what doesn't fit right now doesn't mean you can't come back to it later , but you know 2024 was trimming the fat .

Speaker 1

Ok , that may not have even answered anything that you asked , but no , I find myself , even with that explanation , like because me and you talk , ronnie , and you know , we talked about like the career , kind of like career change I made in the space I'm in now space I'm in now and you have talked back and forth and we , we , you , we've gone back and forth about trying to figure out , okay , like I know what you do and like I would love for , like , my boss to like tap in with you , because you are tapped in .

Speaker 1

This is like I don't even think she probably knows . This is like possible or whatever you know I'm saying , but it's out there or whatever . So we were trying to figure out a best way to like approach . You know , the introduction phase , essentially like that , and so even when I was talking to her about it and things like that , like I'm like , well , they do this , but they also do that , but then they do this , this and I'm like , well , yeah , like you all do a multitude of different things . So it's kind of funny that you explain it in that way of like you have your divisions , you have your teams , but we don't just kind of work in a silo , we kind of do a variety of different things , you know .

Speaker 2

So , yes , you know , and she's not going to say it , but the testament really is Tiff . Like she's , she is our chief operations officer for a reason . So when you look at like our global operation , like low key , what was that ? December 17th , we finally crossed over 4 million students in like a few weeks over 10 years . So that's just about , like , how do we operate ? I guess , as Tiff was saying , manage as efficiently as we can .

Speaker 2

So you may see a lot of our work in the education realm you know as you should , because that's where we kind of planted our flag 10 years ago but what you don't see is a lot of the research and development , and I think what people are starting to see from that R&D is starting to see our VR , starting to see our augmented reality , more so like our mixed reality , starting to see our operations when it comes to training and making things better for some of your companies that you know that you do recognize from your Amazons to I just threw that out there , right ?

Speaker 2

But Amazons and your Wayfairs , and how do we leverage the technology in order to make what they do even more better in terms of onboarding and just overall production ? Wise , and it's crazy , when you think about it like a small intersection that didn't exist before at music and technology that you know people , you know that's a very busy intersection right now , right , but when you look at the start of it there was no intersection of that . So to come from that to where we are now , yeah , it probably confuses a lot of people , it confuses us sometimes too , but that's the beauty of just the creative mind and living limitless , so to speak mind and living limitless , so to speak .

Speaker 1

Gotcha yeah , speaking of the intersection of music and technology , uh-oh I like how you said it .

Speaker 1

This is what I really and now that Tiffany's on here , tiffany can also speak to it because I feel like , well , not feel we all kind of grew up in a great , speak to it because I feel like , well , not feel we all kind of grew up in a great era of hip-hop , like the late 90s , early 2000s . We've gone through the 2010s , going to be halfway through the 20s here in a couple . You know well , damn near , yeah , halfway through the 20s here in a couple weeks . It damn near , yeah , halfway through the 20s here in a couple weeks it'll be 2025 .

Speaker 1

And so we've had the I don't know if you want to call it privilege , but we've experienced , um , um , competitive , you know , things around rap . We've experienced , you know , um , you know poppin big . We've experienced Jay-Z and Nas . We've experienced 50 Cent and Jai . Oh , I know We've experienced I'm sure I'm forgetting some , but I'm thinking of , in the context of wrestling , like Wrestlemania , main event clashes , right , and so we're coming off the tail end of one with Drake and Kendrick Lamar , with the tail end of one with Drake and Kendrick Lamar , with the tail end being Kendrick Lamar's GNX and Super Bowl performance coming up here in two months or whatever . And so I bring all this up to bring it full circle is that Drake decided to file I don't know if you want to say a lawsuit , another term for it a claim , a suit , whatever you want to call it .

Speaker 1

There's a lot of conversation going around DSPs and what a stream actually is , how you can monetize it , what is the value of it all this intersection of hip-hop , music and technology , like you said right From your perspective , I would love to hear both of your thoughts on the claim itself not just the beef part , because we'll get to that later , but the claim itself and your thoughts in regards to where I guess streaming is going , or heading , or the complications that artists are going to run into , because you all have firsthand experience in kind , of navigating this space . So I really would love to hear you guys' thoughts around this specific topic . You want to take this .

Speaker 3

I'll say something very quick and I will allow you to dive as deep as you like , my God , to dive as deep as you'd like . I'll just say I think a lot of times people forget that music as well , the music industry as a whole , it's a business . So when you look at this claim that has been filed and I'm not going to say that , like you know , I read everything because I tried to mind my own business but when you look at the claim and you just look at that action , it's said to be a business move . That's where it's like OK , you can't really fault it . You know , as far as the reason behind it whether or not emotions , you know , were ultimately what fueled that action to take place that's subjective , you know . You don't really know , but music is a business and there are business moves that are made that may not agree with morals and values that we

Drake's Impact on Music Business

Speaker 3

hold . Personally , and I'll leave it at that .

Speaker 1

Personally , and I'll leave it at that . I like that , I like that . I like that corporate answer . That was clean .

Speaker 3

I know right . You know I do what , I try to do it a little bit .

Speaker 2

Go ahead , ronnie , you got this , so you know . It's funny . Like the night before Thanksgiving Keem hit me up and me and Keem were talking about this Shout out , keem , right , and I mean like you buttoned it up , right . So it , it is a business , and I think many times , specifically in the genre of hip hop , we put All right , man . Let me just go ahead and say it like this , you got it .

Speaker 1

You got it , go ahead , you got rap .

Speaker 2

Rap is the art form Right , rap is the art form right , but hip hop is the culture and I think sometimes in the rap form you know the battles , the songs we often forget that we have transcended from just the art form to the business and in the middle of that is the culture right . So we've got hip hop as a culture many times dictating what we should or should not do when it comes to the art form , which we have , over the years , figured out a way to monetize that , and it is a global , multi-billion dollar business at this point and if you really want to talk about the art form of rap and the culture of hip hop , it's probably closer to a trillion dollar industry because of its ability to influence , especially when you look at marketing and just the overall shaping of how we operate as a global society . So , that said , I think that when you look at Drake and when you look at how Drake operated in the early part of this let's just call it battle right , for lack of better words . But when you look at how Drake operated and navigated it , it was from a place of where he really thought that he had a chance to spar and win Outside , looking in right , but as the months went on , I started looking at it differently . I don't think it was ever about him winning or losing a battle with Kendrick .

Speaker 2

What I do think it was , however , it was an opportunity to be more like a Russell Westbrook and show like you know , and this is Russell Westbrook and show like you know , and this is Russell Westbrook during his triple double season . Like , I still got it and my value is still my value because behind doors , he was engaging in the art form that is held up by the culture , but he was showing value on the business side and the monetization side and , as we learned that as the months went on , it's contract negotiations he's showing his worth , showing his value and what I don't think he was probably properly counseled on , or maybe he was because , again , you don't think he was probably properly counseled on , or maybe he was because , you know , again , like you don't really know , he probably didn't see the fact that the same and this is funny , but the same technology that was leveraged for him in 2016 , 2017 , 2018 , 2019 , that same technology , which was leveraged for him and for his benefit and his gain , could be used for other people . Like you can direct like the machine is the machine for a reason , you know . When no , no one artist owns the machine , there are artists who become the priority of the machine after a while . But when that time is up , that time is up Like I remember friends rushing to purchase Pontiacs At the time , that was what it was and then there are no more Pontiacs .

Speaker 2

Right , and that's not me saying I'm comparing Drake to a Pontiac , but when your time is up in terms of being out front , your time is up being out front , and that may be tough for anybody to grasp onto or to even accept , especially when you've done the things that Drake has done in this industry , the way that he has transformed and getting to your exact point , the way he has really set the bar in terms of rap and hip hop . What a stream is man ? This is getting long winded , but it all ties in . You know , it's like you gotta . You gotta be able to dissect it , you gotta be able to say , okay , well , these are all these pieces that a lot of people don't really understand how that works .

Speaker 2

So maybe it took someone at the level of Drake to engage in a battle , and this is kind of where I started . Maybe it took him to engage in a battle that wasn't really about winning or losing for the culture , but more so about hey look , this is our number one poster boy right now . Who can do this to really expose it , to dismantle this system that dictates how much we're actually worth ? And if he did it for that reason and for that way , it's okay , I respect it . Now , maybe he didn't do it that way at all and he just miscalculated every step he did and he's paying for it .

Speaker 2

But on the flip side of it , okay , well , maybe he did set that up as to where now we can have those conversations like what do we do as artists , as creators , when we know how the game is being played at the highest level ? Um , I , uh , again , don't know if that even answered it . I just think that there's a lot of pieces of it that we don't know and we're not privy to , and everybody speculates . But I think there's more to it than just , you know , meet the grams and uh , euphoria is and you know , not like , like there's so much more than just the songs yeah , uh , so , as somebody that's not so well versed in the business aspect of it , on one half , it's like as you spoke to

The Dark Side of Music Industry

Speaker 2

it .

Speaker 1

It's like , yeah , we know or hear the horror stories about the music industry and like I , I remember um vividly the remember the behind the music episode with TLC , right , and Lisa Left Eye Lopez was specifically talking about points on an album and how TLC could go broke and she broke it down and you realize how much or how little artists actually made off an album and so which leads to like them going on tour , which is also funny because Drake constantly puts out music and goes on tour . So that kind of speaks to that . Like , my man , are you getting hold on the back end Like what's going on , but that's neither here nor there . My man , are you getting hold on the back end Like what's going on , but that's neither here nor there , but on one end . It speaks to that the practices of the music business or whatever , and how ruthless it can be , how draining it can be , it can be , and you know the facade that it can give to not just rappers and you know hip hop artists but all artists in general .

Speaker 1

Right , it's a well-oiled machine at this point and so on that instance , yeah , okay , cool , like you said , you can , you can get behind that . Let's start putting value to all of these things and let's actually , you know , stop , try . It'll never , it probably never will be , but try to make it somewhat of a level playing field . The other side of me , the , the , the person that's here for the chaos side , feels like how convenient . You know what I'm saying .

Speaker 2

Right , right right .

Speaker 1

You rarely see somebody on top get their ass whooped . The last time we seen that was Ja Rule . Ja Rule was on top of the world . He a punchline now , but when you go back and actually look at it , ja was at the top .

Speaker 2

Ja was Drake .

Speaker 1

Exactly , ja was the man . You couldn't go anywhere . I went on there to get in the club at the time On radio he was on every song he was on . He was singing a chorus , it was his song , it didn't matter , he was , he was everywhere and he was writing you know what I mean like that's right right , right .

Speaker 1

Writing for , you know , writing for fake pop stars and all this other stuff . He was doing it , they were doing it . A well oil machine . And then 50 Cent comes along and single-handedly dismantles this man's whole ecosystem , for lack of a better word .

Speaker 2

But see , even that and that's the point I was making it was never 50 Cent and Ja Rule . What it was was Interscope versus the possibility of Irv Gotti and Chris Gotti and Suge Knight and maybe even J Prince and maybe Tony Draper from Suave House coming to and maybe Master P you keep inserting names right Forming their own distribution company . And the way that you eliminate a threat is you put it in terms of entertainment in front of people , right , like you make them think OK , well , you know , this is just a hip hop battle , but if you tear down the vehicle that they're using to get to this promised land quote unquote that's all you got to do . You know what I mean . Like you don't have to kill them . All you got to do is tear down . Tear down the house that was built you know what I mean and make sure that it cannot make any money and you lower its value . And that's what I think happened with Drake . The value's been lowered , so you can't negotiate $700 million , no more . The value was dropped when it came to Ja Rule and Irv Gotti and Murder Inc . There was no distribution company anymore . But could you imagine back then them selling CDs for $13.99 a piece and making $10 on every $13.99? . You know what I mean .

Speaker 2

Like , I think sometimes we don't . We just look at it again . The culture prevents us from looking at it in terms of how we have monetized the art form in the business , and it's , you know , two separate things . It's really three separate things at this point . And sometimes , when you get to that level of success , you don't realize when it's time to get out and you don't look at it as look at how much I've made in 15 years .

Speaker 2

If you told me that I've made 400 million in 15 years , I'm probably going to be good with that . I'm probably going to be good with that . I'm not , you know , jimmy , in a wheelchair anymore . I got fans everywhere and my music is going to take care of my children and their children because if I sign those publishing contracts right , I'm good . That wasn't good enough at this moment and that's where your ego and the culture pops in . Nobody wants to be the old man in the room and nobody wants to be the old man that the room and nobody wants to be the old man that gets asked to leave or has to come off the bench . Ie , I'm going back to the Westbrook part . I know I got to keep going . Tiff , you'll be all right .

Speaker 3

Or we could talk about LeBron . I don't care . I'm a Lakers fan , I'm not a LeBron .

Speaker 2

But the truth , yeah , but that's the thing . I think Drake was more so Franklin Saint , and he forgot who . He forgot who really ran it .

Speaker 2

So and forgive me for being so jaded man . It's never just no , you're good , like you know , but truth is never just rap . Beef like the business is worth too much money for it to ever just be a beef Like the business is worth too much money for it to ever just be a beef Like . We forget that this time last year , drake was suing labels and issuing strike downs on AI . Drake that was putting out songs , that was just as good and people just looked at it as a rare occurrence . Just looked at it as a rare occurrence . They don't even realize that the labels are probably putting the machine behind this AI at a very small amount to show Drake like look you were . You know , like we can replace you , man

The Impact of Ownership in Music

Speaker 2

.

Speaker 2

I just watched a video today of Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon on WWE where Vince was telling Hogan like I , anybody could have been Hulk Hogan , and Hulk was like man , I you're , you're mad because I helped this company become what it is . That's really . You know that's Drake and Nameless right now . That's that's what that is like , you know . You know you got these . You might have a valid claim , but this ain't you didn't . You don't own the deed to this house . It's like you don't own the keys to that machine .

Speaker 3

And I think that's a good point , like ownership is so important and a lot of these industries , because it isn't just music , but a lot of the industries . They prey on people that are green , that don't know what they're doing , because , ultimately , if I can take advantage of you , that means I'm going to come out much more profitable than you are . However , I'm not the one that has to do the lead work , I'm not the one with boots on the ground , so you run into that a lot . Specific to Drake there is something where it's like okay , when you get to a certain altitude , you kind of forget like you're human , you breathe the same oxygen , you know .

Speaker 3

And , um , I think about a lot of the people that climb everest . Some of them don't know when to call it quits and they die on that mountain . Some of them make it to top and then they don't make it down because they forget you are not stronger , you don't have the muscle , you're not in control . You may have trained for this , you may have been ready for this , for what we were saying .

Speaker 3

The past 10 years You've been in a certain position , so you forget who you truly are and the power that you do or don't have , and I think that we're seeing this in real time you know , and it sucks because you're seeing , like and I don't want to group him in as , like , you know , the greats , um , but you know that's subjective , but um , it sucks that we're in an era where we're seeing a lot of the greats fall because they don't know when to throw in the towel , they don't know when to just stop , and that's , that's across the line . When it comes to professionals , music , sports , you know a lot of it .

Speaker 2

Yep 100 percent agree with that one agree with that one .

Speaker 1

um , I definitely wanted to specifically for sure , in terms of , like I said , technology and music and the , just the streaming aspect , um , I felt like you all could really really speak , speak to that because , like I said , you all are in that for sure , like in that , especially in form , in forms of technology , like especially with the meta , the meta stuff you know , like at the forefront of that stuff , and it's all connected and it's , you know , at some point a part of the machine you know . But I definitely wanted to get your feedback , not necessarily just on like the , the beef stuff , because I feel like that's surface level , the actual claim or lawsuit , whatever he wants to call it , behind it and stuff like that . I'm like , okay , that was the question , ronnie , when I said I got something I wanted to ask you .

Speaker 2

I'm glad you didn't tell me in advance , though .

Speaker 1

Moving on to WWE , is there a method ? And Tiffany is married to you and lives with you , is she privy to the wild ass freaking takes that you be having bro that you put in in the group chat ? Is she privy to that ? Because sometimes I I don't . I got better just not responding and letting you have it now because it it is the most wwe universe 2k storing line uh sandbox on point a to point b takes .

Speaker 1

I have ever 2K storyline sandbox on point A to point B takes I have ever heard and I give you credit you stood specifically by . I know listeners are probably dropping like WWE , what the fuck ? You stood by the Danielan shit for a solid two years . So I will give you like it was at least a solid two years . I will give you credit on that one . But , bruh , some of the takes are so wild and I have to know do you run these by tiff or is this just something that you have on the notes app and your phone that you just drop into the group chat like a nuke and just run and hide bro ?

Speaker 3

no , I'm about to cut you off really quick . Wait , wait , wait , wait .

Speaker 1

I need some clarity .

Wrestling Business and Talent Evaluation

Speaker 3

So Ronnie's in the group chat .

Speaker 2

He's the one wreaking havoc bruh no wait wait , james ain't gonna say it , james ain't gonna say it no , I'm gonna keep it a bean .

Speaker 1

I'm gonna keep it a bean when it comes to anything AEW related . It's usually Sleep and Boogie that go back and forth with that , and Ronnie would throw in his digs every once in a while , like calling them broke boys and shit like that .

Speaker 2

I ain't never Not calling Sleep and calling them broke boys and shit like that .

Speaker 1

But Not calling sleeping boogie broke boys , but calling AEW broke boys All day long . Yeah , calling them broke boys , or whatever . You know he'll get his digs in here and there , but when it comes to the WWE , I swear for God , he has the most . I won't even say egregious , but the wildest taste of where storylines are going to go . And I'll just be like what ?

Speaker 2

Listen , remember that thing . I told you we specialize in creating the art of what's possible .

Speaker 1

Yes .

Speaker 2

I operate my every day . That's what that is . I operate my every day in the art of what's possible . I didn't say the art of what is , but I did say the art of what's possible . Now , to that point I will say this there were a few times on big items , ie cm , punk , um , I don't remember the daniel bryan thing , I just remember I was right . Um , oh my gosh .

Speaker 1

But because of this . It was just the daniel bryan thing , was just them about them , not uh uh , releasing him , like him eventually coming back to wrestle or whatever . Yeah , yeah , yeah . That's what that was .

Speaker 2

But since we've had the Discord , I think that there are some other people who probably align with me too . Or it could be Edibles , I don't know , but I think that there are people that align with me too . Or it could be edibles , I don't know , but I think that there are people that align with me more now than , let's say , a James or a fan , troy or Aaron don't count . He comments on everything and he's Aaron , don't disagree with nobody , but but yeah , I mean , I just look at it like , look , this is all . These are all predetermined finishes , right For sure . This is the one sector where we could have fun . We do a lot of serious stuff . Oh yeah , you be having some fun . But here's the other part . I don't be wrong all the time part . I don't be wrong all the time , and I don't be wrong . My calculations may be off sometimes because I'm doing a different type of mathematics than other people .

Speaker 2

He's doing Steiner math , Nicky you know I'm doing Steiner math sometimes , but the overall big picture is the overall big picture . I still think we get Cody as a heel . I still think Rock and Cody team up . You know , yeah , look at .

Speaker 1

Tiff . Tiff said hmm , she agreed .

Speaker 2

That was a different . Yeah , I still think we get Rock Tiff is drinking the Kool-Aid too Fun .

Speaker 1

I mean , I've been ready for like heel . I still think we get rocked . Tiff is drinking the Kool-Aid too Fuck .

Speaker 3

I've been ready for Hill Cody . I don't really like I don't know . It's like okay , yay , mr Goody , I mean again .

Speaker 2

A lot of reason for that is I look at the business . Remember this Before it happened , I was the only person that kept saying I mean , they ate me alive on this one . But I kept saying that sasha mercedes should not go to a w , not because it's oh yeah , that that was a .

Speaker 2

That was a very heated conversation but not because it wasn't good for her , but because it was not good for the business , the business being specifically a W . You don't give somebody who is not a multimillion dollar draw that much money because the people who have been loyal to you are going to look at you like she gets that much and our ratings aren't any better . In fact , our ratings are worse . She gets that much and our ratings aren't any better . In fact , our ratings are worse . So to be able to see that before she ever put ink to paper , you know what I mean , that's just looking at the business of it . You got to look at the business and say this doesn't make sense , because if she was that much of a draw , there's no way WWE would let her walk . The same way as if Ricochet was so much of a draw , wwe does not let him walk .

Speaker 1

I don't know where the Ricochet shit was coming from . That wouldn't even work . Now the Sasha , mercedes , monet , shit . Yeah , because I do feel in terms of accolades , you line her up with the other women superstars that got cashed out by WWE , like Charlotte and Becky , I do think . Whatever it should have been around their ballpark . Now I'm not entirely sure what she got from AEW . We might , we might have been like arguing like two different things .

Speaker 2

She got like five million a year . Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

I don't know what Charlotte and Becky got .

Speaker 2

Three , three or four . You know what I mean .

Speaker 1

I would say , yes , give her around that for somebody that has main evented a night of wrestlemania , um , and kind of continue to get shafted in terms of like the um , like the women's tag team championships , which we know now that that that shit is just poison , right , so , um , getting stuck with that title , so getting stuck in that division , so that's a whole different topic . But I did think she should have got around what they got . So that was kind of like my whole stance on it . But you also privy to like that . You let us know some other stuff she had kind of been on in the past and stuff like that which I didn't agree with . I hate when . I hate when our I'll put it this way I hate when black wrestlers want to stray so far away from the culture .

Speaker 1

I'll leave it at that , I'll leave it at that . Embrace that shit , because you're essentially setting the trends for everything , right ?

Speaker 2

so like why are you ?

Speaker 2

falling against it or away from that , but yeah so sasha at the time , that it wasn't just because they wanted two black women to main event wrestlemania . Like sasha and bianca , they were putting it up , putting them up against each other to see which one they need to bet the house on . And when you look at the overall picture of bianca and you look at the overall picture of Bianca and you look at the overall picture of Sasha , it's a no-brainer . You gotta go with Bianca all day long . She's got less miles on her body .

Speaker 1

No , for sure , Bianca was next you know what I mean .

Speaker 2

Sometimes this is that thing people forget the same machine that made you is the same one that can make people forget you exist . Sasha is dancing in high school gyms at this point . You know what I mean . Like like it just to my .

Speaker 2

In my opinion , people forget like that's . Oh , my God . Here's my issue with everything . My issue with everything is this when you have talent , that's an incredible thing to have , because a lot of people just don't have talent in some of these highly recognized areas . To make everything work , you need people that admire and are inspired and appreciate the greatness that other people do .

Speaker 2

But sometimes the people who do have talent forget that they have also been elevated and that they have been , I would say , given a boost or like an adrenaline shot to be even better than they are , and at least the perception is that they are , or at least the perception is that they're greater than they actually are . And when you have that situation happen , you sometimes forget I know I'm great , I'm really good , but am I as great as I am being depicted to be ? And that deals with a real sense of taking inventory on self and accountability . Like you're great , are you as great as they have built you up to be , and we forget that no-transcript . What would I be without the machine ? Well , we're seeing that right now with Sasha and Drake . My bad .

Speaker 1

I mean I do think she's worth the three . You know what I'm saying . But all day long , yeah , I think she's worth the three , and they just didn't want to give it to her , which I mean it happened , and she went and got five . And you know you deal with what comes with the five .

Speaker 2

So here's the thing she's not worth it anymore . She's not worth it anymore If she was worth the three before she left out the door and then she went to some place who basically said I'm gonna give you 15 million for three years or something like that , or however much I'm going to give you . I heard somewhere it was 30 million , which is crazy 10 million a year for Sasha . But good for her . Go get your money . I'm not going to ever say don't get your money . I'm just going to say let's look at the long-term picture of it . It does not make sense .

Speaker 2

If you want to be part of a successful business and you're talking about elevating the industry , let's be real . You're going to get your money . You're going to get your money and you found someplace that will pay you . If I went right now and put my old Air Force Ones on Facebook Marketplace for 500 bucks , 99% of people are going to look at me like I'm crazy . But I might find that one idiot that's going to pay me $500 for some old shoes . I might find one person that'll do it . Sasha found her one idiot and I think that's okay . She found her one .

Speaker 1

So yes , tiffany , this is one of the topics that . This wasn't a crazy topic , this was actually a good conversation .

Speaker 1

I didn't eat you alive . My thing was just pay her what I felt . I felt like she was on the level of Becky and Charlotte and that was my whole thing . But outside of Becky and Charlotte , and that was my whole thing . But outside of that and some other wild topics he be on , I just wanted to know if you'd be cosigning his madness and the fact that you said , yeah , turn Cody Hill . I'm like , yeah , she's drinking a little bit of it .

Speaker 3

He is not running these topics by me or his hot takes . I am just learning of this , so no we'll have to like .

Speaker 1

So I've been wanting to do this for hell , and we'll have to figure out a way to do it me . You sleep Tiff if she want to be in . She want to be down . To do it Me , you sleep Tiff , if she want to be down . Coop , somehow do a watch along , or something where we review something , either from the Attitude Era , or maybe just a sit down talking about the current state of WWE , or something where we can all get together and just talk about that . I think that'll be really , really dope .

Speaker 1

I don't know if we live streaming on Twitch or something , I don't know , maybe we are in the metaverse . You know what I'm saying . I don't know how we would do it , but I would really I don't know really like to do that with y'all at some point , because I think , it'll be hella interesting .

Speaker 2

It'd be even better if we did it in VR VR headset on watch the match . Sit ringside and watch all those old matches .

Speaker 1

Right , right , matches Right . Everybody select their favorite match or some obscure match , some hidden gem that just does it for them . I think that'll be dope . We'll have to figure that out . Put it together .

Speaker 3

Yeah , I think that'll be good . We're here for it .

Speaker 2

Put Boogie in that , because I know he would do it For sure . Boogie , I didn't get a oh and put Boogie in that because I know he would do it .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , for sure , for sure , boogie . I didn't get a chance to speak to Boogie or Jamie at the gala . They were both busy that night . But yeah , that would be dope . All right , man .

Reviving Ownership Through Music and VR

Speaker 2

James asked about Drake and Kendrick on this podcast .

Speaker 1

But I asked in the sense of music and technology though .

Speaker 3

See , I answered the question properly .

Speaker 1

She answered it like the chief officer that's she is . You know what I'm saying . So it was very diplomatic and she jumped right out of that . So , but I knew you , I know you , ronnie , I know Ronnie's going to take the bait . Right , right , I knew you were going to have something to say .

Speaker 2

There was just no way to not answer that . There was just like literally , and you know what ? To be really fair , we have friends that are right there in the middle of that , like right , literally , literally , right there in the middle of it , and I don't know how they , I don't know how they navigate it , because it is a it is a trickier situation . However , I did want to say this . We talked about the value of a stream . That is the number one reason as to why we've been working so hard with music and VR , and that's why that is that is .

Speaker 2

That's the number one reason because , um , we look at it as an opera and this is our devil stage team , right , that works with assembly , but this is it's an opportunity for us . It's an opportunity for us to be constructively disruptive and by that it's bringing back like our whole thing . Is , how do you bring back the feeling of ownership when it comes to something , when it comes to all things , right , but when it comes to music , you remember how it felt to go to Street Side or Sound Revolution or whatever insert CD store you went to to buy a CD . There was something about even how you took the rapper off the CD . Me , I was the one . I would save that sticker barcode and I put it in the inside of the CD case because I just appreciated what I was spending my money on and the return on investment was not just the music , it was the physical product .

Speaker 2

We lose physical product and wonder why the quality of music is what it is . We lose physical product and we are sitting here like , oh , I don't know what's going on , because we're not feeling nothing , no more , we don't have anything to put into our hands , to own . So when you look at a space like VR , or you look at a space , like augmented reality , or you look at some of these decentralized avenues . It allows us to be able to say , okay , let's just go all the way in and change how music is consumed , you know , by people who are fans of music , and that doesn't always look like the United States .

Speaker 2

A lot of the stuff we're doing in Tokyo , like the stuff we do in Tokyo . I don't even know if people over here the you know , the majority , a healthy amount of people , would understand what it is that we do , but that's okay , because that market isn't here yet . It may never be here , but we sure as hell appreciate tokyo . You know what I mean , like you know . So it's . It's those kind of things like we are creating the platform where you have both a combination of an artist that's brave and an artist that provides quality content and I know quality is subjective , but we've got to set a bar somewhere , Right , and with being able to have that and do that , that allows us to change how we deliver it , and you , by all means , talk about that .

Speaker 3

Well , I mean a lot of it .

Speaker 3

I will say this a lot of it regarding ownership , has been lost , because there's a certain pride that comes along with ownership and there's a certain attachment , and that's very true .

Speaker 3

You spoke to the , but you know , it's just really bringing back that sense of music is a very powerful tool and let's not just use it carelessly . Let's go back to thinking , even like , yes , ok , I'm a creative , I'm sensitive about my shit , but let's go back to actually being sensitive and thinking things through , strategizing properly . But 10 years , five to 10 years down the line , how will this affect me or my offspring or generations to come , that I may not be personally connected to Right , and that's both financially and personally , emotionally . We see where . You know what era we're in right now , but it's just about bringing it back to a place where we all can coexist in a healthy way and we aren't afraid of each other . And there's not all this , you know , hesitation to interact and to get back to a point where there is community . All of that has been lost because the art is no longer respected .

Speaker 1

Well , I appreciate y'all jumping on and speaking to that . Like I said , I knew Ronnie would take the bait , but I knew it's not just as surface level as just . Oh , these two dudes don't like each other .

Speaker 2

Speaking specifically , who needs friends like this ? Take the bait , but you know what ? I will say this since we're recording , it's time for James to jump over into the VR avenue for Henny Nights , because I've been talking to him about this , I know .

Speaker 1

We've been meaning to get together for a while . I don't think I've been over in person since before , since the Wait a minute , I think it was before the pandemic . No , it was after that . It was during the playoffs 2020 .

Speaker 2

Oh , outside , yeah , we were outside .

Speaker 1

I think that was the last time Ashley were over . But he has been talking about that for a while . We've been talking about a lot of things for a while that are in the works and stuff like that . So , yeah , I am in a space now where , yeah , if we can figure that out , what that'll look like , I'd be open to that . I mean , I was open to that before , but then something would always kind of come up . So now I have a little bit more stable , stability , you feel me .

Speaker 1

So yeah , and he's been talking about talking to me about that for a while , so See , I didn't know about it because I would have just strong-armed you , you know . Yeah , you know , yeah , put on my shite big James , you're doing this , yeah yeah , you're doing it , yeah , yeah , you don't have a choice . Yeah , but by stability .

Speaker 2

We're very glad about that too . Can't wait to meet her .

Speaker 1

Soon , soon , soon . I already told her about y'all and stuff like that , because I bring up people that I'm going to talk to , I'm doing this , I'm doing that . She's like who ? Then I have to give her the background . I was like yeah know , you know , you used to . You know , go over here watch wrestling , watch basketball , and tiffany , tiffany used to roll a blade at the skating rink , girl bro , you know . And then like I'm gonna , punch you in the face .

Speaker 3

You better , not , you better not .

Speaker 1

You know what I'm saying , but um , no , you know the people I I I made it , made sure to tell her about the people that you know I care about , that are family , so you are definitely in that , in that group , and so , yeah , when we'll figure something out Some type of get-together or something like that We'll all kick it . She has a son too , right ?

Speaker 2

James , they were at Raw . Did you guys do Raw and NXT ? No , we just did Raw .

Speaker 3

Oh , okay , yeah , we just went to Raw that Monday .

Speaker 1

So yes , we can even go to I don't know when the next time . I always say I don't know when the next time they'll come , and then they'll announce they'll come in . So like , yeah , whenever they announce their next stop here , maybe we can all , you know , ronnie knows the owners . You know what I'm saying . We can set that up , we can suite it up . You feel me ?

Speaker 2

You know what ? This last time we didn't do a suite and I think the kids , unfortunately , liked it more than the suite .

Speaker 1

Because they were out with the people . They were in the stands .

Speaker 2

They got a chance to see themselves on TV three or four times , two nights in a row . We don't know how to take that away from them .

Speaker 1

Yeah , you have to make it a thing , make it an experience . Have they been to a PLE yet ? I don't think we've had one since .

Speaker 2

Rumble and we didn't go to the Rumble .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , right , that was still kind of in the midst of pandemic-ish type stuff . So yeah , I mean , people say it was one of the worst Rumbles so you might have done them a favor . Maybe , who knows , that's some trick .

Speaker 2

That was ronda rousey , wasn't it ?

Speaker 1

yeah , yeah , that was lesnar and rousey , that one that year , yeah , so that was roman versus seth and and bobby versus brock and all that stuff . Yeah , it was a weird time , so but uh , go ahead and let them know where they can find out more about Breach and Assembly and if they want to actually contact you or get in touch with you .

Speaker 2

Always the website thisisbreachcom . I will say this we're looking to do more stuff in St Louis always . So if you have an opportunity for anything that needs maybe a revisioning of education or just activations I mean , this is also the battlegrounds , right , so anything like that just let us know the socials are all this is breach . I believe this is breach . So the socials are all this is breach . I believe this is breach . So , or you know , I don't know Like , yeah , let me just leave it at that . I'm not going to say no , we used to be much more open , that's it .

Speaker 1

Yeah , that's it , but I appreciate y'all for jumping on . Like I said , tiffany , you know , came and hijacked , you know .

Speaker 3

It's my thing .

Speaker 1

So that's her thing . So I appreciate it . But yeah , I appreciate y'all for jumping on Until the next time . We'll talk to y'all later . Peace , All right , peace .
